If I were to guess, the losing themes would only play when you lose to CPUs, from multiplayer through local wireless, or from an online match. It actually kind of surprises me that they haven't done something like this already.

Honestly, the villain characters in Smash should've already had victory themes based on the life lost/game over tunes from their source games, since the hero characters losing means victory for them. 😉

The losing theme for the villains should be the heroes victory theme. Like for bowser losding it should be the level clear theme cuz for them its a loss
