      I used to do a lot of motorcycling around the roads here in Tassie, wonderful summer fun. Except for the tourists in hire cars that would stop in the middle of the road and all get out to take a picture of a wombat, or echidna or some other furry beast, or just enjoy the view.
      More often that not on a blind corner.. Just stop, door open and wander around taking photo's.
      They would pretend to not speak English when confronted.
      Couple of friends got serious injuries due to trying to avoid the fools, I came close a few times, one of the reasons I stopped.
      Helmet/bike cameras were a must... but even then, try to get any recompense out of them when they just board the next plane home to "Asia somewhere". Insurance won't get anything out of them, so watch the premium skyrocket.

    re: powerlines on your car. If safe to do so, then the best thing is to WAIT for Energex (or similar) to tell you, FACE TO FACE, that it's safe to get out. Or, you can fairly safely drive the vehicle, but you must ensure you don't touch any metal. DO NOT GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE, unless it is literally ON FIRE - in that case, JUMP out so you don't bridge the car to the ground, feet together, and then (keep your feet together and shuffle, don't bunny-hop) away from the wires. (Note: advice direct from recent training provided by Energex and Qld Fire).

    • @_BangDroid_
      @_BangDroid_ 3 месяца назад +9

      You can't _not_ touch anything in the car though, not without floating. But that's not the issue, the van is insulated by the tyres and now has the same voltage potential as the power lines, you and it will be safe as long as you don't provide a path to ground. Getting out of the car is the most deadly action you could take, so stay inside and call 000. It's the same reason why birds don't explode in a cloud of sparks when they land on 60KV lines, equipotential voltage.

    • @michaelsteinbach

      @@_BangDroid_ A "path to grown" is not necessary to be electrocuted. High voltage does not quit work like low voltage does. All you need is a dangerous voltage gradient and you can die. Let's say there is a 7200V wire on the ground. It is radiating 7200 volts around it into the ground. If you walk up to it, eventually there will be a point where you take a step and your leading foot is at a higher voltage than your trailing foot, and ZAP through you.

    7:07 that intersection and the one a little further back are pretty notorious around our area for having terrible drivers, had one pull out right in front of me on a dark and rainy night once and I barely stopped in time

    The last clip isn't an insurance fraud, the car wanted to exit the freeway and he did the thing where he just stopped in the middle of the road instead of doing a U-turn later. You can see his left indicator is on and he gets stuck by the motorbike in the left lane. Really stupid and dangerous by the driver. The truck driver has zero fault and it blows my mind some people in the comments suggest otherwise!

    I firmly believe that the best way to deal with entitled drivers like in the 3rd clip 0:58 is if other drivers were allowed to block them in and bash their car until it was scrap, tickets arent working and cops rarely see it when it happens.

    The car filming when the powerlines came down was stressing me out. 100% of the time in that situation you want to be as far away from downed lines as possible. Don't sit there watching and wondering. Hit reverse and MOVE! FFS

    Videos like this make me use up my weekly allowance of the phases "fucking hell", "for fucks sake" and "you fucking what?". Also a good chunk of "why the fuck?" and "how the fuck?"

      Listening out for four letter words that start with "f" and end with "uck" or that start with "cunt" and end with "." is the cherry on top with these videos. You're always welcome over here for some very expletive filled bantering. Fighting over the cricket, bonding over the premier league and late night kebabs

    8:00 "that's it mate, yep just...uh yeah turn the wheel that way, then the other way that's it good. Oh and dont forget the pieces of your car lying all over the road, let me just get those for you, I'll pop them on the backseat for you there we go. Now, yeah just turn the wheel thay way and then back the other, that's good you've got the hang of it now. Okay, now do you need me to jump in and direct you for the rest of the way home?"
