DC's writers have done such amazing plot twists throughout comic history. If only movie studios could portray such amazing stories properly.
Double Martha is a solid plot twist
Zack Snyder's Justice League has a great plot twist
Don't lie, DC has the animated movies down. It's the live-action versions they have a problem with.
@@KootenaiKing I agree.
@ভাঙ্গা খারাপ lol im glad marvel isn't that insecure
Batman under the red hood is one of my favorite twists. The build up for it to be Jason Todd was insane. Also at the ending of the three joker comics where Batman revealed that he knew the real identity of the joker the first week he encountered him was pretty insane as well.
Yes, the ending the Three Jokers was brilliant.
Surely the Thunderbolts reveal is up there. When all comic readers thought a brand new superhero team with new heroes was gonna enter the Marvel Universe but end of the first issue showed it was actually villains in disguise
The riddler being the mastermind in hush was a great twist , also the heroes that survived the first crisis being the villains in the next crisis even was awesone
What’s the story your second part is referring too?
@@jakeuzamaki4083 infinite crisis
no
no that was just for the movie
In the comics it was actually Thomas Elliot. The twist in the movie was sort of a "double twist" to misdirect fans who knew the story
In Mark Waid’s Flash, in the Return of Barry Allen. Barry comes back after dying in Crisis on Infinite Earths and it’s later revealed that it was actually Eobard Thawne the whole time. It’s earlier in Wally’s time as the Flash and his struggle with Barry coming back and trying to step out of his uncle’s shadow. The twist is a masterpiece.
The death of Gwen Stacy was a big surprise but NOT a plot twist.
That was simply... the plot. 🤔
But it did twist her neck. So a plot twist...
@@andywiinters7679😂
I'm not sure if this moment was in the comic but in under the red hood, that scene where bruce plays back the voice realises its jason there (insead of the roof) and then alfred drops his plate was amazingly emotional
One that I often remember: "Lockjaw speaks". Crystal and Quicksilver have a child. And there's an awesome moment when Magneto (still Quicksilver's father at the time) learns his grandchild is not a mutant. But then there's a debate about exposed Luna to the Terrigen Mists, which is settled when "Lockjaw speaks" and we learn he's not really a dog, but rather an Inhuman who was changed when he was exposed to the Mists.
As always thank you so very much for the video.
(Then there's the moment Batman and Aquaman learn their father's were named Thomas... they were, but just kidding.)
I can’t believe they haven’t re-retconned magneto being the father yet
@@Pero-zl4jp Is Magneto the actual father to Wanda and Quicksilver? I honestly can't tell at this point. Is it just an adoptive relationship dynamic between them?
@@Gadget-Walkmen originally he was. Then marvel wanted to get pedro and Wanda away from the x-men characters (fox had the rights af the time) so they retconned it that he was never the father and made them have an “adopted relationship” bc they can’t remove the past history and anger fans more.
@@Pero-zl4jp But is he still NOW their biological father?
@@Gadget-Walkmen He's not their biological father but recently they had a lil chat and he accepted her as his daughter and she accepted him as her father even if its not like biological and then she helped him save the souls of all the mutants who ever existed and allowed them to be brought back to life
The ONSLAUGHT, in the X-MEN storyline was a true shock to me.
The Watchmen is just a masterpiece.
The return of Jason Todd was a total surprise.
The Secret Invasion was just so crazy. You didn’t know who to trust.
And I love the reveal that Batman had a contingency plan on how to defeat members of the JLA if they were to go rogue. That story put Batman at most dangerous level. Love it.
I really believe we could include Deceased. Its got amazing twists everywhere. Tom Taylor just gets how to throw people off
another great twist is that the league not only wiped dr lights mind but also batmans in identity crisis.
If Superman flew Lois into space she would be crushed and incinerated going through the atmosphere before reaching space. I know it’s a comic but I can’t help but giggle when I think of that
i think one of my favorite twist even tho i know a lot of ppl hate it, is that batman knew who joker was a week after they met and has known who he was the whole time.
8:41 There’s also a place called the Vanishing Point in DC Comics, and it has notably appeared in Legends of Tomorrow. Anyway, I knew most of these twists, but there were some new ones for me.
The Thunderbolts reveal is still one of my all time favorites
Can you do the history of zorro judge dredd Cassie hack qwenpool hit monkey, vamperrella moon girl & devil dinosaur and league of extraordinary gentlemen
The revelation of Tara Markov being a traitor - working with Deathstroke - in The Judas Contract is the twist that I most remember being stunned by.
I wonder what the reactions were when Jason was revealed to be alive in Under the Red Hood
The Onslaught reveal tops the list for me. for years, we wondered who the mutant traitor was. Those Jean Grey panels were legendary. Great plot twist and reveal. Led to an awesome timeline change as well.
