    4:19 of note a big difference between the gatling and MG turret is fact the gatling does not wind down between target switching. This could result in the lovely 180 gun swings pumping lead everywhere where the MG only shoots at targets

    I posted this on another one of your videos, but its useful to remember for your slower turning turrets like the Autocannon and the Rocket sentry, that when the turret deploys, it will be facing in the same direction as YOU were facing when you threw your strategem ball, this has been the difference between a turret eradicating a mob and getting overrun by it for me.

    EMS is the best sentry in the game. Nothing else creates space like it. It performs a role nothing else can. There is no need to stay and fight trash. There is no fear in it pulling a patrol … because you can leave before that’s an issue.
    Drop it to create space. Never use it offensively.
    You can walk from one side to the other in 3 dives. It’s not a big deal. Though … obviously avoid the blue cloud.
    You don’t use an orbital rail cannon to take out a small unit. Each strategem has a place and a use.
    I use EMS in difficulty 7-9 (I’m level 48). My total kill count is often in the 600’s. I still bring EMS instead of something else to get more kills.
    It’s support. Support is less exciting than other stuff. It’s hugely valuable. If you’re doing full clear you can’t keep fighting trash. This saves time by making it easier to move to the next target.

    • @PhaseShifter
      @PhaseShifter  6 месяцев назад +8

      I'm the same as you, I never leave without either EMS mortar or Orbital EMS. It's the first thing I pick every time!

    • @PatrickMartinez1
      @PatrickMartinez1 6 месяцев назад +2

      Bro, what is your Loadout and tactics that you're getting 600 plus kills a game. I've never seen anybody go farther than in the 400s. And usually that's because they are using a hord clear setup like grenade launcher and supply pack.

    • @zero11010
      @zero11010 6 месяцев назад +15

      @@PatrickMartinez1 breaker. Light armor with med upgrade (stim often. 4 seconds of near invulnerability is huge).
      Railgun for heavies.
      EMS sentry or Orbital railgun for heavies.
      Rover for hordes.
      Napalm or eagle air strike for hordes.
      If a breach shows up napalm it. Don’t use napalm on robots because you’ll miss out on the slow effect from the burn (robots shoot so slow matters less). Eagle air strike has more uses than napalm (lair, building, breach/ drop, it’s also very good against armor … napalm is better when used purely for a breach).
      Be on the front lines at all times. Be mobile at all times.
      Rover does a lot of the heavy lifting. It’s broken as shit. Very OP and needs a nerf.
      Always push the front forward. Never stay and fight if it’s trash (do lairs/factories/sub-onbjectives). I don’t farm kills. Kite things as needed. Rover will dish out punishment as you run. Jumping into giant lairs is a great source. Drop a supply around the edge as you run in for additional grenades. Jump in and close 4 holes. Run out to get more grenades, or clear to make room for others to close holes with their grenades).
      Always drop air strikes on breaches or when drop shop arrives. If those are on cooldown then use a grenade.
      Accuracy matters. Things you can quickly take out with breacher … do. Things that require a single railgun do that. Chargers should be 2 rail shots and about a half a mag of breacher. Hulks are a single rail shot to the face or about a mag or breaker to the back. Each time a thing shows up you need a rapid solotuon. A single rail shot to the face of a spitter or the shoulder rocket guy.
      There are also more enemies on harder difficulty. I do full clear on 7-8 and mostly clear 9.
      EMS is bad to use offensively. It’s outstanding as support though (if I only focus on killing I feel selfish). Use it to break away from trash. Use it to lock down patrols and breaches. It’s great as a defensive tool, and to create space just after a rush to give a movement to resupply before moving on.
      You won’t be able to fully clear if you end up target fixated on trash. Achieve the goal and move on to the next target.
      If you pull a patrol kill it as quickly as possible. One to two shots eliminates the smallest things with the breaker. Switching to pistol is faster than a reload if there are only one or two remaining.
      Speed matters.
      I’ve never really farmed kills. I would like to get over 700 but I feel like I’d need to actually try, and that feels lame. I don’t want to put my team at risk to get a new personal record.
      Also, others start to feel bad if your kills are always super high.

