- 15 Days in a Road Train - Perth to Brisbane to Melbourne then back to Perth - Gear Changes
There are deliveries and pick up I do in between. I also show you how I change gear whilst driving through Mildura, Victoria so come along and enjoy this long ride.
I do some road train spotting too showing you 2, 3 and 4 trailers. The big quad road train.

Love, love, loved this!!! We even recognised where we camped a couple of months ago at Bunda Cliffs; alongside the left of your bonnet! Nose in - wind blew west to east with the occasional blast from north to south! Sounded like a freight train or truck 😂😂
You are such a kind genuine bloke helping your fellow truckies.
The night vision of the stars was truly breathtaking.
Hope Steve got to Karratha safely.
Lumbar Transport - you guys are awesome allowing Johnno to film !! Thank you 🎉
Wow thanks Karen for those kind words. Yes Steve had no problems getting to Karratha and is already on his way back east.
Glad you like the night skies. I might try to do some more.
Appreciate you helping the stranded truckers. Beautiful gesture.
Awesome. Thanks
Dunno if you're doing 'em any favours. If the Sons of the Sub-continent want to drive long distance then they have to learn how to fix, jury-rig and repair on the side of the road, not just stand there looking dumfounded. Generally I've found the Sikhs to be more mechanically minded and get stuck in than this pair. In my time I've replaced diffs and turbos in parking bays, welded sub-chassis under gum trees, jacked and chained up axles when wheel sets fell off and had two trucks burn under me. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do. If nothing else, the weight of tools and spares you have to carry justifies the tax deduction of using your car to get to work.
Yes I hear you. There are a lot of Aussies who can't do much either. I can't see people stuck on the edge of the road and not do anything.
That dude driving in thongs! 🙄
So kind of you to help, those guys out. If only more people behaved like you.
Thanks heaps. Yes. I know it's like someone to stop and help if I was in that situation.
You are a good soul, with a big heart.
Throughly enjoyed your film 👍🏽😊
Oh thanks Malcolm for your kind words
Some great drone piloting skills there, Johnno
Awesome. Thanks Dougie
Fantastic video! Those shots of the cliffs were incredible. And the night sky! I live in Brisbane and forget how large Australia is…!
Yes Daniel. Australia is a big and beautiful place
@@RoadTrainAdventuresamazing . God bless Australia...❤🎉
For sure

Awesome. Thanks and its great to have more Americans watching.
Keep trucking.💪💪💪💪
👍
Love your work mate, camped on those cliffs on the nullabor and one of my great memories was watching the road trains come roaring down the hill at night, Spectacular🤙
Thanks heaps. I wondered if it's trucks would be annoying with the sound of the tyres passing all the time.
Excellent recordings and very good music to go with it. Your videos are indeed the best in quality. I love and enjoy them very much.
Thanks again. I do try to make them as good a quality for you all to watch.
really blown away with the changing of the gears
Ha ha. Awesome. Thanks
What a wonderful vlog Johno. You really do an excellent job both with the driving and the filmmaking. It's easy to forget that you're making these quality films whilst getting that load across Australia. Absolutely epic stuff.
It was kind of you to stop and help those guys and you have abrilliant attitude towards the job. Hats off to you mate.
Thanks heaps Stefan. I have a lot of fun making these too.
Amazing shot of the train parked up at the cliffs. 👍
Thanks ross
Johnno. Love your gritty videos. Much better than the over produced manufactured drama of reality shows on TV. You showed your class in helping those blokes on Madura Pass.
Thanks Graham. I try my best.
I was thinking of making a funny send-up of one of those shows where I make a real drama about everything.
You're a bloody good bloke mate.
You stopped to see if you could assist or help a driver who needed help.
Good one Johno
Absolutely bloody marvelous.
Love your work.
Amazing footage,
Good camera skills.
Good stuff mate.
Thanks heaps for your kind words
Awesome. Thanks again
Awesome. Thanks again
Always good to be along with you on the hauls on the ground and the in the air! Be safe!
Thanks Dana
Hands down one of the best channels on you tube, what a great bloke to help out like this.
Oh you guys are the best. Great to have you along.
Oh man, those cliffs drone views with the truck on top are amazing. Well done.
Thanks heaps. I wondered if the cliff shots would be interesting for viewers.
