I have done a bunch of em. Tell me what you all think in the comment section. Remember to LIKE - COMMENT - SUB - SHARE

You can also test your existing latch with an ohm meter. When they go bad, you’ll get intermittent circuit when you wiggle it.
Had my 17 original latch replaced under warranty.
This is on my list of stuff to check... my work truck has been doing this & waking everyone up for a few days now...
Confirmed... the switch measures 4.7 ohms made at the connector... it is a really crap quality switch!
AaRon nice. fast and easy work. and nice as always to see do work on Super Duty Trucks
He doesn't miss! Thanks for always keeping us up to date!
Have a good holiday my friend
Never thought that part would cause the alarm to go off very nice fix ARod sir. Thanks
Funny you mentioned the fly flying around inside the cab , that was my problem . It took a bit for me to figure that one out 😆😆
Very interesting cause for the alarm Arod. Always appreciate the tutorial repairs 👍🏼👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Such funny timing... both the wife's F150 and my F250 started doing it this month. Dealer changed her hood latch, a little annoyed its not covered under warranty for a 2019. Mine has only done it once this week, kind of waiting it out...
Thanks for the awsome videos !!!
this happens to me a lot on my '17 6.2. when im plowing sometimes the hood ajar warning will come on. good to know theres a fix and im not crazy
Thank you so much for this video! I have this problem and the alarm did wake me up in the middle of the night while camping! it was during a rain storm and the people next to me said they didn’t hear it but anyway my temporary fix was to unplug the horn, and it’s still unplugged and today i got ‘hood ajar’ messages and haven’t opened the hood in weeks. Guess i know what it needs now.
Boooom Aron fixes everything
Let me tell you, it's happening on my 2018F150 as well.. Thanks for the info
Great Info👍...why? Does it seems to be the small & obscure things that will drive you crazy🤔🤔🤯
I knowww
I’ve had mine wake me up several times the past little bit. Thanks for the info! I found the fix until it goes to the dealer is leave it unlocked haha
Lololol
Have this issue on my '16 F150. I've had times driving when I would get a Hood Ajar Msg on my dash and alarm going off at 3am. Looked at the mechanism and its unusually rusty. Unsure why that would be as the vehicle has lived in Texas all is life. Great video, this confirms my suspicions.
Bypass the sensor. One and done.
I like when after we’re done working on allumidutys and the hood says hood open even though it didn’t have any issues when the customer brought it in. We were replacing those 5-6 times a week a couple of months ago.
Siiiiii
Yea, my alarm goes off randomly. The other day I was driving down the road and the hood ajar light came on my dash. Stopped and opened and shut the hood and it would not go off. I continued to drive home and the light went off by itself. Is this under warranty at 77,000 miles? 2019 6.7. Nice video. Thanks
Excellent. My 2019 has gone off 4 times in two nights. It gets lonely at 9:00p and starts wailing. As punishment I disconnected her battery so we can all get a little rest around here.
What did u figure out
@@Patriot-pq1kuReplaced the hood latch.
Does the 11-16’s have this switch or just on the alumiduty’s?
My 2012 alarm randomly goes off when locked.
My 2018 F150’s alarm kept sounding so I turned off the interior sensors and it seems to have 86’d it. I have a new hood latch on the way to solve the Hood Ajar message. All easy fixes. Otherwise, this truck gives me NO trouble at all.
What else could it be flashers going off step stops working?
👍
Sucks this is not covered under warranty, going to have to order one of them up.
Good catch on your part! Does ford warranty this janky part? Thxs.
Si
I have a 2020 f350... I’m trying to figure out if I can disable honking horn if happen to hit lock button on keyfob?
Yes. You will need to look up forscan DOT org & get some computer things. We offer remote programming but you will need to email us. Links are in description & about tab on channel
Interesting I’ll ask my dealer is there a released TSB yet?
If there was one...i would have told you all silly
Mine was having this issue but the fleet service didn’t want to get it fixed. I disconnected the harness and saw that it defaulted to an open alarm. I cut the wires from the latch, soldered them together and reconnected the connectors. Seems to do the trick
Is that still working for you? I don't see the need for a hood latch alarm and i was going to do that to my 2015 F350.Could you give a little more detail on how you did it? I do not want to buy a latch.
@@doug3805 very much so. Have not had the alarm go off randomly since.
@@doug3805 if you want to do it, just open your hood and look for the connector going to your hood latch, mine was just left of the latch itself. Cut the wires that go from the connector to your latch. You could just use a wire nut to connect them together. Then tape over the nut and use a zip tie to hold it out of the way. Definitely fixed my issue
I checked mine yesterday and it doesn’t even have a hood latch alarm, replaced the key fob battery and it seems to be okay now. Thanks for replying.
