With Nintendo coming forward with an "official" placement for Breath of the Wild, many have assumed that it is through a convergence. Others have believed it is because they still don't have an actual placement for it. This has of course left the Zelda community with more questions than answers.
But in today's video, we'll go over the evidence showing how the game falls under all timelines, as well as how every split can end with Breath of the Wild without a convergence.

Legend of Zelda timeline: *splits into three equally valid paths*
Breath of the Wild: "I am inevitable"
Valid if you force the issue. Clearly nintendo have no idea about how big this series would become. The master sword for example, it has 3 different origins lol
@@RRRRRRRRR33 all fall to a legends my dude , i love that comercial for wind waker back there; every game has a story..(dramatic pause with epic music... or conan lol) but only one game is a legend
@@HDLink_mabinogi That's a easy way out. But considering the high (high, higher) fantasy nature of Zelda, we let that pass. What I think it's "wrong" is how some fans firmly believe that nintendo had everything planned out, how the story makes sense, etc.. It's obvious how there was no plan, and that's fine, it doesn't make things worse.
@@RRRRRRRRR33 Does it? AFAIK, the Master Sword only has one canonical origin story.
@@MLennholm Canonical, lol the Zelda franchise have no defined canon mate, Nintendo just create things on the fly. The only canonical Nintendo series is Metroid, it followed a minimal structure. Now Zelda (and Mario, DK, etc.. You name it) is all over the place. Nintendo is gameplay first, story later. And even if we take the "lore" of Zelda seriously, it still about a typical high fantasy were the princess, knight and villain are tied by destiny, literal avatars of gods fighting each other. This is very basic, nothing extraordinary about it.
I find it hilarious that one of the first things we found as evidence was salt.
Toad Taylor FOLLOW THE SALT!! FOLLOW THE SAAAAALT!!
so you could say things got... salty?
@@tuamatrem8304 .
The first time seeing Rocksalt up a mountain, I was like: ITS IN THE ADULT TIMELINE!
Yes. That’s when things got (salty) in the legend of Zelda timeline.
Nintendo: "Just make a bunch of games and let them figure it out."
RUclipsrs: "I'm about to make this my whole career."
Underrated comment
Little did we know... Ganondorf really is in BotW!
To this I say child timeline confirmed
Tbh, i think that BOTW takes place in all of the timelines. It is possible for a game to exist three times in the same time.
No look at the botw2 trailer thats what he is talking about
Child timeline confirmed lol
Ganondorf is in the adult timeline two and he had a small change of heart in wind waker two
I wouldn't be surprised if it's going to turn out that Nintendo pulled a fast one on us and Breath of the Wild takes place in a future _fourth_ timeline, just to mess with us.
Probably not. Nintendo most likely just wanted to make the timeline more concise
They dont think that much about the storyline. In my application to Digipen College I talked to a few representatives about whether the students were ever able to help on Zelda games and if the stories were possibly contributed to by the students there. They werent, they dont even think about the story until the gameplay, mechanics and base of the world and game are made. At least back then. I assume they still dont worry about story to much until they are relatively done with all the hard work in making the game fun to play. So they basically shoehorn in the stories and until skyward sword never really cared if they lined up in a timeline.
Quick let’s make our own 4th timeline so they can’t pull us
While it's certainly possible to create more ramifications to the timeline, it wouldn't be a 4th because that implies a 4th outcome to Ocarina of Time's ending. Whatever further timeline split they make in the future, it must diverge from one of the already existing timelines
A fourth timeline doesn't even make sense, because how in the world do they have any idea what happens in the other timelines?
My theory: in each timeline Gannon eventually gets all 7 infinity cuccos and resets everything to the way it was before skwrd sword with a few things left over and this happens twice with the outcome of oot being different each time before BOTW eventually occurs
Your theory but remade Gannon eventually gets all of the 7 infinty cuccos and is about to snap but them doctor robbie comes back from death and then all the other link and zeldas come and gannon start laughing and at the end The Botw Link snapped to reverse ganon from ever living in each timeline then he dies to save all Linkyverse and zeldaverse
And tingle?
the "7 infinity cuccos" got me so hard🤣🤣🤣
Wouldn’t everything happen again
I believe that they just _make_ the game and then, people ask about the timeline, and they have to scramble to find a way to fit it in. I dont believe they ever had a idea of connecting all the games at all.
Wrong.
Well, the games are *legends* . Legends are unauthenticated stories. They could contain truth to them, but they are not necessarily factual, and I think that's pretty much what Nintendo is implying with BotW. I think that's also why they decided to change Link's default appearance to sort of let people know this is a new era for Hyrule, which all the previous games being mere *legends* . It's sort of an interesting way to soft-reboot the franchise, which is what I think Nintendo did with BotW. This means they could include any elements from any of the previous games, and I think that's why we see things from all the timelines.
Keegan McGloughlin They only did this to please the American fans of the series. Again, Aomuma and co have been very explicit in interviews saying the Legend of Zelda was created with the very specific intention of it being non-chronological. They also were following a formula they were reluctant to follow. BotW is them giving up on the fandom and saying "we are going to do what we want and you can't control. We are going to do what we should have done from the beginning."
Glow Berth THANK YOU. Finally somebody who understands. I've been saying this for a decade.
There's actually a timeline since the first Zelda game. It wasn't just made by trying to fit everything together
“The most controversial aspect, *Zooms in on Zelda’s butt* the timeline.”
my favorite kind of timeline

oh hi Justin .Y I seen you on mr beast
EDIT: quick mistake it 5:37. That statue actually resembles Darmani and the Goron Elder's son. They are both from Majora's Mask which actually strengthens the child timeline sine Gor Coron is also under the same split!
Well, it's time to open Pandora's box and FINALLY do an official timeline video. The reason that I held off on this for a long time was because my knowledge of Zelda doesn't really extend much outside BotW. But since an official placement was revealed, I figured it was time. This video was originally going to be one, and would have probably been a whopping 25 minute episode. But since I am in my final year of college, I had to split it up. Honestly kind of scared since I don't know how I'll balance it with my channel, but I'll do my best! With this video split up, it will help a lot with my workload.
Anyways, that's all. Hoping to get the next episode up in 2 weeks (Also btw at 1:30 I said "my share of videos" but I didn't mean videos that I made obviously. Just a little mess up in the wording for that part)
See you guys! Make sure to subscribe if you enjoyed and share the video with your friends because it honestly does make a difference

the best art you won’t kill link because link is already dead In the fallen hero timeline
*then i'll kill him again*
Darmani can be seen as Darunia's counterpart and the Elder's Son to Link the Goron.
But yeah ...
That’s not darunia carved into the mountain it’s darmani from majoras mask, he has the same necklace
Fixed in my pinned comment, thanks for bringing that to my attention!
Wait a second. Darmani was a resident of Termina. Ikana castle was an ancient ruin thousands of years old and could've become a kingdom again. Lon Lon Ranch was a thing in Termina. Termina was not destroyed in ANY timelime.
What if BotW...... takes place in Termina?