    A note on the Tesla coil, from the couple times I have used it and from watching the video I have noticed bugs completely ignore the tower (If they are distracted by something else such as yourself) and dont intentionally go out of their way to attack it unlike the other sentries (unless the coil is the only thing they percieve) so if placed in the right spot chargers wont accidentally walk into them and it can wipe out whole bug breaches on its own (except the bigger bois of course). Not to mention it is effected by the emplacement upgrade that removes the call in time for emplacements entirely so honestly id put in in a minimum of B tier for bugs but it can definitely be in A or even S if used correctly
    For bots however from the few times Ive used it in defender missions the bots may intentionally attack the tower I will have to check that and in that case it would be C tier
    Edit: I just thought of a very powerful use case for this tower, you can use it as an opener into nests and groups of bugs, with the upgrade that removes its call in time it could be used like a much quicker and effective bomb by chucking it in a nest and letting it go to town, then once all bugs have been cleared you can just destroy the coil and enter at your leisure, of course it wont destroy holes but that would be a sacrifice I would take to prevent bug breaches, plus you could always bomb the nest afterwards
    Edit Edit: Was just thinking whats the real difference between the Rocket sentry and the Autocannon sentry and I just remembered, in the description of the rocket sentry it states it intentionally aims for the largest enemy out of the group making it more effective (supposedly) at taking out high priority targets. For this reason I think the Rocket sentry deserves to be in S tier with the Autocannon sentry.

  • @thugkermit9999
    @thugkermit9999 6 месяцев назад +3

    I’d still put the ems mortar at s tier just because it lets you identify and pacify targets anywhere in your near vicinity
    It helps immensely with crowd control and stunning larger targets like chargers for easy cleanup
    But even on higher difficulties it’s exceptional at hit and run strategies as you can place the turret and then run away from the hordes as it fires on them which make sure to give you a good head start
    It will often shoot at crowds and stunning them so effectively that you can kill them before they can call for backup, eliminating one of the major threats in difficulties 6 and above
    Plus and that’s the biggest plus it absolutely impossible for friendly fire with this thing the worst it can do is slow you down in a bad spot but you can still dive through the static cloud while all enemies nearby are massively debuffed there are so many advantageous situations where the ems mortal excels that I would never not run it

  • @aldosantin1485
    @aldosantin1485 4 месяца назад +1

    You were too nice on the ratings. I wouldn’t rate the machine gun sentry so high just because it runs out of ammo too often and whenever I unlocked all turrets I never once thought of picking them again. Ems sentry should be s tier just because it’ll never hurt to have one out. It slows an area yes, but proper placement can hold an area good in many situations. Autocannon I wouldn’t put so high just because unless if you have the lubrication upgrade, that thing turns way too slow leaving it very vulnerable, still A tier tho just because of how efficient it is at killing stuff. I also recently learned that a rocket sentry aims at bot dropships which is very interesting as none of the other turrets shoot that high.

    What might turn people away from sentries [besides their automaton-like behaviour of course] is that they are Support stratagems. They are meant to support you in your missions and your actions. You're not deploying another helldiver with pinpoint accuracy and logical reasoning. You are dropping down a machine that is naturally more limited. Deploy them where they are not attacked immediately, where they can fire freely and not be distracted easily.

    Id say that is a spot on list. Seriously the AutoCannon, slow to target as it may be, ITS JUST TOO GOOD! Also, its description states it has more Power and Range then the handheld one. Its meant to be a SNIPER cannon, kinda like the Railcannon turret from Helldivers 1. But oh GOD those PTSD enducing EVACUATION missions, their is no other sentry i would take with me. The Cannon just SHREDS everything besides heavy units (but thats what you bring guns and other things for). And oh BOY with the amount of Tinmen dropping on you, your ALWAYS gonna need a Bigger GUN.
    The Gatling turret VS MG turret is certainly one of those ETERNAL debates. They both do their job, one is just better then the other in one way or another. As for the Mortars, When they work THEY WORK GOOD! When they don't, you get a express ticket to DEATH. The TESLA Turret is still as Grate as it was in the first game, ESPECALLY vs the Terminids. But outside of THAT i really see no reason to bring it, since it will probably just get shot by the Automatons before it really gets to do anything.

