Neato Botvac Side Brush O-Ring Replacement

This video shows the side brush motor and o-ring. Eventually, after long prolonged use your o-ring drivebelt will either get too stretched out and start slipping, or it may crack all together resulting in your side brush not spinning anymore. The original o-ring that came with the Botvac is made of silicone. I replaced my original o-ring belt with a Buna-N Nitrile belt because these are supposedly better suited for this type of application.

Where did you get a replacement O ring the same size? is that something carried at most hardware stores?

I went to my local Ace Hardware. In the plumbing section, they had a large assortment of O rings. Purchased Danco Stock# 35747. It’s a #33 O ring.
Dimensions are 1 1/16 O.D x 15/16 I.D.
Works like a charm. I grabbed a couple just in case.

I replaced the o-ring and you were right -- it was brittle, cracked, and stretched out. The new one is tighter and seems like it should work. But unfortunately, I must have a different issue because the side brush is not spinning. Do you know what I should check next? Thanks!

Monica, it's most likely the motor then. The motors don't die out very often, but I have seen it happen. If not the motor, then the board. But I would bet on the motor being bad.

Thanks for the quick reply and information. I've watched this video of yours many times and it was very helpful to me. I ordered a used assembly off of eBay and hopefully that fixes it. On a side note, I had a Roomba before this Neato Botvac and it really was a lot easier to work on.

It seems like the Neato is more problematic, but I find the Neato to be a better vacuum overall. What's great about the Neato is parts are readily available so if something needs replacing, it's easy to do.

Hello Raymond, yes it did! The old o-ring was stretched out and didn't fully spin the brush when the motor ran. The new o-ring fixed it.
