@@Sci-FiKai They're correct, Rookie is more specialized in stealth, accuracy and investigations. He's like the Noble 6 (the Spartan III Headhunter) of the ODST Alpha team. Rookie is probably the one to hack into stuff as well. Also don't forget the team being able to bypass all the safety softwares in the Phantom and being able to fly it. The black daggers ended up teaching future ODSTs EVA combat as part of normal odst training due to the Black daggers getting massacred in Halo Silent Storm where it was 500 Black daggers, 15 ONI captained stealth prowlers and 14 Spartans vs 1 covenant fleet. I would point out that in the books, all ODST BDUs are considered to be vacuum rated. During the Cole Protocol novel Commander Keyes was performing a rescue/interdiction operation for nav data on an Insurrectionist freighter that was broadcasting a false UNSC distress beacon. Despite the ODSTs not being suited up for any vacuum operations, they managed to escape the ambush by jumping out and using their battle rifles as impromptu thrust packs. This shows the ODST BDU is rated for vacuum period, quoted as 15 minutes I believe, without any additional equipment added.

Depending on how much value one can place in the Kilo-Five Trilogy (I personally really liked it, but I understand there's a lot of people that don't hold those books in high regards) the ODST BDU seems to hold up decently to plasma fire. I don't remember if it was Mal or Vaz but one of them tanked a full three round burst to the back from a plasma rifle before he could get behind cover while they were on Sanghelios. Besides his armor being locally scorched at the area of impact he didn't suffer any lasting effects from it.

How do we know that the b2 isn't susceptible to ballistics. They don't really have to pay attention to ballistic weapons because everything that they fight is designed against energy or plasma. It could just have a really high heat resistance and a sturdy enough to get knocked around a bit. Also I don't know if the Shields would really work it really depends on how they work because if they just negate the plasma or whatever kind of making it spread through the shield like a conduit instead of hitting the target then those Shields would not work at all. I think the only times those Shields would actually work are against the Spartan laser and covenant weapons.

3:49 actually the ammunition it uses is really cool, its real world equivalent is known as SLAP (Sabot Light Armor Penetrator) basically severely scaled down APFSDS (Armor Piercing Fin Stabilized Discarding Sabot) which is a the primary ammunition modern main battle tanks use today to destroy other tanks.
(Bear in mind SLAP realistically cannot threaten tank armor, that's just where they got the idea from. It was made to counter light armored vehicles like APCs or IFVs),
How these rounds work is they are a very long and thin dart/arrow shaped projectile made of a very hard and dense material like Tungsten or Depleted Uranium. The round uses its length as a sort of fuel to bore through heavy armor meaning maximum penetration is theoretically up to the length of the projectile.
In real like M903 SLAP, the round the US developed for its troops, demonstrated 2-3x the armor penetration of standard .50 cal AP at all ranges. Standard .50 cal AP can penetrate up to 30mm (1.18in) by most calculations. This would mean our modern day SLAP rounds could penetrate between 60-90mm (2.36-3.54in) ideally.
Logically speaking ammunition in Halo's time frame would have massively advanced in penetration so I'd assume in excess of 100mm (3.94in).

    • @Baker1798
      @Baker1798 10 дней назад

Even if it could take down battle droids , I think they would have a logistics problem with how much ammo they would probably have to dump into each droid. How much ammo would you dump in a small skirmish? How much ammo can you carry before it is a problem.

ODST stands for orbital drop shock trooper, but most of you already know that, so we know what the O.D. of O.D.S.T. means, but I don't think many people know what the context of an S.T. or "Shock Trooper" is. Shock Trooper's are specialized military units that are trained to lead attacks and are often better equipped and trained than other military units. They are expected to take more casualties, even when operations are successful. The term "Shock Trooper" comes from the German word Stoßtrupp, which literally means "push squad." The concept of shock troops is not new, but the term became popular in the 20th century. In the past, Western European armies called them the forlorn hope. Basically, they're a mix between traditional military unit and special forces that are typically sent in first or along with traditional military units.

Only argument I'd make is that their standard armament isn't the Silenced SMG, but the MA5 series assault rifle. This is based on Buck using it over the M7S SIlenced SMG. Their specific armament for the ODST campaign was more selected for their Spec-Ops mission parameters. I recall Romeo actually commenting that he'd have 0 use for a sniper rifle inside a ship (which they thought they'd be entering, instead of fighting in New Mombasa) when he'd wanted to bring an M90 CAWS (Shotgun). Based on this, we can probably assume that the weaponry we see them using was intended to be used in a ship boarding action... And they managed to fight their way through New Mombasa kitted out incorrectly compared to the environment they'd found themselves in and survived. Buck was probably the only one kitted properly since he had an MA5C on him, which fires the 7.62x51mm Armor Piercing, Full Metal Jacket round, which would definitely help in taking down B2 Super Battle Droids. While the M7S Caseless DOES use a small caliber round, it should be noted that the ammunition that's used by the M7 is coated in both a gliding metal (potentially copper, or even brass) and also has a hardened steel or tungsten carbide core. It probably has a higher penetration at close quarters than roughly equivalently sized rounds. To compared the UNSC 5x23mm Caseless to a real life caliber, the FN 5.7x28mm (now NATO STANAG 4509) has a penetration in ballistic gel (after piercing Lvl 2 Kevlar) of 9.8 inches from 25m/27yd, then we can assume that it has similar penetration capacity. The B2 wouldn't likely be taken down rapidly by an M7S, but it'll likely have some issues when the small rounds hit weaker areas such as joints or points of flexibility where the armoring is likely less layered. Or Buck just focuses fire in one or two areas using his MA5 to start taking names.

