Last week my chihuahua mix ate 4 dinner rolls worth of raw bread dough. Thankfully I saw one of these vet shows that covered that topic and knew it was serious and even though I got her to vomit up most of the dough we needed to get her to the vet hospital. She had some dough and the gas the yeast created stuck in her stomach so it was very very distended and the vet used a nasal tube to rinse cool water to try and break up the bubbles, then suctioned the stomach contents out. They did this overnight a few times and placed an IV to correct blood issues and hydrate her. She did get some alcohol effects and I brought her home the next day while she was still recovering. She was spacey and slept it off. $2,300. learning experience. I'm thankful for these vet shows. It really helps you understand the various problems your animals may have happen to them.

Whereas they can be trusted better than human beings in other fields, when it comes to food a dog, even an adult one should be seen as a child who can jump/reach into food easier than a child but with the same lack of knowledge of the health consequences. I've never heard of pets eating dough being an issue. Excellent job on your part for being so knowledgeable on bread intoxication. The only pet emergency I've dealt with was when my cat ate 15 cooked spears of asparagus. How he ate 15 spears in just a few minutes is still a mystery to me. By contrast, Rocket's owner went for better safe than sorry - and my impression was that she was the least well off of the three sets of owners.
If you this kind of dog you have to wash his ears and cut the hair inside his ears frequently. The veterinarian should show them how to do it..by the way I love your new hair
Yes I agree. I think they should've done a bit more research about how to take care of this kind of dog with the long hair. But its also the vets responsibility to inform as well. And I think the breeders should be educating their customers too. These Doodle breeds require a lot of special care and maintenance...more so than people realize. Then they buy the dog cause its cute, and it doesnt shed, they dont take of all its needs and then the dog suffers.
no kidding good lord!! once a couple years ago my dog ran thru rain puddles and about 4 days later he really started to itch and a bad odor like raw meat and stinky gym socks times 100%... my mom due to working in nursing home care she had a ear looker thing and we saw a tiny twig in his ear... we used tweezers to pull it off, used lots of ear cleaner and antibiodic spray on the ears and 2 days later he was fine... holly shoot does a ear infection reek whooeee!!
Our dear departed girl Jenny (short haired Jack Russell) used to get the odd ear infections in summer due to having a wading pool as its hot out here where we live (5hrs from Sydney). From the first time it happened the vet showed us how to deal with it, they made sure we had a new prescription every year as there was no stopping her sometimes. She also loved bees and would chase an snap at them until she got stung, that was an expensive trip to the vets each time, but she looked funny with her face blown up.
On the 6th day of owning my new puppy I noticed that his ears were smelly and he kept scratching them, the next day I took him to the vet and after treatment they were back to normal in no time. I felt so horrible that he had to endure any time at all with the discomfort of an ear infection. I cannot believe it took these people that long to even take their dog to the vet when they knew something was wrong 😫
It wasn’t until I saw a video in this series that I learnt that dough in a dogs stomach could be fatal and it’s alcohol poisoning that would be the cause. That’s crazy!! This series is so informative for pet owners and pet owners to be. Well done!!👏🏻👏🏻🥰💗
The first owners seem literally abusive lmao. "He's staying away from the water" bruh. it's been a week and theyre already back at the beach and he has CLEARLY just been wet. wtf.
Do they not know that because he’s a doodle he needs his ear hair plucked? There’s massive amounts of hair in his ear canals. Have they never plucked it? Jesus Christ..
That poor dogs ears! I don't want to bash the owners but it is really sad that they couldn't recognize the major signs and waited so long to take him in :(
Those dog owners should have taken the dog to the vets much earlier, and it should be common sense that a long haired dog like that needs proper grooming and the hairs plucked / trimmed inside its ears.
My mum always says sense is not common and they proved it. All this is basic stuff that comes up when you search 'taking care of a dog' but obviously they didn't see the need to
Hendrix’s owners seem caring and thankfully they recognized he had something not normal going on. But they also seem like repeat offenders that I’m sure will be back- not totally them since doodles or any dog with floppy down turned ears are more susceptible to ear probs.

