I found the Pledge Revive It at Walmart and have used that stuff on all of my models, even diecast ones, ever since you showed how to do it many videos ago. I've actually used Quick Shine on wood floors and remember it being somewhat milky. I think the Quick Shine will be a nice alternative if you can't find the Pledge, your model truck looks fantastic by the way and the Quick Shine seems to work just fine. When I restored a 1972 Roadrunner by MPC for a friend of mine, I clear coated the model. When I had the model all together I then used Pledge Revive It Floor Gloss on the model and applied liberally. I have a dedicated brush for applying the Pledge by the way. After a few days of naturally curing, I then used a marine polish on the model and, oh man did it ever gleam!!!! That model was so slick that I nearly dropped it. I only buffed it with a small piece of a cotton t-shirt and it had and still has such a beautiful shine. Thanks for all you do Chris, you're videos are very helpful, very informative, and very much appreciated!!! Thank you Sir!!!
Been using Pledge since your first video suggestion few years ago, I still have 3/4 of a bottle left. It also works for window scratches and cloudy windows.
Thanks so much for this video! I was originally looking to grab Pledge as a brush-on alternative to finicky spray varnishes, but I'm so glad to see folks have done the heavy-lifting of finding a great replacement now that Pledge/Future is unavailable.
I know you promote what works best for you and pass along good information. I am a fan of Testor's Wet Look Clear - One Coat Spray Lacquer. Yes - it is more expensive and some builders have trouble with getting nice finishes with rattle cans. I have many years of experience and am happy with the results that I get from the Testors product. Everyone has to decide what works best for them !
Tester’s wet look clear saved me so much time and money. I found that I don’t need to polish my scale model cars when using this clear coat. It gives me a deep rich mirror finish straight from the can!
Thank you so much for this tutorial. You always put out outstanding videos and I enjoy when there’s a new one that pops up. I was happy to see this one pop up. Again thank you so much sir. Much appreciated
I too have been using Pledge for years. The bottle I have now has been in my possession for maybe 5 or6 years and I noticed that it does not dry as quickly as it used to. I had the same problem with the original Future. After a few years it begins to degrade. The Future eventually stopped curing and remained tacky for weeks, so I had to switch to the Pledge. Now that Pledge is gone (my old bottle is only quarter used) I bought Quich Shine at Walmart. They only had the large bottle ($11.50). I've been using it on some modeling projects, experimenting with it. Yes, it is more liquid than Pledge but it dries to a better finish than Pledge, without bubbles. The only trouble with Quick Shine is that it's not as robust as Pledge. If you run a fingernail gently over a finished and cured surface, you will leave a mark. Press a bit harder and the Quick Shine will peel. It also takes longer to cure than Pledge. Touching it and rubbing it with the finger does not have any effect. I have not tried air-brushing it yet but I don't think it would be a problem. Mixing it with acrylic water-based paints was no problem also.
It's great to know that the Quick Shine works well. I was looking for the Future floor polish, but I couldn't find it so I grabbed a bottle of the quick Shine instead. Thank you for this timely video!
Chris, when I first started watching your channel a couple years back. I couldn't find the pledge at first. I started using the Quick Shine. I worked good for me. But, I did find a bottle of the pledge. But, I still use the Quick Shine once in awhile. It didn't harm my decals at all.
Many thanks for this video. I am getting back into the hobby after a several year break, and was looking for Future ...then the Pledge.. no joy unless I wanted to pay ~$50.00 for a $6.00 bottle. I saw this product listed in Walmart, and wondered. Your video is very timely and helpful to me. Your channel is the go to source when I want to see something about a kit, or general modeling how to's. I really like your practical methods to get good outcomes with reasonable effort..
I wanted to say thank you very much. I use Future to make washes for my miniatures. Last time I did a round of dipping I did not see all my large containers of products correctly. I have also been extremely busy with home improvements. So I have not painted and washed anything in months. It turned into a solid mass of India ink and pledge. I could only find it online for 50 bucks a pop. So hopefully the substitute will work if I don’t find any at my local farm and fleet.
thank you for this ! I had been using FUTURE but my supply is now EMPTY. I had been considering QUICK SHINE but now know it is the replacement. Lowes carry's this stuff for about $8. Enough to last years. One thing not mentioned, once models are coated and fully cured ( dried) if an accident happens like paint spilling on the model, it can be wiped off with thinner without affecting the Acrylic clear coat ! ask me how I know !
I am so glad I found your channel and this video. I'm disabled and model from bed and can't use a airbrush or aerosols. I've been searching to see if I can use floor polish with a brush and finally got my answer. Thanks so much for the great content on your channel. I have a question for you, can I use the floor polish with a brush to seal in my decals, do a pin wash or weathering then apply a flat coat with a brush for my military models I don't want a gloss finish with? Will brushing on a flat coat reactivate the floor polish and mess everything up? Thank you so much for any help and I've got plenty of great videos to watch and catch up on.
Hi Chris iam going to try quick shine this week .I couldn’t find pledge. So I think iam going to used quick shine and see how it gos. I will let you know Chris. I just got back in the hobby. Thanks for the tip
How did it go? Does it still look good? I just put some on a model yesterday and so far it looks great. Would be good to hear some input from long term results.
Looks like I’m going to have to reply to myself. Over a month later, mine still looks shiny and great. Good replacement for the old future floor polish variants.
Thanks for the video! I have been looking for Pledge but it has been sold out everywhere I have looked and I was looking for alternatives. The Rustoleum spray can clear almost ruined my printed and painted models with crazy inconsistent sprays. Some wet sanding and quick shine floor polish and all is well! Thanks again!
Thanks for the video. My local Walmarts are already out of stock of the pledge revive it, but I was able to find it in my rural town grocery store. I bought just one bottle since I already have a couple bottles of it. I will try the new quick shine.
