Pivots have always fascinated me because it doesn't feel that natural to me when shadowboxing or working a bag. Hopefully this drill will help out over time. Thanks coach
Bro i know me too, but now in quarantine it's actually fun when you get the hang of it and when you have a mirror to practice on. I saw a video on Mike Tysons footwork that helped me grasp the ideal form and speed. In a fight this is probably the technique and skill that helps you land the punches you want.
One thing that helps is to play tag with a kid 3-5 years old without turning your back to him. Just face him and move backwards, left-right and pivot. He will move forward faster than you can move backward in your stance and that will force you to move left right and pivot. Also, when you pivot, think about the movement bull fighters use to get out of the way of the bull. Hope this helps!
Absoluto Fighting Center that makes complete sense...when a child is closing in on you you will naturally do a pivot. Never thought about it like that.
I am a 48 year old athlete, mainly cycling and running competitively for the last 2 decades. As I have gotten older, I find myself intrigued with boxing. Boxing in the sense of foot work, speed bag, heavy bag etc. I understand that I am much to old to climb in the ring, even while being at peak shape for my age, the risk far outweigh the gains and it is just is not feasible. However, after a year of getting really good at all the footwork that goes with jumping rope etc, I find myself getting better with footwork during my bag workouts. It is a fun way to bring something new to my daily work out schedule without a heavy risk of injury and also provides an entertaining workout. While I most likely will never climb in a ring, by daily jumping rope using the various types of jumping while also spending time on the bag, the footwork is starting to connect more. By watching these videos truly helps me incorporate this to my workouts. I would highly recommend anyone looking to mix it up a bit or who may be tired of the same old workouts, pick up boxing. If you are like me and finding it later in life, it is still, very challenging and fun. Plus, Once I transition to my BOB, I instantly become..... IRON MIKE TYSON! I crush BOB! Yes, I know, he doesn't hit back, but that's what I like at 48 years old lol. This coach is great, he makes it a lot easier. Thank you.
These drills are masterfully explained - and something you can go back to again and again throughout your training. I do, helps me keep my movement sharp. Much luv for the vid.
I know Floyd sr and Jr. And all the Roaches. But you are my favorite boxing coach. Glad I found your channel again. I still watch the Rock the Box like Tyson video. And I show people my video of practice, and they can't believe the speed I throw at. But I learned the balance from you. Motivated again!
0:46 After 1,2 you must do a baby step with your left leg to the left of your opponent then make the pivot or rotation, try it with a friend, a column or a tree and you will understand.
Been watching your videos for about 6 years now, thank you for years of A+ content. Your knowledge has made me a far better boxer than I would have been.
Coming from a TKD Background, these videos really help me become a better overall fighter. I've got your basic punching drills down now, and thought 'I might start adding pivots and slips now'. Happy coincidence, can't wait to try it out. Thank you for video drills, it truly helps me to get through this time 👍🏻
Punching off the pivot is old-school and is seldom seen taught ! Great great video Its all about this bogus strength conditioning now! Not saying it does not have its positives
Precision Striking seriously my man you are the best boxing channel online! The subscapularis issue i had very bad you fixed it! But this pivot video is a basic must for every fighter! Without it forget boxing! Great video bro keep up the sweet science vids
Always top quality in your videos mate! They’re keeping a lot of us going while the gyms are closed during this lockdown. Be honest though, were you an early 90s MC Hammer breakdancing kid? Haha
Footwork is so underrated. Almost more important than anything else is boxing...fighting period.
@AwkPatata true
@@thenameofthegame4037 BIG FACTS💪🏿
Boxing begins with the feet and legs. All great fighters have great footwork. In the ring you never want your legs to be gone. Your a sitting duck.
Willie Pep. Google him.
Proper footwork is proper groundwork, proper grounding is good power and speed blended to perfection
2:58 you got some swag, coach.
The Bolt Thrower you see it 😂
That dance move was legit🔥🔥

@@bfazo8877 i literally was scrolling down to see your feedback bro😄.

That leg drop was classic 😂😂 good vid coach !
thank you soooooooo much man, i was scouring the internet for a good drill that's simple and touches the fundamentals
my guy, locking and popping mid boxing sesh! love it!
Fighters with good footwork are always the best. I've been working a lot on mine
This is great. Footwork is the most undertrained skill in almost all combat sports yet it is usually the marker between an armature and a pro.
The best demonstration of pivoting I've seen
These drills are masterfully explained - and something you can go back to again and again throughout your training. I do, helps me keep my movement sharp. Much luv for the vid.

If you wanna dislike then don't watch! as simple as that...Left hook- uppercut🥊 DIP & pivot.
Thanks for the great content! I just wish I had a real coach like you. 👏👍🙏🙂🥊😀
There is a lot of gold here but The hips orientation setting you up for the natural pivot direction just blew my mind…

As a TKD practioner as well, I agree footwork is sooooo beneficial since most of the matches rely on a linear advance and retreat.
Thanks coach
