- Here's a little clip with my take on what is important to make music on the guitar. A little noodling in the key of B also. Thanks!

Man, that is the most amazing playing I've ever witnessed. Incomprehensible to me and I have been playing 40 years
Thanks guys! More to come soon. Guitar tone slightly darker than I wanted here. Amp was facing away from the iPhone I guess a little. All good! GT
Although I wouldn't use it in a mix with keyboards or certain vocalists, I liked the darker tone for just the guitar.
It sounded round, in a good way. And a little natural room reverb snuck in. It was great. Sounded real, un processed. Many of us appreciate that. Hell Guthrie, you could be recording on crackly AM waves and those of us that appreciate the lesson, would still watch over and over again. Nevermind the negative comments. No one EVER built a statue for a critic, and your lessons are absolute gold.
sounds killer to me
what is you talking about, homie? sounds beautiful.
I agree with everyone else; The Tone Is Beeyouteefull!!! As a matter of curiosity, what amp are you using? Any pedals?? Thanks as usual for the honest vibe and inspiration
I get the feeling that somehow, for whatever reason, you actually care about my musical journey. Thanks, bro!
Just seems like a good ol country guy..
You hit the nail on the head with that comment. I couldn't figure what seemed different about his lessons and this is it!. Great teacher
I love the fact that you're aware of our love of your 'noodling' as you put it. Tons of inspiration there. Thanks for that.
That beginning song was BEAUTIFUL Guthrie!
'..the notes that change in the chords are the notes that we have to outline with our single-note lead playing', and that's it, there you have it!
Personally, this phrase takes the pressure off me getting caught up feeling i have to know which notes are in which key before i even play a lick. I have learned so much from you in the last 18 months. You are a gold mine, thank you G-man!
That bit around 8 min with too major / too minor ending on the other third was absolute gold! That's the best explanation of mixing major and minor I've ever heard, for sure.
Thanks! Appreciate how you teach from your heart. Not trying to impress anyone, just teaching what's working for you.
I don't get the chills very often but your intro was freaking amazing!!!
Love your playing man. Thanks for these!
luke56 everything Guthrie does is Amazing!
Thanks Guthrie!
Im a mature aged student and some folks like yourself have a very clear way of teaching. Your videos compliment everything Im learning Thank you and Greetings from Oz DownUnder
Thanks again Guthrie
Great video Guthrie. Folks you need to watch the videos multiple times. They may be comparatively short but there is a lot of important fundamental stuff in them and to catch it all and make it sink in you need to watch them several times. Good stuff GT !
Ears!!! Thank you man...a subject not spoken of enough! Played with so many who were brilliant music theorists but couldn't play worth a damn. If it doesn't sound sweet to you, it's not going to sound sweet to your listeners. Great video, thanks Guthrie!
How can someone be this good at guitar? Truly amazing guitarist and a great human being who likes to share his amazing musical knowledge....thank you Guthrie so much
So genuine and generous...many thanks
Guthrie is an incredible player, great teacher and a real cool guy. Highly recommend taking his lessons - he’s got a great teaching method.
Guthrie...So nice! I always learn something and get inspired by watching you....
Heres the thing for me, with GT and Tom B you get music, really tasteful playing, lovely note choice and emotion. 2 guys who know the score. I'd be happy to be able to play a small fraction of it...…...but its definitely given me the motivation and inspiration to try and look at playing differently and not keep getting bogged down with info overload. Thanks Guthrie...…..that noodling at the start though...….. terrific.
Hi, can you help me out with the full name of Tom B, please? I'm trying to work out who Guthrie is talking about but drawing a blank and I'd like to check out his stuff too. Thank you!
@@TheHeggahegga Hi, its Tom Bukovac, his channel is 501chorusecho. He is well worth checking out.
@@2421ei thank you! Really appreciate the response.
Thanks Guthry! Super 👍. Very, very good 👍👍👍
Guthrie Trapp speaks a music language that I can understand! His teachings are practical and immediately useful!
You're the best Guthrie. My fave teacher.
Nicely done Guthrie-I only WISH there were resources such as these you present when I was in my teens and twenties. Kudos to you.
Thanks again. Many of my other musician friends have actually thrived during the Covid streaming chapter. Del Castillio, Sarah Sharp (with Mitch Watkins), Monk's Jazz Club, etc. Adapting and prevailing has been its own life lesson. I almost died of Covid and was in the hospital for a month in November 2021. Music has been my way back.
