Is it just me, or did performers seem much classier back at this time? They had amazing dance moves and made everything look so easy after actually practicing for several hours a day. This was really nice to watch. Thank you for sharing it.

@@au7-721 I agree. They leave little to the imagination and their language is horrible. There are still good entertainers who have class and grace, but they are few and far between.

Strongly disagree. I like the Sylvers aw
S much as anyone who hit my teens when this was a hit, but the dance moves are pretty basic, nothing I couldn't learn in half an hour, and while I love to dance and have rhythm, I'm an amateur.
BTS is easily ahead of them in terms of practice and smoothness. I'm sure Lil Nas X makes y'all clutch your pearls, but his dancers are absolutely amazing.
As for classy, this was fashion at the time, a 1920s revival with some glam rock influence and some Black is Beautiful vibes. Plenty of classy performers in the charts right now, as I wrote this, Adele is #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, she's not exactly known for profanity and leaving nothing to the imagination.
People at the time were as freaked about afros as current oldsters now are about man-buns. Everyone needs to be happy that they can stay in the past of they want to, but when you say how there are no classy performers who practice now, you just show yourself to be out of touch.
Good music lasts, a look at any weeks' pop charts will show some stuff that thankfully disappeared. People want to remember the 1970's for fun stuff like this, but Disco Duck was also an international hit that year, as was Shake, Shake, Shake Your Booty, Muskrat Love and Rod Stewart seducing a "virgin child" in Tonight's the Night.

Public schools need to stop their ridiculous racist policies first.
Many schools, especially in the South, have "outlawed" natural hairstyles for black students because they consider them "distracting". The cute guy that sat behind me in Math class could have doubled as a shade tree (lol). He was an honor student and star athlete, and very popular.
We called him "Cubbie", but the rest of the world knows him as Everson Walls...
Hall of Famer and Dallas Cowboy legend! I don't think his hairstyle held him back at all!

We went to a dinner theater once to see Jerry Mathers and Tony Dow in a play, both are rather short. We got autographs after the show, and Tony Dow cracked us up.
He looked us up and down and whistled, then said, "Wow! They told me everything was bigger in Texas! Are you two going to breed a basketball team?"
Tony grew to be a very handsome man... then there was Jerry. Um, he seemed nice though!

James "D. Train" Williams was born in Brooklyn and began music at the age of six in church choirs and school. "D. Train" is the nickname he was given when he was young, within his football team, because of the power of his game. In the 1980s, the group released hits such as Keep On and You're the One For Me (1982) or Keep Giving Me Love, Music and Something's on Your Mind (1983)

I was 12 when this came out. I remember it was a huge song but I don’t recall much about them afterwards. They didn’t seem to last like The Jackson’s or The Osmond’s or I just didn’t keep up with them. The 70’s & 80’s were fun times for music though. You just needed your 8 track player or later on the cassette tape and life was good. LOL!!!!!

The guys were my "hair idols" back in the 70's..LOL I saw them live in Oakland Cal. After that - I had one of the biggest afros in high school. Lol Whats amazing to me is they sound perfect, and their harmonies are excellent - even while doing dance steps. There's no groups or bands out there today that can sound that good live or in studio.