Wouldn't terminal be destroyed in the downfall and adult timelines because link was never there to save it? I never played Majora's mask.
It is hard to say really. Some things indicate that the skull kid was from Kokiri forest and was the one who speak to in the future. It is quite possible that certain events would've caused it to fall one way or another. Plus the Happy Mask salesman had to get robbed as well and it is quite possible that the skull kid obtaining the ocarina of time made the situation much much much worse than it would've been. Who knows how many times the Skull Kid rewound time to mess with everyone before losing it to you.
Lon Lon Ranch didn't exist in Termina; there was Romani Ranch, but its layout is completely different from Lon Lon's and it's Lon Lon Ranch that you find the ruins of in Breath of the Wild.
I highly doubt that the Skull Kid would have even been ABLE to rewind time, because it was only the Goddess of Time that even helped Link do so with the Song of Time. The Skull Kid would have had to have known the song at least, but why would he know that song? He also doesn't seem to realize what the Ocarina of Time is, or that it's in any way significant.
I think Zelda wasn't made to have a timeline and Nintendo was like "uhhhh"
I remember Aonuma saying that BotW's place in the timeline was deliberately not considered so as to avoid limiting creativity while creating BotW's Hyrule. I don't recall the full quote but it may have had to do with all the references you find in the game.
So basicallly they've decided to reboot the history by making this a new start in the far far future?
Technically with the sequel, Ganondorf will probably return. Therefore: the argument of BoTW only being in the fallen timeline is wrong since Ganondorf exists under Hyrule castle.
Yes!
Why would it be wrong? If it does fall into the downfall time line wouldn’t link of fought ganondorf in OOT?
Andy Mares OOT is when the spilt happens. A Link to The Past is the first game of the downfall timeline.
@@andymares3594 ganondorf has never appeared in the fallen hero timeline
@@OreganoParsley He did. Ocarina Of Time still happened in the Fallen Timeline, it's just that Ganondorf transformed into Ganon at the end and won. Ganon died, however, since Ganondorf embodies Demise's curse, he's destined to eventually return in some form. It's almost certain that another reincarnation just showed up later down the line after the previous one was killed.
The last appearance of the Master Sword in the decline timeline is actually A Link Between Worlds. The "forever" in ALTTP didn't really hold up great.
I like to think that each timeline had an alternate version of the events. Like no matter what happens this certain city will eventually be built no matter what or this certain Goron will become important for the same reasons in a different timeline. Aka there is no butterfly effect in the Zelda timeline, some things are just fated to happen
13:00 The Master Sword appears in the Korok Forest because Zelda places it there after Link falls to Ganon, we see that in the flashback upon pulling out the sword. We don't know how Link came into possession of it before that point. Its modern day placement in the forest shouldn't have anything to do with the preceding games.
You do know that Link knows the Great Deku Tree. It itself mentions this when you first me it.
It's in the forest because Zelda put it there ... in a pedestal already set up to receive it, watched over by the Great Deku Tree. It seems pretty likely that that's where Link got it from a hundred years ago too...
what kinda creates a disconnect is that the forest in a link to the past is most likely meant to be the zitadell of time and the great plateau is a rebuilt from the time before ganon ruined hyrule castle....but that does not line up with the geographical locations of the older games.
this is actually one of the best theories I've ever seen regarding the timeline.
Thanks! I think the trick is to not create a timeline video with only one split in mind. You have to look at all the evidence for all timelines, not just one :)
@@NintendoBlackCrisis No problem! And I agree with what you said, you need to look at all the evidence for all timelines uwu

Nah it is the best :D
the best art Dew it. Release your anger. Strike him down...
I'm responding a year later but also Urbosa also mentions a tale of Ganon once being a Gerudo so they acknowledge him turning into the beast thing he is.
I finally realized what happened, why the GREAT colamity was so week.....and overall dissapointing. It's simple, it's not all of Gannon , but only a single peace of it, a very very small peace if his mallace.
Notice, you fight him in the sheka lab that 10,000 tears ago . This means that he was being tested on, later on we find this testing was furtherd by the yega . This is why he is covered in the technology of the sheka clan. But as I said I......YOU FIND HIM LOCKED IN A LABRATORY!!! Meaning the Gannon we fight, who has no thought process, no plan, no nothing, he is just locked away down there and brakes out....so here is my thoughts on this.
After the defeated Gannon 10,000 years ago , they took a small fragment of Gannon and revived this small portion of him. This would mean Gannon could never reincarnat, never reach his full and true power again , because he was already alive in some small portion, this and them they locked him in there labratory to never be seen again. But they warned there children about his return so they would never grow to week to defeat him. Not being able move on gannons spirit starts to take control of the gardiams and manipulates the yega to Mont his roting body with the technology , knowing that he could not control his body himself. This is why the spirit of Gannon is flying around the castle but you never fight him. This is also why link and Zelda reincarnated, because Gannon never died, and they only reincarnated after colamity gammon was Strong enough, this is why it took 10,000 years instead of the normal 1,000 in most Zelda games. This is why mallis is a black goop, it's rotting flesh, this is why Gannon is so week, it's because it's not actually Gannon, but instead his rotting corps kept alive to provent the cycle from repating it's self. An attempt that faild
Thank you so much for reading this have an amazing day and God bless

And now, we have the sequel of botw
Boi I've never played a Zelda game apart from BOTW, so I barely know what the hell is going on in half your videos, but watching all these theories makes be get that little bit extra knowledge about the timelines. I read someone's opinion of BOTW's placement, and they said that Nintendo might be trying to 'refresh' the timeline, and (to me) it makes sense. Maybe BOTW is like underlining all the timelines and when more games are made, the timeline will start to make sense, and then Nintendo will say what BOTW falls under. BUT I don't really understand the whole timeline debate, so I may be completely wrong (don't kill me). 👍
MusicMay no, you are likely right. nintendo does seem like they are trying to make a soft reboot to the timeline. they have already retconed their previous official timeline to remake it. nintendo is making big moves and bringing the zelda series to a single cohesive timeline is likely a goal they are trying to meet
You should try out ocarina of time
There should be no debate at all but idiots point to a random statue or a location name rather than actual story elements. Literaly no story elements in this game point to child timeline. They point to adult and downfall. Royal family has full triforce (only adult and downfall) Ruto was a sage and fought ganon with the hero and princess (adult and downfall) King naming daughter Zelda after tradition (only downfall timeline does this)
Your ass needs to play Twilight Princess Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time ASAP
That86guy Patrick your ass needs to actually play Zelda....asap
So.
Basically, Botw is a compilation of the best Zelda games according to metacritic?
Skyward sword, Ocarina of time, Majora's mask, A Link to the past, Wind Waker and Twilight Princess.
Botw is basically a dragonbreak
Wow great video! This is the first that covers everything! The thing about the Master Sword's in the end was even new to me.