With that in mind, they absolutely could handle all the hacking issues given what Vergil is, and he might even be able to help them deal with droids too, assuming they're not somehow immune to hacking.

They probably won't need his help hacking any doors but if he can hack into the Droids mainframe that would be very useful. Considering they probably brought enough C-12 to take out a Star Destroyer with them. Given that a 4x4x4 inch cube can level a 5 story building and two of those damage packs contain enough C-12 to blow through three meters of UNSC battleship armor plating. A 28 or 50mm blast door isn't really going to stop that even the 2 meters thick blast doors of the New Jedi Temple's Operations Hangar wouldn't do anything to slow them down as they simply blow a hole straight through the door and walk in like they own the place.

The SRS Series of Anti Material rifles fire 14.5×114mm rounds which are armor-piercing fin-stabilized & discarding sabot

Like a hot knife through butter. But it does get worst when you realize that some ODSTs have taken a liking to the M99A2S3 an updated M99 Stachion Gauss rifle capable of firing a tungsten dart at Mach 43.6 and hitting a human size target 4.7 miles away after going through an office building , armored vehicles ,etc anything short of a bunker door and still hit with enough force to blow the target apart.
That's what you call an Anti everything cannon.
Also the SRS99 series doesn't just fire APFSDS (armor-piercing, fin-stabilized, discarding sabot) rounds. It has two other ammo types .
14.5×114mm HVAP high-velocity armor-piercing rounds and 14.5×114mm HEAP (high-explosive, armor piercing) rounds are available for the weapon.
Yes high explosive bullets are technically illegal according to the Geneva Convention and others that were made before it. But the UNSC pissed on all of that and decided to make exploding bullets. Because punching a hole through an energy shields and armor wasn't quite enough so they decided to have the rounds explode inside the target.

He’s got other abilities too, he has active cameo and adaptive cameo to turn invisible or blend into any environment or change his appearance better than the Predators. He can scan around him for the vitals of anyone. He can use the Dome energy shield which actually did block a nuke once. He’s got over shields which gives him extra protection, and he’s got a strength boost as well. And last but not least he has a temporal distortion device which allows him to stop or slow down time around him for about a minute and a half so yeah he’s Overpowered lol
The Meta is stronger than most Predators physically, did you even ever watch the show or look up calculations for feats? He’s survived large explosions that took chunks out of an ice mountain, his pistol alone can destroy large stone pillars, he can smash and throw a warthog, he can smash large stone walls, and more.
Wesker only could win if he infects Homelander but he’s weaker and slower so he will be burned alive sadly.

With my knowledge of halo lore and star wars lore (both not being as extensive as it could be), I would venture to say that reasonably, assuming enough ammo was maintained, the team in ODST (or likely any ODST team, for that matter), would survive nearly every battle in the clone wars.
Force Users? They have kinetic weapons which have been shown to be a strength against force users
Battle droids/ clone troopers/ whatever army they're facing?
The majority of technology in star wars is energy based, which means an emphasis on heat reduction, more than just armor thickness.
More than likely the actual armor isn't going to be a problem for the SRS99 to penetrate, it will be figuring out what a kill shot even looks like on droids, and who to shoot in the first place.
The biggest threat to the ODSTs would be droidekas, but I would say that ODSTs would adapt to fighting them too. That's literally their thing, improvise, adapt, overcome.
Either they would try rolling a grenade at the shield to see if it would go through, or they would lay a trap for it, and kill them that way.
And any decent caliber weapon in halo is going through clone trooper armor. The armor is designed to mitigate the energy from plasma impacts, not .308 on space-drugs.
Anyway, I'm not an expert on either lore, just my two cents.
It'd certainly be interesting to see a game where they cross paths

In my head canon in equipping the squad with the assault or battle rifles as my head canon is the reason that canonically those weapons were in New Mombasa but the reason the team never picks them up is because their mission was of stealth nature. And after they got split up it was imperative for those that didn’t have powerful weapons to stay sneaky. Although I’m not sure if even those rounds would do much since the battle droids are made entirely of metal. But It’s also my head cannon that since they could figure out how to operate covenant weapons and technology they could at least figure out how to use Star Wars weapons if they needed them. But it seems like the sniper and spartan laser are as good if not better in some ways than their Star Wars counterparts would be.

In terms of weapons, we have seen Romeo in the opening cutscene take a shotgun at first before Buck says no. If this is used as a substitution for one or any number of team members, the low-caliber of the SMGs shouldn't be an issue. We also see Buck typically use the Halo "Assault Rifle" which really shoots a battle rifle round, which should be able to get through tough targets, though maybe not as efficiently as Romeo's sniper rifle. We also know that the suppressed weapons in ODST were taken specifically for the mission that was planned (why Buck says no shotgun) so if the ODSTs are allowed to pick suitable weapons before their missions, tough targets shouldn't be an issue.

