Trent & Allie I’m so happy that you’re safe! Eric the Nomadic recently did a security video on a new product he uses for his safety and security while traveling. You may want to check out that video to see if that’s something you would like to get. I really hope that you don’t have to go through something like that again. Btw, I really enjoy your channel! And absolutely love Frank!
hi guys in my experience there is nothing more useful to scare intruders than light and sound, i´ve attached light bars on all four sides, cctv, and have a very loud siren/speaker on top, i have a panic button that sets off all of them and a mic to call for them funkrs off. other than that i have extra measures too. glad to know you´re ok.
Trent and Allie, I appreciate your videos and want to give you some info regarding Surfshark. The current protocol used by servers is iPv6. Surfshark uses iPv4. This is like buying a car that runs on leaded gas vs buying a car that burns unleaded gas. I am not an expert but when I installed Surfshark I was unable to access purchases on Amazon. I consulted with a Surfshark tech who informed me of the iPv4 - iPv6 issue. The solution was to downgrade to iPv4 for Surfshark to work on my Xfinity account. I know you get paid for advertising and support you in that but I can't go with Surfshark and would urge caution in recommendations to your viewers/subscribers. I dig your channel.
Hello From New Zealand, Glad your both ok, A panic alarm of any sort can help, either on your key ring or air horns, making noise can scare off prowlers but also draw attention of others near by. I even used to park outside police stations for safety in city's. Police will often keep a eye on your safety, if they know your living in the the van. and we all get stopped by the police for looking suspicious in our vans so just ask them where they recommend you park up. Stay safe, and take care of yourself.
At a small remote campground next to a lake in U.P. Michigan, I woke to my camper rocking and had that adrenalin rush thinking it was either a bear or a human. I had tied a clothesline from my camper to a small tree in the evening. Investigating the cause of my rocking camper, heart pounding, I discovered that a beaver had cut the small tree and was trying to drag the tree into the lake! He must have been throwing all his weight into his efforts to move that ridiculously stubborn little tree. I'm glad your encounter ended safely. Safe travels.
Having been a truck driver in the US for about 25 years, I’ve gotten very used to two things, getting pulled over by police and people trying to get into my truck while I sleep. Neither are intimidating to me anymore. Do you have a panic button on your key? You won’t even need to get out of bed. Set off the alarm, which also flashes all the lights, and listen to the footfalls running away. Turn the alarm off and go back to sleep. Or if you don’t have an alarm, get a horn-in-a-can. Turn the lights on, crack open the window, and let her rip. Same effect.
You should consider getting a remote start key, so if someone is fiddling with your locks, you can remote start the car and they will most likely run away, you can also use the car alarm to scare them off. Another idea is to also to get a couple of security cameras around your vehicle. That would also deter people from trying to open your door.
You can buy solar operated motion sensitive security lights pretty inexpensively, maybe something like that? Some beware of dog signs aren't a bad idea, either. Anything to make you a poor target. Surveillance signs can help, as well.
Pressing the panic on the alarm works too, a gun helps and some exterior lights controlled from inside too, there are also cctv systems made for vehicles
This is why being able to get into the driver seat without leaving the camper is important. Despite all the people saying that a passthrough isn't needed any more.
Me And mine would love to hear about that if it’s for real! We are big believers in our electric bear fence when backpacking in wilderness areas, more restful sleep for us 👍🏻
@Brian Roberts yes, not many have the nuts these days to protect their stuff like this. It works like a charm. I did similar at my getaway cabin some years ago. Had plenty of no trespassing signs/private property around so there was no "ignorance" that could be claimed as well as several of the motion detection critter cams that were new tech at the time. Had a small 5' block wall around the house and a locked metal gate with stay out sign. I used basically the same method your dad did. Ran 2 bare copper wires with plops of silicone on the top of the wall cap @ each side bc Id found footprints, on the wall and trash on deck by the door and table. I made sure to tell my neighbors about all this in case it was them. They were all for it bc they had some problems too. Next trip i found evidence of someone getting bit bc they had apparently been jolted off the wall and hurt themselves enough that the cops could get a dried blood sample. I like that about rural county cops... they're all for 'self protection.'
Please please please buy a remote controlled starter. My husband put one on my car so I could start it after class from my classroom and the heat would have already warmed up my car. Be safe guys...we enjoy living vicariously through you.
Great story, very well told. I have a friend who mounted an air splitting air horn on the roof of his van. He has it set up so he can blast it from inside the van without opening a door or window. Twice he has had attempted break ins while he was sleeping inside. He said, like you have, that driving away is the best solution, but he blasts the air horn and both times two things have happened: The would be thieves bolt instantly, and as important, he says blasting the noise makes him feel like he’s back in control. I do believe that trying to “arm” oneself with a knife or gun, etc., is just foolish. Those weapons can be turned against you so easily, and few of us are ready to live with the legal and emotional outcome of actually killing someone. Avoiding contact at all is a better option. Good on ya, Trent.
