For 3-5k price range, the focus st is definitely one of best value-for-money cars along with the ep3 civic type r and astra vxr. Price on all seem to be going up.

My son has a Ford st he had three over the years and the smile on his face says it all brilliant cars and we just ordered disc and pads for 180 for all sides the price for part is good and the sound is mental

I bought my MK2 ST for 3.4k and I’ve often thought about how good value for money wise it is, often been on drives with mates and it’s punched well above it’s weight, made 320bhp on the dyno with various mods and a set of BC coilovers and I honestly can’t imagine it being outclassed by an RS, definitely not an extra 20 grand more anyway, it’ll never be as special and I would love the LSD, but for the cost of them, what a mega bit of kit
Can’t beat a focus st. I own a white one like that myself and for the money and the sound I think it’s pretty good. Mine also is in need of some tlc been sat in my garage for the past year but hopefully next April it will be back out again to I can start on mending it. Would be nice to keep it going as long as I can they do sound great and feel fast when the turbo kicks in. But better with a little more punch for sure

Not entirely sure mate, maybe a mixture of fuel, older car, maybe slightly dirty injectors and what not as I know Jay's brother ran this on Asda 95 quite a lot when he drove it around for a year or so! Thanks for watching mate
@@EVILGT honestly its just their remaps from what ive seen over the years on various cars, theyre "safe" as theyre not customized maps as such. It wouldnt surprise me if the RS did something similar on this dyno, i wouldnt go blaming the ST - a forge or turbosmart actuator + 440 or 550cc injectors would give it the push to 320bhp or so but maybe not on this map...might be more content for you? Test the actuator and/or injectors?
Good old RS tax Benj. Had a blue ST many moons ago for a weekend car, couldn't justify the performance for the MPG. It was horrendous. Only good things about it were it looked and sounded nice. Felt very....."lardy?" That's all I can describe it for. If you can get one cheap enough it's an alright car. Great content
Good video and well out out together. The points about the ST and RS do make a lot of sense. Especially if bjying more for the sense of driving and not bothered about the aesthetics
You should try a stage2/3 astral h VXR with a rarb and a Remus exhaust. I have driven the focus ST, RS and the VXR and I preferred the VXR but it's personal choice at the end of the day.
I got an ST 250 at stage 2 running around 296, but the 250 just don’t hold boost or tune Great, but they are absolutely bags of fun tbh, great stuff bud 👍
Would rather buy a astra vxr for the money as they are 240 bhp standard and they are a lot off fun had a cupple now and they are great driving experience
@EVILGT I think you need to get one on the channel they are good fun and the torque steer is just great you need to experience the drive of one I think you would enjoy it if you enjoy the drive of the st bud
3-4k ANY 2.0 TFSI VW Audi group car. Tuneable, somewhat reliable, and relatively quick from factory. Great example a Leon FR. 200BHP stock, highly tuneable and 5 doors!
I paid 5.5 for mine car. I did look at the ST. But I went with the Audi A3. My seats are good, alcantara with leather trim with adjustability to height n back.
After I sold my srt4 , I really wanted something. So I was gonna buy an st , but after reading the nightmare stories about the problems , I looked at the rs. But couldn't justify the price for the car. Ended up with a corvette 😂. I know it's totally different, but it's what it is.
Focus RS tax is crazy prices. Even worse here in Australia as we can’t get nothing here no more from ford there terrible for support they won’t even order things in for you. Have a couple of shops with limited parts. I’m trying to get coolant hoses but with £250 postage alone is just ridiculous. But I’ll have to pay it as there’s none In Australia ,rant over great channel loved the rs build mate
Of all the cars in the world I do love the focus ST they are amazing cars but a lil thirsty and I wouldn't call the upkeep cheap. Apart from that it has to be the Nissan GTR. Great job on this car mate you did an amazing job well done.
My a4 b7 2.0tfsi sline se 220Hp stage 2 at 330😬 with a quattro system comes in less than 4k with mods and it would eat ur st and probably rs , shares the same engine as an s3 basically

Very much making me miss my old orange ST. Sold it a few weeks ago in the hope of buying an RS, though maybe I’m not so sure now! Might buy another ST and use by bigger fund for a V8 something or other
Collins maps usually give 280-295bhp depending on hardware and fuel. The ST is a fantastic car (much more refined than the Astra H VXR) and the everyday driving choice, but the RS is so much more special. You’re right on parts prices, but a decent RS is at least £25k, a decent ST same age more like £10k on a good day. You’ve made a silk purse out of that sows ear which is good to see.
A decent ST isn't anywhere near 10k, literally half that gets you a nicely modified one which will be quicker than an RS. It will never handle as well as an RS or look as good but for the price it's brilliant.
I own a mk2 rs and st. St maxed on stock engine parts 340 my rs with bolts on and a remap is 600hp they drive very similar but it’s the power limits on the st that holds it back. The rs way more fun

I love the focus st. But if it was my mobey, i would get a Volvo s40 or v50 t5 instead. Its the focuses sister car, so its basicaly the exact same, the engine is Even from Volvo. Its Just as unable, Just as fun to drive, and Even more comfy. And whit the Volvo, you can escape the hot boi look, and most importanly, it comes whit AWD. You should defenetly have a look at that 😁
Owned a mk1 rs focus for a couple of years and the 'rs' tax on parts is a pisstake. They are nowt special once you see past the stick on parts and fancy engines. Nice car to drive but not worth the stupid cost of parts

Got the money for an RS but don't have a garage and it will most likely get nicked parked outside. So it's a toss up between a circa 5/6k VXR or ST or fiesta ST. Something I'm not dropping 25k on wondering if it's getting scratched up.

Surely that video was sped up there when it focused on the Speedo, it pulled from 40 to 150mph in about 6 seconds.

At 4k Mazda 3 MPS is a good alternative. Tunable to 400hp for not much money. However that ST looks shit hot ❤
