    I'm happy to say I was around in the early FPV days. The equipment has really changed for the better. Everything is so small and light now. Much less inertia on those less than perfect landings.

    I easily placed a pair of reading glasses inside. Just remove the ear pieces and they will fit great if you just flex a slight bow to the glasses to insert. They relax and fit perfectly.

    great, i've seen so many good reviews of the EV800D i just ordered some for my first set. i think i'll try take the battery out and tape it to the back of the head strap, they look front heavy

    I like the bigger opening around the nose for two reasons. As you mention, it allows you to glance down at your radio if needed. Secondly it allows some ventilation to avoid fogging up.

    Love this budget goggle can switch between 16:9 and 4:3!

      Yea, which is also great for DVR playback if you're running a standard 4:3 camera or a Monster in 16:9. Im still surprised you can look at the receivers independently! Thats pretty cool :)

      yea, had mine over a month now and still use them and pass them to people to use when i fly, they've been great. The only thing i noticed is that when it says the Bow its actually not, it runs for way longer, but then i got a very early version so perhaps they've fixed that now, either way i'm sure you'll be happy. Thanks for the comment :)

    FYI, for those using these goggles. I opened mine up and removed the battery. I plugged an extension cable from the internal connector through a small hole I made in the side of the goggle. You could just as easily run the wires through the plug in port for the headphone/video input that's already there if you don't need those features. Suggest you tie a knot in the wires to prevent them from being pulled out thru the hole or broken. Hot glue can help there too. I put a JST connector on the other end of the wires. I put a JST connector on the battery and a patch of matched velcro on both the battery and the top of the goggle. I have a couple other 7.4 volt Furibee bats with balance plugs on them that I can now use too. I had them for my Furibee goggles.This will free you from the inferior interior battery that comes with this goggle and let you place a better battery wherever you like. A velcro patch on the back of the head strap works great with longer wiring and lets the battery weight be located on the back of your head for better balance. I kept it on top of the goggle near the buttons because it really isn't that heavy to me.
    Velcro, zip ties, super glue, duct tape, double sided tape and rubber bands are some of my favorite things! Lol. Hobby on dudes!

      I knew someone would have done something like this!
      I take it simply removing the battery and plugging in the supplied balance plug lead in the standard socket didn’t work?

    Good review! do you think the magnifying lens could be removed? even if it's not meant to be removed, does it look like it could be taken out without damaging the shroud?

    • @NJ-Tech
      @NJ-Tech  7 лет назад +1

      Thanks! Ok so ive just had a closer look and it does not appear to be glued in, and there are four screws to pull the lens housing apart where the lens can just slide up and out by the looks of it. So i think that should be a piece of cake to do :)

  • @CurryKitten
    @CurryKitten 7 лет назад +1

    Interesting that they've put out another pair that you can't focus the lens. A shame really as the overall image quality on these sorts of goggles are really good... if a bit massive to transport around

    • @NJ-Tech
      @NJ-Tech  7 лет назад

      Yea its an odd omission. When i first got them out the box i was puzzling for five minutes looking for the focus adjust thinking it surely must be there. The good thing however is being able to break these down in two halves means its considerably easier to fit in the flight bag than most of this style goggle, so there is that.

    • @MrStevegibb
      @MrStevegibb 7 лет назад

      if they included different thickness spacers to put in between the two sections then that would be a way of sort of adjusting the lens.

  • @Ra-zor
    @Ra-zor 5 лет назад

    That's the only thing that put me off getting a pair, the focal length... Just turned 40 and eyesight starting to change, with no adjustments they kind of make them a no go, had to end up going with the Fxt Vipers in the end which still have no adjustment but allow you to wear glasses.. I bet they lost a lot of sales from not having a freshnel adjustment, could have just put the split between the two halves of the unit closer to the lcd to make room for it. Shame...