I have used Future since the 90's for aircraft canopies on kits I have built, and they are still clear and shiny to this day. Thanks for the tip about Quick Shine though, always good to have a backup.
I'm telling ya. I use it every time and don't even spray it. I'm sure I could get a better shine with something more in depth but I'm satisfied with what pledge achieves
Thanks for the alternative floor wax and proof test. Looks good. It’s been a while since I lived as far North as Fleet Farm stores. They seem to be a regional chain. Not a complaint, just an observation. But Quick Shine appears to be in Walmart, so all is good. Thanks.
The rules of supply/demand have the Pledge up to $37 per 27 oz. bottle now. If a person wants to feel better about it, I did some math and that is still WAY cheaper by volume than the Tamiya clear. (If only Johnson Wax made paint for models...27 oz. each color for $8.99.)
I did watch the other and bought that kit and commented on the last video and yes this is very hard to find and one on online was like $30.00 plus dollar I have no fleet farm and Walmart is at a non -stock and yes I bought that I'm hoping is will be the same. 🙂Thomas over at The Model Hobbyist.
I haven't been able to find Pledge Revive It (Future Floor Polish) anywhere locally. You can still find it on Amazon though, but a little pricey. I might try that Quick Shine in the future. Thanks for the video!
I heard a rumor they were going to discontinue the Pledge a few years ago, so I got some coupons and headed to Walmart. I ended up with 7 bottles. I'm betting a lifetime supply!
This just popped up right when i was wondering if i could use floor polish that i already have instead of car polish to polish model cars! arrh... what a tongue twist X)
If anyone cares to read the directions on the back of the bottle...It reads "After floor is completely dry, additional coats may be applied if a higher gloss is desired." Four coats seem to give me the gloss I'm looking for---without any adverse effects to the models I applied it to.
I was just looking for your older video of this and I am currently trying to figure this out! My spray on clear coats are disastrous 🤣I love the smell of Pledge, I just did an older model last night and it seems like the paint soaked it up.
Pledge is awesome I asked you a few questions found some here in Australia so I bought a few bottles and honestly couldn't be happier so much so I use it on my diecast big rigs as well as my cars and plastic models it's the best the shine is second to none . Chris knows his stuff
Use with caution. I applied this Quick Shine on my Evergreen polystyrene clear plastic windows. It basically ruined them...I brushed it on as in the video, I got wavy pool spots on the windows when it dried, which was a disaster. The only thing I can explain is it reacted with the Novus polish I had cleaned the clear plastic prior to the Quick Shine. So I tried it on unpolished plastic, same result. Maybe this is acceptable to some, but it looks horrible as far as I'm concerned.
Great video! As they all are. I used to dip my glass in future floor polish and now, decades later they are still looking great. I just bought a bottle of that floor polish you demonstrated but haven't had a chance to try it yet. What do you clean your brush with after using that stuff? I don't think I missed that but if I did I apologize. I haven't seen that bottle of future for probably 20 years and unbelievably I just found it in the cellar behind some really old automotive lacquer paint from the late 70s. The bottle did turn yellow but the polish is clear
I have always sprayed it on. The issue I have with replacements is the ingredients. Future clearly claim 'acrylic' as the main ingredient. The others do not - they say 'polymer', which could mean anything. Its a crap shoot. My bottle of Future just ran out, too. I'm in panic mode. I have some of the Walmart stuff in the cupboard, for my floor. I'm afraid to even try that.
I think there are some 30+ year old unopened bottles of Future (maybe it's Klear) under the kitchen sink. I wonder if they are still good? 😂 My real question is have you tried using Quick Shine as a thinner/medium/flow improver for acrylic paints? It seems like it would be ideal for that. I will get a bottle next time I'm at Walmart or Fleet Farm. What if you want a matte finish instead of gloss? I'll be painting and finishing model tanks, and they are not supposed to be shiny :)
I loved this video. I came across it while looking for a way to protect my LEGO minifigure key chains. Chris do you think this would work on LEGO Plastic?
I have Pledge Floor Care Finish is the same clear liquid just different name. I don't think they will stop making it, just changed the name. Quick Shine also comes in a floor cleaner with a blue label, so make sure you get the floor finish.
Hi Chris I know it sounds crazy but it did. I went to the store and bought Quick shine. When I got home and took out of the bag it exploded every where. Like I said I just got back into this hobby and would like some pointers on this subject sincerely anthony
I've been using Pledge Revive it for a couple of years now and with good results. I usually brush it on and dip the clear parts. If you plan on wet sanding it and polishing it after applying the floor polish, I'd just say be careful as the protection that the floor polish provides seems to be thin and I actually damaged my paint job and some decals by sanding too much. My cars and trucks don't have that "candy-coated" look either but imo a more realistic shine that suits me just fine. Not gonna whine....
It appears that the edges of the hood have a line of air bubbles. Since this was the first thing brushed, I wonder if shaking the bottle before use caused this.
I just tried this on a hood painted with enamel paint and after a day, its foggy. Any idea why? It went on easy and had a nice shine, but became foggy. What did I do wrong? Thanks
I have some old die cast model Ferrari's that my Grandmother had. No rust, but lots of dust. Can this be used on die cast cars? Any suggestions as a general cleaner to get the dust/shine them up a bit before putting the gloss on? Been looking for a while and can't find anything. Everything I find is for actual cars, lol. Great video.
It will work fine once they are cleaned. The floor polish is harmless to almost anything it's put on. If it was messing up surface the people that use it on their floors would go nuts.
Thanks for the heads up on pledge going out of stock. Quick question. Have you ever polish the model after you clear them with pledge? Just wondering.🤔
I have used quick shine for a while now. It's great stuff. You are doing an awesome job. Keep it up.
Did you use it on clear parts?

