I wish I had known this when my Boxer was alive. He had itchy ears his whole life and it was a constant battle. It would have been nice to know that there might have been a way to give him more permanent relief.

This is usualy due to allergies ! My dog is scratching her ears as I am writing this now ! It’s been a harrowing battle trying to figure out exactly why it is she’s allergic to cuz I thought it was just chicken until this weekend when I ran out of her food that got her better and no store had it so I got a beef flavoured kibble and she’s been scratching ever since all over again despite already having changed it back to the food that she doesn’t tereact to’ so now I suspect she might also be allergic to beef as well! That doesn’t leave very Many options for proteine.. it looks like fish, sweet potatoes and carrots so far might be the only things she can eat … I cooked rice all the time and now I have no idea if she can even have rice… even though it’s one of the good grains … I’m going to have to wait until this allergic reaction is over for a while before re-introducing it to see !
But I mean , mostVets know this now , I have this special solution that cleans out her ears and I also put hydrocortisone on the the skin side of her ears ( just making sure to not put it in the actual canal though ) and I swear ..She only needs to take the Smalleest BITE of either the cat’s food or chihuahua’s food and she automaticaly has a reaction! Even when she takes regular benedryl she still flares up! It’s not As bad as it was before cutting off chicken for good cuz her eyes were affected then as well as her whiskers, her lashes etc the vet said that it went down the to follicle of the hair .. so anywhere they grow fur! And the fur around her eye had completely fallen or been scratched off!
But please, in the future … if u notice something like this,, Always ALWAYS bring your dog to the Vet! It’s not Normal to scratch all the time or to have ear infections all the time !
Dobermans are proned to them already due to the flop on their ears.. which is why their ears were getting cropped to begin with! My dog is a little over a year old and Doberman mix her dad is Purebread dobby.. I am seriously considering getting her ears cropped ( not to “ taper” them, but purely to make it a lot easier for me to be able to wash inside her ears ! Cuz there are Sooooo many crevices and lumps and bumps it makes it Reaally hard to clean ( I haven’t actualy watched the video yet though lol)

My dog had this. When we changed her food to eliminate grains she stopped getting ear infections.
What kind of diet? What kind of dog?
My pup also had the same issue. Red and sore ears. She would yelp everytime I touched her ears. My vet said it was a serious ear infection. But gladly it healed.

I read an article a long time ago that dogs who had constant, recurring ear infections should be checked for thyroid disease.
Yes my dog has hypothyroidism and he constantly has infected ears despite all the medications (for both his thyroid and ears) 😔
It’s amazing the number of dogs that are allergic to wheat- yet it keeps getting put into dog food!!
He's a Labrador! He will eat ANYTHING LOL. My lab Miley is like a vacuum cleaner. If it's food it's done the hatch. But I was able to to fill her bowl and it would take her all day to eat it. It took me many hours of training to achieve that. But don't leave human food on the counter or the table because she thinks it's a treat for her LOL
As much as I’m sure this poor dog is in a lot of pain and discomfort, I do also get the feeling he’s kinda playing with y’all
Our Shepard lab mix had TERRIBLE chronic ear infections. One time her left ear was just filled with black wax and discharge and was so bad I had to wear a mask to even get in there to clean it out. We figured out it was most likely she was allergic to wheat and/or gluten and had to buy the special prescription diet. Her ear infections were down but she was still red during seasonal or if she snuck something someone dropped. It’s helped us though understand and know what to do with our current dogs so we can make them feel better quicker!

Your dog should be on a species appropriate diet. The Rx diet is made of the worst, rejected garbage from the human food industry. The grains used in these commercial kibbles is contaminated with aflatoxin and mites (which is no doubt the reason that grain lot was rejected for human consumption).

Hutchy is so beautiful boy 😍. Allergies in dogs is quite common 😕. White, pale dogs have a lot of it, i think so. I am happy, no more ear itching, thank you, Dr. Audrey Shen 👍🧡🐶.
My dog Flick made the same noises when we cleaned his ears. He loved it! We miss him.

My dog constantly has ear infections. We clear it and then it’s back in like 4 weeks. And it’s been like that since we got him (he’s a rescue) we tried restrictive diets to try to and see what the cause is but it always occurs again within the same timeframe. 😂 he loves an ear clean but this time round his infection is back with a vengeance. Whilst trying to sort it out he’s now wincing shaking and full on kicking his ears to soothe. I’ve invested in a cone to hopefully deter him from sticking his foot in his ears while we try and sort him out 😂

Dog likely has a chicken allergy...my dog and several other people that we know have had the same issues with their dogs ears. Stopped feeding all poultry and egg products and the infections stopped...chicken seems to be a common allergy and its in sooo many products.

Please pick my veterinarian for your contest. He is so honest and he teaches people! He respects his staff and clients! He is absolutely wonderful! I worked for a couple a veterinarians and he was bar far the best. Even though I became disabled and can’t work since 2009 he was a still respectful if I text him for a issue! Matthew woods in spay and neuter clinic of charlotte!
I am actually kinda of jealous that salmon roll of dog food looks like something that you can pickup in the grocery store in America for human consumption.
Ps - It’s Importsnt to notice that TREATS also have those allergen proteines so Please be CAREFUL ! Eggs and Peanut Butter also Have the Same Protein which is what they are allergic to. So stay away from eggs and Peanut butter too ! ❤
Literally watching this bc my dog has a severe ear infection in one ear and it's been like that ever since I got her from a shelter 5 years ago. I spent so much money at vets and it won't stop idk what to do so hopefully this can give me some hope and ideas for her it's so bad
My dog is on a special diet--hydrolyzed protein--and i clean her ears and toes once a week. She also gets an ear drop weekly. This has helped phenomenally!
I've had 4 ear infections this year. I feel for the poor guy. Maybe she could help me.

I've found that peroxide helps ease the itching and discomfort.
Grain free food helps a lot too most dogs are allergic to grain and can cause ear infections

Ear infection and Skin irritation is DEFINITELY DEFINITELY ALLERGY ISSUES!!!! * Chicken* is a HUGE culprit!!! Other things can be Beef !
This Vet NAILED it as she mentioned Protein right away and that is Exactly what I finished writing right when she mentioned Doing a ONE proteine at a time!
