    As someone who has already lost a 5 inch FPV quad to a stupid mistake, I can totally relate to some of the incidents you show in this video.
    How I lost my drone - I was doing some freestyle flying near by home and I went totally crazy, one stunt after another. I didn't realize that I was almost 300 meters away from home then. The adrenalin rush caused my feet to start shaking. I wanted to adjust my seating position and I did so, and in that process, my left index finger accidentally flicked the disarm switch. I could see the quad falling down, but then I lost video too, because I had set "low power disarm" on my vtx settings page. I tried to arm it again but arming angle limit didn't allow me to do that. So the quad fell somewhere in the middle of extremely thick tropical vegetation. I gathered a rough idea about where it fell, from the DVR video footage, and we searched for 6 hours spanning 2 days but we never found it. Cheers form Kerala, India.

    • @Michelsen3K
      @Michelsen3K 23 дня назад +1

      Aw no 😢 similar happened to me. I accidentely pressed the disarm button. My quad fell from the sky (30-40m) and landed on a brand new lipo, which dampened the impact. Lot of damaged parts, torn wires etc. Gps broken, vtx. But it's already back in the air ❤ happy flying!

    Great Lessons for Long Range in this video... I alwaysforget to power up my Vifly self-powered beeper, I wish it had a solder option.

    • @Sonic_Ox
      @Sonic_Ox 5 месяцев назад +3

      I have the ViFly Finder 2. It solders to the FC which charges up it's little 1s. Mine saved my bacon a couple weeks ago when my 7" went down in a huge field about a mile out. I didn't have GPS coordinates saved and my OSD didn't record. About 3 hours of foot searching with two people and a dog produced nothing. I finally found the quad by walking the heading line it was on after dark and seeing the flashing beacon on the Finder 2. I couldn't hear the beeper very well even when I got close but the flasher worked GREAT! All of my builds now contain the ViFly Finder 2. Cheap insurance in my opinion.

      @Michelsen3K 23 дня назад +1

      @@Sonic_Ox i agree the vifly is a must on each quad. I lost one in a cornfield. The buzzer was so crazy loud there's no need for gps (at mid range) while dvr is recording where the quad has landed.

    Nice. I lost my drone 3 times in a scenario with simetrical landscape luckly i found it every time . I have a lua script that saves the last 50 coordonates on the remote and also for the last mile the buzzer its a lifesaver, its a pain in the ass when you plug unplug the battery. The gps coordonates bring you close but simetimes its very hard to spot the drone.

    When you say your max speed is 120kph, is that with Li Ion concidering the rated max current draw?
    Sure you can do 150kph with a lipo

    • @FalconRadFPV
      @FalconRadFPV  6 месяцев назад

      That older quad could do short bursts of 120kph with a li-ion pack. Probably more like 100kph sustained. Not sure if I ever flew that one with a lipo battery.

    I started putting galaxy smart tag on my drones. Weighs next to nothing. Battery lasts a year or more. Can interact with phone up to 150m. Worst case scenario, have to fly a cellphone across area to mark location of drone. Has beeping alarm, quiet though. Haven't needed to use it yet.

      I can do it with my dji 03 VTX so I assume walksnail should have comparable results. A lot of it is about using good antennas. Years ago, I made it 5.5km out using a $25 eachine VTX (and good antennas).
