I recently bought a Manti.......in fact it's so new I haven't even had the time to take it out yet. Watching your videos will be a BIG step up for me, thank you very much.
This will be something new to try on a noise permission I frequent. Great information as always, thanks for your time and effort. you put into this, much appreciated. We are all learning together.
Experienced this myself recently on the beach. Really helped quieten things down and my trash bag was much smaller, in fact hardly any trash at all really… best find was a silver single ruby ring 👍🏼
Thanks for the, there has to be more, attitude. It is so nice to see someone having teachable moments. Unlike many others who just want a free metal detector. Thank you so much.
Im always trying to find out what, when and why with metal detecting and im loving getting to grips with the manti, its like pandoras box, keeps throwing up new things to get my head around but in the process gets better and better… amazing machine
I've been using this for a few months now. It does work and i only use this set up on the beach. I havent had as much junk and pulled more old silver coins than ever and im hitting the gold. I'm just glad SID realised it👍 and confirms it.
Great stuff Sid....thanks. I deffo will try this. I’ve not been using any ferrous lower limit at at all. Toddy from Detecting Scotland has always said hammered drop well down from that centre line at depth. 👍🏻
I set up as you advised previously it was brilliant but probably me but I don’t seem to get real depth on small target on pasture but a larger target i almost popped up in Australia I was running 23 sensitivitie
love the way your messing with the settings, I too refuse to just run the standard modes. Ive had my manticore for about 2-1/2 weeks now and im all into the settings and seeing what it can do.
ive been playing with the cores settings for weeks and i only hunt beaches and parks the best i have found is disc everything except 4mm north and south of the line right the way accross i still get coins rings small ear rings at any depth and have a realy quite ride, signals at deep depths can be muddled but are still non ferrous.
Excellent review young Sidney 👍I’d say the non ferrous was like a cork ,your explanation is spot on. Just waiting for your video out in the field now using this👍
Im out Wednesday on a celtic /roman field thats been detected so this will be a great test to see if these adjustments still pick out targets amongst the iron even after its had a group dig on…. Will be interesting
Hello Sid. Very interesting conclusion indeed. I have pre ordered my manticore from October and it came around middle of February so i must have a bit more time in it.i would like also to say that i started the hobby with that machine , i took a decision and i came through with it and even though i am a noob to the hobby and i have been detecting for a couple of months, i have already found a gold ring and a silver ring in the same field another detectorist had already searched with a quest q30 so i am quite happy about it . I like technology and computers a lot and i can understand them and that is why i took manticore as a first machine. It is a mini computer like a raspberry pi 4 embedded in a high powered underwater high sensitivity coil, the programmers can change everything if they want to you can be sure for that!! They could probably make it into a different detector with an update if they want to because the main technology behind it seems solid. First things first : the way you approach the learning curve in your videos is amazing. I dont often leave comments. About my observations over the machine and that maybe another point to look at. i have been searching with All ter High conductors , updated since the update came out, upper ferrous limits 6 and 3 under with the default ones. especially with the lower limits that in the start i had them totally open set in 0 in the fields of holland i dug so many signals that were amazingly big iron pieces such as horse shoes , good luck hopefully xD, and big iron pieces like a rusty sword. After i changed my lower limits to default 3 i lost a bit of separation and depth but i start digging less iron chunks. The thing is at default lower limits 3 its not a line that covers all ids some are still open all the way, and when you have something deep enough that it drops at the ids of the parts of the lower limits 3 that are totally open , and if it is indeed iron it will also show 100% of the time another signal at 99-98 id like a line from top to bottom and it will also show the id of the metal object so in a way i though the machine is telling us that even without any lower limits if it has a parallel signal like a line at 98-99 id it is a big iron piece. In the default lower limits 3 when you have an id and it has underneath some ferrous limits then the line effect takes effect as you brilliantly observed and made into a conclusion. Anyway let me know if you happen to see that parallel signal at the end of the id map when non lower ferrous limits exist .And i will certainly try to see how low can we go with a line in the hall id map of the ferrous limits so the "Trick" can take effect without loosing a lot of separation and depth or good targets lol and i ll tell you my findings.
