New sub here, I enjoy your informative videos. I have a question or two: do you get paid at all if the load isn't ready when its supposed to be? Secondly, I see many hotshotters using 4wd trucks... is that really necessary? I think the 2wd trucks typically have better fuel economy and heavier tow rating... so I'm curious why you guys choose the 4wd?
Weird question, about your trailers: Do you see any (PJ, or other brands), that come with the ratcheting-type, strap spools installed? (Like the flatbed truck bodies)

New to this so please forgive me... how is it you're able to make weight with with 3500? From what I can find you cant get under 26k with any dually truck
Congrats on the new truck and traile...question you said you bought your trailer in Texas coming back did you have to stop in the scales or did you do all the necessary paperwork in Texas to be legal to travel
Quick question, is the GVWR of the trailer how much the trailer itself and the load can weigh? My truck has a GVWR of 12,250, so to stay under the magic 26,001 limit, I need a trailer derated to around 13,700, which a few manufacturers will do for me. I had originally thought that by doing this, I would be able to haul around 9-10k and still be under 26k, but now I'm seeing that may not be th case. If my trailer curb weight is let's say 7k, and the GVWR is 13,700, then I could technically only load around 6,700 to be legal right? Or am I not understanding this correctly?
Chris Your truck should be GVWR 14000 ibs Your trailer needs to be GVWR 12000 ibs Thats 26000 lbs total. Now Load your truck and make it ready to roll, Full of Fuel and DEF EVERYTHING.. This is your Wet Weight. Weigh the Truck and Trailer with all your gear and you. Now you take 26000 lbs subtract your Wet Weight and thats the amount you can hall on your deck. My Wet Weight is 15380 lbs So 26000 Lbs - 15380 Lbs = 10620 Lbs Max Load on the Deck
@@DD214TRANSPORT Appreciate the feedback! I completely understand what you are saying, but my question is, wouldn't that be overloading the trailers GVWR?

The important part is waight. The max gross would be 26000 pounds. That trailer he was running is probably 14000 lb. You would have to have it on paper reduced to 12000 gross. Then you could haul about 10,000 pound cargo. Take your rig empty to a cat scale so you know exactly how much you can add to it. Then when you're loaded if it's anywhere close to Max, be sure to scale it at a cat scale before you go across any weigh stations.

Is it a 4×4?
Yes
40’ puts you over length. Are you worried about that,or does PJ have an 8’ neck...
Yes
Not sure how this can be a Non CDL set up. Truck GVWR is around 14-16k I believe and trailer is 14k GVWR that’s over 26k right there.
I love the dodge I have a 2020 5500 and u can’t go wrong with them
Truck is 14k , trailer is D rated to 12k
@@DD214TRANSPORT oh ok. If you ever need your cdl now is the time to get them. Starting February 2022 if you was going to get your cdl you will need 40hrs of call room training. I got my cdl permit and went to a 2.5 day class in West Virginia called CDL assist and got my cdl with no restrictions. My truck and trailer gross GVWR is 45400k
What's your load capacity on the trailer? I have the same set up. Paper work says mine is 5k and some change cause its d rated to 12k.
if you wanna do non cdl what kind of setup do you need? can you have a dually and how long does the trailer have to be in order to stay legal?
The important part is waight. The max gross would be 26000 pounds. That trailer he was running is probably 14000 lb. You would have to have it on paper reduced to 12000 gross. Then you could haul about 10,000 pound cargo.
Take your rig empty to a cat scale so you know exactly how much you can add to it. Then when you're loaded if it's anywhere close to Max, be sure to scale it at a cat scale before you go across any weigh stations.
What was the price on the truck
