- Peter Gabriel - Here Comes The Flood (Live in Athens 1987)
Available Now: mercury-studio...
In October 1987 after many months on the road, it was in the elevated surroundings of the hillside open-air theatre at Lycabettus overlooking Athens, that the "So" tour came to a climactic close. The three nights were filmed in what was the first-ever Peter Gabriel concert to be committed to film. As a concert film, it was brilliantly shot and has now been equally brilliantly remastered, a crystal-clear record of Gabriel and band in their mid-80s pomp. The viewer is placed right in the heart of the action all the way, from the band's synchronised choreography on opening number "This Is The Picture", right through to the skin-pricking closer "Biko". In between, we're lost in music, spellbound by the spectacle, totally absorbed by the imperfection-free tightness of a band that's been on the road for so long.

Surely one of the most under rated songs of all time.
Never underrated, just no.
Ma che cazzo dici
VERY underrated!! Love it!
I was in this concert and it was one of the most beautiful nights of my life!
The man with the voice that can make you cry, make you groove, and give goosebumps with it’s power
Ooh, what a song. What a rendition.
So glad I’ll be seeing Peter Next October in Palm Springs. In 1980 I was 16 years old and had been a die hard Genesis / Gabriel fan since I was 14. 94.7 KMET (the mighty MET) announced he was doing a record signing for his new album (3, or “melt”) at Tower Records on Sunset BLVD during the day on a school day. I begged my parents to let me miss school so that I could drive to Hollywood from the San Fernando Valley to meet my hero. They said yes. So I waited in line with scores of other people. At least an hour passed as the line slowly advanced. I waited, with Nursery Cryme in my hands while Tower Records played the new record over and over and we all listened. The crowd was mostly quietly listening the entire time. When it was finally my turn, he warmly said hello and asked my name. I told him my name and he signed the record. I was too nervous to say anything else, although I longed to tell him how much I loved him, and how much his music had meant to me. It is such a vivid, perfect memory. And it was a perfect day. ❤
His voice dominates without borders...
Peter Genius Gabriel...
Love this theme and Love Peter. Un adelantado para su época.
Greetings from Greece.I was there. One of the best concerts I've ever attended.
Goddamn he sounds like he just walked out of a Lamb Lies Down On Broadway recording session 13 years earlier. Voice didn't change!
I listen to this emotional song and think of my Mom who is in heaven,I love you Mom❤❤❤
It is this man on this planet? amazing tune!!1
Man he's sooo amazing...
What a great recording!! Peter and the Band at their very best
One of my favorite Peter Gabriel songs. A beautiful video. Thanks for posting!
Tears
Unbelievable... What a great time in my life - PG is the best!
His best version. Was Lucky to see!
A great song, a great concert, a great time.
My Favorite PG Song 🎵 (and GOD Knows, I have many!) There's something magical about his voice over the keys. The version that appears on Robert Fripp's Exposure Album is just... Awesome! ❤
For me, you remain the same ! You are so amazing and beautiful !
Seems so relevant in these plague days. Love PG and love this song to bits. Tearing me open right now, to be honest.
That's what brought me here
Same here...I felt the same back in 1987...still the same 2020
I feel ya!!!
Thanks Eagle Rock for this upload. What a memories!!!
Was he singing live there? It didn't sound too live to me.
@@EugeniaLoli I am sure he was. I was quite close to the stage and his neck showed huge singing effort most of time.
Beautiful
Emotion
Fantastic
Uno dei più grandi artisti di tutti i tempi. Un visionario, un Poeta un uomo eccezionale! Grazie Peter 💙
Best version of this song in my opinion. The synth sound, the voice - both perfect
peter e sempre stato un grande...questa canzone e' una delle tante meraviglie che ci ha regalato...
One of the best from PG. I was in the Barcelona concert of that year.
Best version ever.
Try the version on Robert Fripps album exposure, I think its excellent. There’s a few great versions of this song he’s performed tbh.
Echoes from PF and this song - awakening of people! I am so happy my father saved the best prog records until today and helped me to find the most beautiful music ever. Greetings to all good people, who want to listen, from Serbia (or "dark" socialist Yugoslavia where generation of my parents enjoyed Genesis, Pink Floyd (I still have Dark Side of the Moon published in Yugoslavia under licence by Yugoton :)) and other great bands creating music that is no longer made anywhere in this shinny capitalism we got.
this was great on tonights episode of - The Americans~
Best show of 2013
Marvellous SONG / at 1'59 = tears !!!
Classic.

Love that '80s hair. :)
So poetically awesome!
He really can play piano.
beauty song thanx
un génie Peter
Splendide !!!
wonderfulsong,sogood
Damn.
Peter, we LOVE you / a Flower ?
OMG
Superb musicians and song.I like to tease my friends by asking them what the song means
Haunting
Can’t agree this is a particular good performance. First of all, the song is shortened and the electric Yamaha piano brings in an element of „plastic“. Cold as the 80s.
Esta vaina no puede ser mejor, de pana.
Lord, her comes the Corona Flood!
The advert is nearly as long as the song! I wanted the second verse!
It is extremely irritating that the audio has been somehow pitched up by a semitone to Dm. There's no way PG sang it at this pitch - you can tell just from listening - he sounds unnaturally high. I can't think why this was allowed to happen. An incredible moment by an incredible artist somewhat ruined.
Yes, this is like Don Henley doing Hotel California in e- minor today!
Something has been fucked up in post-production. PG won't have sung it on stage in this key. I'm not a tech, but it's possible that the original tapes are too slow when played at the correct pitch. It sounds petty to make a fuss, but we're not listening to what the audience heard, which is a massive shame
The pitch corrected version is on the special edition of So on Spotify
Go ahead Citibank and Schwabb, hide in your island. You were my neighbor and incredibly friendly in San Rafeal when you opened the SCAM.
Is that a Yamaha CP-80 Peter is playing?
Yes. Sounds like it's got chorusing and "shimmer" reverb courtesy of the Eventide processor in the rack to his left. I miss my CP-80. I was offered "silly" money for it from a local recording studio. I found a smaller CP-70 the next week which I still have, but has never sounded as good as that CP-80. Videos of both on my channel.

Wrong key. Half a step too Sharp.

Does Mel Gibson look like him or what?
Why so shooooort