Batsy is careful, he knew how dangerous the league is once they go rogue. Batsy doesn't kill, but his contingency plan on Barry and Clark is to kill them by planting bomb on Barry and putting a kryptonite bullet in Clark's heart. He knew that once these two go rogue it is all over.
I think my favorite plot twist is finding out Omni man was actually sent to earth to take it over and the way he killed his team mates
My favorite was when Professor X took the students out for lemon snow cones only to find out Bobby Drake and Deadpool were mysteriously missing.
The reveal of the vampire king in DC vs Vampires was shocking
The current greatest plot twist is when Variant: The Podcast will return 🤔😂
So when are you going to do history of DC Despero since he is one of the biggest Justice League Villians from the Comics?
What would happen if we saw these plot twists of comic history being adapted on the Big Screen or TV Shows?
Secret Empire is actually a good story (showing how conviction can be found in both sides, while also comparing how some people, even if they don't admit it, like at least certain aspects of the way the "bad guys" would rule) and the speech he gave to Tony's body (when believed dead) was amazing... The gimmick on how it was sold was the problem, but the story on its own is very good
Jason Todd was brought back by Superboy Prime punching reality back into order. He dug himself out of his grave and was hit by a car. Then Talia found him and put him in the Lazarus pit.
Ending of Irredeemable. It takes advantage of how iconic certain shapes are, and the fact that it's a Boom! comic and not DC/marvel
Wasn't Joker also responsible for killing Lois in Kingdom Come? I think it happened off-panel though.
Yes, Joker killed everybody in the Daily Planet building, including Lois.
Dawg, you nailed it. Even the non focus points were on point!
PART 2 NEEDED!!
I would say the true cause of the Flashpoint is pretty good one
The new secret invasion comic is SOO FKN GOOD. that panel where BLACK WIDOW TAKES ON THE ENTIRE AVENGERS WAS AWEESOME,
I think Jean Loring turning out to be the real killer of Sue Dibny was a great twist too, probably my favorite. I feel like I’m in a one person fanclub when it comes to Identity Crisis
I remember a controversial Spiderman plot was when Peter Parker was identified as a clone. This was later changed because of the uproar.
No Thunderbolts?! Doesn't even get an honorable mention? Pretty solid list regardless.
While they all ride the line of retcon/twist, my some of my favorites are in Venom by Donny Cates, where there are reveals about the Symbiote memory-editing Eddie Brock's brain
love these stories man. especially the long halloween. under the red hood was so jarring too the way jason look just like he did when he died. and i love the injustice comic book series
One of my favorites, both in comics and in the DC animated movies, was the revelation of Damian Wayne.
I want HYDRA CAP to come back. He's still out there somewhere!
Great list
Can you do history of the Elementals, Cyclone and Sandman along with Kurt Conners the Lizard, Rhino, Kraven the Hunter, Chameleon, Scorpion and the Human Fly along with the Tinkerer, Alistair Smythe the Ultimate Spider Slayer, Living_Brain, and Prowler?
Well Batman already knew she was pregnant like 2 issues prior, and Superman was trying to take doomsday out of fear of dying at his hands and not meeting his child.
I say the reveal of who actually caused Heroes in Crisis besides Wally West
Since you did a history of Marvel's Ant-Man, How long till you do history of his DC counterpart who's the Atom(Ray Palmer and Ryan Choi) since you already did the history of the Atom Smasher?
I'm shocked you didn't mention Thunderbolts.
One of my personal favorite from more recent story arc is the identity of Requiem from Infinity Wars/Warps. The concept has great potential but they weren't really able to deliver.
Awesome video
"It's so sad that Steve Jobs died from ligma."
"Who the hell is Steve Jobs?"
"Ligma balls."
Excellent video.
Astro City: The Confessor is a vampire. Great story.
Wait I might be wrong, but didn’t Jason come back because super boy prime punched reality? I know in movies and shows Jason gets resurrected in the Lazarus pit but I remember him coming back to life in his coffin.
you are not wrong.
I don't know, if I were in the justice league and found out a member had plans to take me out should I go rouge, I'd be glad and pretty impressed to be honest. It shows the guy is smart enough to realize anything can happen, and he isn't naïve to think no one in the league can ever go bad. Every group should have one in my opinion.
I wish Snyder could finish his Injustice vision.
Since you did the history of Midnight Man, Are you going to do history of other Moon Knight villains like Arthur Harrow, Shadow Knight, Bushman, the Zodiac Cartel, Stained Glass Scarlet, Moon_Shade and the Sun-King?
My favourite recent one has to be the reveal at the end of the current Punisher run issue 1.