I'm kind of iffy on the idea that they couldn't take out a Super battle droid with their own equipment. On one side there said that they are really tough on the other they're only tough to the weapons that are designed around them AKA laser weapons not ballistic as far as i know. One doesn't always correlate to the other. Kind of like how some things can have a high heat tolerance but at the same time be very very brittle that kind of idea.

fuck, one of the biggest advantages the halo cannon universe has over star wars cannon is that the UNSC use ballistics and armour plated specifically to withstand plasma, whereas the SW factions have laser weaponry, which is weaker than plasma, and armour specifically made to withstand the same type of weapons

1 minute in, and I can already see the glaring similarity that while both units, Delta Squad and Alpha-9, are special forces, meant to be used in the back line to disrupt or recon enemy positions or logistics, that their respective militaries end up using them as shock troops. If I remember correctly, Mace Windu was described as leading squads of commandos in a head on charge on Geonosis, while the UNSCDF deployed its contingents of entire companies worth of ODST’s right on top of enemy positions.
I believe some key differences to note, are at what the actual parameters are for either unit. Commando’s would likely best fit for a role as commandos. Sent to the back line of enemy forward operations, meant to destroy, interior or otherwise inhibit an enemies logistics, command structure, or auxiliary support. Things almost exactly like we see in the game Republic Commando, which, good on them for doing. They take out high ranking enemy officials/ officers. They destroy key logistics positions. They even assist guerrilla/ partisan fighters! They really do fit the commando aesthetic/ template set in place most famously by British SAS in the Second World War.
Now, ODST’s on the other hand are a bit of a different story. Not a lot of difference, but distinguished enough. Because of how oddly branches are structured in Star Wars Clone Wars period, I can’t really say there is a dedicated Marine Corps branch, at least not that I know of. I know that in Star Wars there are the Nova Marines and the Galactic Marines, but I know them only as Legions/ Divisions, not Branches of the military. In Halo ODST’s belong exclusively to the Marine Corps Branch of the United Nations Space Command Defense Force. And, it is stated in lore (Bungie Lore) that ODST’s should, or do, replace all existing special forces for the UNSCDF. Correct me if I’m wrong. Which means that ODST training encapsulates not just one specialization that might belong to Marine Raiders, or Marine Force Reconnaissance, or even MARSOC as a whole (and because of how closely Marines and Navy work together, likely SARC’s as well) that they train up ODST’s with all the collective specializations. Commandos can be programmed with this information, and trained relatively quickly. However to be fair, I believe training for ODST’s is only like a year, at least during the Human Covenant war. The point being, if I can remember, is that while the Commando’s would encapsulate special forces for the entire GAR, ODST’s really only account for special forces for the Marine Corps. In Halo Reach, some of the armor descriptions like FJ/Para and the Harness chest piece, reference Army Pathfinders and Army Airborne as their inspiration for the armor creation. Both Pathfinders and Airborne belong to the army, and are themselves special forces on account of the specialized training they have for their roles.
Again, only a minute into your vid, but feel so passionate about how stupid the militaries in either sci fi story that I had to put my worthless two cents in just feel good about myself lmao.
If it came down to it, you realistically could put any special forces from any genre in any other genre and it would be the same. Could put the SG-1 star gate teams in Star Wars and I’m certain they’d be fine. Put SF anywhere and they’d succeed, unless you put a bunch of them in an empty field against a tank lmao. SF or SOF, will do well in any setting if the following things are provided. Behind training, understanding, and practice, you’ll need to equip your SF with dedicated Air support, with anti air support as a given, armor/ mechanized support, although mostly mechanized based on the nature of engagements following US military doctrine of mechanized/ motorized combat. Dedicated CAS, different from air support like drone ISR, transportation, or Satellite imaging, think more like attack helicopters or jets outfitted with a limited payload for precise destruction. Dedicated logistics to handle supplying a unit requiring special needs, or training to supplement deployments where resupply is limited. Dedicated QRF, meaning another specialized team rallied together to ensure the safe or relative safe exfiltration of the SF team after a mission complete/ failure. Think things like a MEDEVAC/ CASEVAC. This should also include considerations for deployment of medical trained personnel to be deployed with the SF team. Interpreters are almost always a must, as it would be nearly impossible for a single service man to understand not only the languages across a world, never the less a galaxy! This should even include the interpreters knowledge of the terrain, people’s and cultures that populate that specific region of operation. Will likely need an attached artillery or mortar element on standby as well to deploy, whether an attached external element or an integrated mortar team integral within the unit.
All of that, plus probably half a billion dollars on standby to give to bribe the locals for information when all else fails.
SF teams are cool, but the nitty gritty of it, is that they are but a tiny element of the whole shibang and caboodle.

What would it be like if the Delta Commander from Planetary Annihilation was in the Star Wars universe EU canon? A Delta Commander can construct whole planetary armies and different kinds of facilities in a matter of hours and the units it produces are massive. Going from light weight mountain sized tanks to state sized titans. The player who is a Delta Commander can build a vast network of planetary defense arrays that protect the planet from invasions or bombardment that cover the ground, upper atmosphere, and orbit. You can build shipyards, power generators, fleets, and a ton of others units and facilities in helping to create a self supporting economy and advance technological research. The player can even take over a attack moon that sole function is to destroy planets. The thing about Delta Commanders though is that they can only be at one place at a time.
This second scenario is my personal favorite one if it crossover with Star Wars and there is a rich amount of events in it.
The Katzenartig Imperium or also known as the Katzen from Stellaris Gigastructural Engineering these guys start off on their homeworld named Flusion a continental world inhabited by various species ranging from the feline Katzens, amphibious Zuspris, humanoid Roqualians, crustacean Kronks, and a few more. The Katzen start as a primitive civilization who are divided into several Flusionian Nation states however despite their primitiveness they have a active attack moon designed to deter any hostile invasions.
Their homesystem Jublio is connected to another system called Jupitwo, which hosts a psionic primitive civilization on the planet named Corrona, consisting of a unique Skeletoid species. During midgame the Katzenartig Imperium, a nation led by the Kaiser Kattail, will attempt a crusade to unite Flusion under his banner. Eventually the Kaiser will succeed, with the entire planet falling under his control. Following the Kaiser's takeover, the Imperium will undergo a period of rapid military expansion, eventually becoming a proper spacefaring civilization, with very powerful fleets, and a fully fledged attack moon. If the player owns the Jublio system, you will be asked to return it, in exchange for some resources. You can accept the deal, or refuse and prepare for war, which could end if the Katzen take the system, or continue if you still refuse to surrender.
As the Imperium grows in power, the Kaiser will send out yearly demands to bordering empires demanding terriotry in exchange for resources. If you accept, it's likely his opinion will increase, if refused relations will get worse. The Katzenartig Imperium will do other things such as they will be building Katzen War Forges above habitable planets which harvest resources to spawn new Katzen ships. As they expand they are gonna build various terraforming kilostructure, substellar compressors, and orbital arcologies to extend their living space. They also have their own variant of the Event Horizon Offset Facility, allowing them to reach isolated systems and they will build Siegfried worlds which are smaller Maginot Worlds.
When Flusion reaches around 90 pops, the Kaiser will turn it into a Flusio-Arcology, which has improved districts producing even more resources for the Kaiser and there are various communication options in how to deal with him which shows his opinion which ranges between 4 and -3, if it reaches -3 the Kaiser will declare war on the player. To increase opinion from him you can send a diplomatic attache which improves your relations at the cost of reduced resource output. You can also trade with the Kaiser and purchase Katzen ships for energy credits. The more expensive ships you purchase, the more likely his opinion increases. You can also make land trades and sell some bordering systems. If select some of the following options the Kaiser will give you a price and by sealing the deal his opinion will increase and he won't make any demands for a year. If you reach his maximum opinion you may form an alliance if you agree to all of the Kaiser's conditions. You'll be obliged to help him in his conquests, and contribute naval capacity in exchange for his protection and cooperation. Aside from that you will no longer need to worry about land demands. However if his opinion drops, he might revoke the alliance, and once that happens you won't won't be able to renew it. Over time the Kaiser will seek to further increase the alliance's bonds, and disagreement will result in him kicking you out, severely harming your relations. If the alliance is continued, you'll get more benefits, in exchange for naval capacity. This process end with the Kaiser demanding annexation, effectively ending your playthrough.
You can go to war with them traditionally and/or you can overthrow the Katzenartig Imperium from within by backing multiple rebellion movements and sabotaging espionage operations but there are risks of the Kaiser becoming aware of operations to back the resistance groups. There are detailed options in the rebellion mechanics and events that might happen for how long the crisis continues.
If the Katzenartig Imperium exists for more than 30 years, Corrona will transform into a Corronian Worldcraft, and a horde of Corronian dragons that are going to target the Katzen, and later anyone in the galaxy. If the Imperium exists for over a decade the Katzen will develop a new type of spacecraft, capable of passing through defenses by hiding in subspace. If you destroy 15 of them a special project will be issued, which unlocks a starbase building to those vessels. Also after a decade, a new special project might be issued to study the kaiser moon's weak points. As a result, you'll get a bonus damage modifier. and a repeatable technology, which increases damage dealt to the Kaisen. The crisis can reach it's conclusion in outcomes. You can either invade or crack Flusion, or instead storm the Kaiser's pyramid and launch an uprising. Take into account that once you reach Jublio, the Kaiser moon will instantly head there, and if you destroy it, many diplomatic actions with the Katzen will be unavailable. A couple years later you may restore the moon and gain unique kaiser moon sections. If the Katzen lose their Attack Moo, they'll rebuild it from scratch. In all scenarios, the Katzenartig Imperium will be dissolved, with its remaining territory divided between successor states. Depending on the conclusion of the crisis these successor states will have different event chains. Such as one where if you destroy Flusion the rebels will be mad and if the Roqualian Republic, Laurandar, and the Kronk Realms exist, a Martial alliance between will form. If you conquer Flusion the Flusio-Arcology will be in ruin, the Roqualians will demand autonomy on the planet and an event chain will be initiated where you will have to find the kaiser. If you instead storm the pyramid there will be a different event chain that could end with a civil war breaking out and the winner will reunite the kaisar's empire under his banner.