@Damian There will be anecdotal instances of ordinary citizens being true heroes like this amazing guy. And there will be thousands and thousands of other tragedies of reactive or drunk or violent types or raging morons killing people that in retrospect they will wish they hadn't. The average person simply doesn't need to be walking around with a tool that will take another person's life. Most think simply brandishing a gun will deter people; they never think through that if you unholster a weapon you have to be willing to take a LIFE. It's a ridiculous law and we'll live to regret it. We're the only country in the world that has so corrupted the second ammendment, which was designed for muskets, for chrissakes.
@Damian Good point! I'm a big proponent for and exercise my right to carry both, along with a taser, the latter being, frankly, a last resort as they're already way too close.
This is so helpful!! Break-ins are one of Abbey's top fears, but your tip to prepare for the situation beforehand is so helpful. Thanks for being so real!
WOW!!! Sooooooo glad you're ok and had a protocol in place!!! Knowing that you could get to the driver's seat without having to go outside is such a great feature for those considering the nomadic lifestyle. Have a safe journey the rest of the way:)
Wow you handled that quite well. I knew a really huge black guy with really dark skin a long time ago whose home was getting broken into in the middle of the night. He ALWAYS wore this deep dark purple hooded robe after he got a shower in the evening until he went to bed. Well, these two young men decided to try to break into this man's home but it was pretty obvious that they had no clue who owned it. My friend's name was Bolo. He was from some place in deep south Africa (can't remember where exactly) and most black people who live there have really really dark skin. Anyways...he quietly rushes to the door and just as they get it picked open he jumps into the doorway scaring the crap out of these two young guys and he shouts "BE GONE WITH YOU I SAY!!!" as he throws his hands up in the air like some sort of wizard! He and his wife told me that they have never seen two men run so fast in all of their lives!!! He said they were so scared that they couldn't get the car doors open, that their fingers kept sliding off of the door handles and they looked like a comedy team stumbling around trying to get the heck out of there in a hurry!!! I thought I was gonna burst a kidney from laughing so hard! Bolo was over 7 feet tall and had really big hands so I can only imagine what those guys saw when he leaped into the doorway at them!! LOL Too funny. He told me that he never got anything on his property stolen or broken into after that so he must've put the fear of God into those boys!!! :)
I've travelled for 16 yes, I travel in a prairie waggon pulled by a bull, I've only ever been woken at night once, and that was hunters pulling into their usual parking spot (we ended up having a small party), I have dogs, I sleep clothed, I also have a couple of big sticks to hand at various spots. Sorry this happened to you, but be aware and be safe!
I've been at home twice when someone has broken in / tried to break in: The first time, they were inside - I was about 8 or 9 (living in America), home alone sick on a school day; I crawled under our entrance hall desk, grabbed my dad's tommy stick (he was on the police force!), and called the dispatch. They caught the guy, following his footsteps in the snow - he wasn't the brightest bulb in the pack. The second time, I was in my 20s at my shared flat in Paisley, Scotland: We had a few useless, broken locks on our door, and one that actually worked. I heard the would-be thief wasting his time on the broken locks. I got down low, then started growling and barking like a mad dog ('learned that trick from my grandpa) - it shocked him so much, he tripped running down the hall stairs. I know what an adrenaline rush you must have had, so it's great that you could stay calm and assess the situation and take appropriate action!
I have had my house broken into and it is a horrible experience. It totally destroys your sense of safety and leaves you feeling violated. I am glad that nothing major happened and you are all safe.
put an alarm in your van. eventually, they will get in, probably when you're not there. at least an alarm may scare them away, and if you are in the van you can activate it to scare them away.
Don't downplay the risk. In Mexico, for instance, people have been jailed despite NO crime. The police are corrupt and hold you for money. There's no constitution & justice system similar to in the US to back you up while abroad. If Trent and Allie are fine, good. But that, *statistically, proves NOTHING.*
wow newstome well I’m from Mexico and guess what? I’ve never been robbed... I’ve solo traveled all over Latin America and nothing happened to me. So take your American thinking elsewhere, stay in your small town and don’t leave because you might get robbed.
@@leesaw6 Never robbed? My friend visited Mexico and was jailed for NO crime. The police simply wanted to extort money from him. We both have anecdotal evidence which can't prove anything regarding the big picture or statistics.
