- Recently I had the chance to film out the 'railfan window' looking into the cab of the Bombardier Bi-level Cab Car from the origination point of Oceanside Transit Center to the train's final destination of San Diego - Santa Fe Depot featuring cab car SDNX 2307 still in original paint and EMD F59PHI SDNX 3001 shoving at the rear. This is the first publicly available cab ride that captures the NCTD San Diego Subdivision in its entirety. Please note that some very brief parts of this video have been edited out for security reasons and to hide sensitive information. No safety rules or laws were broken in the filming of this video, the camera was positioned in an area that is publicly accessible to passengers on the train. Thanks for watching and enjoy the sights, sounds, and exhilaration of riding through cities such as Oceanside, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Solana Beach, Del Mar, Sorrento Valley, Miramar, and San Diego featuring lots of Raised Letter K5LA horn action and traveling at speeds of up to 80mph!

I have added this video to my 'long cab rides' playlist. I would love to see more videos like this one.
Nice catch with the F59PHI!
Thanks!
Fantastic footage. The RL K5LA sounds cool in cab
Thanks!
You’re welcome! Wish there was more footage like this around
💯
great cab ride along trip video on the Coaster route from Oceanside to San Diego
You got lucky that the shade was up good stuff 👍🏽
We are all about that open shade lifestyle
This might be the best ride-along of a commuter train (or Amtrak) in all of Southern California. Too bad there aren't any front views of this ride going north toward Oceanside, or of any Metrolink lines (in fact, there aren't that many videoed trips of Metrolink lines, period). The only other front cab rides of my old region (I lived in the San Diego area for many years) are those of the San Diego Trolley lines, LA Metro's lines, and there is one front cab view of an NCTD Sprinter ride from Escondido to Oceanside on RUclips. And those are the best views, because you can see both sides coming up.
46:14 Blue Line Trolley to UTC Transit Center.
lots of people at carlsbad must have been a part someplace
How did you get permission to ride up in the front? Usually that area is taped off. Just ask the engineer?
Why are some whistle boards marked with W and others are marked with X?
IAm disabilied. Just recently had hip replacement. I purshased aLectric Xp E Bike. It folds up so I could push it like a suitcase and have my cat in my backpak. Is this allowed?
Yes
Was there a work zone around CP Ponto and Swami?
Yes
Nice video
Thanks!
Can you bring acat on lf in a small case?
Can you take the coaster to Petco Park?
Yes - ride Coaster to San Diego Santa Fe Depot, then transfer to the MTS Green Line and exit at Gaslamp Quarter.
@@LARailProductions thank you
Very nice and very clean compared to the east coast commuter trains
Thanks!
2307 is a Baddass!!!
I am up to ride the coaster Commuter rail
How come Commuter Rail and Amtrak trains outside of the Northeast are still using the 8-inch-high platforms with having to put separate wheelchair ramps, rather than raising the platform heights to 22 inches in order for the platform to be level with the low floor height of the bombardier bi-level coaches used in North America outside of the Northeast, and to also allow the new Stadler DMUS/EMUs to use the platforms? For example, why can't they have level boarding at all the Coaster stations, so the platforms are the same height as the doors/floors on the Coaster and Pacific Surf Liner trains?
Good video And good quality! I also film trains!
No inside camera?
It only faces the engineer and not the side section. The cab door can also be positioned to section off the operating cab only when the cab car is sandwiched between cars.
Nice, Is Coaster F59PHI still in coaster service?
Both yes.
They will be through next year to allow for the delivery of Coaster’s additional Chargers.
Hey, do you know if the LAJ runs on Track Warrent Control? Or is the whole railroad yard limits
Yard Limits
Could you not just mute the sections with sensitive info?
The cuts were done to hide crew members faces.
@@LARailProductions blur them?
Just a suggestion. You should zoom out a bit to eliminate some of the car interior. Show more of the rails. That’s what I do if I can’t get right up to the window.
If I were to zoom in, a few problems would arise.
1. Zooming in amplifies shakiness
2. I'm using a phone, so the digital zoom would result in lower picture quality
3. Generally zooming in makes the ride appear slower
@@LARailProductions my iphon 12 pro does a good job zooming. Barely shakes at all but o try not to go above 3x. I get comments about ride looking slow but I just say thats what happens when you zoom. I want to show the railroad not the interior of the car
Okay. Hope you enjoyed my cab ride. The first ever full Coaster cab ride on RUclips.
@@LARailProductions I do my videos with an iPhone 12 pro and it does a great job when I zoom in but I don’t want to do it excessively maybe like 3 to 3.5 X
Granted the best way to shoot these is to get right up against the window which is hard to do unless you’re riding on a Chicago gallery car
Should have zoomed out a little more. too much of the car interior is shown.
On my iPad you can zoom in or out so that your screen shows only the outside of the train.
Sucks half of the San Diego Sub is a quiet zone
Indeed
That’s the most irritating thing about some areas on the Los San corridor of the pacific surfline.

coaster stopppppppp
Amtrak
Amarack
Steam trains galore
You have created one of the dullest train videos on RUclips. Nothing but train tracks and its surrounding. You totally ignored the beautiful scenery along the coast that this train covers. This used to be my daily commute to work years ago.
My deepest apologies there, princess. Perhaps you should have taken the initiative to document your beloved spectacular scenery yourself, since you appear to be so deeply concerned about it.