I think the ODSTs can survive through Republic Commando, but not the Clone Wars itself. Their weapons would be effective against the more common B1 and OOM-Class battle droids, and to a moderately less yet relatively effective against B2 Super Battle Droids. However, the ODSTs would have not any real success against dealing with Droidekas as they are known for being capable of mowing down multiple squads of Clone Troopers. Most of the equipment used by ODSTs would be rendered useless as the Droideka's shields are designed to reflect and resist any high-velocity physical objects.
The only real ways for one to take down a Droideka the easiest way is if they slowly rolled a frag grenade through the shield, if they figure that one out. After all there's saying "The slow blade penetrates the shield" and this speaks true for Star Wars. Other ways to take it down is to overheat the shield and that is by continuing to shoot at it, which would result them consuming vast amount of ammo to take it down and to take the Droideka itself out.
Against Magna Guards, Commando Droids, and all other types of Droids used by the Separatists throughout the Clone Wars, they stand little chance. It is true, Delta Squad did barely able to take one out each time, at worst, they can only handle no more than 2 Magna Guards, any more would easily decimate them.

If they stashed covenant weapons, like plasma rifles, pistols, and beam rifles, it would help them out a lot to deal with shielded enemies like that. Restricting them to just box art weapons doesnt seem right and that isnt how Halo's gunplay goes.
Also it isnt like marines in Halo have not been seen using alien weapons, and why wouldnt you stash covenant weapons to use for later? They hijack a phantom of all things and know how to pilot it.

    • @StarEximus
      @StarEximus Месяц назад

@@Le_pakg4468 You need heavy firepower, which all those you mentioned pretty much fit the criteria. As I mentioned, a Droideka's Shields can get overheated if it is keeps getting shot at after a while. Especially if its fed a barrage, it can only sustain so much before it can down. Rockets would be heavy-hitting as they explode upon contact, they would probably be able to kill it in the process even if they are up, as its shield generator would also implode, which itself would kill the Droideka too since it wouldn't be able to do anything if it gets directly struck in contrast to when it is constantly fired upon with conventional weapons since it would lower it shields before it would overheat and implode the generator in that situation.
A 120mm is artillery, I would say that's quite an overkill, the shields would just instantly burst along with the Droideka upon direct impact I believe. The Droideka itself is not durable anyways, as I mentioned before, a well and slow rolled grenade through a shield could easily kill it. It's the shield that is more durable than the one using it.

@VaporShiroVTuberCh Covenant weapons would do no more damage to Droideka shields than any kinetic weapons. Shields in Star Wars aren't like shields in Halo. They're not more susceptible to energy weapons than kinetic weapons. They can absorb basically all types of weapons with the same efficiency. While their limited firepower means it might not make a difference, the ODST's SMGs would actually probably be their best bet, as shields in Star Wars are generally most susceptible to large quantities of continuous fire. So ODSTs switching off firing with their SMGs would be their best bet at taking down Droideka shields, though again, even that would probably only be marginally effective at best. You best Droideka by getting around their shields, not by punching through them.

@@dr.veronica6155 Okay, first off Covenant weapons like the Plasma Rifle are literally reverse engineered Forerunner tech.
If the Forerunners were up against the Separatists, the seps will lose in a bloodbath.
The plasma rifle is a directed-energy weapon that uses superheated ionized gas as ammunition. The weapon's inner workings are comprised of several components, including a power cell that keeps the weapon active, powers the magnetic containment field, and carries out the firing cycle. The weapon has a power output of 100-150 KV @ 2~3 dA, and can fire between 360 and 540 rounds per minute.
The lethality of the Type-25 Directed Energy Rifle is extreme. Injuries inflicted on a victim are severe third-degree burns, this type of injury destroys the outer layer of skin and the entire layer beneath; the wound is cauterized instantly upon impact.[11][12] Body fluids would be subjected to flash vaporization, inducing a strain or a shock on the body after impact,[13] fluids trapped in organs or arteries in addition to the rapid expansion of heat would cause ruptures or small explosions causing additional damage to the target. At close range two bursts from the Type-25 DER have enough thermal transfer and kinetic energy to pass through victims with ease.

I would side with the Flood. Their eldritch nature is alot more versatile for warfare and logistically and strageically suited for adapting to the fog of war and combat and intelligence gathering then the Necromorphs and once the outbreaks grows larger the Flood's vast skill set of abilities begins to rapidly advance and expand then the Necromorphs. And another thing that rules in favor of the Flood is that they don't rely upon solely dead flesh to assimilate it gives them a faster expotential spreading rate then the Necromorphs.

One thing I'll say is that, when it comes to the hacking issues, I could see somebody giving them a pass by saying something like they were given an R2 unit to help them hack whatever needed to be hacked since they didn't have their own tech specialist to do it. Delta didn't need one because they had a guy for that, but maybe the Republic higher-ups saw fit to give the ODSTs one since they would need it. Ultimately, I agree with the conclusion you came to.