You're in Argentina! I lived 9 years there, and loved it. (I'm American, from the farm in Illinois. Three of my sons were born while we lived there, and they've got dual citizenship.) It's a beautiful country! I especially like las Cataratas de Iguazú, (they make Niagara Falls look like a leaky faucet if you get there in the rainy season)!
That’s why some of us go to RV parks that are gated with security. Where I am is 450. A month or $15.00 a night. 4 seasons RV Resort Brownsville Texas 😊
@Jerome Diana I don't think anybody would call me a hummingbird but I've got a right-hook that has felled a 260lb muscular man when he burst a balloon behind me!! And the pickpocket I encountered last year was not too happy with me either lol.
Jerome Diana yeah or even more just sat there mostly naked roll of gaffs tape in one hand jar of lube in the other he’d be off down that street quick as. 😂
Get front, back, left and right side security cams with infrared. You won’t have to get out of bed to see what’s happening outside. A panic button on your key fob that sounds the horn and flashes the lights will send them running.
Be careful, block those windows with thick gauge steel and get ventilation from the roof not the side where you are vulnerable. And set up motion sensors on the sides of the van.
The first thing you have to do when somebody is trying to break in, and I say it for my own experience is yelling. I mean a real strong, crazy arrogant, scary yelling. That real helps.
Ifedayo Oke That was the line that made me LOL, as well! Reminded me when my mother in law almost killed a guy who was washing the outside windows in her house... she was coming out of the bathroom wearing a green mud mask and the guy cleaning the window saw her and fell back from the ladder to the garden grass ! 🤣
I think the kid had never seen anyone so WHITE and thought you might be a ghost. LOL I am so happy you are both safe. Love to watch you guys. Sending love
I have one that says, "Warning, we don't call 911" written in circular form around a picture of a gun. Very effective, so much so that I also have on the front and back door of my house.
You need some recordings of some very loud, scary guard dogs and then set it off when you hear someone tamper with your door. Also some guard dog stickers on you van might make someone think twice. Stay safe
I installed a simple 12V switch at the bed for a mini piezo siren just behind the rear bumper. It's just a scare device. The whole thing was like $20. I also have motion lights all 4 sides and an alarm system with motion and sensors on the exterior compartments. It is what it is. Like you incident, it's mostly kids out to get what they can.
The first thing that came into my mind is the loud alarm that can be triggered with your van keys. It would have awaken everybody in the area and thus made the thief runs as fast as the wind. In addition, how about getting a dog which apart from guarding you can also shower you with love and affection: the best medicine after such negative experiences. 👍🙏👏😇
We fully sympathize with you! We parked in a yard, and in the night I caught a burglars breaking into the houses opposite! I rang the police and they caught them! But took me ages to sleep well after that 🙏
Glad y'all are okay! This just happened to us in New Orleans last week, but unfortunately the guy slashed our back two tires while we waited, scared to death, for 20 minutes for the police to show up. We had no idea if he was going to start breaking windows, if he had any other weapons, or if he had accomplices. It definitely shakes you, and the sense of safety is never the same, but this lifestyle offers too many positives and opportunities to let these jerks get the best of us! Stay safe and have fun!
Have you ever considered getting a security system? Or maybe motion sensor/darkness lights? I've seen people have SimpliSafe security system in their van.
Thanks for being real because all these Van Lifer's never reveal the bad things but hey nowhere is safe not even when your in a home . You two take care and be safe
I know it’s lockdown here in wales but I had to get out in the van so I headed to midd wales (a desolate part of the country full of hills and forests ) I saw no one on the roads I traveled for approximately 4 hours all the usual camp spots where closed due to lockdown measures , so I found an old wood felling road in the middle of nowhere , the nearest house was around 4 miles away , any way after food I decided to get to bed around 10pm , I woke up at 2am to some random person trying to break in to the van ! He bolted out of there as soon as I shouted , i didn’t get back to sleep after that as it spooked me so much , I have no idea why someone would be out there at 2am the road didn’t lead to anywhere it was just a loop one way in one way out !
The fact that it was in the middle of lockdown, and you were a long way from anything or anyone, makes this even scarier. I wonder what he was doing there at that time in the morning.
Glad you both are safe. Someone needs to do a video on different ways people living in van can protect themselves on the road.i always wonder what precautions people take on the road when they camp in isolated area
I’ve been watching you two for a few years and it has been really fun to be invited into your journeys! I remember when this came out and I cannot believe that was only seven months ago. So very many changes!
I'm glad you guys talked about this because it makes me a little less on edge because this sort of thing happened at my current apartment, and how it is basically reliving the moment when you hear a noise really hit home
