The first time I saw this clip I thought it was even more kooky than the average Hollywood musical number - the women incorporated into abstract trees (?), the floor covered with a layer of fog - till I realized by the very last shot that this was supposed to be Danny dreaming.
Dinah & Danny are gone & greats like these can't be followed. That's why there's so much schlock today. There's simply no one who can do what they did.
can't believe Dana Andrews was in this movie, a musical? What part did he play in the movie, did he sing? I missed this movie on TCM, i'm not a big fan of Danny Kaye and probably skipped this movie but if i knew Dana Andrews was in it I would've watched to see what part he played in it, it's not the usual genre he was in during the 40s.
This is smokin' JAZZ, pure & simple. One of the "heppest" numbers I've ever seen. Danny's great, & Dinah's her usual phenomenal self. And Max Steiner's band is SMOKING!
Not only the best version of this song, but one of the greatest musical numbers I've ever seen, and I'm 71 and have seen thousands.
Danny Kaye is just the BEST.... EVER!!!
Dinah was such a powerhouse. Miss her so....
i caught myself singin this in the shower the other day. i just love it. RIP Danny Kaye, we miss you
Danny was a cutie and unmatched in talent

His Real Life was rather sad. Let's Just remember his Wonderful Movies!
Well, Dinah certainly held her own with Danny Kaye -- not an easy feat!

This is Danny kayes film debut
This is like watching an old movie on LSD, except the movie supplies the acid this time.
Haha yes this movie is a bit like a fever dream I love it
I can't believe that was the lyrics wow
they spitting! 🤣
funny
This is from the film Up in Arms.
Danny kayes first movie
Is this the Secret Life of Walter Mitty? I love this number👍
Up in arms
I weep for the current state of our culture.
Dinah & Danny are gone & greats like these can't be followed. That's why there's so much schlock today. There's simply no one who can do what they did.
WOW...THAT IS VIRGINIA MAYO HOLDING THAT BLACK WHATEVER IN THE BACKGROUND...
can't remember what movie this is from!?
Up In Arms.
Up in arms

Dana Andrews was in the musical State Fair with Jeanne Crain.
Whats the name of this genre ?
Jive.
This is smokin' JAZZ, pure & simple. One of the "heppest" numbers I've ever seen. Danny's great, & Dinah's her usual phenomenal self. And Max Steiner's band is SMOKING!
@Jim Stark Bye
I'd call it Bebop.
Lyrics???
I love this scene ( check out my RUclips freestyle video: RAMON HART'S PERFORMANCE OF A LIFETIME ).
Dinah got a lot hotter in middle age when she was hanging out with Burt Reynolds.