Are you going to do history of Kryler(played by Bill Murray), Multiple Man, Cassie Lang as Stature/Stinger and the city of Chronopolis in honour of the upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumainia movie?
I love the plot twist in Hush, The Killing Joke,.
Could you do a video about the top ten worst comic book retcons an or plot lines that made reads and fans upset?
Dark Knights of Steel plot twists are the best in dc comics. Especially when we found out who were brothers 😭😭
Also the return of Bucky as TWS in Brubacker's run.
Ohhh, good topic for a video!
Secret Empire was such a Great Story
DC has the best plot twist basically
Winter soilder from the comic. I can't remember if this was before or after the Red Hood story.
Right around the same time.
Bruh did you really just shout out glass onion? Your Cred went down 90% LMAO BRUH
You could also maybe add the Superior Spider-Man twist too.
Hush should of been #1 up there lol
personally i love the plot twist of the killer in DC’s Identity Crisis
Doc Ock becoming Spider-man was a great twist with a great arc
Hey Aaron, what are your favorite Evil Supermen?
Last issue of the clone saga and reveal of Norman Osborne.
The Superman Red Son twist that earth is ancient krypton is up there too.
I'd watch a part 2 to this
The Joker shooting and torturing Barbara Gordon was not a plot twist.
That was the catalyst for the story itself.
Batman always known who the joker was
In Kingdom Come, where people thought an adult Billy Batson was Captain Marvel
How long till you do history of America-Chavez, Speed and Wiccan since these Young Avengers played a major role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness? Can you please do history of them in honour of the release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness?
Finding out Wolverine killed all the X Men in Old Man Logan was crazy
Red Hulk/General Ross
Where is the comic storyline where Winter Soldier was revealed to be Bucky Barnes?
What a twister 🌀
Hydra cap… man I remember screaming “ cap is hydra!? Wtf?!” In the store and people in the store bought the book after I screamed that lol I couldn’t believe it, neither could they. Even the store owner shouted the same thing lol!
What would happen if some of these shocking moments from these plot twists like Superman unknowingly killing Lois Lane never happened?
learning that omni man was the son of argall was sick asf
all great plot twists, but a big shout for Sue Digby (Elongated man wife) being killed and Lois lane threatened, and Tim Drake (Robin) dad being killed by Capt Boomerang in Identity Crisis, at the end you find out (after a few twists and turns) that Atoms ex wife Jean Loring killed Sue, and set up threatening notes to Lois Lane and hired Boomerang, to get Ray Palmer back. And at the back of that storyline you find out the JLA have been mindwiping Villains, when they find out who the heroes identities are, and even mindwiped Batman, when he walked in on Zantanna mindwiping Dr Light and tried to stop them.
Under the Red Hood was by far my favorite. However it got me thinking also, how a twist like that and character at this point makes it so that any twist involving Jason is now seen from a mile away. I.e Injustice 2 with the gun wielding batman, Arkham Knight (totally not red hood) was absolutely Red Hood, etc.
litterally as i saw the title i was like they have to include watchmen and it’s the first one
Wouldn’t the twist in Watchmen be the final panels revealing the truth will be revealed and eventually unraveling Ozy’s plan?
I will always enjoy the twist of Onslaught's backstory...
Superior Spiderman origin Peter Dies Otto lives
yes those were some of the best
For awhile in the X-men line before secret wars. Almost everything that happened in Uncanny X-men (Wolverine and Deadpool’s team) affected a lot of the X men’s series until it all got retconned lol
I would have added the revelation that Peter Parker for the majority of this entire comics existence was a clone and the real Peter had his brain wiped and was living as a drifter calling himself Ben Reilly. In the 1970s, a villain called The Jackal cloned Peter then the "clone" dies in an explosion. Fast forward to the 1990s and it's revealed that the Peter people had been reading since the 1970s was the clone all along and Ben Reilly was the real Peter Parker. The fans reacted like a nuclear bomb went off and I don't blame them. Imagine reading Spider-Man for 10, 20, 30 years, then finding out the guy you've been following all along was a fake. The Clone Saga was a crazy time. In fact, the Spider-Man issue where it's revealed Ben Reilley was the real Peter was my very first Spidey issue. Imagine my confusion. But it was all retconned later on of course when Ben Reilly died and his body dissolved like a clone's body would (and because of the backlash Marvel got, but not before they made millions of dollars by dragging out the Clone Saga for years).
My favorite plot twist ever is in 2015 future inperfect issue 1 the reveal is epic.
1971 Green Arrow issues 85 and 86 where we find Speedy is caught taking illicit drugs.
Is Barbara Gordon getting shot rlly a plot twist or just a thing that happens?
Nice video