For scenario A: the biggest issue is Ammo. The Star Wars blasters have much smaller packs and generally carry more (lore vs gameplay debate). This would mean Alpha would have much heavier packs. Or travel light limiting their ammo.
They’d also likely specialize their gear for each mission. So while possible it’s an uphill battle.
For Scenario B: They pick up Covenant weapons, analyze enemy computers, drive alien vehicles, I’m sure looting equipment moves them from possible to probable.
As for the hacking: Why not? If the Republic was giving them missions they in theory would give them a way to bypass.

after light browsing, I don't think anyone has mentioned it, but forgive me if I'm mistaken.
however, iirc if I'm remembering my lore and ballistics correctly, halo weaponry has more energy transfer and far more stopping power than blasters tend to, with their draw back being the amount of ammo they can carry. to the point "slug throwers" being the mandalorians' answer to jedi.
and since most halo weapons use jacketless, that kinda becomes moot, especially for operations like what you went through. so I absolutely give the ODSTs the edge.

Even caseless ammo is jacketed in steel . Hence the FMJ part of the ammo types. FMJ meaning full metal jacket. And AP meaning Armor Piercing.

A single magnum with a single clip can take out 12 enemies, and if they’re dropped in with a reserve ammo supply then that’s 60. Four odsts with only magnums could honestly probably conserve ammo enough to be effective against a small droid squadron (not head on ofc)

Iirc, the SRS-99 series of rifle uses 14.5mm ammunition as stated by a couple wikis, basically Russian .50 Cal rounds. Only somewhat larger, but around 2x the power of .50 BMG.

  • @JD-rz5mo
    @JD-rz5mo 11 дней назад

The SRS-99 line of rifles uses a standard 14.5×114mm round. This is far larger than most anti-material rifles used today, which are usually (not universally) 12.7×99mm. This is in conjuction with the fact that the ammo is far more advanced than most anti-material rifle rounds used today, with the most common munitions being APFSDS round.

    • @John2r1
      @John2r1 10 дней назад

History lesson the 14.5x114mm round is a Russian heavy machine gun round that was developed for use in anti-tank rifles like the PTRD and PTRS in World War II, later used in Anti-Aircraft and Vehicle-Mounted roles with the KPV; it remains in use to this day.
So it was originally an anti-tank round in WW2. Now it's anti material. Only because real world tanks are a hell of a lot harder to punch through. Just like the 12.7x99mmm was designed as an anti tank round during WW1 and is now an anti material round.
So yeah that sniper rifle will 100% drop a droid during the Clone Wars and the next 20 behind it.
According to the trivia section on Halopedia. The closest equivalent to an anti-material rifle using an APFSDS round, akin to the 14.5mm one of the SRS99, would be the 15.2x169mm APFSDS utilized in the prototype Steyr IWS 2000, which was the first hand-held weapon to use such a round.
Yeah tungsten sabot at high velocity equals one less line of droids. Then again the 14.5×114mm HVAP high-velocity armor-piercing rounds are titanium jacketed depleted uranium rounds. Then there is always the explosive option 14.5×114mm HEAP (high-explosive, armor piercing) which explode violently on impact, doing a great deal of damage to the target. In any case I don't think those droids are going to be functional after a sniper hits them with this anti material round.
And this isn't even considering veteran ODST snipers like Lance Corporal Devon Spark who is an ODST assigned to the Spirit of Fire who happens to favor the M99A2S3 Stanchion Gauss rifle/ Coilgun sniper rifle. Which we both know is really an anti everything cannon. That fires a Tungsten sabot dart at Mach 43.6. Turning biological infantry targets into red mist or whatever color their blood is mist. in the case of material targets the round basically causes an explosion on impact and shatters the material around the impact area . Basically human sized hole in target. 100% that droid isn't getting up let lone repaired after that. I think i found a finger type situation. lol.
It is rather impressive how people who make these videos never consider that ODSTs might bring other weapons with them from the armory that better suit the mission objective.

Another thing that has to be kept in mind is that a lot of these armors in Star Wars are made to resist energy based weaponry. Ballistics, just as the SMG, will have a different result. I'm not saying that the bullets of the SMG could pierce through something like phrik, but it will definitely yield different results compared to the weapons the Republic Commandos used.
Ballistics, from my understanding in the Star Wars universe, were outlawed way before the time of the games and films, why we rarely see them.
But again, we are comparing two different sci-fi franchises, one of which has alloys that can withstand things like lightsabers, blasters, and cannon fire.

