I always call you Young Tom. Because you’re at least ten years younger than me and there was a pedo in my town that presented himself as uncle Larry. I just can’t do UL.
Wonderful voice leading lesson. First impression or experienced player. This content is education and reinforcing. I love your channel and your insights. Merry Christmas Guthrie.
Love the interaction between you and Young Tom. Reminds me of my teaching days at the old guitar shop in Wayne, Pa and Valley Forge. This stuff is so valuable at whatever level you are at .There is something in GT's lessons for everyone.
I had the pleasure of meeting young Tom at the Underdog and he was super cool and showed me the sound board set up on a tablet and how he makes changes and let me take pics of GT's set up. Nice to see him on the channel. Good Luck with everything Tom, and you get to hang with my favorite teacher so I am super jealous.
Yes, mics on drums in smallish rooms rarely works. There are many "sound men" that can't mix a milkshake. 1 mic in the right place and a little kick is all that's needed. (If needed) Love your stuff GT. Nice to meet little Tom.
When I was young I had the noise issues were everyone turned up and up and up like a contest drove me mad that's why I like dynamics like you play Guthrie Howie here thanks for your great teaching god bless have a great Christmas and have a happy New year peace and love to real musicians songwriters and joy of great energy gods living energy
Nice to meet you, Young Tom! By the zoo, huh? Windshield wipers in summer. Good luck to you in Nashville. GT, having you both there made the lesson more clear. This one's a keeper for sure.
@@monfronoriginal Dude! You're playing is very tasteful. You are a very smart man running with that Nashville crowd! It's evidently rubbing off!! 🤩I'd be lying if I told you I wasn't a little envious my good man.
The guy is good especially factoring in he's playing with Guthrie on film... he's playing well, for sure. In the world outside of guitar geeks he's super!
Man, this was so much fun guys - felt like we were just hanging out with you! Tom was playing nice and tasty too... backing off nicely when playing rhythm and playing nice lead too. Guthre, when you mentioned both of you playing through the same amp, I had to laugh. I was at a show here in Hungary a few years backand one of the amps on stage died. Instead of just plugging in to the other input of one of the other amps, they had a guitar player take turns sitting out and waiting until another amp was provided (3-4 songs later). I was kind of mumbling to myself out in the audience, like what the hell is wrong with this picture? Don't they know they can just plug into the other input?
Hendrix got in a guitar battle when he was fresh out of the army and playing with Billy Cox in Nashville. I can’t remember the name of the guy he battled with but his name might have been Johnny Jenkins. The story goes that Hendrix showed up with a tiny little amp and got embarrassed by this guy. That was the last time Hendrix showed up with a little amp:
Agreed Tom! There must be a FOH academy for small clubs that teaches sound guys the the kick drum and bass are the most important. Then followed by the two guitars and then the vocals. It’s ridiculous.
Guthrie I love you man. You are incredible. But... Hey watch this simple triad thing, now if you play lead insert face melt not simple at all, did you see that guys? It is so easy to visualize. Nope. Great players aren't always greatest teachers. Not saying you aren't sir. Some people will watch this and really get it. But those people are a few levels above understanding how it all fits together. For me, I got confused way early. The example played assumes you have a knowledge level I don't. I understand these aren't beginner lessons, this is you sharing your awesomeness for free. I get that and appreciate it a lot. Happy Holidays to you Guthrie! Love the In Stereo LP and listen to it all the time.
Bitter end show was a great lesson in live performance dynamics. An example caught by the freidman files would be “the window” right before larry takes flight. What a platform for a soloist to launch from. Perfection i.m.o. At 3:00 ruclips.net/video/KrO8P1HvrFU/видео.htmlsi=ez1bXDWX4AlrpgK4
I had my first visit to Nashville this past year. My wife and I could did not stop and listen at one single spot on Broadway…because of what you two are talking about. The drummers in one stop competing with the drummer in the next building…and everything WAY TOO LOUD!!!!!
GT, do you always (90%+ of the time) use the rounded edge of the pick to make contact with strings? Also, a while back you mentioned adding to your ArtistWorks course. Is that still in the works? Thanks!
I'm was trying to learn the lesson but this damn Katana practice amp is about to get thrown out the window. One minute it sounds fine, and the next time I turn it on it sounds like a darn organ at a funeral.
I HATE the kick drum guys! Massive time wasters! Note to sound men: kick drum is one piece of one instrument. If you spend 90 percent of a sound check on that you just crapped on every other instrument and showed your own incompetence.
Holy shittt….young Tom???!!!!
Cousin Larry 😅
There are thousands of people named Tom, but there is only one Uncle Larry.
I always call you Young Tom. Because you’re at least ten years younger than me and there was a pedo in my town that presented himself as uncle Larry. I just can’t do UL.
Dad, that you?
@501chorusecho:
Sorry Tom, diff'rent Tom. 😮
🤪
Love it they come out. So good