Mate ! I LOVE your work !!
Thanks for all you do, GT. Much appreciated. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
Beautiful
Awesome as usual,, the more content from GT,, the better ! Best down to earth explanations hands down !
Thank you. This helped me a lot. Your explanation was right up my alley.
Great lesson! Loved that intro. Really beautiful!!
Thanks for all you share with us you’re the bomb man awesome!
Always great to see one of your videos pop up Guthrie, glad to see you're staying safe and healthy, any advise or ideas you put out there are much appreciated thank you.
Great stuff! Thanks very much!
Hey brother you know what youre talking about in all you lessons!! I totally enjoy your lessons! And thanks for doing them
I love playing with "feel" and that's what I always get from your playing. Pure feel, pure talent. Extremely tasteful noodling sir.
Hey GT, The way you explain what you do and the melodic playing is fantastic and any guitar player, beginner to pro,can get something out of what you do. Guitar is a life long journey, thank you and keep em coming.
Those chords sound glorious
Just want to say thanks for the free content you do put out!
Great lesson Guthrie! 👍
Great video! Learning so much from you!
Just took first Skype lesson from Guth. So worth it!! Got lots to work on. Thanks!
Very nice playing Guthrie. Your advanced technique is always subservient to the musicality.. why I always return to your lessons!
Guthrie T don't listen to the negative!! Me and so many others are learning a lot and enjoy your stuff. Once I get through May financially would love to do an online lesson with you on what you just touched on in this video.
Many thanks Guthrie! Love your educational style, thanks Bret Papa as well! You guys are great!
Always enjoy educational content as well as the joy of listening to you play guitar. Thanks Guthrie
Your humility and generosity are always inspiring. I recently sent a friend to your ArtistWorks class, & know he signed up and is really pleased with the referral. I've been thru B Sutton's course and one day I'll do a stint with you. I am working on the CAGED system on my own now and want to get it solid in my head before that. You are a great teacher in any case.
Your lessons are exactly what i need Guthrie! Thanks!!
Thank you for these videos. I watch everything you put out and gain insight every time. You do a great service to the guitar community.
Guthrie, that had to be the absolute most beautiful guitar playing i have ever ever heard. I am following you on you tube and you have made me a better player already, I can relate to your approach and philosophy. Keep up the great work I cannot thank you enough.
That $200 tele sounds great to my ear but you probably can make music outta a nail and some wire. Thanks so much for helping us Guthrie!!
Great work as always! Can’t wait to come to NT once the dust settles
Thanks Guthrie :)
Love this, love you Guthrie, I understand what you said about the sound, but on its own it was beautiful with the darker warmer fat round sound you play so well, lol I can not understand any dislikes or negativity, I been playing near 40 years and always find fresh ideas and truly useful knowledge in your free videos!!!! Truly a gold mine of good stuff, thanks so much!
Great stuff GT - thank you!
Nice to hear you play
Great lesson mind expanding🎸
Thanks Guthrie, it's a journey for me understanding the colours of the notes, scales, chord tones etc. On another note, if you have 1100 likes and only 9 dislikes, you really don't need to address those 9 dislikes, you're knocking it out the park!
Great video! Just want to let you know how great of a job you did on the AW lessons. The deeper I get into them the more I’m blown away by the content. I’ve learned more guitar in the last month than in my previous 45 years of playing. Thanks so much for what you do.
Great lesson as always!!!
Guthrie made everything make sense - the way he broke it down I immediately understood stuff that was for years a mystery. He does what all good teachers do: he simplifies information and shows you how it applies. And, ironically, even though he doesn't teach by the book with a direct theoretical approach, you still end up learning theory, and more importantly how to play musically.
GT!!! Sounding and looking great! Looks like you're in great shape!
You and "little Tommy B" are my guitar gurus! Jah Bless!
Thank you for the wonderful reflection and lesson, Guthrie!
Wow! Thanks so much Guthrie. You have just summed up in this video what I have been trying to get clear in my head as to what exactly it is that I want to learn and how. I’m going to send my teacher a link to this video so we will have a clear path to follow when we can restart my lessons. Keep up the good work and stay safe.
