An Office-theme episode was extra fun to create, haha! This desk is now another layer of security we never thought we needed, but are so thrilled to have! In our previous build we loved having our laptops charging while driving, and the idea that they can sit nice and safe, with airflow and camouflage, will really take a weight off our shoulders!

🐾 Who are we?
We’re Ladi (from Czechia) & Margaret (from USA) and we love eBikes, campervans, & cats. In 2020 our van life lifestyle flipped upside down, & we needed to stop traveling in our camper to lockdown in eastern Czech Republic due to the pandemic. With no travel plans and some new time on our hands, we decided to sell our old van, start an electric bike business, begin a youtube channel, build our ultimate dream campervan, renovate a junkyard into a tiny house homestead, plan a container & upper workshop space… well, some other smaller projects in-between 😅.
What we thought would only be 6 months of “stillness” has become 2 years of innovation, progress, and so much fun, and most of that is thanks to YOU. Although we’re excited to be back on the road and traveling the world again soon, we’re so thankful to lay a foundation here in Central Europe & bring you with us on this crazy journey. Thank you for supporting us and being part of this incredible community!

Thanks for being so authentic and genuine guys! It’s a vulnerable thing to share when plans or ideas don’t work out and you guys are always willing to share that. The TV mount sounded so ambitious but you made some valid points about it needing a redesign and I know whatever solution you guys come up with will work out even better. ❤

Okay, I spent the entire video stressing about how much heat is going to be transferred from the diesel heater tubes to the computer charging/storage box. I think you are also going to need cooling fans for the charging box, even if you remove the diesel heater issue. You definitely don’t want those laptops to overheat, at any time of year.
OMG!!! I just remembered that you were planning to do a recliner under the window. Ladi's folding desk is the perfect side table there! I think the only time that will ever be folded is when you are driving! Perfect table!!!

On a more serious note, I am concerned about Margret working at a computer desk in the passenger seat while driving on the road. If there is an accident and the airbags go off they would drive that tabletop through your chest and do some really serious damage, if not death. Please be safe on the road, we would hate to lose such a talent..

Maybe you want to put a “hidden” black colored handle on the compartment door. An obvious handle would be a hint, that there’s something underneath.
One upgrade I can see is something, 2 pins maybe, that would be perpendicular to the desk in its stored position. When you go to pull the desk up out of its stored position the pins would lift up on the lap tops and raise them out of the hidden storage. Knowing you though, you probably have something in there like that but missed showing it...lol.
My favorite part of this is the ability to charge the laptops while they are hidden. That’s absolutely ingenious.
For me, because I lean on my desk while I work (I know it’s a bad habit but I have sciatic issues so I often need to lean on my desk to give my back a rest), I really loved Ladi’s old design with the additional leg. I liked that additional support, but maybe leaning on the desk is not a problem for you guys as much as it is for me.

I think having a reinforcement strip on the underside of the table side of the hinge will make it a lot stronger. The lever of the table is peeling away the brass hinge but with a strong strip of steel/aluminium to support it, it might be a lot stronger

My hubby is taking a long lunch today, cause we found our Van!!! Yep. Buying it today. Been, looking for almost 2yrs. Finally found a great deal on our starter, weekend escape, for photo trips and fishing trips Van.
Eventually, we will upgrade. Just need to see if we can actually handle the small space. My hubby is 6'5". Yea, a problem, as you know.

I would add a magnetic lock on the wooden piece to keep the laptop secure and hidden when away from the Van.

Thanks for another awesome video. I may have mentioned that we had a table that functioned much like your hidden table, but it was for dining in one of our old RV’s. It held all kinds of weight and we never had a problem with it drooping. You shouldn’t have an issue with yours even if you are using it for meal prep or eating. The way it rests on the frame of the box will be more than adequate. Can’t wait for your next video! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

well, now i know where the secret laptop door is I will have to book a flight to europe, break onto your property without being seen by the nest cams, get into the garage somehow and find the keyfob for the thunderbolt locks all without getting blasted with a shotgun....seems easy enough idk
I really love your ideas and your style, although I am little concert about the "hideaway" for your laptops, if it´s supposed to be un-recognizable then I am not sure if I would put a handle on the "fake cover" on the top, cause then it becomes very clear it´s possible to open and they will easily find your laptops.

Happy Thanksgiving to you too. I remember when being a kid and playing with boxes with the ultimate thing to do. Funny how as you get older that changes and you have to have more expensive toys. Oh to go back and be young enough to enjoy playing in boxes and having imaginary castles to play in.
Hmm, this van has not many inventions, it is an invention itself. So many brilliant new ideas this must be THE source of new ideas for many, if not all big brand van building companies. I would bet to see a lot of these ideas in some of their new vans, but most likely not before 3 or five years from now and who knows where you are then with your ideas for your next van after this one..... Great work, thank you for sharing (not to talk about the fantastic video production quality to make this comment not tooo long)
I was really looking forward to seeing the sliding monitor but I understand design is a process. Sometimes you gotta pivot. If the van was for one person would you have still considered it?
We love this channel for multiple reasons! 🎉. We do lots of likes on the videos and comments, but haven’t commented ourselves.
But today, use of clips from The Office was distracting from the actual content of the video. Perhaps others enjoyed the clips 🤷♀️.

The laptop storage unit, great. But the lid doesn’t need a handle. That would be encouraging someone to lift it. No handle nothing to lift.

Maybe the real secret is that they will put laptops elsewhere and this is honeypot trap for viewers that want to rob them.
@@infiniteoffset True, but even if viewers would try to rob them, they have installed CCTV cameras around their van, and alarm sounds. So even if they show this or not robbers will still be caught.

Hi guys, we are from Brno and have standard Fiat Ducato Karmann Davis 630 van. We do not travel/work, because of our work desk situation in the van. It is terrible. Could we stop by you and get advice? We will happily pay for the time you spend advising us.

Over used clips from the office
Slightly confused, you spend so much time trying to hide the laptop, when you have a 3d printer, drones ect on full display..... and if they are really advetnrues, if the ruthians descide to break in the back they have two bikes. or they can simply hot wire the van and drive it to some garage and just have the whole lot....
Our laptops are more expensive than a 3D printer & drone combined, plus they have and hold a lot of our personal data. Losing that would be much more detrimental, as we couldn’t do our jobs. We have security in place to make sure no one can just drive away with our van, as well 👍 taking the bikes would realllllllly suck, but luckily we also built those ourselves, so we can make new ones