Thanks for introducing Young Tom and the guitar work! Appreciate it!
Our pleasure!
what an absolutely wonderful song! Also glad you have found your "Tonto", or helper/sidekick. All of us need someone like this in our world.
"Always bring the big amp" is the damn TRUTH!!! 😂😂
Love the interaction between you and Young Tom. Reminds me of my teaching days at the old guitar shop in Wayne, Pa and Valley Forge. This stuff is so valuable at whatever level you are at .There is something in GT's lessons for everyone.
I love the way you play, man. Young Tom ain't no slouch either. Happiest of Holidays to you.
I love this! Young Tom is lucky to have a mentor like you Guthrie 🤩

Very cool!
GREAT LITTLE CLIP GT!!! AND YOUNG TOM WAS A GREAT GUESS ON YOUR CHANNEL THANKS FOR HAVING HIM!!! TRIADS ARE ESSENTIAL FOR THE GUITAR WORLD!!!
What a sweet comment, did you see Jimmy Bruno talk about triads this week I love that dude
Glad you liked it!

Love your stuff GT. Nice to meet little Tom.
Had the pleasure to meet and chat with Young Tom at The Basement shows last month.
I think you've found a great one, and vice versa.
Love Guthries uncontrollable excitement after he plays his first lead line.
Great lesson again, real entertaining! Thanks GT!
Hello Young Tom .. us "unschooled musicians" are a great bunch, aren't we? Loud drummers .. ha-ha .. how true. Triads rule the world!
Looking forward to the Chicago show 🤙
There is a young Tom as well? Thank the Lord our future is saved! All we need now is a young Guthrie...

Young Tom here, thank you man!

I do the same triad patterns every day. Majors are fun.
Smooth.....like sippin' on a tequilas sunrise. Thanks. 🎉
Thanks for listening!

Hell yes!!!
❤ Hi GT, hi young Tom❤
Reminds me of the one thing my son told me I thought him so far in life and 10 yrs old. "Don't do stupid shit"
Number one rule of playing with others! Listening and not stepping on the other players
Wonderful!!
Many thanks!
You're awesome GT!
Ciao YT! Looking good with dat 335, mate!
$100’s in lessons in just this video thank you!

I met Young Tom at the UD…I once was Young Tom myself. About to turn 60 in 2 weeks
I'll be 70 in a month, but I'm young Pete )))
Killer video!!!
Tom was my first Myspace friend
Cool .
Howdy from SF!
Young Tom!!!! Dude I wanted merch at the last bitter end show but you were MIA!! lol. Oh well. NEXT swing through then. Be well fellas.

I’m sorry man! We’ll get ya on the next one!
YT! Nice playing bud
Sponge Bob!! I knew there was something familiar about that tune!!

GT and friend. Thank you 😅
Any time!

Yeah, the volume down there can be a bit much.
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Marty Robbin’s ? Buck Owens and The Buckaroos ?
GT, do you always (90%+ of the time) use the rounded edge of the pick to make contact with strings? Also, a while back you mentioned adding to your ArtistWorks course. Is that still in the works? Thanks!
So simple: if you can’t hear every note of everybody in the room… You’re too loud!
👏🙏
Not just Nashville heavy bass live sound seems universal 😢
Makes me hungry for Mexican food for some reason!
There are tasty licks happening here. Wow!!
GT & YT!!
Tom, scrap the digital and go full analog and you'll get the best sound.
I'm was trying to learn the lesson but this damn Katana practice amp is about to get thrown out the window. One minute it sounds fine, and the next time I turn it on it sounds like a darn organ at a funeral.
Get rid of that thing! Ha
Cousin Larry? 🤘
Cousin Eddie
Is that surfer flavored music? The Sponge Bob?
I hadda laugh,,,Young Tom isn't very good at getting you going on time at the Underdog,,,more giggle,,,see ya soon
Ha! He gets me there on time. The rest is on me.
At 67 years old, I can tell you, Nashville is not the town It was back in my day musically and otherwise. Take me back to those days, please! 😎