Right after you beat divine beast noboris urbousa says that ganon was a gurudo once
Haven't watched this video yet, but I personally believe the timelines merged, I believe that the Golden Goddesses are a sort of higher dimensional being, unaffected by the timeline split, therefore when the Golden Goddesses flooded Hyrule in the Wind Waker, these were the same Golden Goddesses who had statues built of them in Twilight Princess, and who manifested as Oracles in Ages and Seasons. There isn't a group of Din, Nayru, and Farore of the Adult, Child, and Downfall timelines, there's only three, if you split the timelines one million times, there'd still only be three. At some point, the Goddesses chose to merge the timelines for some unknown reason, maybe to make it easier to end the Curse of Demise in all timelines. They set about unifying the timeline, picking and choosing things from each and placing them in a single timeline, while muddying the memories of the past timelines until they're nothing but myths to the modern inhabitants. The River Zora had existed once, and some may tell tales about them, but they may not exist in this timeline. The Rito evolved from the Zora, yet no one seems to remember this, and if any would speak of it, it would likely be considered myth. The Triforce of Courage could not be taken from one timeline to another, and it shattered as the Hero of Time returned to the past with it, yet he still gained the Child Timeline's Triforce of Courage none the less. I believe the Goddesses intervened here too, both assuring the Triforce piece would shatter to train a new hero in the future the Hero of Winds, and to assure the Hero of Time retained a piece of the Triforce to prove his claims to the Royal Family.
I'd love if Nintendo would find a way to bring the timelines together, and allow all of the Links to meet up. That'd be cool, but alas, that would surely never happen. Or maybe, this map was a mix of all the others, and this is a merger. Woah man, aliens. That's what I'm going with.
I agree. I think that the reason Breath of the Wild takes place in all timelines is bc it takes place so far into the future that the history of Hyrule has been forgotten and obscured due to time and therefore the timelines are not really timelines but different versions of the same legend
Teacher: “Cmon the test isn’t that hard!”
The Test:
to get any definite answers, we're just going to have to wait until future Zelda games to give us more evidence. Maybe it's a new timeline or maybe Nintendo hired Deadpool to go back in time to fix continuity issues. Also gotta remember; it's just a game. Also, it's a game franchise that was never intended to become the huge success it is today.
Yeah but that's boring. Wrong or not it's fun to speculate and connect things, not only that it could even give the Zelda creators themselves new ideas to use.
My opinion is that it's in all three timelines and none of them. I'll explain. Impa says "faded into legend" and King Hyrule says "stories of Ganon", as you mention.
But I have a different take: None of the three timelines actually happened in Breath of the Wild. The three timelines are, in fact, the "legends of Zelda", fairy tales concocted by the inhabitants of Hyrule, embellished over thousands of years and bearing little resemblance to what actually happened. Spirit Tracks? Just a fairy tale. The otherworldly Twilight dimension? Myth. P-bags? Legend. The Legend of Zelda.
You blew my boyfriends mind, now i have to take him to a mental hospital~
This is what I've been saying! One roommate of mine refuses to accept this and treats it as a cop out and I'm like "no it's genius!"
Doesn’t that just basically erase all the other games though? That’s shitty. It is like saying all our attachments to past Zelda games and lore don’t matter anymore.
@@2yoyoyo1Unplugged I don't think so. My view of it is similar to how the history of the world is. We know a lot about it but there are elements of our history that are muddy or inconsistent with other theories. It's the same way with Hyrule. Many elements of the known timeline are true, but much of the records conflict with each other. That's where the timeline split and different records of history come in. Much of it is true, but there's no way to know for sure which parts of it are or are not.
I have always seen each Zelda game as a different legend, a fairy tale story. Since all of the Hyrule history was just passed down by generations everything got twisted and different legends of the events were told. There is some truth to each of them and some of it is made up by generations of hylians
I honestly think it
Would be awesome if all of the timelines came back together
I said thy to my wife. That some cataclysm merged at the end of each time line.

Yeah in the NA release (maybe in worldwide releases) you can go to settings and change the language for the voices in cutscenes. (Japanese is one of them)
Our version is vastly inferior to both the Japanese and oddly the Russian versions. Could be worse, we could have the Spanish version.
Child is the strongest one to place it. In Twilight Princess, Shad was studying ancient Hylian technology, and saw the start of excavating it (Owl Statues and the Dominion Rod). It could be easy to see the discovery of the guardians etc as the endgame of that.
Hmmm ...
There more than one Gate of Time in Skyward Sword, one was near Lanayru were advanced technologies were made out the Timseshift Stone ore they extracted from the earth.
Those Sheikahs came from the past !
I believe that almost all successful Zelda games are dumped in the child timeline..
@@yks5656 Even Four Sword Adventure ? The game was good, but not enough to be compared to the others ...
lololol no. there are NO story elements in BOTW that point to child timeline. None. Not. a. single. one. they all point to downfall
There are some, same with both Downfall and Adult. Nintendo designed it so it was up to interpretation really.
I know I'm responding a whole four years late, but I've thought a lot about this myself and done some digging in the past month. As we know, Impa talks about Hyrule having a cyclical history of conflicts with Ganon, and that each conflict has faded into legend. Creating a Champion goes a step further to say that these legends are so old, no one knows what actually happened and what didn't. (Although everyone seems to have some knowledge of the events of Ocarina of Time, considering the names of the Divine Beasts and the Zora history involving Ruto being a sage...) Creating a Champion also brought up in the History of Hyrule section that in the Era of Myth, Ganondorf becomes Dark Beast Ganon, and Link and Zelda combine their powers to seal him (it doesn't mention the Sages, although they aren't entirely excluded from the actual events, as it could just be that they weren't written down). Dark Beast Ganon certainly references Twilight Princess (which I haven't finished yet, so I may be wrong, but Link and Zelda are the ones to seal him, with no Sages present), but Ganondorf transforms into a beast in every other timeline split as well, although he reverts to a human again in the adult timeline following OoT. (He stays a beast in the fallen timeline, and becomes Dark Beast Ganon later on down the line in the child timeline.) Even the way Hyrule's history was written in Creating a Champion leaves the options open for BotW to be an outcome of every timeline, which I think is really cool! There are a few things that I've wondered how to reconcile, like Rito and Zora both existing if it could literally be any timeline, but the Zora's evolution to the Rito was pretty conditional, but it could just be that with enough passage of time, they could've evolved anyway... (Basically, my overthinking brain says that even if the same basic events would happen at the end of every timeline, some small details have gotta be different, right? So therefore, looking at it from a real world perspective, depending on which timeline you're following, certain details would change from timeline to timeline, so different versions of BotW exist where minor details are tweaked depending on the timeline, but I'm pretty much just overthinking at this point. Of course, it's not realistic for evidence for three separate pasts to exist, but it's a game, and the evidence for each timeline is just there more for our sake. To the Hyruleans, their distant past is a jumbled up mess of myths and legends that no one can truly decipher.) Anyways, I know I've sort of rambled by this point, but I have one more point that I thought about. In her Subdued Ceremony speech, Zelda references all the timelines. The names of the Divine Beasts are clear references to the Sages (and Medli(?), who is also a sage from a different era). This has lead me to think that regardless of timeline, it seems likely that knowledge of the events of all three timelines exist. (This also makes sense given the fact that no one knows which legends are true stories and which aren't, because there are so many and some of them don't add up.) While having knowledge of the adult timeline OoT events in the child timeline makes sense because Link and Zelda would be talking about it, it doesn't make as much sense anywhere else, so honestly, my only explanation is the copout of either Zelda had a dream or a Sheikah somewhere saw other timelines with their clairvoyance, lol. That being said, I have my own personal theories on which timeline BotW seems to fit into best, but I do love the concept of making it a possibility in any timeline, especially as a way to reunify the timeline :) It's a really cool concept that leaves options open to the players, which I think adds to the fun of it, because interactivity is the name of the game, and giving fans room to put their own spins on the lore is a really cool way of encouraging interactivity from beyond the game itself :) Anyways, I rambled, haha! I just had a lot of thoughts ;P Anyways, I love this video and I hope you've been having a great day :D
The best thing I can say is if you think about the relationship between the zora people and the Hylian people they had to make back up 10,000 years before the events of breath of the wild during the story they tell in the game, child timeline they were allies (something could have happened before 4 sword adventure but unsure) but the zora turned on hylian's almost immediately in the downfall timeline, there was a moment where they tried to recover the relationship (LBW) but a rebellion was to strong and the zora ended up being a full enemy to the hylian's by LOZ and AOL, it could have started by the hylian's showing weakness for losing to ganon during the ocarina fight and it took a few unmentioned ganon attacks to realize what they are up against and then made the pact leading up to breath of the wild putting it in the adult defeated timeline. That's my 2 cents, I was for the child timeline but that ruto into a sage comment kinda places itself in the defeated timeline.
You mentioned the Koroks being only in Wind waker
The Koroks are the Kokiri’s true form
They originally were Korok’s
They just look like that in Ocarina of time because Link is a Hylian
In Wind waker they turn back into Koroks because of the great flood and in breath of the wild well I don’t know there just Koroks in that game
That's speculation. I've been saying pretty much the same thing though. I think that originally at some point between SS and OoT the Deku Tree reshaped SS's Kikwi into the Korok form (or something not quite Kikwi and not quite Korok), and then the Kokiri form was made for OoT Link's benefit (pretty sure this part was blatantly stated in-game), and after OoT on any timeline branch there would be no more reason for the Kokiri form so the Deku Tree would revert them back to the form he had previously chosen for them (or just simply move on to the next idea if the form before the Kokiri wasn't quite the same as the Korok form). It'd be a coincidence that on TWW's branch there was extra incentive for a change at that time.
I wonder about something though... the Deku Tree... The one that watched over the Kokiri (and whatever the Kokiri had previously been) dies in OoT (damage was too much, even with Link's help) and a new sprout is seen when we return there 7 years later. Flash forward hundreds of years and it has grown to become TWW's Deku Tree. How long had OoT's Deku Tree been alive though? Did he change the Kikwi into a different form or was that a previous incarnation before him? Now flash forward through the vague number of centuries covered by events seen on any of the three currently known timeline branches and another 10k or so more years beyond that to BotW's Deku Tree... How many times has the Deku Tree been reborn over that span of time? And he never saw the need to change them again in all that time? All incarnations of him have been happy with the Koroks? Or has that post-OoT incarnation really managed to hang in for tens of thousands of years on whatever branch you can follow to reach BotW?
Deku Tree Sprout is over 100 years old in WW. Aounuma said that WW and TP happen around the same time in their respected timelines and TP was confirmed to be several hundred years after OoT.
It's nitpicking a minor detail but TWW parallel to TP doesn't sound like it should be accurate. TWW's flood backstory parallel to TP, sure. (It's even quite easy to imagine during the first half of TP that it could have gone in that direction (though the actual flood story wouldn't have Twilight Realm monsters - it'd all be purely Ganon's influence on its own that's corrupting the land). Just instead of curing the land a few times and then the big bad retreats into his fortress and waits for you, he'd be busy reconquering each cured region and spreading his influence out to new regions while you cured the next region, and after enough rounds of that you'd have to accept it as an impossible task and the focus would shift to appealing to the gods for intervention and helping civilians evacuate.) Of course, even then "parallel" might be too precise a word to use here. "Parallel" events could each be the next really significant thing to happen on their own branches of the timeline (at least as far as we know) while also being decades apart from truly being parallel to each other.
I didn't say any different from you about the Deku Tree's age in TWW anyway. I said hundreds. Plural. I assume all big gaps in the timeline that haven't specifically stated a more precise value to be "hundreds of years". (So everything that isn't a same-Link direct sequel (that's just a few months or years) or ST (which states clearly that it's exactly 100 years after TWW) or BotW (which describes a history where a previous calamity was thwarted and then 10k years later it came back and then the actual game is 100 years after it returned.)) And historical events that shape each specific game's history can get that assumption as well when they're a separate event from a previous game on the timeline.
OoT -> big gap -> flood story -> big gap -> TWW/PH -> exactly 100 year gap -> ST
OoT/MM -> big gap -> TP -> big gap -> FSA
OoT/IW -> big gap -> LttP/Oracles/LA -> big gap -> LBW -> big gap -> AoL manual's "sleeping Zelda legend" -> big gap -> LoZ/AoL
(IW = Imprisoning War, aka Seal War, which is the backstory from LttP)
All those spots that say "big gap" could each be several hundred years long.
i mean...koroks are what happens when the state of the worlds shifts unnaturally and the kokiri evolve because of it. this happens in the windwaker out of isolation, but it most likely happens in botw because of the shift in order calamityganon causes....and of cause the changes in nature that occured without him, like the land being wetter and terraforming.
And everyone forgets about the Ritu. Fish people to bird people. Kind of hard to ignore and they ONLY happened in WW and are only seen AFTER WW in BotW.
Great Plateau is Castle Town from Ocarina of Time. That rules out Adult Triumph timeline. Personally, I feel like Child Triumph timeline is more likely than Downfall.
No, castle town is right before THE castle
I really love your vids. Keep up the good work
just found this channel, very very cool content my man
I like the idea that the timelines converge. It allows weird things in legends and the geography to happen
Yup I like that idea as well plus they made it around 10,000 years later (at least) which also allows for geography to change. I really like the timeline convergence idea
Back when the game came out in 2017, I always thought that Breath of the Wild was in the adult timeline for certain. It wasn’t until earlier this year where I decided to actually consider the other possibilities, and I eventually believed that this game actually works just as equally in all 3 timelines. Honestly, I’m happy that Breath of the Wild not only contains elements from all 3 of them, but also separates itself just enough from the rest of the Zelda timeline. I feel like future Zelda games should do this as well, so the developers can take the time out to make a fully fleshed out story without having to deal with timeline contradictions.
Anyways, another great video NBC!!! Keep it up!!
Every time i watch one of your videos the outro music sticks in my head for the rest of the day.
Maybe the large number of TP references is due to the fact that the sequel focuses on TP Ganondorf’s zombified corpse and they knew all along.
The thing with all this is that this games represent the LEGEND of Zelda
Example: the Twilight Realm exists in all the timelines but only in one of them Ganondorf is sent there
And each game style represent each way the legend is told...no ones really knows what happened after ocarina of time, so they tried (the hylians) to explain why the koroks are how they are etc etc
But even thought no one knows what really happened so is all a LEGEND they do know how it ended...in Breath of the Wild
That’s my theory...a theory that is opened to a bunch of new games and even new timelines
Lynels only appear after a long time of ganon control without a link thats probs their qualifications
4:30 lol that mirror was destroyed beyond repair
Your point about the yellow strap was the same point that I used to argue against MatPat's theory to my friends
So could we say that the timeline merges not before BOTW, but with BOTW?
"In the Wind Waker the sword is washed away with ganon, so how can it appear in BOTW?" Ummmm, idk but isn't it a magic sword? I don't get why everyone's so obsessed with the timelines when it's a bloody fantasy game with all kinds of messed up magical things going on. The timeline is the least of our worries
We like having fun with relatively small details.
why does a smartphone works? nah, its just "Technology"
9:43
Actually, that would make sense.
Just think...everything that happens after Ocarina of Time is probably a way to try a rebuild a true timeline.
Ganondorf seized power after obtaining the full triforce and gets either defeated or is victorious, creating the split and upsetting the balance of the world and time. And each conflict after that is an unstable method to rebuild a broken tineline centered around the Triforce. Heck, Skyward Sword made a wish on the Triforce and that led to Demise's curse for a neverending battle between good and evil.
The world must be set into balance. "For every action, there is a reaction. For every wish, there is a price to pay". To conclude, the three timelines are probably trying to become a true and single timeline and Breath of the Wild may be the inevitable period that is set to correct the timeline.
...I mean, I just thought of this on the spot. Correct me if I'm wrong. Lol
The gold head band explains alot, he died in OOT on the hero has fallen timeline , was in heaven got head band when ressurected, just
Because theres refrence to twilight princes is kinda a hint to me, at the end the little fairy thing says theres always another dimension right next us, light and dark, but if that's the case if there's one other reality, and they can meet each other by walking threw a mirror, well u find that mirror on BOTW kinda hinting to me the god that made the mirror or the god of the temple of time it is at work and I seen it as the ending of the game, connecting all three timelines that ended up shaping BOTW alternate final ending time line, so they can make another final ending again or branch off, in ocarina of time its all about time manipulation and creating a differnt outcome well this is the final outcome of all the timelines actions combined or the final ending for the fallen hero of OOT and he got the short end of the stick in the 3 universe connected paradox world, the story connection when they first started making zelda games was nothing but with the use of time travel in there games and brillant ideas they were able to make a story for there fans and theyve been just expanding and tinkering from there , we all asked for a linked story and thus came links time travel adventures..
And then there’s breath of the wild 2
so true
Who knows what’s gonna be revealed and how or if it’s relative to the timeline . I expect that we’re gonna find out if the Ganondorf we saw in the trailer is the same from twilight princess or a new ganondorf . I really hope it’s the same one but you never know with Nintendo. It makes more sense for it to be the one from TP imo
People need to stop ignoring that Aonuma specifically said that it has no connection to Wind Waker.
That alone disqualifies the Adult timeline. Period.
then that means the game takes place in the downfall timeline. the only things pointing to child are locaton names. Actual story elements point to downfall
Nope. Zelda's speech 100% a references TP.
In the downfall timeline Nabooru and possibly Ruto never become sages, yet they are both referred to at different points.
Aonuma and the game's director both stated that there would be continuity errors in the game's lore due to history not being infallible over long stretches of time.
So until they say otherwise, Child and Downfall are both equally possible.
For now you can pick whichever you prefer, but you can't point to any one thing or group of things that concretely allow any placement.
The discussion of this subject has been month after month of everyone trying to eliminate possibilities with very little input from the creators and very little being concrete in the game itself.
Most of it boils down to there being no way to definitely say X thing could not exist in X timeline because there really is nothing to say that for sure.
Koroks? Nintendo says Kokiri become Koroks over time regardless.
Rito? These are different Rito that may or may not have "evolved" from Zora.
Zora? There are no River Zora, but they could have reverted to their original form or the Sea Zora could have immigrated back to their ancient home.
Locations? There is nothing that states a building wouldn't be built just the same in alternate timelines.
It's all vague, and it's on purpose.
Zelda's speech has already been shown to not hold any evidence as she even references ALttP and WW. It has no evidence towards any timeline. Also what do you mean Nabooru and Ruto never become sages in the Downfall Timeline? OoT Link loses to Ganondorf in that timeline in the final battle. All the sages are sages that time, even Hyrule Historia says Zelda and sages seal him in the sacred realm
Not true about the speech. People are quick to ignore based entirely on it's content as a whole.
1) The translations that clearly reference WW and ALttP are all 2nd hand work by people not directly involved in the development of the game.
2) The other languages are Localizations, not strictly translations. Things get added that were not in the original often, and mistakes are made. (See "Ganon gave up on reincarnation" vs the correct translation "Ganon became obsessed with reincarnation".)
3) You cannot ignore out of hand that the first part of the speech is meant to be heard by all players and unambiguously references SS, OoT, and TP in that order. Meanwhile, the 2nd part is hidden beneath other characters' dialogue. It was so hard to make out what was said that people had to hack the game files to isolate what Zelda was saying. That was not meant to be heard clearly, it was hidden. That is the definition of an easter egg.
4) In context, the reference is definitely about WW. Otherwise, it becomes more vague.
海を越え 神のつくりし黄金を求めん時……
Umi o koe, kami no tsukurishi ōgon o motomen toki……
(When) crossing the seas, (or) in times when we need the Golden Power created by the gods,
The second reference is about the master sword specifically.
The entire second half of the speech is.
Taken without the context in parenthesis, it is a reference to WW since that is the only time the sword crossed a sea in search of the Triforce.
Take with the implied context, the master sword is shown to cross a sea 2 times, once in WW and once in SS. While, the times when we need the Triforce and the master sword is involved is many, SS, OoT, ALttP, ALBW, TP, and WW. Even if you narrow it down arbitrarily to when the Triforce is actively being sought after it still leaves SS, ALttP, and WW.
5) Conclusion. The first part of the speech is a clear reference, the second part is a vague easter egg.
About the sages, my bad. That was evidence AGAINST the child time line I was mis-remembering.
And that is the best example of how there is no definite timeline placement to be had in the game at all. And it has been states by the creators to be by design.
Until they say different, the timeline placement is definitely at least 10,100 years after AoL or FSA.
PS- I'm just arguing the facts. Personally, I'd prefer a Downfall placement.
I really hope it's after Zelda 2. I mean it makes more sense plus I don't see Ganondorf II having a reason to reincarnate like Ganon in the Downfall timeline.
This maybe a bit late, but did anyone else notice that the three games referenced in Zelda's speech in the first memory (skyward sword, ocarina of time, and twilight princess) also happen to be the same three games that three pieces of Gannon were sealed away in in Hyrule Warriors?
about the adult timeline, i read in the zelda encyclopedia that wishes made by the triforce last until the one who makes the wish dies (probably depending on the nature of the wish itself) not really sure how it would work since the king in wind waker was already sort of a ghost, but in theory hyrule could have returned after a certain period of time.
