Batman pulling Jason Todd's dead body out of the rubble gives me chills every time I look at the panel. Like Superman's death, it caught people's attention (More or less because they thought it was Grayson), but also, the fans themselves voted on his fate, they got to see their decision firsthand. Plus, it gave rise to Red Hood, who's one of my favorite characters

*Fun fact:* Speaking of Barry's death, there's actually a pretty cool novelization of the first Crisis, written also by Marv Wolfman, which is narrated by the spirit of Barry. 25% of Barry's narration consists in pop-culture references, other 25% in praising the s*x appeal of the female protagonists, other 25% in expressing how much he loves Iris and the last 25% in actually telling the main story. Jokes aside, he epilogue in which Barry's spirit ends up in the future, sees an elderly Iris advising their grandson Bart (who inherited his grandfather's super speed), and realizes his time has finally ended and must now go to Heaven is just heartbreaking. There's even a full-cast audiobook adaptation of the novel that I totally reccomend, by the way!

I'd go for Bolland's "Gaze into the fist of Dredd!", as well. A fantastic panel not just for the visuals but for the characterisation and storytelling as well. Judge Fear is essentially an alien demon, a parody of a Judge who kills the living - who are automatically guilty because he sees life as a crime - by unhinging the portcullis like visor on his helmet so that the glimpse of his terrifying visage {which of course we never see but only imagine} terrifies them to death. Anyway, he tries it on Dredd, who is so tough he's immune to Fear's gimmick, and responds with his famous line and image. So much narrative and character packed into a picture of a fist being rammed through a face so hard it goes through the back of the helmet. Comics at their most pure.

    • @paultapner2769

Cool list and I think it's really accurate besides that I wouldn't have included #4 or #10. Obviously it's subjective, but with all the other ones, I could clearly picture the panels in my head without even looking at the screen. When I did look at the screen, I at least knew I'd seen #10 several times, but I only vaguely recognized #4 even growing up reading my dad's Captain America comics from the 60s and 70s. The death of Jason Todd, Green Arrow walking in on Speedy shooting up, and Wolverine getting the adamantium ripped off his bones were all ones I might include. And the panel near the stairs of the mansion in Giant Size X-Men Vol 1 where all the new recruits like Storm and Colossus were just standing there is still iconic despite nothing major happening in it.

Some that weren't mentioned in the video that are pretty iconic for me include:
    - Batman carrying Jason Todd's body from the rubble in Death in the Family
    - Bullseye killing Daredevil
    - The death of Rorschach in Watchmen
    - TMNT Return of Shredder - the panel where Shredder appears in the burning shop, rising out of the ashes like a phoenix
    - TMNT The Last Ronin - the reveal of which turtle it is (no spoilers here)
    - Green Lantern - Emerald Dawn I - where Hal exits after merging with the Lantern (such a boss scene)
Those ones definitely resonate with me as iconic (or maybe just iconic for their series in some cases).

Always wondered if it was Barry who returned in final crisis or his time remnant, you can see him decaying into bones in C.O.I.E but after crisis you see him becoming lightning. Makes you think the skeleton was OG Barry and Barry turning into lightning was the remnant he created.

    • @jimgilbert9984
      @jimgilbert9984 11 месяцев назад

As Barry decayed, his body converted into energy, so it was the same Barry.
And after he went back through time, as the lightning bolt that gave Wally and himself their powers, and the bolt disappeared, it actually merged with the Speed Force. That's how he was able to reach out from the Force and help the other speedsters pull Superboy Prime into the Speed Force in Infinite Crisis.
He was still in there to be pulled out by Wally to help defeat Darkseid in Final Crisis.

I think the cover of Green Lantern/Green Arrow no. 85, where it shows GL and GA discovering speedy in the thralls of addiction. That image just sticks with me and although it was a simple anti-drug campaign it made more waves in the industry than they could’ve anticipated.

For me, was the panel where Wolverine and Spider-Man were at a draw. Spider-Man hand on Wolverine neck and Wolverine fist under Spider-Man chin.

Interesting that you have what I thought was number 3, the death of Jason Todd, in the thumbnail but it didn't make the list at all? I'm aware you want to have a more even list, marvel to DC but, before I began watching I had a toss up between two and three, JT and the killing joke panel, with supes at number 1. I still believe them to be the top 3 most popular panels in comic history. Thanks for the awesome content!👍🏿✌🏿

Another pretty iconic panel is the one from the final issue of "Watchmen" in which Ozymandias raises his arms triumphantly while shouting "I DID IT!!!" after being informed that his plan to prevent the destruction of Earth was ultimately a success. What makes the panel so mythical, apart from the magnificent three-dimensional drawing by Dave Gibbons, is the enormous symbolism that it displays, with Ozymandias's arms forming the hands of the now regressed Doomsday Clock and imitating the crucifixion of Jesus as a way of representing the fact he sacrificed his humanity in order to fulfill the Word of Eli. Besides, we can see behind him a painting that represents the undoing of the Gordian knot, a logical decision at the level of Ozy's drastic measure to "save" humanity

Hard to pick just 10 individual panels, but I think Wolverine being incinerated by the Sentinel in Days of Future Past should make any list

Good list but No Death of Supergirl or death of Jason Todd? Could make a strong argument for Speedy is a Junkie too
You could make an entire list like this just from The Dark Knight Returns panels

I would put two other DC panels in the top 10: Batman holding the broken, lifeless body of Robin (Jason Todd) after Joker killed Robin, and Superman holding the broken, lifeless body of his cousin Supergirl after she sacrificed herself in Crisis on Infinite Earths.