Yeah its deffo something interesting that we all need to try and test, i believe between us all there will be a custom lower limit that unmasks good targets and still gives good depth without loosing too many if any desired targets… to be honest i probably wouldnt mind trading some tiny specs of targets that 99 out of 100 will be trash for a more stable and easier to distinguish search of targets… early days and obvs still gotta suss it out but worth sharing my findings and hopefully helping others
It amazes me that minelab produce these machines and seem to rely on people like Sid to sort the programs out to help. Shouldn't they have a teaching website to explain it all am I wrong
Been watching your settings and have set them up on the custom settings. I think you said 8 down and 8 up , that seems to work really well now digging less crap .
Works a treat, now with them settings idmf you get a signal that repeats dig it... the only tricky ones to learn is the mixed targets with iron that come from upper limits, trust ya ears
Nicely thought out Sid. Will give it a try on the weekend. Was thinking of doing something similar on the gold settings to drown out the iron without masking the nuggets. Thanks as always 🦘🦘😁👍
Just watch that lower left hand corner … I find the real deep low conductros drag down intro that area … not really even a proper trace, smeary broken dots… I certainly find that you can upper the middle section of the lower ferrious limits without too much damage…plenty of testing to be done, but that part of the fun 👍
Hi Sid, I am new to the Manticore and am very impressed how quick you are sussing it out. I cannot find out how to move the bottom level up da! Can you please help?
Only used the manticore once so don't feel I'm anywhere near used to it yet but I do see what you mean Sid and it makes sense so will be keeping my eye on this thread.
So with this lad what other settings are you running with it, or can I just put my machine on change the lower to the quarter lower limits like in this vid or are you set in all terrain programmes etc .
Hey Sis, thanks for the Video, one question : what kind of sound-signal have these targets "sitting" on the lower limit line? iron sound or non ferrus?
does it only do this Sid when you have the lower limit straight across .I found with the preset one a bubble on the top was iron ,i'll change next time to the way you have it set up . Thanks
Only just sussed it out so im not 100% what all the scenarios are.. but all across so far seems to work really well…. It probs not going to be 100% accurate as so many variables but… its deffo going to make it easier to identify a good target out all the previous tricky looking signals
I know this is going to work… on first thoughts i believed the lower limits were best set at zero… but after discovering the non ferrous rise when limits are raised is a game changer…. Can now identify good targets if you concentrate on the cream on the top of the limits 🤟🤟🤟🤟
If your relying on a screen for targets , your already missing stuff !!! If its a positive signal dig it simples , the screen is irrelevant and NEVER to be relied on !
Hi there sid so im at the point where carnt afford a manticore so im thinking about a 900 . I've used minelab all my life but the manticore seems to much of a head fuck. Id like your advice please 🙏
you don't define what yu mean by "good targets". rusted out crap will show way down there but anything with clean metal will have center line involvment. interesting idea but remember that this is a machine that seperates within targets so why would it not classifiy individual objects properly. sounds more like your enquiry is being skewed by the general ground (iron) matrix and the nature of these signals themsleves.
Deep targets and some of the iffy signals that have been so hard to tell the difference between the lower ferrous now you can tell and this will enable you to dig 20-30% more non ferrous targets. Yes the easy good signals will fall on the centre line and be an obvious signal but the lower limits glitch is a great tool for seeing the good n bad…. If good/non ferrous itll stay sat on the top of limit line
So funny how much people mess arround with the settings, and still having no clue whats beneed there coil with the Manticore. 2D suck and Vdi giving zero information on the Manticore, Basicly a digg all machine so why bother 2D or VDI ???
Minelab are always big on saying their new product is better than anything their competitors have , you know " this machine makes all others obsolete " sort of nonsense so I'm surprised they didn't make this a huge selling point. Perhaps you're found something they overlooked 😮
Big news about nothing 🤔 I never had any iron coming from lower limits lol so far lower limit looks like advanced discrimination for low conductive iffy targets pulled down by mineralisation
Its not just to help with iron its the falsing etc etc it will tell you now when a deffo non ferrous signal… before ya moan give it a go bud im trying to help
@@englandshistory last time I was using it my machine was discriminating small buttons or misshaped objects so I strongly advice to not using at all in case of let’s say mingled gold hammy or something similar 😂