I was devastated when I was told of her passing, it was a tough week that week for me emotionally as she died on t Sunday and on t Friday before t following weekend my baby brother was born. He has t same hair colour/skin colour and habits like her. I miss my friend so so much
What the heck ... 1month... they waited 1 month to bring him in...my dog had a small issue, we went to all night vet that cost several hundred instead of waiting nx day. Well at least pup is ok.
I really enjoy this show, but i find myself getting incredibly emotional every time an animal stops breathing. Our puppy stopped breathing while recovering from an emergency surgery a month ago, and never came back 💔
I once applied to intern at s vet ( didn't get it due to covid most places aren't accepting anymore) and most of the assistants/techs were allergic to cats. I personally am allergic to cats/cattle/horses but am planning to intern once covid is done
The dog at the start had a really bad yeast infection where the ears are full with wax that's been infected. And with this breed, it needs to have ears plucked as well as that's so overgrown and that will help stop it occurring again.
I know this may not matter to most of us but I really loved Kate's beautiful long curly hair. Of course she is still drop dead gorgeous.....and a wonderful vet.

@@prcervi thats what I was thinking, hearing how they thought thats was how the ears were supposed to look like
@@prcervi Well they say the dog always had bad ears. We will never know
Why didn’t they notice the smell of the ears
no kidding good lord!! once a couple years ago my dog ran thru rain puddles and about 4 days later he really started to itch and a bad odor like raw meat and stinky gym socks times 100%... my mom due to working in nursing home care she had a ear looker thing and we saw a tiny twig in his ear... we used tweezers to pull it off, used lots of ear cleaner and antibiodic spray on the ears and 2 days later he was fine... holly shoot does a ear infection reek whooeee!!
They did. They said they noticed the bad smell but the cleaning stuff they used got rid of the smell a bit. They definitely knew but didn't care 🤦♀️
Dr Scott is a great vet, I always enjoy his episodes
If you had a broken arm how long would you wait to get it mended, not long , animals are no different glad the dog got the ears managed awesome
Wait... "He's staying away from the water... For now." But he's drenched in the photo... 🤨
maybe he had a bath.
@@elainelucas8097 they were at the beach
How do you LOVE Bondi Vet!💕💕💕
Oh Edwin❤️ what a handsome boy😻
The dog looked so so much better after he 🤢 vomited. What a great vet + family. ❤
Omg when that lady heard her dog had yeast in his ears she immediately said “vegemite lol”
I like that Bondi Vet is still producing new clips 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗 Thank you 🐶 🐱
poor baby...why did they wait sooo long!! Hope they learn...could you imagine if they left their child like that....
Edwin is a fluffy good boi 🥺
I knew that dog with the itchy ears had a fungal/yeast infection.
I was thinking maybe ear mites, but fungal/yeast makes sense too.
it was going to be that or mites, neither is good
If you watch a dog grooming site they always show having to pull the hair in the ears to keep them from not getting infected.
Could be bacterial as well.
It’s the title of the video, so... duh
Edwin is so beautiful. What a great, responsible owner and great vets!!
That first dogs owners should have taken him in earlier instead of leaving it until he was going mad with it poor thing
Hendrix is staying away from the water as they show him soaking wet in a picture LOL
The shear ignorance of hendrix’s parents makes me mad, they don’t deserve him
Have they ever had him groomed? They have done 0 ear maintenance on this dog
@@MB-nv4to clearly clueless dog owners
@@ebbss4 clearly. They spend more time at the beach than paying attention to their dog.
@@MB-nv4to oh yeah. People think it’s cute and fun to own a dog but people don’t realize the work it takes to own them
It wasn’t until I saw a video in this series that I learnt that dough in a dogs stomach could be fatal and it’s alcohol poisoning that would be the cause. That’s crazy!!
This series is so informative for pet owners and pet owners to be. Well done!!👏🏻👏🏻🥰💗
Love Hendrix. He’s such a good boy. And IMO she shouldn’t have shamed him for his ear smell. 🤣
For goodness sake he's been feeling that for an entire month?! This poor baby
The first owners seem literally abusive lmao. "He's staying away from the water" bruh. it's been a week and theyre already back at the beach and he has CLEARLY just been wet. wtf.
