Unbelievable, still remember vividly when I watched it live. The tension was unbearable, the drama incomparable, the shotmaking unparalleled under pressure.

One of the best shots I've ever seen. Not only is he on the full stretch and on the dead run, but look how far back in the court he is. So, not only does he need to place the ball delicately up the line, but he also needs to absolutely rip it because Fed has extra time to react. Oh, and he has to do all that while two points away from his first Wimbledon against a guy who had won five straight. The fact that it finished in near darkness - the trophy presentation and the flashlights of the photographers at the end with Nadal holding the trophy aloft made the match ever more magical and spectacular. There was another match they played at the Australian Open final that I remember for the presentation ceremony because both were so exhausted they were having trouble standing - it was agonising to watch them struggling to stand and leaning on the net to hold themselves up. As much I loved watching Federer play and as good as he was back then, his game had one big weakness and that was his opponent being able to attack a shorter ball with an angled cross court top spin into his backhand, which both Nadal (in those days, with his forehand) and Djokovic (in the 2010s, with his backhand) used against him to great effect.

Out of the hundreds of stupid comments that mostly consume the comments section, one can always find a person who understands the game better. And yes, Federer's greatest weakness back then against Rafa and now against Novak is that backhand of his which sits up nicely for them to pounce.