  • @finbenton
    @finbenton 7 лет назад +1

    I got the older non-d model, use it to focus my cameras and give it to "passengers" but for me they are really uncomfortable and my eyes cant focus that close to screen.

    • @NJ-Tech
      @NJ-Tech  7 лет назад

      Well its a vast improvement on the comfort side of things with these, but i do agree that the ability to move the lens really would've made a huge difference. I think you could get a small pair of gasses inside these without too much drama but that's a bit of a compromise. a nice swiss army knife to have have the bag along side your main goggles. Il definitely be taking these with me for lens focusing/passengers/watching other pilots etc

  • @Dozerboy84

    Nice review. Have some dominator v2 but want to have raceband. New receiver costs the same like this complete system. Could also use my fatshark when I am flying alone so could have two "half good" goggles. What would you buy? This or raceband rx for fatshark?

    • @NJ-Tech
      @NJ-Tech  7 лет назад

      Its tricky to answer that and really depends on how much you like the form factor of fatsharks. Either way this is a great and handy second set to have which does everything, has great diversity and a battery and DVR built in, plus its usable as a portable screen. It's very compelling!

    • @NJ-Tech
      @NJ-Tech  5 лет назад +1

      tricky because youre talking about two different ends of the scale and two different paths for goggles. People tend to gravitate towards either i single screen big box style goggle or the twin screen smaller, fatshark style. If you're not sure which you like id go with these as a starting point and maybe see if you can try out someone elses fatsharks to see how you like them. Personally, i fly the HD3s by fatshark and love them, i dont feel the need to pay the extra $100 for the HDOs, but they are the best of the best for optics. Just take your time before making the decision because if you pick right, theyll last you years :)

      Jeremy Chotto it's doesn't matter which side you put the antennas just make sure the patch is facing the area you intend to fly. The left and right on the clover leaf antenna is referring to it's polarisation, and right hand polarisation is most common. The upgrade antennas I recommend 're the menace Rc invader patch and the raptor pagoda. Both on the menace RC website.

  • @connorrd6707

    THIS REVIEW IS WAY OFF!
    I ordered these about a week ago and already the goggles are unusable. After receiving and charging up for the first time was immediately met with issues. The first being the charge indicator in the top right. At full charge, the little battery icon is full (3 bars) as is should be, maybe 5 mins after it drops to 2 bars, then about 10 mins after, 1 bar. I'm sure it would last a lot longer than it indicates, but since it doesn't you are left guessing how much charge you have.
    The second big issue is the charging itself. There is a red LED that comes on when the charge is started. After about 10 seconds a green led comes on making a clicking noise and flashing very fast. I believe the green LED should only come on when the lipo Is finished charging, but since it doesn't I am left guessing when the charge is finished. Because of this issue, I under charged the battery. This caused the goggles to lose battery mid flight forcing me to take off the goggles and land LOS. Very scary! Glad I was close enough.
    Those were the big issues… i could go on all day talking about poor Menu design, cheap construction, or weak straps, but you've probably heard that before and to me that's not as important.
    DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THESE! I'd much rather pay another few hundred to get a pair of fatsharks then lose a $500 quad/plane because of cheap hardware.

      Hey connorrd. I'm really sorry to hear about your experience and it definitely sounds like you have a very faulty set for sure. Without a doubt ask for a replacement. However i stand by my reviews and i always aim to be as honest and upfront about my experiences with the stuff im sent to look at. Equally, i've had lots of praise and thanks from many people who are delighted with these goggles for the price, and at the price point, with a properly working set, i think they're not bad. But i must ask, i know you're frustrated, do you really need to capitalise "This review is way off" and totally discredit me because of your bad experience? I think that's a little unfair, i work really hard for next to no reward to help out all who subscribe to me. Im always trying to make sure you guys get the best info before buying. Im sorry if you feel ive let you down. I hope youll at least contact banggood to get a properly functioning set and that by making this right youll at least have the experience the rest of us have been having with them. Cheers, NJ.
