yep, should of had that epidural with my only full term pregnancy, by the time i had medicine for blood pressure and medicine to get contractions started again, it wasn't natural anyway, lol. Years later I saw an editorial in a women's magazine saying that using pain relief in labor is natural because we have medicines available that we would use for any other pain, it's natural as a human being to treat pain.

That is not true. Our rewards are seeing the positive outcome in each scenario we are involved in. Our reward are the lives saved, the smiles experienced, the positive change that was caused in them and in us, the knowing that we make a huge difference each and every day. We just need to open our eyes to these rewards, whether being in the medical field or in our daily living, in our lives and in the lives of strangers, family, and friends. Life is amazingly rewarding!!!
Being brave for ourselves or for someone is a reward in itself. Nurses, firemen, policemen, and soldiers are the bravest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and knowing. They are my heroes and that is a reward.

@@tooshay4me You are so right. I believe that line was intended for the patient who was trying to brave out the pain w/o asking for analgesia. I've had several nursing roles, in post-op rehab, and as a Hospice nurse. Trying to educate patients (and/or their families) about the benefits of analgesia was a skill I learned very quickly, & usually with great success.

I feel so much for all these folks. When she spoke about seeing things when they were apart and thinking, "Stephen would like this" it went straight to my heart. My partner died from a massive heart attack in 2000 and everyday I find myself thinking, "Chris would like this". We had 25 years together and it's been almost 24 since. Yet everyday I think of Chris.

It is really hard to let go of those types of thoughts and feelings, but you should try to just treasure the times you did have together. It was his free will to go perhaps coupled with his spirit of adventure. You may well have done the right thing by letting him go, you loved him so much you did that for him.

Yes but it's a clinical trial though, It could have a positive affect like your friend had or it could have a bad side affect. In the US the FDA has lighter requirements than MHRA/EMA people don't mind being used as guinea pigs in the US because they get paid extremely well to go through the trials and risking having bad side affects or even worse illnesses!!
It even says it online everyone - This is talking about FDA (the standards it upholds are notably less stringent than those mandated by the The European Medicines Agency (EMA).)
Besides that you are right that the Cleveland Clinic is world renowned and one of the best hospitals in the world, I see why many people would trust the Academic Clinic they call Cleveland Clinic!!!

His mom passed from it though when 6 months pregnant, so im not saying they're taking it lightly, just that every case is different and medical advancements have truly improved quality of life. Same with left heart hypoplastic syndrome. Only two hospitals even offer transplant in US. All others do only three reconstructive surgeries.

"Well let me call down and get permission to call the blood bank then I'll call the blood bank and get them going, we may have to go out and recruit your kind of blood, but we should have you out of here, one way or another by teatime, eh mate?"

God, it's so awful to see people cry because of a pregnancy. For a time that should be full of joy, sometimes it's just not the right time or the health of baby and/or mom are in question, and it turns into an emergent situation. No matter what, it's very hard on the mother and the dad. God bless women everywhere