Edwin and his mama are a perfect match. They both have such lovely, mellow personalities. ❤️
Do they not know that because he’s a doodle he needs his ear hair plucked? There’s massive amounts of hair in his ear canals. Have they never plucked it? Jesus Christ..

❤🙏❤ Thank you for saving lives
Imagine having muddy dirty water in your ears, and not being able to clean them out
An asthmatic cat! Wow I learned something new
Anyone else wondering why they left it a month to get him seen??? 👀
Thank you to all of the vets!!!
That poor dogs ears! I don't want to bash the owners but it is really sad that they couldn't recognize the major signs and waited so long to take him in :(
Gotta get that hair plucked out So The air can circulate better in them funky ears.
I had to go back to see what was in the fish tank in Dr. Scott’s office 😂 those are some good looking angelfish!
How the hell is he a veterinarian, but allergic to long haired cats?
Hopefully the vet has educated them on what to keep an eye out for ear wise, I feel like they are first time pet owners.
They didn't realise FOR A MONTH. 😐
They don't show operations, but they show dogs vomiting.
Oh i felt so sorry fot the kitty :(
Edwin acts just like my cat coconut did. She even gave little kisses , I miss her very much 😞
the cat really scared me for I moment I stopped breathing and went cold omg.... I can't imagine what I would do if it happened to my cats, but they are getting old... this cat really got bad luck poor him
edwin is a gorgeous cat. he’s so pretty
Shame on the Owners
waiting so long. Pretty disgusting on their part.
Jennifer whitehouse they treated him themselves with drops given by another vet watching the video all the way is good
That lady w rocket was soo kind and compassionate!
I want a cat just like Edwin. He’s amazing.
My cat likes to lay on my feet at night.
Most pets don't normally smell bad. If they do, there's probably something that needs investigating.
Sweet Edwin my best friend died from an asthma attack at just 19
That’s so sad. I don’t think people know how devastating asthma is. My mom developed COPD after smoking for over 50 years. She could hardly breathe. I had asthma as a child & know how it feels. I really am sorry to hear about your friend.
So so sorry.
I too have asthma as well as other medical issues and physical disabilities. I was 19 too when she died I’d known her from. Playgroup all t way through school we looked similar. I was devastated when I was told of her passing, it was a tough week that week for me emotionally as she died on t Sunday and on t Friday before t following weekend my baby brother was born. He has t same hair colour/skin colour and habits like her. I miss my friend so so much
3:47 do we legit need a dog -owner licence ? Like dafuq did you expect ??
Edwin has beautiful eyes. All the girl cats must faint at his passing.😍
Huge fan of your work ...love the way you handle the pet....u love ur job
Who better to be the owner of a cat with such bad asthma than an ENT....prayers Edwin feels better soon.
I love the follow up pictures!! How nice to see what the results of the visit are!
My dog had a similar ear problem but all he needed was a regular cleaning and some ear cream and he was good
What the heck ... 1month... they waited 1 month to bring him in...my dog had a small issue, we went to all night vet that cost several hundred instead of waiting nx day. Well at least pup is ok.
I really enjoy this show, but i find myself getting incredibly emotional every time an animal stops breathing. Our puppy stopped breathing while recovering from an emergency surgery a month ago, and never came back 💔
So sorry you lost your puppy. I lost mine recently and it’s just so heartbreaking. No words can express the pain.
Thank you for helping the animals. Keep up the good work.
A vet that is allergic to cats... I never thought that would be in the case. But it is.
eh, it's not all that uncommon
meds tend to do the job
I once applied to intern at s vet ( didn't get it due to covid most places aren't accepting anymore) and most of the assistants/techs were allergic to cats.
I personally am allergic to cats/cattle/horses but am planning to intern once covid is done
Great long episode's love the family picture hope he's ears get better soon.scott so nice to see him hi to all vet's bondi vet .
I love how dogs will eat stuffing but wont accept a single pill
Ragdolls…..love them, they are like no other.
I’ve never been so happy to see a dog vomit
Im sure the Bondi vet production team suggested Dr. Kate to not go on scolding mode to this couple.
Trim the ear hair, always dry ear after swimming. I use half distilled water and half apple cider vinegar for ear infection to licking paws.
Yeast infections also comes from kibble.