    Yeah, good call on the Tesla. I use the tesla alot but almost exclusively on the missions where you need to defend a small area. It is a great area denial tool, just like minefields can be except it lasts longer than minefields typically since enemies cant blast a way through it. Placement can really matter, both so it doesnt kill teammates but also so enemies cant just easily destroy it. Somewhat behind cover can be great so that enemies cant just directly charge it or shoot it but have to come on to the other side of cover to trigger it.

    personally, i'd move both the machine gun and gatling down a tier level just to utilize the C tier, but otherwise agreed for the most part. a lone sentry is a wasted sentry, as all of them have some kind of weakness that must be compensated for by a player or a second (or third) sentry. their ability to draw patrols is imo indispensable at high difficulties because if you position correctly, it can draw forces away from objectives so one can easily sneak in, pick off stragglers and leave.

  • @emilior6097
    @emilior6097 6 месяцев назад

    I respect your opinion and your insights first off. However, I feel like ranking is situational for a game like this and makes it hard to give a true ranking system.
    Like Mortars (including EMS Mortar), Rocket Sentry, and maybe Gattling Sentry are GREAT for high level DEFEND missions.
    However in my opinion, Mortars have no place in main missions being used as you have mentioned that it tends to get people get killed more than really being useful especially if your team is getting swarmed at higher levels of difficulties.
    Main missions are even more situational. I normally take Orbital Laser, Orbital Rail cannon, Railgun, and last item varies depending on my team, if I go solo then its either Shield Generator Backpack or Jump pack. Also if I am doing a "Destroy Nests/Eggs" Mission then I may take the Grenade Launcher to get it done quicker without wasting grenades or walking too close to the large nest/eggs.
    Every mission is situational and each loadout should vary depending on what your teammates are bringing to the table along side of you.

    Rocket and EMS seem really useful for defense missions, especially against bugs. pair it with bunch of mortars and shredding begins.
    Perhaps pair EMS with Tesla and Rocket for bug mission...

    Autocannon and rocket turrets are both S tier to me the target discernment is the swaying factor to me because the rocket targets heavy enemies

    As completely expected and not surprising at all Autocannon is number 1. Saved ya’all 11 mins to find out what we already knew lol.

    Only thing i didnt like was your placement of the rocket sentry cause unlike the autocannon it targets the largest enemy first. Combine that with any other sentry to take out the smaller ones and its a pretty deadly combo

    • @Chromus505
      @Chromus505 6 месяцев назад

      if youre using a second turret to take out fodder enemies why not just run autocannon at that point, your argument is kind backwards lol

    • @j.fkennedydied4032
      @j.fkennedydied4032 6 месяцев назад

      In the video he says that the rocket was basically just an autocannon when it actually targets the big enemies which he said is the only problem he had with the autocannon also wdym by my argument is backwards just because I said that you can run it with another turret doesn't make my point any less valid

    • @Chromus505
      @Chromus505 6 месяцев назад

      @@j.fkennedydied4032 i say your argument is backwards cause if youre running a turret to solve the problem of fodder enemies then its no longer a issue for the autocannon meaning it no longer has the weakness that would make u favour the rocket sentry. Also the autocannon is way better then the rocket sentry at taking out armored enemies, the rocket sentry trades power for smart targeting.

    Sentries really can't be ranked like this. It's heavily mission dependent, difficulty dependent, and even dependent on your team's stratagem composition. If you're lacking in armor piercing weaponry, sprinkling in a rocket sentry or an autocannon sentry goes miles further than if everyone is boasting a railgun.

    Clever to cover up the mission tier with overlays, frankly these sentry turrets are useless in helldive as the AI instantly target and one shot them.