What if it's a 4th time line. The sheikhs do something cause correct me if iam wrong the way oot ends is with him warning Zelda
I think it’s either:
A. 1 of the 3 splits
B, A converged timeline
C. All 3 Timelines
D. It’s not canon.
I’m leaning toward C.
Edit: I’m writing this before watching the video.
Ruto and kuroks do not exist outside of the wind waker time-line, so...
Given how much traveling between worlds there is it's possible that we could never figure out which timeline was in because some people have simply fallen between the worlds and all their stories got mixed up.
I also like the idea of a gradual merger. BotW showed that massive destruction can happen. It wouldn't be far-fetched if after a particularly brutal slaughter ending in near mutual destruction from both sides, the goddesses merged what's left (survivors and all) into another equally exhausted timeline. From the pov of the inhabitants, it could look like an area covered in fog for some time and gradually clearing up, and then they'd see another nomad tribe with their own sets of legends and a bunch of ruins. In the current BotW environment, at most that'd lead to a "Huh? Were these people/ruins here?" reaction. Receding floods and floating islands are also good occasions to stitch several world pieces together. Of course, this is just pure guesswork. In this case, the merger would not be some big world event, but just the compassion of the Goddesses bringing scattered survivors into a world with more people.
I think all the timelines somehow merge and *BOOM!*
Breath of the Wild
How 3 timeline can converge ? It make no sense
@@angelo8606 Its like this: Every morning you wake up and eat breakfast or not. You can choose to have toast, bagel, or no breakfast. No matter your choice of the three you have created three timelines. No breakfast timeline, toast timeline, and bagel timeline. You go throughout your day and eventually make it home and go to sleep in your bed. You see no matter which timeline(breakfast) you picked, they all end up at the exact same place. You could call going to sleep the convergence of the three timelines. Like BotW, no matter which timeline you choose, all timelines converge at BotW, because it is inevitable.
@@togodragon But Botw can't take place in the child or the adult timeline :
- In BotW Nabooru and Ruto have been sage (not the case in CT and AT)
- In the adult timeline Hyrule is completely under water
@@angelo8606 Remember. More then 10,000 years have passed, countless time has come and gone. Its completely possible for anything to have happened.
@Powerade600 Why not? Thats kinda like making the argument of "Why make different choices? Your just gonna die in the end." Thats just dumb. Everyones entire life will end, but that doesnt mean we should all be the same and not make different choices.
The flashback when getting the master sword shows zelda putting it there 100 years ago.
was more talking on the fact of where the hell could, say the link from 10,000 years ago, asuming there wasn't another unknown fight with Ganon/Ganondorf befor then
I know this is the wrong video to commented on but it just came to me that last video that you had where you broke down the new timeline that mention four Swords I have realized that there actually is a secondary split somewhere and I can explain where a new split comes in which could explain certain events that we don't really fully know or grasp like some of these wars that were apparently done in between these other particular games I fully believe that that other timeline that was spoken about in part one is correct however I do know where a split comes in and after every video I have looked at on the internet I have never found anybody that has talked about it yet I may be the first
I think it ties the fallen hero and child timeline. Since adult timeline the shield saving hyrule from the flood was destroyed and completely flooded then in spirit tracks he was having trouble keeping control plus the adult timeline is all the same link and zelda which could mean they're the last incarnations in that timeline
I'm going to have to correct you on this. It is impossible for BOTW to exist in the adult timeline. Spoiler Alert, Windwaker leads to the destruction of Hyrule forever at it's ending, Phantom Hourglass occurs during the exploration for a new Hyrule, and spirit tracks occurs in the new Hyrule (which isn't the true Hyrule) and has completely different geography.
yeah, the only hints to it are the name vah medo(which isnt even explained by legends or something like that) and the salt. and zeldafans sure are salty when it comes to the timeline xD joke aside,i just assume its from an originsea that existed before skyward sword, similar to how the life on earth evolved from bacteria in the sea
The beginning is very funny
I remember reading somewhere that Twilight Princess was used as a base for some of Breath of the Wild's world design, so I'm not surprised a lot of things compare rather close between the two.
Damn that credit song! It put the biggest smile on my face and made my day. :)
You're Pretty funny once in a while, Maybe you shoul do some zelda humor videos :)
Maybe!
Wild Breath 2???
It takes a bit to make and edit a film or series, depending on which program you use. Try to be patient.
As much as Zelda lore and history fan in me wants the timeline to actually be a thing, even I have to admit that all it is, is something they threw out there to satisfy the whiners... I know how Aonuma thinks and creates, and all he wants is to create games with full freedom without having to worry about a perfect overarching story.
Man I'd love if the timeline were a real thing though, and that they had everything in mind from day 1...
To be fair most of the timeline actually makes sense and the timeline has been considered since they started developing ALttP.
yeah, its like they always had bigger storys in mind(like how oot,mm,tp,ww and alttp are all connected),but the overarching timeline was purely made out of both linking the experience together after the gameplayside of the game was already finished and fanservice. however, the zeldatimeline actually kinda works funnily enough. there are only really 2 or 3 major plotholes and they can be explained away with "yeah, there was a hero we never got to play as". the only game feeling really out of place is four swords adventures in child
Honestly I despise how it’s treated like there is only one game in the adult timeline, Wind Waker. Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks do exist in the timeline and throw a wrench in it taking place in it and justifying its placement Ron’s what made that timeline’s games so interesting
since to the references on every timeline, its possible that the 3 timeline become the 2nd unified timeline again, scramble all references fit into the BOTW(maps, lagend, landmark.), maybe Nintendo sees something coming one their next games.
The Sheikah never stopped thriving. They are the shadow tribe. They WANT you to think they’re an extinct tribe so they can work in the shadows undetected. How else can there be “the last” sheikah in every game and yet games that follow go on to have their own “last.” Plus, if you look hard enough in each of these games, you start to see more of the shadow folk blending in to the population. So, not extinct just hidden in the shadows like the shadow tribe they are.
Nope, the Adult one is impossible since New Hyrule is a thing.
This is CT vs DT, and CT is more likely to be it.
You said it yourself, there is a lot of Twilight Princess in BOTW, Aonuma also said it before it came out. "How I see !"
The Twilight thing in the traduction of the speech is irrevelant, both words can actually be used.
I'm still Child Timeline and I think Nintendo may be too.
Or they could've gone back thousands of years after new hyrule was established.
@@NoobsUnited9000 On a giant and salty desert ?
Hyrule was destroyed with the Triforce.
@@nonoctoro4933 ... No it wasnt.
It was submerged under water, the opposite of a desert. Enough time could've passed that somebody used the triforce to wish it back to the way it was
@@NoobsUnited9000 the earth would be too salted for plant life and it would make a desert.
Like ... most of real desert.
But.. they're not on Earth.
And the triforce can make it back to the way it was before the flood even if it does become a desert, because it's the triforce.
Wait a second.... Those Gorons next to Daruk in goron city are reverences to the important Gorons in the other games?? I truely never noticed!
