    Absolutely incredible! I can't believe that someone loved this soundtrack as much as I do to give it such masterful treatment. And all these years later, too. Bravo to orchestra, chorus and maestro!

    No doubt, this is one of the greatest music achievements of the 20th century.
    It will be remembered in ages as one of the most impressive works ever composed for a movie.
    And it stands for itself, like the symphonies of Beethoven or the Christmas Oratory of Bach!
    Thank you Miklos Rosza for writing this epic music.

      took the words out of my mouth. I'm 61 my dad use to play this movie every year at Christmas along with "A Wonderful Life" and I felt safe. Safe with my parents, my church and my community. Their was a morality that had a bit more authenticity compared to today where so many creatives are so gray that it's hard to find the moral center. Back then it was clear, however masked in corruption and greed. I guess the pretension masked my childhood. For me that was good enough, Cause you'll learn as you grow there is a lot of punk rock to question your truths. But in the end it's the safeness of belonging to a home that cares and brings greatness into your life.

    Wonderful performance, and fantastic that this group of musicians is dedicated enough to attempt to bring this score to the public. I have loved Maestro Rozsa's music for over 60 years, and I am awestruck at the quality of this music making. Bravo to you all!

    The theme for Mary, the mother of Jesus, as heard in Pieta, is one of the most soul searchingly beautiful utterances ever composed. God's hand was truly reaching down to Dr. Rozsa when he composed this score, which far transcended the film for which it was written.

    A masterpiece, of how to write music for a film. Miklos Rozsa's films & Classical music is in my opinion second to none.His standard of film & Classical composition, were the same just pure genius. When I play his music my emotions well up with happy tears of joy. May God's Grace and blessings be with you in heaven where Angels sing. 🙏❤️🎶

  • @Prospro8

    Excellent performance all round. Not to be a stickler, but I think the original suite has the track 'Feast of the Passover', not 'The First Passover' which is of course a Moses thing! That piece is based on a mediaeval Spanish 'Hymn to the Dew' Hebrew song.

    Contrast this with the irreverent sounds of worship music in so many charismatic churches. I wish though, they'd included the tomb music in the final segment.

    Overwrought,overblown and bombastic, trivializing Rozsa’s radiant score. The glorious main theme is unforgettable, clearly the best thing about this sadly disappointing film

    • @TheVid54
      @TheVid54 Год назад

      Rethink it Barry. Rozsa's score itself is bombastic, overblown and overwrought and beautifully suited to Nicholas Ray's "I-was-a-teenage-Jesus" treatment of the Christ myth. This was a wonderfully over-produced 70mm roadshow epic and Miklos Rozsa created a genius score that had audiences holy-rolling in the aisles even before the picture proper began. The Miklos Rozsa score for SODOM AND GOMORRAH was far more radiant and melodic than this one for KING OF KINGS.

    • @pp312
      @pp312 9 месяцев назад

      @@TheVid54 Such cynicism, Mr. Vid. The film is no masterpiece but is much loved and has inspired many people over the years. As for the "Christ myth", no myth is involved, as you'd know if you'd done your historical research. Also take another look at the Shroud of Turin. Even the most cynical experts admit that the weight of evidence now falls very heavily on the side of the Shroud being genuine (forget the 1988 carbon dating. It's been totally debunked). As for Sodom and Gomorrah, I'm a great admirer of the score, but it's not better than KoK, simply different, and the film itself is a bit of a bomb. As for you...well, cynicism never got anyone anywhere, and I hope you'll soon see the light, as it were.