@@lisaanndavis3289 Just imagine, you're casing a vehicle. Looks abandoned. You start working the door, but it's the most stubborn door you've ever seen, and your light just can't seem to penetrate the window. You keep making your way around the car and suddenly, sitting in the driver's seat, you see a naked, ghastly-pale man, staring straight at you. You didn't hear anything. You know that seat was empty. He was just not there one moment, and there the next.
I can't believe Frank hasn't been micro chipped all this time when you've been traveling. Please make sure you file your contact info, and someone's back home, with the micro chip company. You said that Frank is a valuable breed to some people. The chip may be the only way to prove he's yours if someone snatches him. Stay safe.
@@Inkdraft Oh please, when have you ever heard of that happening? It's the size of a grain of rice. Do you know how hard it would be to find it and cut it out? It would hurt the value of the dog doing that kind of damage, and probably wouldn't work anyways. Besides which the person stealing the dog isn't keeping the dog if they are selling it. What do they care if someone eventually finds out it has a microchip? Plus, the dog is more likely to get lost than stolen anyways, and how can their dog find it's way home if they live in a van traveling across 14 countries? They seem especially concerned with their own safety, so why not put at least as much thought into their pet's safety?! The dog can't tell the pound that he lives with that hippie vanlife couple from youtube, lol. But an $80 microchip would do that for him. It's a no brainer. I was as shocked as he was that they hadn't already taken that precaution.
Inkdraft the chip is micrometers across and requires a scanner to program it. They aren’t removing anything, and should they try the perfect breed dog they stole will now have a giant scar where the thief tried to dig out the chip.
When I used to drive a truck we couldn't cary firearms so I had the bright idea to get a flar gun I used it once the same thing happened with y'all I got in my driver seat and let him open the door and yes I shot him in the flar gun I don't think he will ever break into anything else
shooting a flare gun inside of a van is risky....if you miss the perp you could burn the whole thing down.....but, it beats a prayer if you've got nothing else.....
Lol having you seen the amount of paper work to bring a dog across borders, try bringing a weapon? Lol Plus this is south America, this a kids with no weapons. You kill a kid and most likely you are going to jail, in a Latin country jail lol. Also..... What the heck is the dog doing??? Can it bark or something??? Next time don't jump out of bed but throw the dog at the front. Put it to work .. one of their traditional job is security for pits sake. Lol 🤔
I’m so sorry that happened to you both. I saw a woman that’s building her van install locks on her van for extra security. She got some from “Expedition Uplifter.” They seemed to work pretty nicely.
So glad you guys are safe. Please be prepared for anything. Have a bullhorn, pepper spray, hair spray, flashing lights on the sides as well as alarms. Please stay safe. Wishibg you happiness!!!
A great investment is a super bright flashlight and a can of pepper spray, pepper spray is a great non lethal option that will stop most people. Travel safe ✌️
Pepper spray is not legal in all countries. Lemon juice or pepper water mix for cooking is something you can throw away at the boarders. Then remake it.
Your experience that nigh reminded me of something that I lived approximately 40 years ago when I was about your age. I had a camping bus, that’s what we called them then, it was a Mercedes 406D transport vehicle that I converted into a living space, I kept that van for 30 years, and made about as many trips from the north to the south of Europe and sometimes to the Canary Islands. I was sleeping soundly alone in it in a parking lot in south Stockholm when I was woken up by the motion of the hole vehicle rocking sideways like a baby carriage. I got up and went to the front of the vehicle to find a long haired young man staring at the door handle and shaking it so hard it made the entire 406D shake, he was looking down straight at the handle all I could see of him was his long curly dirty blond head and he couldn’t see me. I sat right besides him and nocked with my knuckles on the window, he froze paralyzed for a few seconds and then slowly lifted his head to see me, he was so scared his eyes almost popped out and then he started to run. I went back to sleep.
that's a reality of Van life and even your home. its really distressing to face the break in. even if you are not around. and later on find out that your sanctuary has been raided. but worse case is when you are there when you witness the break in stay safe
I don’t know about Frank, but my dog barks at everything unless he’s in his crate, which he sleeps in at night. While inside the crate he barks at nothing. He may sigh or moan, but that’s all. Nobody taught him to do that. It’s just how he is.
Key fob alarm, air siren, security lights at the flip of a switch, cameras, etc., etc. You NEED more than what you have. Come on guys... don't be naive.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks they're naive I mean they're down in South America and they think they can leave their doors open and nothing's going to happen cuz they feel so safe yet they're sleeping on edge I mean that's a contradiction in itself I'm sorry but I think that they're crazy
FINALLY!! Allie in the driver seat!! And you survived Trent! ;) Glad you were prepared, and i think that dude will be more careful about closing in on vans! :) That incident could happen anywhere, that is important to remember. Even in camping spots. Its not only in this part of the world. Looking forward to you reaching the tip of the south America, safe travels! You guys rock!