@@christophersherwood57 thanks
Very common and a dab of dielectric grease on the micro switch plunger helps stave off any dirt and moisture ingress.
Another solid vid ARod!
Have a 2019 alumiduty f350 6.7 and there is a high pitch alarm whistle coming from around the dash as some kind of warning or something. It goes off after a couple mins of driving or so. Not sure what it would be
Whaaaaaa
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod yeah super annoying
Is this the same latch part number on a 2014?
No...
Is this a similar issue on a 2012 F250? I haven't gotten a hood ajar warning but my alarm has been going off like crazy all throughout the day and night
Cld be
What did u figure out
Can’t you just adjust the latch assembly a little higher to get better engagement with switch?
No sir. The switch is the problem........
Mine would go off so randomly until I found the dial under the dash to turn down the sensitivity. Once I turned that sucker down to half way haven’t had an issue since. But man I could fart next to it and set it off. A gust of wind would set it off. A fly landing on it would set it off. It was nuts. At camp sites with our trailer I would rush out there thinking someone was in it or messing with it. It was on the max setting before I turned that sucker down.
Hi, can you tell me where the dial is exactly? My alarm keeps going off. If you could describe what it looks like it would appreciate man! Thank you.
Huh
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod Not sure what that means but do you know what dial they are talking about?
That dial isnt oem....
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod Thanks... Wasnt born with that information......
Ok, I did all that, new latch assembly, and it still failing with Hood Ajar alarms when parked after short drive, and in the sun, ambient temperatures must be above 80 too. Doesn't fail in winter, took 3 summers to confirm its a heat related issue...
Hmmmm
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod if you really want to know.........
Beginning in 2019 the Alarm system has sensing alarm events that have followed a similar pattern.
Due to these false alarms and other issues, I found finding the cause/ causes of the alarm events required a OBDII Reader. Acquiring an USB to OBDII cable and FORSCAN software I used my Laptop to find I had a reoccurring error from the “Hood Ajar” sensor.
The Alarm Events have these same common factors leading up to these False Alarm Event.
As it has happened 30+ times, so far, over the last three years is this;
1. Travel in truck at least 15 minutes.
2. Day must be warm, over 80. (Two summers of trouble and winters of no events to confirm this)
3. Park in sun, (not shade)
4. Lock, by button on door or remote, does not matter.
5. Wait 10 to 20 minutes and Alarm will sound. Reset Alarm with remote and if left in sun it will alarm again in 10 to 20 minutes.
When reading the Last 4 available Events in the log, I find “Hood Ajar” for all events.
2020, Purchased the Hood Latch assemble from Ford online. Part came from Alhambra Ford. Installed it right away and thought the issue was gone. (As it was not summer anymore, the problem when away).
Summer 2021 comes around and the problem is back. I jump out the connector to the Hood Switch on the input side of the connector to eliminate any connection issue. I verify in FORSCAN that hood switch is closed. Problem persists with jumper and then goes away with the hot weather.
March 2022, a heat wave. Again, Hood Ajar events happen. On a visit to Harbor Freight, 15 minutes from home. I park, go in store, and 10 minutes later, the alarm sounds. Resetting the alarm with the remote from inside the store and relocking, 10 later, again, Alarm sounds. Plug in OBDII and see the same Hood Ajar. Restored connection to Hood Sensor to normal operation.
April 2022 Event logs read prior to visiting Dealership showed 2 events of Hood Ajar. Dealership finds no issues but adjusts the hood stops down to the point the hood visually rattles when driving. Adjusting the stops down, as the Dealership did, has no affect on the switch what so ever, but shows lack of knowledge as switch is completely isolated from the Hood’s height. Service Advisor also said the Alarm went off while he was standing next to the truck, but said that wasn’t an issue.?.
May 2022, Visit Yosemite, 82 degrees. Park, lock, walk a couple of 100 yards away and Alarm goes off. Reset with remote, and lock, 10 minutes later alarm sounds again. This happens again at the next view spot too. When home, OBDII shows last 4 alarm events as Hood Ajar.
I have a similar problem my alarm is malfunctioning and turning on the lights on the inside and outside and does this periodically until I turn on the truck. I do have a door ajar message that does not seem to go away even when the door is closed correctly. What should I do at this point?
Bring it thru

Si, everyone does
Couldn’t it be the FOB battery or a bad FOB (washed it)?
No
Why is my horn stuck on a 2020 f350? I pulled the fuse and it still one.
Time for a battery junction box. Watch our video
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod sorry, I pulled the fuse and put a new one and it was still on. It turns off when I pull the fuse.