      You're looking too deep into it. I've seen this footage before on one of his older videos, this is background gameplay footage not a contextually specific showcase.
      I will agree that sentries use-case falls off on higher difficulties for the most part however. But think of it this way, due to their ammo and effectiveness the auto cannon, rocket and mortar sentries mathematically can kill more enemies and tanks than any railgun, orbital or eagle over a much longer period of time. All they need is some support and good positioning, just saying.

    • @viktorzolsar8873
      @viktorzolsar8873 6 месяцев назад

      The AI instantly target the turrets, it makes it more RNG than skill based since the turret placement can sometimes bounce and go completely off where you drop it. If the turrets had maybe triple the HP and could survive a charger slam we could have a use case for auto cannon and gatling in higher difficulties. The current implementation only sees the EMS mortar having any utility and even then it mostly aggros mobs that you should be avoiding.@@remixsparten98

    My problem with the tesla. Is it better against bugs. Because bots is just shoot it. And chargers just dont care about it and will one shot it. So it trash

    Ok, so I’m confused I thought this video was gonna be about damage, output comparing other sentries. Seems like the only thing are going off of is pure skill issue which is why the mortar should be higher up. It is not without a doubt the best sentry in the entire game. Next time go off pure stats instead of what the players are going wrong.

    Why is the machine gun turret only 1 teir below the Gatling when it's a direct upgrade both have no ammo? The machine gun is basically pointless as a guard drone does it's job better should really be in F tier at least the Gattling mows down an oncoming horde. The machine gun runs out before it even does that 0.o Granted... outside the mortars and autocannon the sentries are absolutely worthless... Overall this Tier list is fairly bad as you basically just crammed everything into the same tier with no reason given... *Stares at the rocket turrets targeting errors and consistent derpy behavior*

    While I always appreciate tierlists, your commentary ain't great, you sound more like a marketing person than someone actually reviewing with experience. I don't think you understand what tiers actually mean, if something is S tier, you'd potentially take it over anything else that can fill its slot, including airstrikes and other gear, ranking them only against each other is pointless.
    Talking about gatling/machinegun turret placement in choke points, why? Why would you waste all of its ammo in a spot that's going to be getting airstrikes, you should be using these turrets to prevent flankers from sneaking up on you, not used against the main hordes.
    Both mortars should be in B tier, they're only occasionally useful, the explosive is more likely to get the team killed on higher difficulties and the EMS pointless if you need to stay mobile, but can be powerful when you need to hold off waves, especially when paired together and placed next to each other (so they notice the same target at the same time).
    Machinegun Sentry should be C tier, it just doesn't have enough ammo or damage to be worth taking over anything else.
    Gatling sentry is solid A tier, but if you're using it the way you are suggesting in this video then it's B tier. You'll burn all its ammo if using it against the main horde.
    Rocket sentry is hard, when it actually works properly, A tier, but it feels super inconsistent, seemingly doing nothing to enemies that an autocannon would have already killed, then other times it's nearly instakilling big targets.
    Autocannon, yep, it's the absolute god of all turrets, worth taking in nearly all situations regardless of mission type, it's always useful.

    Everything is A tier sentry except the auto-cannon... weird vibes man, rocket turret can get more kills/use than the auto-cannon.
    It's more like:
    S EMS/Missile
    A Autocannon/Shield generator
    B Gatling
    C Machine gun/Tesla
    F Mortar, bringing the mortar turret is just trolling your team.

    they definitely need to rework some sentries cuz maxed out ship upgrades, some sentries freaking suck. especially when u realize that enemies can easily destroy the sentries. and the AI for the sentries are pretty ass. they wont prioritize the threat of a target. u would think the anti armor turret will focus on the armor enemies first or the machine gun focusing the trash mobs... no ur will have autocannons shooting trash mons while ur machine gun tries to shoot a charger. u have the targeting wonk out and it will flip flop between enemy units at times cuz it just shoots at whatever is closest but doesnt kills the target before moving onto the next. it shoots buildings and rocks. u would think the mortars will try not to shoot near allies just standing still at the very least...
