#2K #tipsandtricks #airbrush - Хобби
Probably the hardest working youtuber at sharing your experience and interests in hobby model painting
Totaly agree with that. He deserves way more Subs than he has now. All the tests he does, and the information he gives us to save here and there a penny. I would say that this channel is UNDERRATED by many outthere.
I definitely respect the man
I’ve been using Quick Shine awhile now. I have brushed and airbrushed with no real issues at all even over acrylic paints. It’s a nice cheap alternative.
I've always wondered how durable it was. Do you have to reapply or is it like a true clear coat, once and done? Thanks.
How well is it when it comes to tightening joints?
After applying Quick Shine, what and how do you clean the brush? Pledge Future brush can be cleaned/removed with Windex. Does Windex work for cleaning Quick Shine off the brush?
It is nothing you are doing Rex, we get these comments from the spammers even on channels that NEVER do giveaways. That is why most RUclipsrs these days do giveaway through their own online stores. Keep things completely separate from youtube and comments. So that you can tell your audience that if they are contacted via youtube about a give away or ANYTHING. Its a scam. Which makes people ignore and or report all of the spammers.
I have been using this on my hardwood floors for years but never thought to try it in my airbrush. I will have to try this. Thanks for another great review, I can always count on you to teach me something new.
Appreciate all the testing, especially with alternative methods.
Congratulations to the winner. I have heard about quick shine but never seen it. Thanks for this video
I have literally just got a bottle of this and needed to see it go through an airbrush, as I am new to the airbrush thing too. Have brushed it on the parts I have been experimenting with and it is a very good shine after second coats. Now I know I can thin it and airbrush..thanks Robert for this video…most helpful, thank you 🙏 from UK shores..
Yessss. Finally, I've been waiting so long for this
Thank you for your amazing work your videos have helped me so much!
Thanks for the video, I had wondered how this would do. I had heard about it a few places but not seen it in action yet. Thanks again!
Glad to see you testing this. I actually picked up a bottle, but I've been waiting to finish off the last of my old bottle of Pledge first before trying it.
Good video.. I bought the quick shine a month ago but havent tried it out yet been waiting to see u do a video on the quick shine.. thanks alot .. awesome information.
Hope your holiday was awesome too. Thank you for the information!
Thanks for all the work that you do! It's made my wallet a lot lighter and my house a lot smaller!
Really enjoy the content even though I can't get half the stuff you use, it's relaxing just to see you feature paints and products. Hello from Singapore!
Great video! I was watching @theautisticmodeler and he uses the floor polish on the seats, really gives it a vinyl look to it.
Hi Robert, another great video, keep em coming I'll keep watching.
Thanks for the helpful video. Going to try this for a contest car.
Blessings
Thanks for this video. I've been wondering how to spray my Quick Shine. Now I know how. You rock dude!
Great video again, thank you!
This is why people have interest in floor wax it works.
Floor coating was an original form of clear coat . Varnish was used on wagons as a clear coat, and floors to make them shiny also as a protectant. Then shiny base paint was developed. Lo and behold we are now using base coat and clear coat again. Oh my, history really does repeat itself.
Thanks for this! I been waiting for a while
Awesome, gotta give this product a try!
Robert thanks 4 sharing that with us I am going 2 give it a try on my lures when I use my stencils to keep from scratching the paint!!!!!!!!
I saw 2 bottles of Pledge at the local hardware store a few months back, did a double take, and immediately bought them, because those were probably the last bottles still on a shelf anywhere; and that will last me until I turn 100yrs old. I like it for gunpla because it is bullet proof.
I heard about quickshine, but have so much AquadGloss and Pledge I am probably never gonna try it; so thanks for the video!
I want to give your 2K a try on one of my Tamiya motorcycle kits, because I like your paints, and those are the only models I make that absolutely need a good 2K to look nice.
Awesome content. Thank you Robert!
You're welcome Ed👍
Great video, thanks. I never would have considered these products.
Nice video of the Quick Shine!
Thanks for the review. I do really appeciate your channel
Deja vu! I tested this very product for a demo at a recent modeling club meeting. I was quite impressed and it's now in my modeling "toolbox".
I’m going to look for it..
Thanks Robert for your videos….
I've been using quick shine by brushing it on with a soft bristle brush. Thanks for this review! I'm gonna try airbrushing it now.
