  • Oil change on my 2020 Hyundai Veloster N PP. I used Amsoil 0w-30 for my oil. Oil change procedure should be the same for 2019+ Hyundai Velosters.
    Tools Needed:
    Floor Jack. amzn.to/2S4bFzf
    Floor Jack Puck. amzn.to/36ibLfb
    Jack Stands. amzn.to/33XdALq
    Jack Stand Pad. amzn.to/2S4bQL0
    Oil Drain Pan. amzn.to/3kYjrY5
    Oil Funnel. amzn.to/2S67MKm
    Ratchet. amzn.to/2S1m52L
    Breaker Bar. amzn.to/343Gnht
    Torque Wrench. amzn.to/36bc2QN
    17mm Socket. amzn.to/336T2kp
    Optional:
    Shop Towels. amzn.to/2EE8mvJ
    Gloves. amzn.to/3mXgadm
    Hand Cleaner. amzn.to/3icJKYy
    -Start off by lifting the car and placing jack stands
    -Loosen drain plug bolt to drain oil, let the oil drain for about 15-20 min
    -Remove oil filter (make sure rubber gasket comes off with the oil filter)
    -Add oil to the new oil filter and put back on the car
    -Torque oil drain plug bolt and make sure filter is tight
    -Add oil to the car
    -Check oil level on a flat surface and adjust if needed
    -Check oil regularly to make sure youre not low on oil

    Thanks for uploading such a great video. I did my oil change over the weekend. The only issue I ran into was the oil filter didn't want to come loose. It took a few tries over about 15 minutes to get it loose.

    If you want to make less mess go to Home Depot / Lowe's and buy a big black plastic concrete mixing trough. They are cheap and great for changing oil. I have had one for years. Just got my "N" a few weeks ago.

    • @chrizzz619
      @chrizzz619  4 года назад +1

      J B Unfortunately I didn’t weigh the stock wheels or the aftermarket ones but the aftermarket did feel a bit lighter. The main reason I switched was because I tore one of the sidewalls from my stock 19, I switched to 18 and the ride quality did improve, the 18 tires are also a bit cheaper than the 19

    • @HH-ez6qc
      @HH-ez6qc 4 года назад +1

      CHRIZ619 I believe the stock wheel and tire weighs 52 pounds combined. With the wheel weighing 30 and the tire weighing 22. At least that is what I found on google, so who knows... I am going to switch to 18s pretty soon and try and drop as much weight as possible.

    Is that a stock Oil catch can or you installed

  • @Pivitone
    @Pivitone 4 года назад +1

    Curious why you used 4.7 quarts? The manual calls for 5.08. Are you assuming that some of the oil wasn't drained? I'd be cautious of using the dipstick for reference given the car may not be completely level.

    • @chrizzz619
      @chrizzz619  4 года назад +1

      Dan Oliveau that’s how much my car has been taking, I added 4.7 and checked the oil dipstick on my driveway (it’s a leveled surface) and added as necessary. I also recommend checking your oil when at the gas station filling up on fuel, of course make sure it’s on a leveled surface. Never put too much or too little oil!

      You should be fine with 5qt, like I said just put 4.7qt or even less and check and add if necessary. It’s easier to add oil then to remove oil in my opinion

    Hi mate! Great video!
    I have 2 questions.
    Do you loose the warranty of the car if you install a oil catch can?
    Do you need to reset the maintenance on the car? In case being yes, how is the procedure?
    Thanks 🙏

    • @chrizzz619
      @chrizzz619  3 года назад +1

      I don’t think your warranty is lost if you install an oil catch can, there’s a big list of parts that Hyundai sent out that don’t void the factory warranty and if I remember correctly they are, intercooler upgrade, air intake, oil catch can exhaust, (unless the part you replaced was done incorrectly or it is proven to be the cause of whatever part you’re trying to warranty.
      You do reset the maintenance light, it’s the same place you set it at for how often you want it to remind you for your maintenance. I can make a video next time I do an oil change if you’d like :)

    hey man when i’m jacking my car up from the front, my rear wheels come up. is that normal? also i’m on kind of a slope in my driveway so idk if it’s safe to even jack this car up in it

    • @chrizzz619
      @chrizzz619  3 года назад +1

      Yea that’s normal for the back wheels to go up, you can prevent this by raising it closer to the front or back of the pinch rails but the rear wheels will still lift. I wouldn’t recommend lifting the car up if you’re at a slope because it’s unsafe. I always prefer to do it at a flat even surface. Better safe than sorry :)

  • @Endeveroux

    So you just hand tightened the oil filter? You didn't torque it down at all?🤔

    • @chrizzz619
      @chrizzz619  4 года назад +1

      Endeveroux that’s correct, I always go by feel never had an issue in the past 8 years I’ve been changing my own oil, if I’m not mistaken the manual calls for 8-11 lb-ft but I’ve always gone by feel and never had a problem :)

    • @PacoRobbins
      @PacoRobbins 4 года назад +1

      I learned the hard way about tightening a filter too much. Did my wife's Challenger and had a puddle under my car when I started to make sure it didn't leak. The rubber gasket had actually pushed out because I tightened too much. I never go much more than hand tight now.

    • @chrizzz619
      @chrizzz619  Год назад +1

      You should be fine, but I would get 0w-30 if I were you. 5w-30 is going to be a bit thicker and is going to affect your oil change intervals. I believe they have this information in the owners/shop manual. It also depends on where you live (super cold/hot place), 0w-30 hits a wider variety of outside temperatures compared to 5w-30

Its also cheaper if I do it myself and I get that peace of mind knowing that the oil change was done correctly with the correct oil.
