    • @shaundhumphreys
      @shaundhumphreys 7 лет назад +60

      Yep. This was nadal's 3rd attempt to beat federer at wimbledon. The first meeting federer won straightforward, 2nd five set win to federer. And 3rd five set win to nadal. Nadal doesn't come back from 2 sets down very often. When he beats federer he needs to get the 1st set, or the 2nd and 3rd after losing 1st set. Nadal was doing a borg, having got 4 french opens in a row, and trying to dominate on grass too. He kind of managed it. Not as well as borg though who I got five wimbledons in a row. Borg and nadal are so connected for me. I don't know why nadal stopped being good on grass.

One of the reason this stands above other meetings between these 2 was the 'build up', Nadal had just beaten him comprehensively at Roland Garros, and Fed then declared he was more comfortable on grass anyway, and was still the best. Here after Rafa’s 22nd GS title and this one remains my favorite of his, by far. Still impressed by Fed’s fortitude to come back from down two sets and down 2-5 in the fourth set tiebreak. Baffles me how some think he wasn’t as mentally tough as his two counterparts

      He needs way more chances than the other 2. He's good in making comebacks. But his problem is to close out matches I'm a big Fed fan, but sadly he lacks the killer instinct. If he had that , he would be the best ever without even a debate.