If he had a screw driver in hand....that sounds like this was no "I was just passing by" person. You are lucky he ran. Hope you have a defense plan. Bad things do happen to good people!
Sounds to me the results prove you did the exact right thing. I agree with some comments about any loud noise you can make that might have the same effect but allow you to stay in bed.
I'm not surprised by the break-in. We have had a Chilean ring of break-ins in Ontario Canada. They have look outs watching homes and when the owners are gone to work, the Chileans break in and steal all kinds of valuables. Women were involved in this too! So be careful the rest of your trip!
@Madison Daily actually they fly here and say they are tourists. It was on the news a couple of weeks ago. They were caught and arrested. But some of the people that were robbed didn't get their possessions back. Very sad!
My house got broken into twice when I was a child, I have been paranoid ever since. It’s easier to get into my house when I am not there than when I am there. Locked down and secured I make it. Hope all goes well for you.
I thought the same thing...my dog would have tried to go through the window to eat this guy up! My dog is a pet but also security...she is not socialized with strangers...Stay safe!
A GERMAN SHEPARD! HAV ALL MY LIFE! IM 62! NO WILL F W/ U ! I KNW! BIN THRU STUFF! BUT DID NOT HAV TO WORRY 125 LBS. FEMALE "SHEBA" GREAT BEAUTIFUL DOG! BLACK AN D TAN! AND LOYAL! SO EASY TO TRAIN!
Next time hit your alarm on your van key. I once hit my alarm key to scare off a bear trying to break-in while camping in the mountains. Btw, Frank's absolutely adorable❤
Great video, and a good reminder for people to try to be safe, as real safety is an illusion, whether at home or on the road. Always have a game plan to protect yourself.
Had that happen 20 years ago outside a bar in medium size city in Canada. Passed out in the back of my van I woke up to a guy hot wiring my van. Still foggy I finally figured out what was going on and on first words out of my mouth the bad guy was gone. Freaky but if you have protocols in place that are practiced once and awhile you should be good. Oh yeah parking in the darkest corner of the lot doesn’t really help except to keep evil in the shadows.
Get some experience of you do. Cause that stuff can and will splash. Which you might catch a piece of. Also have a plan B to fall back on. Cause some people can tank that stuff. In that case all you'll do is piss them off.
Problem is, you have to roll down the window first or you're in a very, very bad place very quickly (and so are your pets and/or anybody else in your van.)
Yes, that's called car shopping. Happens everywhere, even in your hometown, bored local kids out at night, short on allowance. Usually a locked car door is enough, they'll try another. Also, keep your car absolutely clean, nothing whatsoever in sight that someone might walk away with.
What about using an alarm with a perimeter alert? Wouldn't that both alert you, (and maybe you could sleep better knowing the alarm will alert you?) as well as scare off the intruder? You told the story so well!
@@josephlambe2796 I had the impression they were in a remote area? At a minimum it would be good to have 360 cameras and lighting. Hear something fishy, catch it on camera, and flip a switch to light up like the sun just rose on them! LOL or even have the lights on a motion sensor when out in the sticks.
Where was Frank during all this excitement? My chihuahuas would be barking! They are trained not to bark at every noise but if I felt threatened they would go into protective mode for sure!
@@TrentandAllie I know a girl who's home was broken into, during the day...while everyone (including the dog) was home. Weekend afternoon; 2:00 PM. Dad was taking a nap on the couch, in living room. Girl & dog, are in upstairs bedroom. Mom was out grocery shopping. People break in, relatively quietly, at back door, kitchen door. Dad doesn't wake up. Daughter upstairs hears a bang; just thinks it's Mom coming home, DROPPING SOME GROCERY CANS, in the kitchen!! Dog doesn't bark. I think the thieves got in and out super-quick. It was decades ago, so I can't remember IF or WHAT they got. Anyway, no one was hurt. My sister's home was broken into, during the day. No one was home...but their dog was in downstairs basement, barking. Security Alarm is sounding, but the female burgler still got away with a HUGE piggy-bank of coins (for my toddler nephew), and a compact stereo ("Boom Box"). Some Neighbors saw her walking out with the stuff. Said she looked like a heroin addict. As she's walking out, neighbors say, "Hey, What are you doing?!?". She yells back, "I work for these people". They call the Police...who don't show up, for a long time. My Aunt had some guy open her unlocked car door (in the back seat), while she was at a STOP Sign. He got his foot/leg into the car....but then she sped off!!! Somebody stole my brother's Classic Mustang car......then burnt it down to the frame. Anyway, I'm SO glad the "theif" YOU encountered was scared of you, enough to say, "Peace", before you drove off. That made me laugh! 😄 BUT!! This is NO JOKE. Some people are not garden-variety theives. I realize you are fully aware of that, and you are vigilant. I'm glad you've been unharmed, during each of your close-encounters. I would DEFINITELY suggest you buy a LOUD AIR-HORN, for the future. And maybe make some of your own NATURAL "Pepper Spray" or even "Lemon Spray". There are quite a few Natural compounds that really sting the eyes & wind-pipe. I'm also glad you have an Axe! And I'm SOOO glad you have Frank!!! Sweet boy. Take care. Anyway, sorry for my long-winded reply (if you've even read it!!😃).