And that's one of the greatest things of this game. Even tho I have this game for nearly two years now (and played trough it 100 times), I'm still discovering new things!
When I first watched this I thought it was a load of crap, but after watching your video on the Leviathans and their secret message I realized that it all makes sense. The game was created to fit into all 3 time lines because you can do most of the things in the game in any order you choose.
In one time line Link could take his time getting his memories back then go to the divine beasts and then go fight Ganon.
In another time line Link could go straight for the divine beasts and gear up then go fight Ganon.
In the final time line Link could pull a Leroy Jenkins and run straight for Ganon without even bothering with the divine beasts.
(Watches video)
(After watching video)
Im confusing
William we want live streams
Maybe I'll try to do one tonight
7:12 the girl could also be talking about city in the sky from twilight princess but most likely skyward swords skyloft
As we now now time travel and timeline splits are being used with Aoc and BoTW could the multiple hints at each timeline being referenced in game that the time travel goes back before the one we see in AoC so far that all timelines happened and didn’t happen in this current world, they’ve been accessed so existed here and then changed but remnants remained, time broke due to too many changes and now all have essentially merged in this future
or what if BoTW is the start of a 4th timeline "The Merge Timeline" or something like that?
Or what if BoTW is in fact the very last Zelda-game they will ever make? I certainly hope it isn't but I don't know tho...
@@muujina thats imposible
Well what I think
It prints money. Don't worry, it wont be the last one.
Yarnne Antierens do you know how much money botw made?!? i dont know but i do know its one of the best money makers they've released. they're not ending zelda anytime soon. we can rest easy
BoTW won Game of the Year and is the 3rd biggest series its definitely not the last game until the day comes Mario or Pokemon stops making games Zelda aint going no where
I think we’ll just have to wait for botw 2
May I also mention in the memory "Subdued Ceremony", when Zelda says "Whether skyward bound, adrift in time, or steeped in the glowing embers of twilight...", Nintendo referred this to Skyward Sword, Ocarina of Time, and Twilight Princess :p
11:26 Well (at least) a link between worlds confirms that Majora’s mask was made before the split as it can be seen in the game
Maybe it's blasphemy, but what if there are no timelines and Nintendo just makes games they think will sell?
I think they mentioned there was a file they had with the timeline in it.
mmmmmmexactly!!
They themselves didn't even acknowledge a timeline until the fans speculated, then they went. "yea sure!" when it was mentioned.. Their motto is to make a game fun before they do story for that game. This is literally a game series that has little to no connections with eachother. several games do have actual connections with each other. Skyward sword is pretty much connected to all of them (I almost guarantee if it wasnt for the fan speculation skyward sword probably wouldnt of happened)
13:20 I can do you one better. The Triforce *COULDN'T* have destroyed itself after the king used it because that would _destroy Hyrule._ See A Link Between Worlds.
I believe that both falls under a fused timeline very similar to the inevitable timeline. Hylia didn’t have enough resolve to juggle three timelines so she used events during hylian history to fuse the timelines.
One thing that i always find it odd was four sword adventures having so much stuff exclusive of the fallen timeline despise being in the child, but with this idea of passing so much time that everything would end up happening in one way or another, it would make sene for adventure to have those stuff aince it takes place a very long time after Twilight, it even have the reaperence of the Gerudo which where exinct in all three timelines
BUT THE STRAP IS GREEN NOT YELLOW! Or am I just blind???
Yes, it is light green.
It's green all right
THAT'S WHAT I SAID!!!
Also when dyed it turns into a lighter colour of the dye.
in zelda 🅱️reath of the wild
In legend of zelda, breath mint of the wild
Nailed it
in zelda, breath of the Wile E. Coyote
I’ve had this thought for a while now, but I haven’t shared it mainly because I haven’t figured out how to properly express it. I’ll give it a stab right now I guess.
I think that there may very well be some kind of timeline merging. I mean think about it, if the Zelda from the Ocarina of Time can split the timeline, then perhaps another Zelda from another game further down the timeline can restore it. When or if she does, perhaps the memories of all the peoples in every time-line converge and implant themselves into the minds of the citizens of whatever timeline that Zelda is from. Kind of like some kind of Mandela affect. That would kind of explain why everyone has memories of the legend of Zelda Wind Waker, but yet Hyrule isn’t flooded.
Again, it’s hard to explain, but I think one of the Zeldas, probably from the fallen hero timeline, did something to merge the timelines. And now all of the history and historical figures are known in one timeline. Shoot, maybe even the people and monsters from those timelines merged as well.
Powerade600 I guess I couldn’t explain myself adequately after all.
definition of convergence: "he act of converging and especially moving toward union or uniformity"
There's no diffrence between "3 different timelines that end in the same way" and "a converged timeline". A converged timeline just means that no matter which path you follow, you eventually end up in the same place.
I don't like the timeline stuff. I prefer to to think that theres just one link and each game is just a different adventure in its own. The timeline crap doesn't even make sense. Still good video.
The "timeline stuff" was always confirmed by Nintendo. It all started when "A Link To The Past" was announced as a prequel to the original Zelda.
The video should be called "Why the TIMELINE Placement Makes NO SENSE".
I will show you how on each point you make.
1. That item makes no sense since their is no story context to go along with that salt rock. As in do people other than the tablet mention this at all? The answer is no.
2. The lynels reason for existing has a story behind it unlike the other enemies. The lynels came into being due to the fact that Ganondorf after becoming Ganon the King of Evil(by getting all 3 Triforce pieces) created them with his enhanced Magic. Which is why they ONLY appear in the Downfall Timeline.
3. Chuchu's appear in the Minish Cap(unified timeline before OoT) and the Lizalfos appeared when during young Link's time of OoT(not child timeline since Zelda reverse time to before they even met) so yeah Lizalfos existed prior to the events of OoT so yeah they also can exist. Bokoblins existed in Skyward Sword as well(unified timeline). All stated within the official Zelda Encyclopedia with in game photos of the enemies themselves.
4. Location names are considered easter eggs that only Zelda fans would know which is why we don't use them in Timeline placement discussions.
5. Arbiters ground was created prior to Ocarina of Time because that was the time the Triforce was still full and the people the Twilee descended from tried to steal it. Remember the Triforce was split(Adult and Child) or in the hands of Ganon(Downfall Timeline) at the end of Ocarina of Time's multiple ending so that is another notion debunked(if it existed before Ocarina of Time it exists in all 3 splits).
6. The fact that you mention that certain areas appeared in the UNIFIED TIMELINE should tell you that those places existed in all 3 timeline splits. You are not helping your case dude.
7. Again naming of bridges and location are consider Easter Eggs. Stick to the story elements dude.
8. Good to see you remember. Also the fact that the Mirror of Twilight was completed destroyed by Midna herself at the end of TP.
9. The fact that the Temple of Time still stands in Breath of the Wild also negate it the game being part of the Adult and Child Timelines(the adult because a new Hyrule Castle was built over it in Wind Waker and in TP the temple was In complete ruins).