Wow great ,I love sunny weather while driving than cold
For sure
One of the best video's you've done Johnno! Some great drone shots, very interesting. Well done for stopping to help that driver, not many drivers do that these days, so good on ya 👍. Nice to see a tidy rope and sheeted load too. Looking forward to the next one 🇬🇧
Thanks Bob. Always great to have you along.
Absolutely top lad. If I was the other driver I would have given you a beer thanked you so much!. Really top bloke to have around.😊
Thanks heaps. I never ask for anything in return for helping. Most offer something but unless it's just a drink, I usually don't accept.
What you fellas do is incredible & I put you on par with doctors because without trucks Australia stops & it’s definitely a true statement. Keep on trucking 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺 Oi Oi Oi 👍
Oh thanks heaps
My hero's are those who provide clean drinking water, saves more life's than all the doctors.
Very good
Nice video. I love it.❤❤
Thanks heaps
love that engine working hard and the old girls got some grunt in her. love it. i love the clutch less changes
Yeah the engine certainly sounds great
Never bored with your videos
Beautiful scenery at the cliffs
I chuckled to myself when I saw McDonald's. I refer to them as the BIG M Steakhouse . Keep up the good work 👏
Awesome. Thanks Perry
Pulling over to help is something we don’t see very often these days. Good on ya mate for keeping the old school values alive
Awesome. Thanks. Yes I'd hope someone would help me if I was stuck on the edge of the road.
Excellent episode thanks buddy. Well worth watching
Thanks Ady
Absolutely amazing drone views brilliant video 👍👍👍 Ex Trucker retired Manchester England 👍
Oh thanks heaps. It's great to hand more people along from England
Has to be your best yet Johnno! The amount of time, effort and content was amazing. The scenery is incredible especially the footage of the cliffs in WA. I’ll be watching this one again and again. Well done mate! 👍🏻
Thanks heaps. I'm really surprised you all liked the cliffs so much.
Love your disposition when it comes to high responsibility and isolating work. Well done
Very nice. Thanks heaps Jake
Looks like you will be up for an Emmy nomination soon Johno, if you keep this up !
Excellent video Mate and Awesome of you to stop and help those guys, Well Done
Thanks Don. I have Ken to fight that award with. He'll be back in Australia tomorrow so he will start making truck videos again.
Absolutely love your videos so down to earth and awesome to watch. Thanks heaps
Oh thanks heaps Tony
I love seeing this RUclips person develop. Keep on trucking!
Very nice. Thanks Regan
I've been giving serious consideration to a change of occupation and I have to say the appeal of a long haul trucker has been calling to me for some time, being able to enjoy the views as you drive hour after hour, seeing one part of the country after another. A true inspiration.
For sure Dan. It's certainly a way of life. But that's only if you're OK with being away from home.
A pretty good life but you don't see the breakdowns the blow outs, floods , folding wet tarps and bad weather etc etc but you do have the best view out of your office window..
I sure all of that when I can. I've been pretty lucky though not to have much of any of that.
Could be your best yet! As a non-trucker but someone with great respect for truckies, I feel like I learn a lot from your videos as well as being entertained. Keep it up and thanks 👍
Thanks again Andrew
5:44 Wow. Great music also. Thank you.😜
Thanks Bernard
Love the drone shots on this one Johno please keep the videos coming 😃
Thanks heaps David
Hi Johnno, you are so right when you talk about how wonderful the Australian country and outback scenery is. The landscape seems to be ever changing. The Bunda Cliffs is also another part of this great country that you can never get tired of seeing as that is also every changing over thousands of years
For sure
I love the cool Drone shots and the music backing.
Awesome. Thanks Peter
Fabulous video and great shots of Aus. I haven't lived in Aus since 10 years, now. Though I was recently back in Darwin for a job, and reminded of the beauty of the land. These videos are fantastic at showing the vast expanse of the outback and the romance of driving across country. Also, props to you for stopping and assisting those blokes, I hope they appreciated the help!
For sure. Yes those guys were very thankful.
Great work helping out the two foreign drivers 💪.
Thanks Justin
Need to visit your country for a holiday mate.greetings from Singapore.🎉🎉.@@RoadTrainAdventures
Sure. Come on over.
Those blokes that broke down didn't seem to have a clue. Lucky for them you were there to help out.
Yeah. I saw their truck when I took some drone footage. Then one of them came into the Madura hotel as I was having a meal for assistance so I offered to help.
your videos are getting better all the time. thank you for making the effort. 'Shift Cam' and your commentary on driving techniques are much appreciated
Thanks heaps. If you want another great truck channel, checkout The Homeless Truckie. He makes awesome content too.
Awesome new video. Really loved the in cab shots of the gear changes. Nice to see how aussie trucks works
Thanks heaps.
Thank you for your fantastic Work. Great views again. Superb video. 👍🐺🙂
Thanks Dirk. Always great to have you along.
Those shots from the drone of the cliffs and sea are epic. Seeing your truck in them puts the scale into perspective to. They would make great promotional shots for the company. Your videos just keep getting better. Look forward to every new one you post. Safe travels…
Awesome. Thanks. Robert
Thanks for the ride along, enjoyed it, looking forward to your next one.
Awesome. Thanks Tony
Brilliant video, best yet, thanks so much, really appreciate the time and effort you go to, cheers mate 👏👏
Thanks David. Always good to get great feedback.
It has always been my dream to drive a road train and this was really good inspiration because I’m not old enough to drive one!
Oh. How long do you have to wait?
What a super video ! The most entertaining 42 minutes I have had in a long time. Thank you, all the way from Ireland.
Thanks Tom. I'm glad you liked it.
Tom o mahony. Are you from Cork .??
Is that a place in Ireland?
Awesome video, thanks for taking us along.
It's great to have you along.
G’day. I thought ‘no way am I gonna watch a while 42 minutes’, but hey I did :) Awesome editing on the bit through Mildura, and great drone work throughout. Thanks for a great show!
Wow you watched it all. Awesome. Makes it worth while me putting in the effort. Thanks heaps.
Man you're awesome, helping ppl even without knowing them
Oh thanks Omar. I'd like someone to do the same for me one day.
Well done, good pictures, great cut, good tone quality. And, as always, a real view into trucking in down under! Thx and greetings from Germany!
Thanks heaps. Germany would be a great country to visit. So you drive yourself?
@@RoadTrainAdventures Just from time to time.
I'm dispatcher and fleet manager, but got all licences, so if I fancy it, I'll do a tour by myself!
If you come over, drop me a line.
We are in the UK and in Spain with our trucks on a weekly basis, if you like, join a tour, so you would have a few impressions of Europe.
We're doing car transports only, our drivers are sleeping in hotels, you would take a trip like this as holidays ;)
Wow your drivers don't sleep in the truck. I know your sleeper cab are smaller but I started out sleeping in a small cab Volvo. Was in that for at least a year.
I had experienced overtaking 4 trailers length road train going to exmouth, was truly amazing experience in open straight line.
Yes they sure look good
Nice vlog Johno, Wonderful drone shots as always! 👍
Thanks TK
I was in Perth last year and it was such a beautiful place. Road train is the job I want to do.
👍
Well done Johno ! the content was great , the filming and editing fantastic and for a moment I thought I was watching the dramatic Hollywood cliff scene from Dual ( for those that can remember that far back) but your production was better, your actions of lending a hand to people on the road in need of assistance was exemplary and should be celebrated, your a legend. I was stuck on a mountain road in a precarious situation and had the good fortune of being helped by another truckie and have always been grateful for their kindness and expertise and hope to pass it on.
Thanks Tony. I always like to go the extra mile and when it comes to helping others, well I how someone would stop to help me if I was broken down.
People are praying around the clock.
👍
Mmmmmm nah
Great video. I really enjoyed the journey. I cant understand anything you say but l love your country and its people.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thanks Ray.
Another awesome video. The time and effort you must have put into this is rewarding for people like me that could never have gone on a trip like this alone. Keep these coming my friend.
Awesome. Thanks Janet
Superbly fun watching these. Love the longer format with journeys and all the issues you encounter. Very interesting too. Thanks Alex.,
Thanks Alex. The longer videos are hard to make but it's great to hear that you like them.
Wow.....awesome video bud. Part of me would like to join you one day across Australia. What an experience. That cliff drone video was mind blowing. Billions of years right there. Thanks so much.
Awesome. Thanks for your kind comments and it's also great to have you along.
Well Johno, Jonny here, a brit living in Canada driving B trains for 15yrs, love watching your videos, hoping to make it over there one day. The sheer professionalism your vids look and the views, local knowledge you have of the places you visit and the time you take to deliver a quality looking film, earned a new subscriber. Thankyou stay safe and keep trucking brother 👍
Thanks Jonny. Do let me know if you make it over here and maybe we can catch up. I'd love to try driving over there. Would be a real treat.
Good video and insight into the truck driving life
Thanks Daniel
I’m glad someone is living the dream love you work mate😎🙏
I hope you're living the dream too
G`Day bloke, your star shots are fantastic. I have a mate who lives in the big smoke and he was here a long while ago and saw a starry night and said he had never seen so many before. I guess many big town folks haven`t. Hope some of them get to see your video.Cheers, Bob.
Thanks Bob. Maybe you can share it with them.
This video just showed up on my feed. I've heard about "Road Trains" but, never really seen one until now. Absolutely incredible!! Good stuff!!!
Awesome. I'm glad you liked it.
Love seeing how helpful you are to other truckers 👍
Thanks heaps. It is nice to help others.
It's something that seems to be disappearing from the Aussie way of life. Not just truckies, but nobody, absolutely nobody would dare drive past anyone in trouble on an outback road in Oz once. I'm the truck driving son of a truck driving father and when Dad started in the game, the bitumen up the coast road in WA ended at Geraldton! If you got bogged on that road, you had no choice but to try to walk into a station homestead for help. Anyone who didn't help out, ran out of mates very quickly!
@@michaelboyce7079 no different in the UK matey and not just in our profession it’s seems to be rife in all aspects of normal life now…shame but true.
For sure
👍
MAN, when i see multiple trailors cannot help but to just be blown away. its just the biggest most impressive thing to move. Im just getting into semi trailors but i want to drive these bad boys one day. SO FUCKING COOL
Thanks Luke. Are you in Australia?
@@RoadTrainAdventures I sure am! Queensland born, living in sydney! lived in most states!
Are you thinking about getting your MC and joining us?
Good one! I saw this pop up while I was working today and was anxious to get off work and have a cold one while "visiting" Oz from North Carolina, USA. yt dog woke up from her nap and barked at your truck when you rolled down the window for the shifting demonstration. Too funny. She thought someone was arriving.
Well hello from North Carolina. It's great to have you along. In glad your dog liked what he heard. Sounds like I got the mix right then.

Hollywood is back, great job on video, trucking and support other truckies. Top Job 110%
Thanks Alexander
Great stuff John. Makes me want to get back out on the road again and head west.
Well if the conditions are right in your life, anything is possible.
@@RoadTrainAdventures I am 59, do you think its too late to get into trucking?
I wouldn't think so. Just depends if you can get a job where you live.
You are a good man, helping others on the road, 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you very much for your kind words
Man! The effort you put into these videos in insane, Must say, I was pooping my pants a little for your drone as you sent it over the Bight, but what a spectacular sight!! Often driven, Gold Coast to Perth and never taken the time to smell the roses and check out those sights. You're inspirational. Thanks for taking us all along for the journey. Cheers
Awesome. Thanks Darren. Lucky for me on not always in a hurry so I can stop to take in these moments.
Good Evening 😊 Awesome Content 👌🏽 Thanks for taking me across your Beautiful country 😊 Greetings Mate And Cheers 🍻 From S.A🇿🇦

I would love to drive a Road train, unfortunately we don’t have them in the UK.
I really enjoyed the channel, and the beautiful scenery.
I did see the shooting star.
You are very lucky, but at the same time it is very hard work.
Thank you for the great videos.

The shooting stars around Norseman and Fraser range are awesome. Spent a bit of time out that way under canvas!
That last night scene was just start Balladonia. It's hard to get a clear night when your want it.

Ha ha. It's not that long
Great. You have great job. I love it.
Thanks heaps
Same to you truckie. Keep im roling.@@RoadTrainAdventures
For sure
Another Great video Johno , drone footage was top notch especially over the cliffs . Keep up the good work mate
Thanks Brett. When I took the cliff footage I wasn't sure if many people would be interested in it as it's not really truck related.
Drone work at Bunda Cliffs was utterly spectacular. I bet the cigar cutter was working overtime coz if you drop the drone there, it’s bye bye.
Thanks Chris. Ha ha. Cigar cutter. Yes there is no recovery of anything. I read wondering what I'd do if I feel over the edge. How far I'd have to swim up to get out, if I was still alive.
Thanks Chris. Ha ha. Cigar cutter. Yes there is no recovery of anything. I read wondering what I'd do if I feel over the edge. How far I'd have to swim up to get out, if I was still alive.
Great video, very enjoyable. thank you.
Thanks Steven
Johnno personally i think the best video ever. Always a great ride in the cabin with you but one day i'm going to ask the boss if i can come for a shortish kinda trip with you. The drone footage brilliant and the stars well that's stepped up another level lol
Thanks Kylie. Our trips are too long for you to come along but maybe one day I'll get something short. You're the first person to mention the night sky. I was starting to think that wasn't any good.
My absolute dream to drive a Roadtrain. Will gain my MC licence in November 2024. My husband is a long haul MC driver. I have done Truck relocations driven many make models and just love driving trucks. Seeing your videos and the country scenery just has me desiring this so bad. I dream trucks lol Being a woman in the Industry and new at it I just want to learn learn learn . I've had really gentle kind men train me , and one time I dropped off a load at Gatton Qld and a Japanese worker come running out of the factory jumping up and down with excitement touching me in absolute Awe saying * a lady truck driver, omy I've never seen a lady trucks driver * she was thrilled . Another time dropping off a Prime Mover at Penske a young apprentice mechanic saw me climb down and stood there * wow your little and you drive that * he followed me so inquisitive. I get joy experiencing those moments. Now seeing this I feel like them just in awe.. If my children didn't demand my time with grandchildren lol me and the husband be off on our Roadtrain adventures. Maybe 2 more years when grandsons 5 ..but seeing you helping other's full of knowledge and calm really was a highlight .
Think I'm gonna be stalking this page more now. If I see you on road I'll radio in.
Yes do give me a call if you see me on the road. Maybe you should talk to Roxy. She's a 5 foot older female who drives triple road trains.
I don't have a sexist bone(r) in my body, but I have to wonder (not having any truckie experience) and after watching some of these road train videos...how does a female have the strength to 'man'-handle these loads/trailers, chains, tie-downs, shifting loads, etc., when things go wrong or even from the load up. The loads and trailers are in themselves, from what I have been watching, can get quite demanding with on-road repairs, tire changes, and you name it. I know that the females manage, somehow, but is it because of their magical powers of strength and knowledge or are they always asking for a man's help? I would like to see a woman change a tire or wheel bearings. I, being a man, couldn't even do any of that! Don't go shooting arrows at me, now, for broaching this subject.
Yes you're right. I do know some women who drives road trains but they don't have to do any maintenance.
@@RoadTrainAdventures So, how do they manage road maintenance when their truck breaks down or a tailor develops a problem, or a load shifts, or, or, or? Do they always have a male partner? Do they have a contract with someone to respond to their calls if needed? The only thing that I see that they [the female drivers] have in their favor is that the men at the destination locations faun over them like they were a lost dog or that they have never seen a woman before or that they are under the impression that she [the driver] is going to give 'it' up to them... Well, just some thoughts...do you have any answers?
@danleep1185 Some of us truck drivers will try to fix the problems ourself but with others I believe that they just don't for help.
As an American trucker who has experienced remote areas, I must say that Australia takes it to a whole new level. I'm curious about the response time for roadside service in the vast Australian desert.
Oh you could wait a day or two depending where you are. In our company we carry a lot of spares including houses, belts, pulleys and alternator so we can swap it out and get back on the road sooner.
Is it bad in Canada?
winters are brutal
@tomcoleman4207 Yes they can be bad
4:50 Awesome and breath taking shots. I am quite surprised that America didn't invent or adopt road trains in their haulage industry.
Yeah I don't know why. There would be way less trucks on the road.
@@RoadTrainAdventures I would love to visit Australia, I have some distant family who live there. Not criminals (as far as I am aware?) but I am shit scared of large spiders. Safe trucking buddy. From an ex professional driver from once was Great Britain.
Well we need more good operators so come over.
