Just got mine. Super excited to try it out
To save BE Meyers and their vendors, there is NO upgrade service for legacy models. It's an internal component change from what I've been told by them. If you want the new features, you buy a new MAWL.
Well that is disappointing to hear. I didn't even know there was a plan to introduce a revision to the MAWL-C1+ or any other MAWL models. It would have been nice of them to offer an upgrade path for their earlier adopters.
@@linux-usr From what they said, it's not a huge difference in output on the high end. They said it's noticeable, but they wouldn't call it "game changing" but I'll defer to Duffy since he's got actual hands on time.
Neat upgrades! Bummer they can't update legacy units.
The April-July 2021 units you can upgrade. Your 2018 models you cannot.

My Mawl C1+ just arrived this week and it’s the new version. I’m tight on top rail mounting slots (Aero Atlas S hand guard) and wondered is there an end cap I can purchase for my WML to plug directly into the Mawl and run off the Mawl’s A/B buttons?
I currently have a Streamlight ProTac 2 mounted right below the Mawl on an Arisaka mount.
Glad this was helpful. There isn't any switch that does that, to my knowledge.

Depends on what you personally want to do. There is no "better" way, it's preference

Hello. Excellent and informative video as usual. I was just wondering, TVNC and Unity Tactical, have the pressure switch and now the new hot buttons, for the Surefire and Lasers. Because I plan on getting the MAWL C+1 along with my already Surefire light, which tail cap am I needing to use with a hot button?? Thank you and thank you for your timely response
Depends on how you set it up. Unity has hot buttons for both lights and lasers if I'm not mistaken

Thanks for sharing Jon. I wanted to ask you what type of activation switch do you use for your IR/visible light and lasers?
I use the laser bodies usually and for modlite I use the mod button and the hot button, for cloud I use theirs
If you received the MAWL with the additional AA endcap, would you change from the 123 to the AA. If so, which battery would you recommend? And, which 123 do you use or recommend? Thank you for the video.
I like the 123 cap. Just lower profile. I have no use for AA. I use the Panasonic and Energizer
That was a request of the state department overseas. Most civilians don’t really need it. I have a couple laying around. They work the same. AA batteries are cheaper and are everywhere. So if you have a hundred pack then have at it. It’s a little too long for my liking.
Not so much a question about the mail, but why do photonis tubes have the issue mentioned where the alt mode becomes necessary for them?

Hey fellow MAWL owners, I finally got out to the range and zeroed my C1+ and I noticed something really weird. The visible laser (and I'm assuming the IR since slaved), was moving (in relation to the red dot I was using as reference) BEFORE I moved the adjustment knobs a single "click". The elevation knob would move the dot up/down if I applied pressure down on the adjustment area or clockwise/counter-clockwise pressure as well (in the appropriate direction). The same thing happened with the windage knob. I checked the rail everything is mounted on and nothing was loose, and the rail is continuous/monolithic. Anybody else have this issue? Kinda makes me wish the adjustments were capped/recessed.
Sounds like rail flex. Unless the laser is loose

@@KineticConsulting I tightened down the bolts holding the rail, and then slightly repositioned the MAWL so it had more engagement w/ the pic segments (this is on a X95 where the built in flip up front sight removes 1 small part of the pic rail at a particular point front and rear). Tightened down the MAWL as much as I could, which is tighter than before, and now the unwanted shift is basically gone. I still swear I can see it once in a while at further distances (25m) but that may just be my hand shifting the actual POA. I'm very glad this wasn't a weird defect.
If you could get it…would you rather get a used gen 1 MAWL-DA or a brand new C1? Most likely going on a short rail 300 blackout that only will shoot 200 yards and in.
C1 you'll be able to get serviced, that's what I would do

How do you get the E ring/ E clamp, to stay seated? It keeps falling off, on my mawl (I’m a mawl noob).
You may need to contact them. It's shouldn't come off

Oh no 😂 now i gotta check mine if it has the new programming. Since I ordered mine from TNVC back in February and didn’t arrive till May 😅.
Have they fixed the battery drain problem on the new models? Mine eats batteries in “off” mode and doesn’t stay ready

Hey liking your content quick question I wanted a mawl c1 but I was told there unreliable and brake under heavy use and I was told in different places by different ppl and that I should go after a fp peq15 /LA5 is there any truth to this ?
I haven't seen them break under use yet. Only thing I've seen is a lock up from the detent not being lubed.

Is the mawl c+ worth double the price of a perst 3? $2800 seems like a lot of money for a neutered laser.
I started with a perst 4 and moved up in life to the mawl c+. From my experience the upgrade was worth it however i would prefer having the mawl DA(havent found one yet).

I'm looking to get into NV this year. Would you recommend a C1+ as a first/only laser? Or should I try to track down a full power maybe? But then I wouldnt have any sort of warranty if needed
The c1+ is a good 1st/only laser

Great video dude! Does your MAWL burn through batteries if you store it with the battery inside? I went through three batteries in two months. I called BE Meyers and they said to remove the battery when not in use.
Mine don't. Sounds like an issue you should have them fix

@@mikeb4708 I called BEcMeyers again last week and they finally admitted that they did have a few lots that experienced this issue of battery drain. They gave me an RMA # to return my unit for repair. It’s all covered under their warranty. You should give them a call and send your unit in for repair as well.

Older MAWLs have that issue. Newer ones don’t. Both of mine don’t.

How much better is this compared to dbal d2?
The entire system is better. The illuminators look close but because the D2 uses an led and mawl uses a vecel it's a significant difference in signature.
Can you do a video for lefty reloads? I know it's probably a big stretch, but me and 15% of the firearms community would like it 😁

thanks for the 411 on the new MAWL updates. sure is frustrating to find out that they can't or won't flash existing MAWLS to the new programing as that was a big selling point to their military customers. Being able to flash MAWL's for units and op's that required it. just my 2 cent's that it's not worth it for the company to flash existing units for civilian sales. time will tell if contract units in service are given the new features. that's the problem with chasing the bleeding edge, it's always moving & cutting... thanks again for the video & time. To clarify it is not so much a programming change as it is a change to the lensing. Going from 4/16/60 degree settings to 2/10/60 degree settings.

@@tubewombat thanks for the added context. as a recent C1+ buyer it is frustrating to have missed the upgrade buy a month or two but that's the downside to trying to buy once & cry once... timing is everything ain't it?
And it will be upgraded again come November of 2021.

@@KineticConsulting How is that old MAWL C1+ doing? I'm trying to find out what the serviceable lifespan of these modules is. Do you know how long they're meant to last under normal conditions? I just obtained an X1 in excellent condition but it was made in 2018. And I paid a goodly sum for it!!! But nothing I've seen online gives any information about how long they're meant to last.
Can the Mawl really complete with a full power PEQ in most cases?
probably not laser wise but ir illuminator wise yes mawl is probably the best.
@@Ry_Pox more power doesn't always mean more better, the mawl c1+ absolutely fucks, its well refined and offers ideal power, not too much and not too little

Through your NVGs, put it on short range and see what the A button does. If it doesn't have an illuminator, you have a newer version
