Hello from North Dakota USA, another good video, I'm going to have to try your glue and foil scales on some swimbaits I've watched alot of your videos and you seem to like using the foil... thanks Charley @ K.O.B.B (kranky ole bastard baits)

Hi Charley! Yea I love to used at the end of a paintjob. ( on top of the paint) Because when painting onto the foil the paint somehow brightens up and makes the foil lose a bit of its shinyness if you get what i mean :D so I tried to only use it as a last step or on gillplates , it is worth a little bit of experimentation! Thank you for your comment, much appreciated!

Another good option to create scales is to use 'expanded metal' sheets to wrap across your lure, then airbrush thru from two polar opposite directions with dark and light paint. The expanded metal keeps its shap contoured round the lure and different scale sizes are available. It may be called 'gauze', but it is the stuff you get for bodywork repairs?

That sounds really interesting! I will look into that, thank you so much! 🙏

@@lureblanks you're welcome. The expanded metal is available at different hole sizes so you can select the appropriate scale for the size of your lure blank?

Liking the videos very informational and nice techniques to watch and learn on for someone just getting into it. If you don't mind me asking what's your clear coat process ? Been looking around for information for something on the easier side to use that's not UV resin or a 2 part epoxy that's durable for fairly toothy fish. Thanks for any advice 🙏

Thank you Aaron and glad you liked the video! Unfortunately I also use 2 part epoxy and UV resin for my lures. I have used waterbased polyester based finishes too but they do not hold long with toothy fish, only 2 bites and it is really damaged. I would suggest to bite through and learn to use either 2 part epoxy or uv resin, this is going to make your lures last a long time and once you got the set up correct you never need to change it. Other options would be using 2k automotive clear coats, but these are very toxic and best used with a spare airbrush not used for painting. Or KBS diamond clear from the USA but i am not sure how long that will hold with toothy fish. I started of with 2 part epoxy and not so long ago switched to UV resin, UV resin requires a more specific set up but it is much easier in my opinion. You do not need to heat the room, it cures quickly and you do not need to mix anything or use a new brush everytime