    • @John2r1

ODSTs are wearing exoskeletons and are actually augmented to be faster and stronger than normal humans. Clones only had their age accelerated. Which made them effective for the time but also not a long term solution.
ODSTs also are more experienced in combat than Clones including Delta Squad. Because the ODSTs don't have an age restriction and recruit from all other military forces special forces. So were talking the top 1% of all UNSC Special Forces with decades of combat experience thanks to the UNSC's use of cryogenics. Who are also slightly augmented and wearing a combat exoskeleton that further enhances their abilities. ODSTs didn't get the nickname Imps from the Covenant for nothing. Their first deployment against the Covenant was a slaughter. The ODSTs didn't lose a single man. And basically ran their nuts over the Covenant which are far more dangerous than a bunch of inferior droids with plasma based blasters
Also fun fact not mentioned in the video the ODSTs have tanks. The ODST version of the M808B Scorpion is a heavily armored , modified tank with a stealth grey armor that emits a low RADAR detection signature. A modified heavy main gun with dual recoil muzzle brakes to minimize muzzle blast for greater accuracy and stealth when firing. Yes it's still 90mm but it's a higher velocity cannon version. They also have access to modified M820 Scorpions for the added firepower of the M820's 150mm main gun.
So modified human soldiers in armored exoskeletons with a varied arsenal. They can also use various mechs as well. So ODSTs are actually better in every way compared to the Clones due to both equipment and experience.
Delta Squad was created in a lab but have training yet not a lot of actual combat experience. Training teaches the basics. War shows that the best laid plans go into the trash the minute the shooting starts. Clone Commandos got additional training from their brothers but that isn't a replacement for actual experience. So the ODST's have the experience and adapt ability to change tactics in combat. Not to mention higher end gear.
The Katarn-class commando armor isn't a bad armor by any stretch but it's also not a exoskeleton that enhances the users either. Also the Duraplast it's made of is protective up to medium grenades, Verpine shatter gun rounds, explosive slugs, stun rounds, and medium laser cannon rounds.
ODST armor is protective against high velocity impacts from projectile weapons and plasma based weapons such as blasters. Because well temp control layer plus Boron Carbide - Titanium composite armor plus balistic gel layer , plus thermal layers, plus exoskeleton made of Titanium-A makes for a lot of layers to burn through.
Boron Carbide is actually used in modern armor plates for body armor and has a melting point of 350°C (4260°F), making it one of the most heat-resistant materials available, second only to diamond and cubic boron nitride in terms of hardness and high-temperature stability.
Meaning those droids are going to have major problems getting through ODST armor. Much more than they have getting through Clone Commando armor.
So ODSTs being older than Clone Commandos . Have more real world combat experience than any clone commando. Also if your sprinting in combat it's from cover to cover. Now I will say this the Clone Commandos have far more patience than an ODST would have when dealing with a political appointee like a Jedi knight who has absolutely no actual no ideal how to conduct a war, trying to tell them how to do their job.
That Jedi who has no experience in actually commanding military forces let alone in real war would likely find him or her self waking up from being punched in the head without their lightsaber and inside a cell if they told the ODST's their plan was to attack across open terrain with next to no air support , no artillery and to do so by running across open terrain in formations like it's the 1700's on earth . It doesn't take a tactical genius to see the flaws in that plan. But because the Clones have inhibitor chips to keep them from telling whoever is placed in charge to take their half backed suicidal plan and shove it where the sun doesn't shine. Then pull out their own not suicidal plan. On Geonosis the Clones got massacred with thousands of clone troopers dying along with approximately 20,000 wounded in one battle. This alone proved that the Jedi were not fit to command the Clones.

Most of my nitpicks have already been stated, so I won't restate, but while some people have mentioned Virgil or Veronica for hacking, but I think an overlooked tool commonly in the UNSC arsenal is the Spoofer, known colloquially as the "Lockpick". While there may be some doubt as to letting them get access to certain systems through it, the spoofer, seen in action in the CE mission 343 Guilty Spark, is even capable of stabilizing and opening Forerunner doors. As they are then described as common fireteam equipment in CE's novelization, The Flood, it would be crazy to think Alpha-9 would be *without* them. Combine that with the general ease of UNSC troops getting Covenant equipment moving and operated by 2552 (Keyes piloting a Spirit, Alpha-9's Phantom, SSGT Johnson in the Scarab, etc), it isn't unreasonable either for them to be trained in working systems in Arakesh. Maybe it isn't a perfect solution, but it does show that even without enabling them allied or enemy weaponry, Alpha-9 has enough at their disposal to almost certainly be a match for Delta.

Chief is 7ft 2in tall. The tallest ODST known was 6ft 4in tall Most are 6ft to 6ft 3in. And 200 to 230 lbs before putting on their armored exoskeletons . Yeah the ODST Armor is an exoskeleton. Made of Titanium-A , Boron Carbide composite and a hydrostatic gel layer that acts as a part of the temp regulation system as well as padding and heat reduction layer. Keeping the ODST from being cooked during orbital drop and also disarming energy based weapons like plasma rifle fire or blaster fire. Meaning the ODSTs are durable in Star Wars. And there are also there are at least 4 division of ODSTs . Since they are based off the US Military Airborne each Division has between 10,000 to 15,0000 troopers. Or for all 4 known divisions that would be 40,000 to 60,000 troopers. That said there are likely more divisions, The US Army alone has 8 divisions which beefs that number up to 80,000 to 120,000 ODSTs We could further multiply this by every airborne unit on earth since the ODST's in Halo recruits from all branches and all military's Special forces and airborne forces of Earth's nations . So there units like the Russian VDV , Spetsnaz, United Kingdom's SAS ,SBS, etc. Meaning there are a lot of these troops even compared to the Clone Troopers.
The total UNSC Military is in the billions. If we went by the estimated 58 billion that has been reacently calculated the UNSC Military would number in at around 4,060,000,000 total troops. ODSTs are like the top 1% of that or about 40,600,000 Of course the Spartan Branch takes the top 1% of ODSTs leaving the branch with 405,959,4000 troopers as 1% of 40,600,000 is 406,000 recruits per year into the Spartan Branch. Due to strict requirements. Not saying they all become Spartans or survive for that mater. But that the Spartans take the top 1% of the top 1% of UNSC military forces which means they recruit mainly from ODSTs . So yeah the ODST's will be just fine it's a war against inferior droids. The ODSTs are use to fighting things that make Wookies look like children.

