- In this video I show you the best option to tap/splice into your 12v keyed ignition power on your YXZ to send power to relays, lights, and other accessories. I also show you the best way to tap/splice into your tail light wiring for functional brake pedal signal to power chase bars or auxiliary brake lights.

Finally getting ready to install my rugged radio / intercom. This video was huge for me. Thanks brother!!!!!!!!
Awesome glad it will help!
Thanks for this one as well... Everytime I received new parts for the Blue 🔵 Hellboy, I refer back to your series... Keep em coming, confidence is building 😱
Thanks!
Thanks man. I’m really trying to make some useful videos.
You're certainly qualified and logical enough to make any higher end video as well however there's a real need for those beginning and those coming back to such as myself the sport... Well I used to be qualified and rather aggressive I find myself seeking technical council more often these days :-) keep the stuff coming as you can
If the chae lights are connected to the brake light circuit wouldn't the chase lights only light up when you press the brake pedal or are the brake lights turned on with a different circuit?
It’s a different circuit. The chase bar draws its main power from the battery. There are two sections of lights that are activated by the signal from the wires that tap into the brake lights.
Hey boss hope hoping you can help me out. I have a quick connector wire that’s in the front right behind the bumper area. I’m not sure what that goes to maybe a winch or lights but can you help me identify them if I could potentially send a picture
If you’re is a 2019+ it may be for the auxiliary headlights that mount in the front hood vent. They only come on certain yxzs. There should be two of those plugs. Here is what they look like
utvhq.com/yamaha-yxz-5w-front-mount-pod-lights-2019-and-newer/?gclid=Cj0KCQjwla-hBhD7ARIsAM9tQKu628Yac85BVlpNXM_fzVcqfmrNash63xLH6OEx3ph1F7VUZqeGF8oaAjn4EALw_wcB
Mine has those two connectors capped off because I don’t have the hood lights.
If you don’t think that is it you can send pictures in an email to filthyknobsoffroad@gmail.com
@@FilthyKnobsOffRoad ok ty
Do u need a relay and a circuit breaker or could u hood it up without those?
If you are talking about running a power wire directly from the keyed ignition harness to an accessory I don’t think that’s a great idea. I think you would probably blow the fuse for the 12v outlet. You want your power coming straight from the battery. The 12v Ignition power is just a remote wire to turn the relay on and off to send power to the accessory from the battery only when the machine is on. You don’t need a circuit breaker I just like it because I can switch it on and off if I need to. I would at least use a fuse if you’re not using a circuit breaker. You can run from the battery to a switch to the accessory without a relay but then it’s possible that the accessory could slowly drain the battery even when the switch is off.
@@FilthyKnobsOffRoad trying to wire up rock lights just by it going off/on by the ignition didn’t know if I could come from battery to the circuit breaker then relay?
@@FilthyKnobsOffRoad what accessory do u have running off your relay
Do you know where the fuse for the cigarette lighter circuit is? I think mine blew. Thanks.
I did the same thing. It’s in the center console above the battery and near the air intake. There should be a couple small fuse strips with labels. Should be in there.
I checked all of the fuses in the fuse block and they’re all good. I don’t think any of those are for the cigarette lighter plug. I’m unable to find the location of that fuse. Mine is a 2018 so it might be different.

@@FilthyKnobsOffRoad is this where you tapped into the power for you power socket (aka cig lighter near glove box). I wanna use that power feed to trigger my auxbeam to run off acc power but not sure if that’s a good tap. I have a 2022 and I don’t recall seeing fuses at the battery, mostly just relays.
Ps… love you content keep it up bro… those wire tap adapters are great too!!

Where did you get your chase bar ?
Thanks
It’s the Xprite 36” chase bar on Amazon

I have bought them on Amazon and eBay. I believe the links are in the description.
How can i tap in to the key ignition if i have everything connected to the battery with wiring harness?
You need to run the power from the battery to a relay or fuse box. The relay has power in from the battery, a ground, power out to your accessories and the ignition wire which is where you tap into the accessory outlet. The ignition will turn the relay on and off with your key which allows your accessories to turn on and off with the key so they don’t continuously drain your battery.
@@FilthyKnobsOffRoad so is it okay if the harness have relays and fuses and i can just connect it to the other big relay in the front and just ground the negative to the metal?
@@candelariogarcia5542 that’s what I have currently. I have lighted mirrors a light bar with the relay and fuse on a harness as you mentioned. I tied those into the large relay as well.
@@FilthyKnobsOffRoad perfect man thank you so much for the help.
One last question what gauge wire are you running from the battery to the relay?
@@candelariogarcia5542 man, I cant really remember. I think it was 8-10 gauge. I know I looked at a chart and went a bit higher than what I needed based on amperage of the relay.
new subscribers whats the relay name ?
I ran from the battery with some real short wires to this circuit breaker:
