  • Have you ever wondered how drivers removed a semi trailer piggybacked on another trailer?
We came across this double road train carrying a third trailer and just watch how these drivers removed it.
It was a hot day but they just worked systematically together and within 40 minutes the trailer was off and ready to continue its journey somewhere within Queensland.
    I hope you enjoy it.
Why not check out the other videos I have on my channel.

Great video. I had to put an A trailer on a B trailer once, took me ages to get it square with the edges, would be harder with the dolly on as well.

easiest done with a cabover, worst with a square bonnet Superliner. SAR was ok tho.
I once used a ground level ramp in the Alice and that was magic.

Sounds like throw bearing needs a little grease.

Nice video. Does the truck have a Series 60 engine? Could you give information about the powertrain? Regards.

As far as the US-based trucks go Series 60, Cat C15s and Cummins are the most common in the road train game, and almost all of them run 18 speed boxes - either the Eaton Road-Ranger or the Mack variant.

Real men don't need gloves, only pet lambs and a bit of dirt won't hurt you, builds up resistance to illness. Very handy loading bank.

Did I miss something? Title said something about unloading a trailer. Didnt see anything difficult about that at all.

How do they do it (about 2:00)? I'd say once the second trailer is backed to the stage (whatever you call it - unloading dock?), the prime mover unhooks from the front trailer drives up[ onto the dock and hooks up to the trailer on top of the second trailer; he then pulls it off. He will then position it such that, once he has hooked back to the first trailer, he can (hopefully) back the two trailers back onto the third, hook up, test and then he is on his way ...

I've always known em as loading ramps. Decades ago we used to piggy back two dogs (semi trailer with converter dolly) onto the lead trailer when running empty. But nowadays it's seen as "too dangerous" by the powers that be.
      Have a good one mate

A bit of a dodgy old ramp for loading and unloading, Worksafe would have fit.