10. Impa existed all the way til the end of the Downfall Timeline and with her that means the Sheikah as well. Sad can't be said about the Child Timeline(since only Impaz remained and we never see the Sheikah in other games of that branch).
11. The castle is also considered to be mere design by the devs and not story related(you can't find any info on how the castle was built in game, trust me I searched).
12. Other than Daruk the other statues can be considered Easter Egg since they don't make a mention of them other then calling them "Heroes". So yeah not part of the story element(only Daruk).
13. Landmark designs and placement is always up to the devs themselves to keep things fresh. Which is why you should not use this as confirmation at all. Again try focusing on the story elements at this point you're almost halfway into the video.
14. The Deku Tree also appears in the Downfall Timeline as the DT events of OoT are similar to AT until the final battle with Ganondorf and Link either won(AT) or lost(DT). Kokiri's are spirits of the Woods hence they can alter their forms over time(which ironically enough is explained in the Wind Waker, dude go play that game again sheesh).
15. The design of Koroks where a design choice and not something the STORY NARRATIVE explains to you. Basically there is no reason why in BoTW the Koroks look the way they do. Koroks can exist in all timelines since Kokiri's can change their forms overtime as it was explained in the Wind Waker(heck with Ganon coming into being at the bad ending of OoT the Kokiri would have reasons to change their forms).
16. The head is made by Technology of the Yiga clan and they like the Sheikah knows that Ganon used to be a Gerudo(just like Urbosa herself also knows this fact which brings shame to her as we see). Dark Beast Ganon's naming is just the devs call back for the fans that remember the game that came out before(TP HD). The people there(Zelda) doesn't refer to him as such. Only refer to him and Ganon.
17. Just because it stated "It is said" is usually means these events "happened from a certain point of view". The tablet doesn't state it was the Hero who helped awaken Ruto as a Sage nor mentions if she was victorious against the Evil Man(Ganondorf). That is why you can't place BotW in the child timeline because Ruto never awoke as a Sage and the Ancient Sages from before OoT still existed from before the events of OoT to the TP.
18. Revali called the whole "Ceremony" a whole lot of NONESENSE. The story element of that scene isn't what Zelda says but what URBOSA states.
19. You also forget that one other outfit exist that you can get without the use of an Amiibo. It's called the Dark Tunic(which makes you look like Dark Link from OoT).
So far you making no sense. No one in their right minds would believe that after HYRULE was FULLY DESTROYED in the Wind Waker(as that was the King's wish) that BotW could take place in that Hyrule.
20. In Zelda 2, Hyrule was already beginning to see an era of prosperity with technological/magical advances that created moving inanimate objects(anyone who actually PLAYED the game would know this as well).
21.It just means that the details of the events that played out were forgotten. Hence why when people here Link's name in each game they do not think much of it.
22. In the downfall Timeline there had been multiple attacks from Ganon. Wind Waker's threat was Ganondorf not Ganon. Same with Twilight Princess. I don't bring up Four Swords Adventures since that event can happen in the Downfall timeline as well because the Four Sword itself existed prior to OoT.
23. Fade into legend is that exact details are not known to all. But WE as fans know the events since WE PLAYED THE GAMES PRIOR TO THIS. This is what people don't seem to get.
24. Which is why you must use story elements that connect this game with one of the last games of each timeline. The only one story wise that connects the past and present is Zelda 2.
1. The full Triforce is in Zelda's hands. Only in Zelda 2 the full Triforce was in the hands of the Royal Family.
2. Zelda's naming was due to a tradition that once again only was stated in Zelda 2.
3. The multiple attacks of Ganon in the Downfall timeline was always a Royal Family vs King of Evil, you can play any of the games with it and you will see it be true.
The problem with trying to "fix" it is that they made more of a mess of the timeline then anything possible.
Which is why I proved with this post that the Downfall Timeline is the most logical and sound location of BotW if we go by the story elements ALONE(which is what ALL timeline theorists should concentrate on).
This has been the debunking of the video "Breath of the Wild: Why the TIMELINE Placement Makes SENSE (Part 1)". I will be here next time to debunk Part 2. See you all next time.
Gold Liger Well said.
holy fuck nigga be writing an essay
Spectacle Rock is even in the same place that it is in Zelda II
This is so fucking underrated
Gold Liger Not to mention there's even more I found myself. The ceremony has more to it than the English version made clear. When the champions are chatting, Zelda continues talking and can be heard quite well in other languages. What she says completely contradicts with a Child line placement.
I also found two things about Zelda 2. In English the bosses are called Guardians. In Japanese they're called Divine Guardians. They were created defenders commissioned by the royal family no less.
The Champions in BotW have specific powers, ones that nicely line up with spells in Zelda 2. Jump(jump higher), Life(recover health), Shield(defense boost), and Thunder(clear screen of foes). Do these sound familiar? Perhaps these abilities were the spells taught by the sages of old and passed down
they also have endless potential possibilities leading up to BOTW, its a world with magic, parallel worlds, and time paradoxes, who can honestly exclude convergences or new paradoxes from converging the time lines, and also consider, that much like all the games have a fixed starting point as you pointed out, they could all very well have this set end point. if x enemy is only in x time line that doesn't mean that y event leading to x enemy cant occur at a later point, it could take 10,000 years for a time paradox to equalize and the time lines return to being one. events in x game happen in y time line at z point undocumented until paradox stabilizes fixing the time line. (but this way of thinking is a lot less fun amiright?)
Hey man, I love the Breath videos, I do. But maybe you should make some theories about other games? Like maybe Twilight Princess or something?
But... but... Link was defeated in this game (leading to the events in the game) sooooo problem solved😂😂😂😂 jk
You want to know the truth? None of these games were meant to be in a timeline.
exactly
Personally i always used Hyrule Warriors & Hyrule Warriors Legends as the explanation for Breath of the Wild's timeline placement with the events of Warriors & Legends weakening the barriers between the Child Timeline where Hyrule Warriors would take place due to the stuff from Twilight Princess such as Midna and Agatha and the Adult Timeline in which all events concerning Great Sea would take place (i.e. Daphnes Nohansen Hyrule, Tetra, Phantom Ganon, etc.) and my theory being that during said games the spirit of Ganondorf from Wind Waker somehow fused with the spirit of Ganondorf from Warriors and that this combination would act as a magnet of sort to the spirit of Ganon from the Original Legend of Zelda which combinded with the damage to the timeline that already happened during Warriors would allow for a fusion of the three Ganons to happen forming one more powerful than any before Calamity Ganon and it was his very creation that caused the three timelines to merge and rewrite themselves so every event from each could ultimately take place allowing Breath of the Wild to take place at the end of the timeline
I like the idea on non convergent timelines but 3 timelines leading to the same event in the future. That means that the game could take place in any of the three timelines but not that there is only one timeline now. That means there must be little differces between the botw events in each specific timelines so it is possible to place the game in one of them. I hope the sequel gives us the missing part to fit the game in one of the timelines. The second interessting thing it would be no reboot of the timeline, it's more like a fix point and after that point the little differnts in each line could lead the timelines to a new different direction.