Looking forward to seeing your bike... I just started riding again this past April. It's good for the soul!
I'll show it here for sure. I might get it back from the dealer this week. It's a BMW
Glad the resolution for the 2K’s come so quickly. I unfortunately had my 2k gloss clear hardener go bad but happy we have a fix already
I bought a bottle of Pledge recently off of Amazon. It was very dang expensive. Congratulations Ron, you are going to love that paint mixer!
The SMS orange is awsome with and without gloss finish on top!
I love the rawness and authenticity of your brand. I think you should always keep your labels simple, basic l, and looks like you created it at home. Think you should keep it that and roll with it. Btw I have purchased your chrome, and your 2k clear flat and gloss black and not going back to any company for clear armor or mechanical clear kits
We used, 15-20 yrs ago, Future as a metal finish on welded steel furniture, racks, candle holders, etc. (Same as Pledge) We sprayed it out of one of those garden sprayers you pump the pressure up on. As we used it more and more and got busier, we welded up a big rectangle tank. Like 7'x2'x3'. Ordered a couple pallets of Future and poured all the bottles into the tank so we could just dip and hang stuff. We wanted to order 55 gal. drums of it, but couldn't. And in talking to the company, they got all defensive about our "misuse" of the product. It was pretty funny. It wipes on good too if you're quick about it and dries fast, so was great as a good, low cost clear coat.
Neat to see it used here. Since it's an acrylic base, I guess thinning is easy. I've still got a few bottles of it in the welding shop, so I'll have to try it for airbrushing.
Thanks rex!
Thanks for the tip
I shoot Pledge straight out of the bottle no thinning. Haven’t tried Quick Shine yet. It’s nice to have a substitute that gives the same results since it was discontinued. I do love the smell of Pledge. Has a very flowery smell.
I love all your videos thank you so much Henry brown
Thanks Hennry
Well done R! Don't worry to much about those scammers. Keep up the great job!
Great test. Can't wait to see your 2k over chrome.
I bought the 2k Clear and Black, both hardeners are, well, hard. I haven't used the Quick Shine yet, since I still have 3/4 bottle on Pledge. I use the pledge on windows mainly. It works awesome with black dye in it to tint your windows. Also dip my canopies in it before I try tinting them, so if I screw up (which happens from time to time) a quick dip in Windex and I have a clean canopy to try on again.
There was a problem with the jars of hardener. Contact Gundam Pros and they are sending out replacements. Sorry bout that
I used to love tinting pledge for candies and chromes. Hopefully this one will hold up similarly
I mixed Pledge with some mica powder for nail polish. I painted a blue/purple over gloss black and it resulted in a PERFECT transitioning finish. I built the model for a buddy of mine and he was curious on how I did the finish. I couldn't even brag because it was so easy!
Robert, I'm curious what those chromed spoons would look like if you buffed them out even more? Also, I'm stoked to see how your 2k Clear Coats work on Chrome Paint! Looking forward to seeing another video soon! Thanks again! 😎👍
Been waiting for this... Who remembers the original Future clear from back in the 1960s & 1970s? That was even used as a ‘big secret’ on the show car world back then, to get a hyper gloss over a production car
I used it to protect the spitshine on my flight boots back then.
Thank you for this video! I have been in several debates over whether or not to use these type of products on model kits. I have discovered that their are two separate parties on the subject. One is that you should NEVER use this on model kits because it is for floors and the other is that it works great. I'm of the mind that it is economical, gives a decent shine and is durable. I have used the Pledge for a few years now with zero side effects. As I agree that the 2k clears are a better shine, they have some side effects of their own that I don't want to deal with i.e. the smell, the clean up procedures and the price. Over the last few months I have been trying out various clear coats from various manufacturers with mixed results. To this day, I haven't had the Pledge destroy a single paint job on contact like I have with these other clears that folks swear by. Keep up the great videos and by helping tear down some of the walls against floor polishes.
A lot, if not most, products we use for modelling are not made to be used on models. They're often just repackaged existing products so the argument it's meant for floors is pretty meaningless.