I could never find the Pledge and have been using Quick Shine for a long time. Works great.
It is really nice that you have found an alternative. Thanks for sharing.
I got a bottle of quick shine a couple of months ago since it's sold pretty much everywhere pledge used to be sold.
I've had good results so far.
Thank you so much for this tutorial. You always put out outstanding videos and I enjoy when there’s a new one that pops up. I was happy to see this one pop up. Again thank you so much sir. Much appreciated
Thanks Chris, love your tutorials you have such a talent for explaining techniques. Thanks for the reminder about Pledge.
Thank you for this video. I couldn't find the Pledge product anywhere and you saved the day.
This is priceless. Thank you for sharing your modeling experience.

Thanks so much for this information! Like a few I am recently back to the hobby and was thinking of springing $$$ for Pledge. So helpful!
I like this recommendation, and now that I know how you apply it (most everyone I know airbrushes it), I'll be using your method.
Thanks for another good recommendation.
I’ve used future since the 1st time u showed it on the channel found 2 bottles at the flea market works great
Thanks for the video! I have been looking for Pledge but it has been sold out everywhere I have looked and I was looking for alternatives. Wow! Loved it! So many thanks for the video
Thanks for this. It made the chrome cloudy with my revell chrome 😢. I will keep looking for Pledge
I found Quickshine in Family dollar. And have used it for over a year without any problems.
As always, thanks for the info on this product!👍
Great tutorial Chris, thanks! 👍🏼
Thanks for the video, I had sticker shock 😲 with Amazon Pledge $45.00 I will be picking up a bottle of Quick Shine
Thanks for the review and recommendation.
Thanks Chris great tip and thanks for taking the time to do this test peace out Brother stay safe
Thanks!
Thank you for that tip Chris I’m going to try it thanks again
When I learned that Future/Pledge would be discontinued, I bought a few bottles to last me a lifetime. Good to know about any alternatives, too.
Ty so much for this always wanted to try it'. Going to try it now. Ty bud
For Australian viewers, go to Bunnings and get 'Long Life' 1L Self Shining Floor Polish. $13.99 for a litre. 👍 Same stuff.
Thanks for the tip!
Great video Chris! Thanks for sharing this!!

