- In this Ghost of Yotei trailer breakdown & gameplay news update video we breakdown the brand new Ghost of Yotei trailer and discuss the brand new gameplay, open world, and story details that were revealed thanks to a PlayStation Blog article and New York Times article. I really hope there is at least one big Urban Area. At least One City would be enough.
Yes ! One major city and multiple bustling villages/towns. This was missing from GOT and was justified by the backdrop of war. I would have loved to see places like Komatsu and Azamo bay when they were populated. Even just seeing travelers and caravans moving around from town to town that you can interact with dynamically would be great.
Probably, the only possibility for a larger urban area would be Hakodate, about 190km South of Yotei, which was the main Japanese settlement and fort in the land of the Ainu people.

It's giving me massive Blue eye samurai vibes, and im absolutely loving it ! Imagine how cool it would be if UBI had their shit together with AC shadows and we would have these two Japan settings to fully explore and immerse ourselves in.
The last of us will always be my favorite video game of all-time and will always be the greatest video game ever made but after playing ghost of tsushima its my second favorite game of all-time and the second greatest video game of ever made. So i have high hopes that ghost if yotei will be 3rd on the list because it does look awesome and another minor thing i like about ghost of yotei is that it's going to have wolves instead of the chow chow looking dogs. I can't wait to get this game next year. 💯💯💯
9:31 They made the smartest choice by focusing on “Ghost Of...” and not on Jin Sakai, with this decision the expanded the IP and they won’t be bonded to a specific character like SMS with Kratos in GOW or ND with Nathan Drake in Uncharted.

Nothing wrong with a female character, as long as it follows a formula similar to Lara Croft, Nier, Stellar Blade, Bayonetta, etc. and not Ellie and abby from Last of Us, Nicole from Dead Space remake, Rey from Star Wars, or Captain Marvel from Captain Marvel. Doesn't help the VA for Atsu is a radical leftist and is blocking anyone with any form of criticism on X (Twitter). Also Jin Sakai is one of the most beloved characters in the Playstation catalog. Replacing him with another character is somewhat like replacing Master Chief with Spartan Locke (Halo franchise). I'll give Sucker Punch a bit of a benefit of a doubt but it is possible this game will be ideology driven. Look how Concord, Forspoken, Saints Row, Redfall, Dragon age: Veilguard, and Starfield ended up. There is a chance GoY will end up like them

I'm playing like my 7th playoff now, this time on PC so I have to 100% everything again. It's worth it.
Looking forward to this 52 hr into Ghost on my first playthrough. Would love for SP to try their hand at a 3rd person Cyberpunk was very disappointed with that first person monstrosity we got from CDPR , but that is the future.

Sucker punch is going to deliver another masterpiece of a game, can't wait. I trust they will give us the best of the best of this game and games in years to come. The trailer already looks amazingly awesome. I'm sure it's going to be game that is played for its role of just being a game that we always wanted. To make us feel like we are the pratogonist in the game. It will be exciting.
I'm only worried about one thing and it's lip sync for japanese voices which was bad in the GoT, but after seeing the trailer I'll preorder 100%

What makes the edo period interesting and Hokkaido, is the introduction of Europeans to Japan. There is a port city on the island of Hokkaido that was 1 of 2 places the Europeans were able to trade. I don't know when exactly this port was established, but it would be interesting to explore if they do it in this game or games in the future.
Atsu has a musket. I'm not sure how Japan got firearms, whether it was from China or Europe.

I'm fine if the gun replaces the long bow. It should still have a short bow for quicker attacks. Nobody wants to deal with loading gunpowder and pellets here consistently. And I really don't want the guns to take away from the amazing sword combat they made. Guns also aren't quiet so it's a weird inclusion for a character that goes in stealth to tackle hordes if enemies. We shall see how it's implemented.

So glad they leapt to the Sengoku period, as much as I liked Tsuhima I always thought it wasn't the optimal period or setting for the concept. Finally got a reason to ditch the PS4 for a 5, amazed it's taken this long.
The Sengoku period has been over for about 30 years at this point, this is the first year of the Edo period under the Tokugawa shogunate.

the best thing on this would be... the setting is on Ezochi (as hokkaido is not part of japan until meiji restoration period) and from trailer it is 1603 which the start of Tokugawa Ieyasu (Tokugawa Era).
The trailer says that people goes north (Ezo) vanish, so it gives me the glimpse of the story on that short trailer.
*protagonist has polished nails, thus meaning she presumably from a warrior class/noble class and probably might be used for political marriage but she didn't like it thus pushing her to became a ronin.
The unexpected in a very predictable world is a blessing. I'm always up for shaking things up and doing something different. Hokkaido is perfect. Having impactful decisions on the story though is another thing. Many have tried... I wish them luck, because if they pull that gameplay aspect off at this level, congrats to Suckerpunch. Not an easy task, but I hope they're successful.

Things that are exciting to me is the local story and a true ronin protagonist! I gotta say, i don't like when open world games have a backdrop of war as it justifies making desolate game worlds where most of the dynamic interaction is relegated to fights with roaming enemies that spawn around the corner. I love that it's not a war so there's hope that it will be bustling with npcs in populated villages/towns and dynamic interactions. I would like one major city and also would love an expansion to combat with more varied combos as well as special moves for every stance. Stuff like that would be great!

Im excited for this, was wishing for a jin sequal, but what there doing is still amazing, I love the idea of people taking up the ghost legend, but I would like after this, making a jin sequal showing him exspand the ghost legend and a ghost clan with the second mongol invasion and the shogun hunting him, that would be incredible.

I think I'm also most excited to see what the stealth is like. I didn't notice a tanto on Atsu in the trailer. Just a second katana. Will she use that in her stealth kills? Does she have a tanto, as well? What encourages her to that brutality of sneaking around, like the Mongols had done to Jin? Super intriguing to think about.
The reason she uses two swords is probably because she uses the fighting style of Miyamoto Musashi who was very famous for creating the duel wielding fighting style.

Very much looking forward to this. It’ll be interesting to see how the Ainu are integrated into the story. This is set just after the Ainu won concessions from the Japanese government concerning trade in 1550, after a hundred year war, and prior to when Yoshihiro Kakizaki (Matsumae clan) was granted exclusive rights to trade with the Ainu by the Shogunate in 1604. Not a big fan of dual wielding swords as it just seems so inferior, losing the power of the rear hand and the control of the forward hand (for twice the lack of power and control).
The reason she uses two swords is because she probably uses Miyamoto Musashis fighting style. Also I imagine the Matsumae will the be the main antagonists of this game.

😒After playing the expansion pack I got worried about this series future🤔 A female protagonist is simply REDICILIOUS...women lack the upper body strength to compete with males in bladed combat especially😃😂 Females fought heroically with spears and naginatas defending structures but in open warfare vs men they would be DEAD MEAT... I heavily suspected they would destroy these games with DEI and fantasy garbage as your experience in the game went from gritty reality to silly fantasy as you would up ultimately fighting an old lady who did kung fu arial spins with her magical wooden staff🤔😒😂