The future with the boots on the label was the good stuff but this is pretty good I don’t use it a lot but for a quick shine it worked thanks Robert great video ✌️👍
thanks for doing that
Hey! A Typhoon mixer! I love mine! It beats the crap out of those nail polish and tattoo ink mixers. 💪👍
I'd mix that stuff with mica powders, good video. Sucks with the eye droppers but you stand behind your products, props to you
I have not used the 2k however thinking I will go this route with 2k! Just ordered 2 blacks and one what for the war of the worlds ship. Channel does great. This finish in my shop only to seal in coat of acrylic before next color
I have used quick shine it works great an i have used it over a clear coat just to add a little bit more protection i like it
Just tested (brushed on) Quick Shine myself. Very nice!!! 27oz for 6 bucks. Nuff said!!
Cool. Good to know. Even if I wouldn't use it over gunpla, it would work pretty well for miniautres that need to be glossy.
I tried this on Saturday it seems to work ok over acrylic paint.
Thank you Robert on the 2K update. I just got my 2K gloss the other day and wonder if mine is going to harden up. Neither bottle has been opened up yet but the order is so strong I’ve been wondering about the bottle cap seal. I put the bottles in some Tupperware so I don’t gas myself out and I’ll keep an eye on it and see what happens.
iv used quick shine on 3d resin transparent prints and boy does it make then shine and more see through i dont mix it just straight out the bottle and in my brush about 25-30psi using a .5 needle and about 2-3 coats works for me
I'll give it a try 👍🏿
Good to see the pledge replacement
I was just about to join your patreon and ask you to test this! Guess I don't have to now. :) Kidding
I would like to see what clear works over Revell Chrome. Looking to protect the finish. Thanks
Good solution, since pledge discontinued that clear polish a while ago.
Good Job! I am going to buy Quick Shine. As said before Pledge is very expensive now.
I would love to see you mix it up for spraying Candy with it. Great Video
I used this on a 1/1000 USS Reliant model. Brushed it on. It dried smooth and clear. Surface feels real nice and smooth.
Does it clean up easily from a brush?
@@TheGamerZapocalypse Yea, just washed the brush in hot water and it's clean.
Thanks I was curious about floor wax as a clear coat
9:25 - Quick Shine over dull paints makes a GREAT leather or vinyl appearance, perfect for car interiors.
The scammers tried to get me this week. I got excited (Typhoon mixer!) but figured it out quickly. No big deal.
Anytime there's the ability to exchange messages, there's going to be some scammer trying to get their finger in the pie. It sucks. It's just part of the deal.
As always, thanks for doing the video! I'm not super excited to spray something like this on a kit but it's certainly interesting to check out.
Hey Robert! Don't get stressed out about false spam bots there's no ryme or method about them they spam EVERY RUclips CHANNEL! It's not your fault this is happening, hell every big youtuber does their giveawaysq away from RUclips saves them a bunch of headaches but of course, you're still gonna run into some issues. It is what it is with giveaways. Anyways don't fret! You still do great work regardless of any fiasco! Keep it up!
I just bought some of this at the recommendation of other videos.I hope your results are positive!
What settings do you use with your dehydrator?
I like the though of using this instead of what i have read and that regular car wax. This would be a lot easier. Thanks for the video
You're welcome Mike
For what it's worth (Grain of salt) When we used it as a metal finish, I think we found it didn't like multiple coats. Was much better with a thick, single. (we'd hang the piece and just dab off the drips from low points until it setup.) But that was full strength on steel. So thinning and on plastic may differ.
Nice! I might have to pick up Quick Shine when I run out of the Pledge. I might have to try the alcohol trick with the pledge to get it to dry a little quicker. I use it as a buffer coat when I'm mixing different paint layers with different types of bases. I do want to try some 2K on some of the larger things I do, but have to get a quart for that. It's in the same price range as some of the water based polys I use so I'm just waiting to get low on finish before I get some.
Report back how the alcohol in the pledge works?
@@DefaultProphet I just did a quick test, but it does work, but it's a catch 22. It incorporates fine and dries quicker, but it's thinner and so more coats. Probably not something I would incorporate into how I'm using the Pledge already, because it will just more steps and work to build up a good layer.
In 2004 I was told to use Future/Pledge mixed about 30/70 blue car window wash and Future/Pledge. Never had any issue's at all with it. So you buddy uses 90% alcohol makes sense. Car washer fluid has alcohol or something like it in the fluid. I even add it to the paint as a thinner on my acrylic paint, helps to level the paint. Didn't have all the fancy stuff like now days... Lol
Thanks for testing it Robert. I just picked some up as my Pledge is almost gone.