Hello From New Zealand,
Glad your both ok, A panic alarm of any sort can help, either on your key ring or air horns, making noise can scare off prowlers but also draw attention of others near by.
I even used to park outside police stations for safety in city's.
Police will often keep a eye on your safety, if they know your living in the the van. and we all get stopped by the police for looking suspicious in our vans so just ask them where they recommend you park up.

At a small remote campground next to a lake in U.P. Michigan, I woke to my camper rocking and had that adrenalin rush thinking it was either a bear or a human. I had tied a clothesline from my camper to a small tree in the evening. He must have been throwing all his weight into his efforts to move that ridiculously stubborn little tree. I'm glad your encounter ended safely. Safe travels.

through the door...
God damn tenuous
Great suggest. I heard about this years ago but totally forgot about it. Thanks for the reminder.
Same effect.
lol or wuwuzela hahaha
I have the air horn right inside my front door for situations like this. So far, knock on wood i haven't had to use it.
💖🐾💖
Horn in a can! Lol 👍
Can you keep the air horn in your car during the Texas Hot summers?
Liking this. Add a bunch of simple layers of security puts you on the offense not defense.
Guys, you had a video saying Allie's engagement ring is in the van. Plse be careful what you tell on your videos!
That's why I own a gun.
Pressing the panic on the alarm works too, a gun helps and some exterior lights controlled from inside too, there are also cctv systems made for vehicles
Buy a gun.
I just hop out naked and screaming. Works every time.
This is why being able to get into the driver seat without leaving the camper is important. Despite all the people saying that a passthrough isn't needed any more.