@@GrandNational66 Thanks!! Ottawa here as well.
@@GrandNational66 Ottawa South here. Wrong Ken, realtor is my cousin. I build armour usually.

Great review. I always airbrush my revive but I’ll try your method next.

I picked up Quick Shine up to try some time ago. It being milky white steered me away. I still have a full bottle of Pledge I never used.
I was just looking for your older video of this and I am currently trying to figure this out! My spray on clear coats are disastrous 🤣I love the smell of Pledge, I just did an older model last night and it seems like the paint soaked it up.
I would usually do two coats of floor polish. Always worked for me. Maybe it's the quality of paint? Too much roughness, or orange peel?
@@MarkMeadows90 oh no, floor polish works great! It was the Rustoleum paints that gave me fits.
@@DaveWrightKB9MNM I tanked on Rustoleum for the same reason!
@@MarkHevingham it was really bizarre. Worked fine on one but not on another. I thought maybe it was due to not sanding it but that wasn’t the case.

Pledge is awesome I asked you a few questions found some here in Australia so I bought a few bottles and honestly couldn't be happier so much so I use it on my diecast big rigs as well as my cars and plastic models it's the best the shine is second to none . Chris knows his stuff
Awesome thank you!
I just noticed an Ebay-er is selling 2 bottles for $120. That's outrageous!
Spray and Prey !
My kits has more than a year with quick shine , no problem so far
Use with caution. I applied this Quick Shine on my Evergreen polystyrene clear plastic windows. I always use lemon pledge furniture polish on my motorcycles! Dust does NOT cling to it!!
I think there are some 30+ year old unopened bottles of Future (maybe it's Klear) under the kitchen sink. I wonder if they are still good? 😂
My real question is have you tried using Quick Shine as a thinner/medium/flow improver for acrylic paints? It seems like it would be ideal for that. I will get a bottle next time I'm at Walmart or Fleet Farm. What if you want a matte finish instead of gloss? I'll be painting and finishing model tanks, and they are not supposed to be shiny :)

I have Pledge Floor Care Finish is the same clear liquid just different name. I don't think they will stop making it, just changed the name. Quick Shine also comes in a floor cleaner with a blue label, so make sure you get the floor finish.
Hi Chris I was using quick shine and the bottle explode. The quick shine every where do you recommend something else. Sin freely anthony

Any noticeable difference in the level of shine compared to Pledge?
I called the SC Johnson customer 800 number and the woman told me they stopped making it in January. She sent a bunch of coupons for other products.
I make diecast police modes. But the quickshine leaves my black parts of the model foggy.
I've been using Pledge Revive it for a couple of years now and with good results. I usually brush it on and dip the clear parts. Have you ever polish the model after you clear them with pledge?
Just wondering.🤔
Nope, I spray it as is then brush on the clear when I'm done with the model. I do nothing else to the paint.
Just found this video. Thanks for the review.
So, after a year, what are your thoughts? Are you still using Quick Shine?
Yup, works just fine.
@@hpiguy Great. Thank you! 🙂🙏👍