LLAP 🖖
Washer fluid is my secret weapon for acrylics. Never caused me any strife. Only variation I make is with metallics, some can have a gritty finish so I use a 50/50 mix of distilled water and airbrush medium - works mint and gives a smooth finish.
@@DaneSaysStuff the first model a painted with metallic paint I had issues like that so I added a little bit of pledge floor shine and that helped even it out.
I will give the distilled water at thanks for the tip... LLAP 🖖
I will have to try that, I've been looking for an alternative to pledge for a while now.
Rex
thanks for being as awesome as you are i love all your videos they give alot of insight and information for my next projects! I never thought to use floor care as an option! I was curious do you recommend for a more shine to do multiple layers will it have a different affect on the product im airbrushing? And if so how long should I wait for applying the next layer?
A couple of layers will look great. You can wait about 20 minutes between coats. Think about how long you need to wait when using it on a floor, that dries pretty quick
Oh ok! Awesome! thanks so much would this be ok to use on a custom controller? Cause I airbrush controllers as a hobby!@@barbatosrex9473
How does it Dry over Clear parts on models, either by Dipping or Spraying???
Paul from NB Canada. Just a heads up I have personally seen Future (or Pledge, etc) yellow and crack on a buddy's car kits. I know most swear by it but just a heads up. Loving binge watching your content keep up the great work
Have you tried using this as a medium for mica powders? I'm curious if its gonna work.
Thanks for the great info about Pledge substitutes. How about a link to the air tight bottles?
ive been checking this stuff out for my 1/64 builds although im all in on the mecha 2k clear turns out you can sand and polish the cheap stuff as well go figure 🤔scooter d😎
I've been using Pledge floor stuff for a while, but I never seem to get a rock hard finish. I can easily peel off the paint with my nail and a firm scratch. I only use Acrylic primer and colors though. Any tips to make it more rock hard, or am I gonna have to switch to enamel? (Not ideal because poor ventilation before I got one of those fan in a box things. )
What dehydrator would you recommend for drying paint. I know you covered this before but I can't remember which video it was.
Great idea on the dye! Thanks for putting this all together! I tried using the quick shine awhile back and it streaked horribly after it dried. Im now wondering if I didnt get the multi surface.
Ok, so I checked and I did use the Multi surface. The only thing I can think is that it was an older model that had never been pained. Ill try it on a painted one and see how it goes. Thanks again!
Does "Quick Sh 28:33 ine" floor polish dry glossy like "Future" a true gloss
coat so when you apply decals the carrier film doesn't show after the surface is sealed?
I wonder if you used Flitz to polish the clear over the chrome if it would help it look more like chrome. You could probably also polish it progressively with super high grit abrasives
Thanks for the test.
What was the ratio of IPA to Quick Shine? Looked to be about 10-20%.You
I'm trying out a hardwood floor polish from Rug Doctor.
Thanks for sharing this- super helpful. Of these which is the most scratch resistant?
The floor Gloss is pretty resistant because it's made to be walked on. 2K is the most durable
thank you so much for your speedy reply! i've been deep diving into your videos and they've been extremely helpful :)@@barbatosrex9473
Now does this work as a clearcoat? would it work on fishing lures?
What's the best way to clean quick shine out of the airbrush great video love your channel
Hot water, alcohol or windshield washer fluid
looking forward to your experiments with tinting the quick shine. I assume you are going to use alcohol ink/resin dye?
I used to dip clear canopy parts in pledge to enhance the shine. Can I do this with this new Quick Shine product?
Outta curiosity how would you remove this from a kit?
I had a similar issue with the dropper bottles not keeping 1k from setting, i think the rubber in the dropper breathes slightly which is unfortunate as droppers are super convenient.
try winsheild washer fluid for cleaning your airbrushes please do a video on this
I wonder, can you polish the clearcoat and get some of that shinyness back?
Argghhh..... I was Kinda hoping that 'Barbatos Rex' was going to shoot some clear parts..... Specifically canopies for, possible aircraft??!!
BUT, the paint spoons look Great, I especially liked the fluorescent pink and that orange....maybe go over it again with another coat.
Man, I LOVED the dropper and my last paint order. Bummer it ruins the hardener.
