@ Pistol Pete. That's debatable. In terms of career performance Palmer had 62 PGA tour wins (5th all time behind Sam Snead, Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, and Ben Hogan). He is tied for 7th on the all time list of major championships at 7, behind Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, Walter Hagen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, and Tom Watson. Palmer is certainly in the conversation about the greatest professional golfers of all time.
I attended his funeral in 2016.. it was unbelievable to see how profoundly he touched others around him & in the industry. It was clear that to most he was not just another pro, an associate, a business partner, etc.. but a very genuine friend
OMG, I'm laughing my self off my chair this is so funny. Cut in ball, Jack Nicklaus ball and he's laughing as hard as I am. I loved this guy all my life, and the world is not as good, without him in it.
BurgerWeiner a cut in the ball, sometimes the outer shell of the ball gets sliced or cut from being hit and it will make the ball not fly straight anymore
For those too young to remember, golf balls did not used to be solid. They had a small core in the middle that was either solid or liquid filled, then wound with rubber band like material, and the cover was usually thin and made of balata. If you hit a shot thin you would literally cut the cover open and could see the windings. I started playing in the early 70's when the Titleist Balata was the best ball on the market. pmcdn.priceminister.com/photo/balles-golf-titleist-balata-tour-100-1101974772_L.jpg
Vulgar ignorant people posting comments here. This is one of the all time great golfers showing us a difficult shot. Why are you people displaying such anger? You couldn't carry this man's golf clubs.
machia0705 . . . this is Not a Difficult shot , it's a Fun Shot . . . been around Pro Golf Loong time , Never seen a Pro attempt this shot in a PRO Tournament , that's Not how Pro golf is Played .
I actually snotted myself when he said "That ball had a cut in it" "And a 1 putt for a birdie".... I know a guy who can dunk two balls and still score a birdie
In the Tiger Woods PGA Tour entries of the Late Era (in this case, 'I2 to 'I4), when you're underneath the tree like this, I often find it easier to use your Driver, Hybrid, or Wood with Ultra Low Power (anything between 09 and 020% is ideal) to keep the ball low while still get incredible distance on such a recovery; especially with the 02 Hybrid and 03 Wood, you can really cover a lot of ground with this strat and even avoid having the ball touch the water at any point on the drive, I'm not certain if official games permit this or if anybody has attempted it in such a capacity but this truly can prove essential in a pickle where Irons and Wedges won't deliver the same effect or benefit and it doesn't hurt to get creative if Arbitrary Club Selection can make a difference during Tournament Play. (:
grew up watching golf with my dad, didnt get too into playing but i always loved putting and chipping (a lot of that mindset bled into my pool game) anyone have an idea of the club loft he used? this looks fun to just try..
Love Arnie and his wit, but there is no way you would ever use that shot. If you've got enough room to skip it, you've got enough room to hit a low punch that never touches the water, hits into the bank, and trundles up on to the green.
That was a Jack Nicklaus ball....CLASSIC....
Jason Wayne that was hilarious. Man knew humor.
I thought the same thing
RIP Jack Nicklaus
MacGregor made lousy golf balls.
Watch Vijay put it in the hole on a water shot: ruclips.net/video/RLzX62nXPTo/видео.html
Have to love the guy just for the humour alone "that was a Jack Nicklaus ball" has to be the new classic line
Skip Across The Water:
First and last step: Pray
Pray? ha ha ha ha ha
Exactly.
Players are too serious these days. Love the dry humour.
this is serious truth - all sports... where's the fun anymore? (too much money is my guess...)
You mean wet humor..
“Now we have a perfect ball”
*Hits stroke*
“That didn’t work because it was a Jack Nicklaus ball”
Said with a straight face. The man was a legend.
And after the camera was turned off, he walked right across the pond and made that birdie putt too.
ahahahahaa
No doubt in my mind he made that birdie putt
R.I.P. Arnold, you were one of the greatest golfers of all time.
not one of
Is he the best
dont be silly
He transcended the game of golf
@ Pistol Pete.

Someone get this guy a 1/2 lemonade and 1/2 iced tea drink. Something tells me he'll like it.
RIP to a legend
Tunga you crying dude?
Had to shed a tear for the greatest ever.
Edward Koepke just because you use CAPS doesn't mean you aren't a fucking DOOFUS.

Initialisms are almost always written in all caps. I guess you missed that day in third grade English class.

Denny Law what is cut in ball? Like bad ball from factory? Or ball cut while skipping in the air?
BurgerWeiner a cut in the ball, sometimes the outer shell of the ball gets sliced or cut from being hit and it will make the ball not fly straight anymore
thanks
What about the Jack Nicklaus ball?

Way to go Arnie. Good birdie. And great explanation of a highly practical shot. I'm putting it in play next round out. You truly are the King.

Skywalker Games yeah my ex girl friend thought it was George Bush on the Arnold Palmer can, boy oh boy...
Skywalker Games oh my god

Jordan Kresmer Glad to hear you got rid of her.
Love it. Days when there was humour in pro golf.
People have no sense of humor.
It's mostly millennials, to be sure.
I hate that word "millenials". All 30-20 year old's are not the same so it's pointless to use this kind of fabricated term.
I think people are probably the ONLY animals with a sense of humour.
Pece17
Harden the fuck up.
Typical millennial snowflake.
Oggy Oggy you raised us.
Every time I hit a bad shot I am now always going to use the line “that was a jack nicklaus ball” lmfao what a legend
I was expecting a bunch of expletives and the club to not be far behind the ball, but he remained composed. That's why this guy was on top.
Great guy. Sadly missed. RIP Arnold.
He's at the 12th hole just hit a birdie ..! And he is saying " I'm allright"..! From caddyshack ! RIP
