I’m here in 2019...the 20th Anniversary of “Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace.” For those, like myself, who were a part of this...it was a magical time. After the original trilogy I kept watching Star Wars shows like The Ewok Movies, the Droids and Ewok cartoons. I even had figures from those shows. After Star Wars eventually died down, I used to dream of brand new Star Wars character toys in the toy stores. When I stepped into a Toys R Us back in ‘99, it was LITERALLY a dream come true. And I still think the movie is fun. What a great time... 💙

Im currently 21 Ep 1 figures away from a complete collection 20 years later, In 1999 I was 11 and collected all the ones I could convince my parents to buy me. I went through the phase of throwing all my toys out when I was 16, but now Im back into collecting star wars and am excited to rebuy/relive the memories of this era, thank you for sharing this awesome video!

The Hype was real. Dang I wish I had lived near this store. Nothing was like the build up to Episode 1. I was there Gandalf 3000 years ago.

FAO Shwartz San Francisco in 1999 was awesome. Remember all the feels. 12 inch Darth Maul was never seen on the shelves. Had to get a night job at TRU in Newark,Ca . Hooked up with the boys who were stashing them right off the truck

I was at the McLean, VA FAO when this happened. It was a tipping point- the series was on a high note post-RoTJ, and people were insanely hype for Episode 1, not knowing yet it'd be a dip in the series instead of a step up. The Expanded Universe was doing well, Shadows of the Empire had been snapped up a few years ago, and this was only going to get better. In many ways, you're looking at a high-water mark for years to come here.

i remember going to roosevelt field In NY when i was a kid. And there was a Episode 1 Display their also. (Obviously not this one) But it was still cool, They had the tv showing the trailer, And from what i remember everything was so perfectly organized and made you want EVERYTHING there. I did not see the same dedication with Toys R us's (Episode III) display. FAO Schwarz is the best toy store of the 90's (If still around as much as it was, it would be today also) To the 90's and never look foward!
