  • @gowestjeff
    @gowestjeff 8 лет назад +108

    Blocking the overflow outlet did the trick for me, I had tried the paper clip up the piercing nozzle trick with no change in symptoms, but as soon as I followed your colorfully worded steps and blocked the overflow pipe at the top of the water reservoir, she started pushing water through the K cups correctly. A tip of the hat to you sir, for posting this video!

I was about to take this machine out to the garbage can. I kept watching though and when suggested blocking the overflow, I had no faith that this would possibly work. I tried it and still can't believe that this did the trick. Thank you for the tip.

    I tried this and it hadn't worked for me, granted mine wasn't even humming. But I wanted to let others know, I got mine to work by holding it upside down, water drained out from where you put the coffee things, and from the little thing on the side he covered up, but be careful because it was hot. After the water drained, I ran a cup and it actually worked. Thank you for your video! Hope this comment helps somebody.

    Thank you, you just saved my quarantined life! XD For anyone else watching this, I tried just covering the little rubber overflow spout thingy but the second I let go it stopped working. I tried several times, and this was a workaround but not a fix. So I wondered if blowing into the intake was part of the solution. I did it, and yes some water came out of the overflow spout. Afterward I could see that water was sitting in the spout, essentially blocking it the same way that my finger would be. So after that I tried to brew, and it came out fine and normal. So I'm really grateful! Also, to those of you who said you saved them from buying a new machine... Keurigs have a lifetime warranty. You can literally bring it in to any store that sells them and they will give you a new one of comparable model for free. You do not need to register the machine, have a receipt for it, or return it to the same place where it was purchased. My first Keurig was a gift from an ex boyfriend and I didn't have any information on where it was purchased, no less a receipt. Someone told me the same, so I skeptically brought it to a Bed Bath and Beyond, and lo and behold it was true! They simply gave me a new machine, and I even got an upgrade because the comparable model was out of stock. I've had to exchange my Keurig twice so far, and had we not been on lockdown for COVID-19, I would have done it again today! But thank you very much @domjubgwefer for showing me how to get this old machine moving again. :)

    OMG - Thank you! Yours is the video that keeps on giving, it seems! Four years after your posting, I landed on it after googling for "whirring Keurig", and wow(!), your wonderfully technical and entertaining video! That little "thingie" was part of the problem. It helped me brew the cup that 'started' the problem, but I always had to hold the 'thingie'. So....I descaled the machine, letting the vinegar 'sit' overnight. After a cup or two of 'rinsing' runs this morning, it worked without thingie-holding! Yay! Wow - without your video, I'd sure have been out looking for another machine! You're the best! Thank you again!

    Thanks, Dom. I used compressed air and it did the trick. My Keurig works like new again. Just so everyone knows, there are two lines that need to be cleared out. Put the compressed air tube in each "nostril" of the clear plastic overflow fitting and blow until water shoots out at the pod compartment.

With the water tank removed I took a turkey baster bulb and force air down the check valve. A very small chunk of crud came out. The rest of it was forced into the plumbing. The next time it clogs it will likely be the needle jets, but it work for now.

    Hallelujah! I was within minutes of unplugging the unit and throwing it in the recycle bin..
    But thought why not I learn a lot of things on RUclips,
    There must be a simple fix, so this is where I caught your video..
    My Keurig had been unused for a number of years. I re-discovered it in storage and filled it with water and turned it on. It made sounds, but no water flow. I noticed that hot water was being pumped out of that spout on top of the reservoir and flowing into it.. I watched your video. I blocked the spout that flows into the reservoir, pressed one of the brew buttons, and water started filling my cup like it was supposed to. It might be that it needed to be primed..
    thank you so much for your video.

    Okay, so I want to add to this remedy. It didn't really work for me, but with the concept in mind. I tried something that I think did help. See if you can follow me without the aid of a video. When I put the water reservoir in place, I saw a little water bubble up from the bottom. Water still wouldn't flow to the cup. So I kept sort of lifting the reservoir up enough to cause the bubbles again and again. It seemed to loosen something up. Soon the water began to trickle; this is when I employed the remedy suggested in this video. Success!

However, output diminished & coffee is bitter. I did not realize that plastic doo hickey was a vent, thought it held cover. I just did your technique & seems to work, as now much stronger. Will try with coffee pod in AM. I have new Keurig Slim coming, as has no holding tank & I wonder what lives in my interior holding tank?

    My wife wanted to toss her reasonably new Keurig out. It was doing exactly what yours was doing. For whatever reason, after the second attempt, it worked for me this afternoon, even before I watched your video. I suspected that something was gummed up internally. I will try your method tomorrow morning. MANY THANKS for sharing this, its a great troubleshooting video!

    I tried this a couple of times now and it works as long as I have my finger on the overflow, but as soon as I let go it doesn't. I've cycled a full tank of water as well as a full tank of water vinegar mix through and it still is giving me a hard time. Any suggestions?

    This fix didn't work for me. I also tried what I saw on another video, cleaning off the spring at the bottom of the tank. I've tried everything to no avail. I think I may just need to buy another one. I may try the Keurig help line but I am not hopeful that they will be of much assistance.

    What the reason for this? How do you do the repair, does anyone have any idea so you dont have to squeeze things to get it to work

    • @nesco7615
      @nesco7615 4 года назад

      Chris did it work for you? If it didn’t. Go ahead and blow air into the little rubber vent hole. Take off the filter inside the water chamber with the three little screws first. Go ahead and wash it. If you have a compress can of air. Go ahead and use that. If not use a straw to blow through it. I believe there is two holes in the vent go ahead and do both sides make sure you put a cup in the dispenser area. That will help clear out any junk inside.

      oneloveinus YOU, (myfriend) WIN the comment section for this video. I realized my error almost immediately after saying it, but I shot the entire video in a single take, and I figured not many people would "get" the somewhat obscure reference anyway, so I left it in. but.. regardless of the error, I've been waitin' since Christ was a COWBOY for someone to notice the references in this video to my favorite RUclipsr (and personal "shop-hero") AvE!
      AvE (aka ArduinoVersesEvil) is..
      a welder, mechanic, machinist, fabricator, electrician, mathematician, innovator, artist, designer, tester, breaker, thinker, maker, etc etc..
      And besides that, what makes him a good RUclipsr, is he is ALSO a genius, and great teacher, who's funny, entertaining, and exciting to watch/learn from.
      One of my favorite attributes of Ave, by far, is his nutty, yet brilliant sense of humor, and his common-sense approach to every topic he raises in his videos.
      If anyone here likes "shop-talk" about everything from design, engineering & science, to building & fabrication, to tools, computers, or (my favorite), simply just showing people how commonly over-looked items around them, actually "tick" inside, and what makes them "chooch" or if they work REALLY well.. what makes them a "skookum-choocher"!
      Anyway.. thanks for the comment!
      And everyone else, go check out AvE's channel here:

    After trying a bunch of methods this is what worked for me!! In my case, the Keurig wasn’t just brewing less coffee, nothing would come out. The internal water heater reservoir would fill up and I still heard the pump working during the brew cycle but nothing came out. As soon as I plugged that vent, out came hot water with a bunch of coffee grounds. Man thanks again for sharing!
