    I had trouble with that axis too, but if you pull up on the piece of that arm that is touching the rail (ie take the weight off it) it slides super smooth. I pull up on it with my fingers and then I use my palm to push the arm and have no troubles now I do it that way. Not the greatest design but once you get the hang of it, it presents no issues. The same is true for all the arms, makes it really easy to make fine adjustments.

    I wished they would have fixed that vertical adjustment. My gimbal is all scratched up on that part from trying to move it

  • @hopeforthefuturesg
    @hopeforthefuturesg Год назад

    does the inch 1/2 difference from the back of camera apply to the same on the side of the camera to the gimbal? My Nikon Z9 with small rig cage won't even slide on the plate centered on the RS2 because the right side of the cage hits the gimbal arm on the side. Im wondering if there is a little more side space when attached to the base plate. I can get it on the RS2 but its like half off the center of the baseplate when locked down and I feel like its dipping left slightly making my horizontal lines slightly off center

    I run a Nikon Z9 and I have the issue of the focus motor rod not being tall enough to reach and engage with the gear strap on the lens. I’m using the RS2 but have thought about getting the RS3 however I’m curious if this if I’d have the same issue. I was disappointed to see that DJI compatibility site gave all green check marks for the setup I have of Z9, RS2 and 24-70mm f/2.8. Website said fully compatible with focus motor. I feel this is not true unless paired with a 3ᴿᴰ party product such as an adapter so to me the DJI website would be misleading.

    Agree with your point on vertical axis adjustment - it's really hard for me as well.
    Have you been able to connect R5C in the photo mode to RS3, Bryan? One of the usecases for me was to film timelapses, but I can't convince RS3 Pro to trigger a photo on R5C neither via USB nor the Bluetooth...

  • @EmeraldAudiovisual

    The RS2 has 2 different arca swiss plates: 1 that you can mount the focus motor on and one you don't. I do however mount my motors top down instead on the camera cage.

    What a great, practical comparison...best I've seen. RS2 still fits my needs beautifully, but yeah, that extra inch of clearance might have just sold me. Ever tried to fly a Komodo with that massive and choady 28-70 F2 RF attached? it's not easy. lol

    • @DeafDirector
      @DeafDirector  Год назад

      Ha, ha! Getting my Komodo up on there, was what sold me, too. I was really hesitant to get my RS3, but I have been surprised at how much that little extra inch and a half has helped me get my rigs balanced. Thanks for the comment and have a great day!

    If the Bluetooth provided complete control of not just shutter button but also ISO, aperture, and shutter speed adjustment then it would mean something. The extra space in the back can be handy for some, but most people with mirrorless cameras dont need it. The self locking feature is neat, not sure that feature alone is worth the extra $500 between the two probably not.

    Excellent review summary! I agree that the one axis is such a pain to position. I look forward to the day when all axes use the geared dial approach. Or better yet, one day when we can just attach the camera and the gimbal auto adjusts everything on its own!
    Based on this review, I think I'll keep rocking the RS2 for a while since it's working well for me as is.

    • @DeafDirector
      @DeafDirector  Год назад +1

      The RS2 is still awesome, and if you find you don't need that extra bit of space on it for bigger camera or lenses, then I believe it'll serve you well for several more years. Thanks for the comment and have a great day!

      Unfortunately, for some inexplicable reason the R5C requires a $1000 add on to access wireless control. I made a video about this. ruclips.net/video/Hmx1D-nlj8s/видео.html. Thanks for the comment and have a great day!

    One of my disappointments is that the didn’t include the covers for the ports and battery attachments.
    Also the lightness of the sling arm is incredible.

    If you hold the camera weight up with your hand, that axis adjustment is easier. The issue is that the whole camera weight is bending on that lock. Dont push too much though, then you bend it the other way.

    Thank you. I am about to buy a used RS2 which is approximately half price of an RS3 Pro. I'm primarily interested in the 4.5kg capacity as I'm currently maxed out on an RSC (bless its cotton socks!) The extra depth is helpful but presumably I can counterweight too especially if my rig is around 2kg. I mgiht have missed it but did you mention the auto axis locks and rotary adjusters? Great comparison; think I made my mind up

    How is the R5C wireless connectivity on RS3 pro? Thanks.

    • @DeafDirector
      @DeafDirector  Год назад +1

      Unfortunately, as of right now you can only connect in photo mode, because the R5C right now requires a $1k add on for wireless in video mode. This is absolutely crazy to me, so hopefully there will be a firmware update that fixes it. I made a whole video about this here: ruclips.net/video/Hmx1D-nlj8s/видео.html.