How would u do this?
I like that about rural county cops... they're all for 'self protection.'
funny but needed.

this really really emphasizes the importance of not building a closed bulkhead in your van. Always have access to the front of your van buildout.
Thanks Tracy 😊
An airhorn or loud alarm also calls attention to the situation, possibly bringing others to your aid.
Portable alarms on amazon. They are very loud
PTSD - affects for a long time- grateful you two weren't hurt. Again, this experience can repeat at home (land-fixed)-
This is so helpful!! Break-ins are one of Abbey's top fears, but your tip to prepare for the situation beforehand is so helpful. Thanks for being so real!
That kid is going to tell the story about the naked guy at every party.
Wild story. You guys need an alarm that goes nuts when someone touches your van. Keep safe

And a crazy mask!
Get front, back, left and right side security cams with infrared. You won’t have to get out of bed to see what’s happening outside. A panic button on your key fob that sounds the horn and flashes the lights will send them running.
Mr. Dee!
Nice to see you here
Electrifying the exposed metal surfaces sounds cool.
A really loud air-horn's pretty useful too.
Horrifying experience, but the "I'm a very pale white man" line killed me!!🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ifedayo Oke That was the line that made me LOL, as well!

I thought the same thing. I was for sure Trent was going to say the guy screamed when he saw him.😂
He probably thought he was the second person at the party to rip off the van
The first thing that came into my mind is the loud alarm that can be triggered with your van keys. It would have awaken everybody in the area and thus made the thief runs as fast as the wind. In addition, how about getting a dog which apart from guarding you can also shower you with love and affection: the best medicine after such negative experiences. 👍🙏👏😇
Ummm…did you watch the whole video? They did have a dog at that time but he was useless af
Wow that’s crazy!! I can’t believe they slashed your tires
Have you ever considered getting a security system? Or maybe motion sensor/darkness lights?
I've seen people have SimpliSafe security system in their van.
Get an Alarm for the van👍 and you can sleep in peace. The alarm would scare the thiefs away and it will alert you of what is going on🤗

Apparently, there are crazies everywhere.
The fact that it was in the middle of lockdown, and you were a long way from anything or anyone, makes this even scarier. I wonder what he was doing there at that time in the morning.

You said that Frank is a valuable breed to some people. The chip may be the only way to prove he's yours if someone snatches him. Stay safe.
@Rrowdy Rogers. All true but at the same time a thief would just cut the chip out.

Pepper spray is not legal in all countries. Lemon juice or pepper water mix for cooking is something you can throw away at the boarders. Then remake it.

@@drmachinewerke1 homemade spray is good. use lavender or rosemary or lemon to keep the water fresh. as you say, easy to remake.

My cooking will do the trick too
@@lillyanneserrelio2187 in my mind I just blasted out a laugh!
Thank you for the thought!!!
Should put a train horn for your alert/ alarm , that would scare the crap out of them , especially if they aren’t expecting it
You and your family are awesome! Your Dad really loves you.
With a proximity alarm it will drive you and your neighbours mad as will will go off when someone or an animal walks by….
He was in a deep sleep
@@TrentandAllie omg! Thats hilarious! Chewy goes ape shit if a leaf blows
My dog Jedi will also go berserk at the slightest noise out of place except if he’s in his crate. Then he’ll just sigh.

I know a girl who's home was broken into, during the day...while everyone (including the dog) was home.
Weekend afternoon;
2:00 PM.
I think the thieves
got in and out super-quick.
It was decades ago, so
I can't remember IF or WHAT they got.
Anyway, no one was hurt.
My sister's home was broken into, during the day.
No one was home...but their dog was in downstairs basement, barking. Security Alarm
is sounding, but the female burgler still got away with a HUGE piggy-bank of coins
(for my toddler nephew), and a compact stereo
("Boom Box"). Some Neighbors saw her walking out with the stuff. Said she looked like a heroin addict. As she's walking out, neighbors say,
"Hey, What are you doing?!?". She yells back,
"I work for these people".
They call the Police...who don't show up, for a long time.
My Aunt had some guy open her unlocked car door
(in the back seat), while she was at a STOP Sign. He got his foot/leg into the car....but then she sped off!!!
Somebody stole my brother's Classic Mustang
car......then burnt it down
to the frame.
Anyway, I'm SO glad the "theif" YOU encountered was scared of you, enough to say, "Peace", before you drove off. That made me laugh! 😄 BUT!!
This is NO JOKE.
Some people are
not garden-variety theives.
I realize you are
fully aware of that, and you are vigilant.
I'm glad you've been unharmed, during each of your close-encounters.
I would DEFINITELY suggest you buy a
LOUD AIR-HORN,
for the future.
And maybe make some of
your own NATURAL "Pepper Spray" or even
"Lemon Spray". There are quite a few Natural compounds that really sting the eyes & wind-pipe.
I'm also glad you have an Axe!
And I'm SOOO glad you have Frank!!! Sweet boy.
Take care.
Anyway, sorry for my long-winded reply
(if you've even read it!!😃).
Sometimes peace of mind is just knowing WHAT to do when/IF the SHTF... Good for you guys! And thanks for sharing.