Tho they would have no answer for a C’tan shard or that weak super weapon that can destroy planets and stars on the map besides trying to take it or destroy it tbh. Besides that they are pretty even in tech maybe, both do atomize or ionize and have anti matter weapons.
      And Okay that’s fair.

Movie wise, yes, yes they could
Legends wise, no, if they get in a fight, especially with things like B2 which were walking tanks in legends, there done.

Except most ODSTs had training to use the Covenant weapons. Their used to switching to unfiniliar weapons and using them to at least a certain threshhold (equivalent of bare minimum to be considered prloficient) not to mention, republic plasma rifles are kinda like that one Covenant assault rifle.

the only major issue I have with this, is that it glosses over how Buck is pretty consistently depicted as using an MA5 Assault rifle rather than an SMG, with Mickey being shown to have access to the SPNKr as opposed to a magnum.
Basically, its not Romeo's Antimat and Dutch's Laser carrying most encounters, its everyone carrying the Rookie

I think it would've been nice if you had taken a bit more time analyzing each ODST's loadout and how competent they are in each mission or scenario. Some notable exceptions to weaponry are that Buck has an Assault Rifle, which is chambered in 7.62, and that Mickey has a rocket launcher in a few missions he starts in. Buck's AR makes him more viable in encounters with creatures and serves as more than merely a tickle against droids. Mickey's launcher makes him so much more of a threat against droids and vehicles, and iirc he's the one who flies the phantom near the end of the campaign, so I think hacking is something he's familiar with. As someone else mentioned, Rookie is entirely focused on stealth and espionage, but since he is also controlled by the player he is about as close to a spartan as the average human could become. In the section where each member is isolated, I think that Buck fairs the worst simply due to his weaponry and that Rookie is a giga chad when alone. The clone commandos, at least Delta Squad, aren't particularly known for being stealthy, so it could stand to reason the ODSTs could sneak past the B2s.
Lastly the Magna guards are probably on the same level as an unarmored spartan in terms of speed from what the footage shows, but you cant outrun the speed of light or a bullet. Dutch with a spartan laser, Mickey with a rocket, Romeo with an antimaterial rifle, and Buck and Rookie peppering at it is too much for a singular Magna guard imo. Also alpha team was able to tag team and take down a brute chieftan, so although highly risky, they could have a solid chance. That's not even including the giant wookie there the Magna guard has to deal with.

just wanna say, you have to remember the Star wars universe fazed out projectile weapons for plasma ones, and as logic states, without the threat of dealing with projectiles, their armor will in turn faze out heavy armor for lighter armor that has the ability to absorb the heat from blaster fire, and with that logic, any projectile weapon will go through them like a knife through butter

If we're assuming they have enough ammo for their weapons, this means they came to the universe with this ammo, so they had prior knowledge. If they were requested to come to this universe OR they were tasked with exploring some rift in space time that led here, which would mean they've prepared for the trip giving a good reason for having the ammo necessary, the UNSC would probably give them a lower level advanced AI to accompany them for intel gathering (analyzing this unknown world) meaning they could learn about other universes which would be a breakthrough. Of course they'd want an ai to accompany the team in order to record every possible detail.
This AI might be able to assist with those hacks they otherwise lack the ability to complete. Sure, it might take a little time for the AI to connect to and understand the systems, but they tend to be robust and they are able to transfer wirelessly by the time of Halo 2 anyway (limited but any connection like between Chief's hand, the pedestal and the bomb on Cairo) so yeah likely the AI could enter and exit the systems with a little understanding.
In the other universe where they don't have the ammo and they are left to scavenge for or utilize other weapons, in combat they may be better off depending on available weapons, but this is more likely to be following a sudden transfer to the universe meaning they haven't PREPARED for the trip, so no AI and likely less chance to actually complete the missions. Only caviate would be, similar to the ODST's being provided some basic equipment for a lengthened space walk (since the other team gets provided that stuff anyway it's only fair), they may be given some basic hacking tools that could assist in the job. With Mickey's explosives experience he may be able to get basic training regarding it, I mean since he was already able to pilot a phantom through simulations he might be able to pull that off.
And even if the first scenario with unlimited ammo does happen, they would still get briefed about the mission and if their weapons aren't deemed fit for certain expected enemies, they'd probably supply them with things such as that blaster grenade attachment anyway. Again if the other team is provided with these things then it's only fair to assume the same treatment is given to Alpha. AI is just a bonus through what I can imagine the UNSC would do when given prep time.
Also side note, Rookie's strength is tracking, so he may be supplied a dmr (as an equivilant of the carbine from the game, and it would exist in the universe) for mid to long range hunting to account for this, mix that with the trusty smg and you got yourself a weapon that may be able to pierce through the joints on the heavier droids. Also buck had the ar and ar's typically have strong power for something with a higher firerate, so even though the damage was halved from Halo 3 to odst, lore wise it'd be strong enough to damage joints with controlled bursts of fire like the dmr.

I think if you give them an assault rifle (because buck has one in odst) and give them the benefit of the doubt for hacking (they were able to talk to the engineer) they could make it, but it's a stretch