Always a pleasure bro. Welcome back! 🤘🏼
Great lesson, it was a big jump for me to start thinking about how to use both major and minor flavors in the same context.
My favorite guitarist on RUclips..Awesome player!
Hes better than a lot of famous players that plays stadiums trust me. John P might be good for what he does with dream T but this guy can do anything. Hes so much better than John P as a natural guitar play not even close.
Hey Guthrie, more great content mate! Just wanted to say thanks. After watching a rig rundown of yours a few months ago I have taken stock. Moved on a couple of guitars, an amp and some pedals. Back to basics, concentrate on playing the damn thing instead of trawling the internet for the next best bit of gear. Couple of decent guitars, an amp and some pedals for colour and I’m set. Keep it up chief and stay safe. Cheers
mind=blown. GT is the MAN!
Good stuff, GT
Huge fan Guthrie. Love what you do, Your knowledge is worth a bag of gold. You have most certainly help step up my game a notch, I still suck lol. But I have noticed improvement, and it just makes it more fun to play every time I can notice another jump up. Any way Take good care of your self brother, We'll all get through to the other side of this shit clean. And hopefully with minimal losses. Enough good people have been taken from us already. Love all the way from Chilliwack B.C.
Guthrie Trapp, EVERY TIME I watch one of your videos I'm literally like "damn that sounded sweet" or "wow what did he just do there?" And it makes all the stuff I know how to do sound like a penny in the piggy bank 😒🤣 seriously though thanks for all the FREE knowledge and your time it takes to share it. You rock bruh! 🤘🎸😎🤙
Just sat and watched...wonderful.....
Man that tone, beautiful.
Thanks Guthrie. Love your lessons and how in depth you tend to explain things. Keep being you. ^-^
Guthrie Thanks. Your ability to make music theory accessible and inspiring is truly a gift. It would be really cool to see you and Tom Bukovac do a instruction video while mixing in some stories of sessions work. I have a topic for you Hendrix style Rhythm applied to country music. Cheers .
Really Nice Intro i have just listened it 3 Times In a row ! It sounds better every time ! It deserves to be on your new LP ! Inspirational anyway 👍🎸
Another great lesson, cheers Guthrie
Many thanks Guthrie, as ever great playing & guidance, your approach is the only way to go on guitar. Thanks again mojoken ( ArtistWorks)
thank's Guthrie it's always a pleasure .
Good to hear from you, stay safe.
Love what you're doing Guthrie. Taking your course on Artistworks and it's brilliant, you'll be seeing my mug in the video exchanges soon. Cheers buddy.
Good to see you back buddy, keep on the up and be well, sweet intro piece
Very soulful-and the tone is just fine with me.
Always great content, thanks so much for sharing!
Beautiful opening Jam with some great musicality. It's mirroring a lot of what I am seeing on Buk's channel. I am really trying to only pick up the fiddle when I am going to make music, not just run through my same old habits. It's difficult for me. I need to call my Guthrie shrink so we can talk about it. Get a lesson with this guy!
Your awesome Guthrie keep it up. Gotta get some lessons w u
Absolutely awesome playing. Legendary
Man, really appreciate the content. This is right where I'm at with my playing and trying to make that jump. Super helpful brother, thanks!
This is GREAT brother!!
The way you teach really makes the most sense to my brain of all the teachers I find on the youtube. I try to see the chords and arpeggios while roaming around the general pentatonic shapes across the fretboard, but at some point if I'm in a groove my subconscious takes over and my fingers go where ever the ear tells them. Consciously I'm completely lost. I have no idea what the heck I'm doing but somehow the ear is leading me. It's a bit unnerving because I'd like to actually be in control. So I'm wondering if this happens to you. Is it sloppy playing or should I go with it. ha!
Excellent nuggets. Thank you.
Hey, Brother. This is one of your best. Lightbulbs are going on. I just shared it with some buddies, who agree music "doesn't attract a lot of assholes". Superbly said. -G
Thanks Guthrie, appreciate it!
Your phrasing is beautiful, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. Hope corona tragedy goes off soon enough for musicians be able to play live.
Man that was great. I loved that dark tone.
Digging your videos. laid back and full of knowledge coming from an experienced player.
Great guitarist love what you are doing GT.
Absolutely awesome! Thanks for sharing!!
Loved the video 🙌🏻 edgeofbreakup sent me here 🙌🏻🙌🏻😁very informative
