When you said between Citizen and Seiko, you give the upper hand to Citizen. Truer words have never been spoken. Honestly over the past 10 years, I think Citizen has clearly distanced itself as a maker of watches over Seiko. I just purchased the Citizen CC5001-00W. I couldn't wait for your review.
I am a retired diver from the Cuban navy …….. and that is a proper dive watch . You make the best watch reviews in the web . Respect ……. by the way , when it comes to dive watches , I'd take a Citizen over a Seiko , any day of the week . I laugh my ass out every time a desk diver complains about a watch that doesn't hack or winds …… Lol .
I was looking at dive watches recently because I’ve always liked the style. I know nothing about dive watches and have never been diving and probably won’t. I was just given this watch by my 2 kids for my birthday. They were observing me looking at watches and remembered I was looking and admiring this one. It’s way too big for my wrist and way too much watch for me. I don’t care, my kids saved up there own money and picked this one out for me. I will wear it daily with pride. Thank you for the hands on review.
I have been buying Citizen watches for over 40 years, also have bought many more expensive brands, but always drawn back to Citizen, their QC is second to none!
i have had my satellite wave eco drive watch for about 8 years now and it still shows as a full battery and is exactly the second. love these watches so much.
Citizen blows Seiko out of the water! Edit: Just bought a NOS Citizen Aqualand with the dual LCD screens and the skeletonized hands and man it's a cool watch...
Love the look of this watch but I think the older jp2000 is definitely more functional. For me it has too many hands on the dial and I prefer the lcd screen on the older model. Still don’t understand why dive watches are made with red on the dial or hands. Red looses its colour underwater very quickly. Also that water sensor which starts the dive function will become very annoying when washing your hands or it stars to rain.
Yeah, I'll probably buy one. I already own two Citizen watches (Eco-drive chrono with perpetual calandar and new Bullhead). I completely agree with the author on quality difference between Seiko and Citizen. My friend asked me to assist in buying Seiko SKX007 and I was shocked by how cheap this watch looks and feels, I was totally unimpressed. There are proper Seikos - Alpinist, Presage, but just not their diver watches. Maybe they are good at their functions, but there are definitely better executed and better looking divers for the same price, or watches on par with quality, but two-three times cheaper (Vostok Amphibia).
I really like Seiko, but they definitely have QC issues. The chapter ring alignment is a huge issue, and not just the budget models. They should work on that instead of releasing $6,000 divers. I have a Citizen NY-0080, no alignment issues or any issues to report.
I've been wearing a 2029 promaster aqualand for 3 years it's bombproof. Got adapters for a proper bracelet, this new model does not need that so yeah maybe I'll get this one too!
Perfect video and review one of fan like me for citizen heritage…. N u know what just ordered one on sale as been looking into this model from last 2 years. So excited and can’t wait to wear them. Mama Mia 👍😍 as old school and always love watches so this is the beauty no doubt and never had Pepsi Bazel watch. Thanks for your review man 👨..
Nice review and I agree with you on Seiko v Citizen QC. Citizens are much better, I've bought three in the last month, because I've been so impressed with them. All cost less than £300 and the seconds hands hit the markers, unlike my former Tuna which cost £800. Great lume and great straps. Can't decide which is best, the Ray Mears 2 or the BN0151 diver.

I'm looking to purchase this watch but the model number I'm interested in is BN2036-14E. It has yellow depth numbers and ready marking.
Just got a great deal on the red bezel stainless bracelet version. It's a big watch but very comfortable. Fantastic bracelet, the sliding dive extension is way superior to the one on the Seiko tuna SB.
Another good diver from Citizen. But,because 99,9% of the people that will buy it are not prof. divers,a sapphire crystal will be better option, especially for this price. The black version is more classy
I've always had great luck with Citizen QC except on one occasion where the chapter ring was off slightly to the right and the bezel was off slightly to the left on a BN0150-28E, I remember taking the watch out of the box and letting out a big sigh. It looked awful and I returned it. I still want one, but now I'm a little nervous about it like I am with Seiko.
Question. Like this watch and I like the one with the SS band. If I purchase the SS band how difficult is it to adjust the band to fit over my wet suite vs wrist. That's one big consideration with the non-stainless band. Thanks!
Please, what do you think of the silicone bracelet for the watch? Did you experience any complaint or corrosion? Is the silicone bracelet as practical and can handle the daily lifestyle as the metal bracelet?
Just found one of these on sale and placed my order. Is it possible to switch out the rubber for a stainless steel bracelet? I wore a SEIKO automatic for years in the Army and it made my wrist sweat like hell. It won't be my daily watch, but I really would like this Pepsi style with SS. Great review!!
Yes, I went online and orderd a Citizen Original OEM stainless steel bracelet part # 59-S07192. Keep in mind that they're not cheap. I got it installed at a watch repair shop, and it looks fantastic!
I fall in love in this watch All of my watches have sapphire crystal glass and I'm afraid of mineral one. What about using it in practice ? Does it realy easy to scratch ? or maybe is "better quality" mineral glass?
I’m not sure if people purposely scratch their mineral crystals or what? I have owned MANY mineral crystals and NEVER put a scratch on any! Mineral crystals take head on impacts better than sapphire! They shatter much easier than mineral crystals, that’s why most divers watches use mineral over sapphire! I’d rather scratch my crystal while 25 meters down rather than shatter it! But if it’s a desk diver if you want sapphire then get it but if your gonna dive in it use mineral!! I’m an old former police search and rescue diver and I would definitely take mineral over sapphire into a dive any day!!
I love this watch and even had the black version for a while but the matte dial I just find very bland 😕 it needs a nicer dial to make it shine! I find Citizen uses this style with quite a few of their divers watches, I think a textured dial would go a long way 👌🏼
Hey, thanks, man. Nice practical review. I just bought the limited edition 30th Anniversary model with the copper+ black accents, not knowing anything about it AT ALL. My original 20-yr old Eco-Drive dive model finally quit on me, after years and years in the ocean with it surfing, snorkeling, swimming, etc, the battery just shit the bed. It owed me nothing, and it served me very, very well. I was just looking to replace it with the newest Eco-Drive diving equivalent, and I went to my Rolex guy to see what he had. He had the red+blue Pepsi model like yours, and the much more expensive 30th Anniversary Limited model. To be honest, I just liked the way it looked against my olive skin better than the Pepsi, so I spent the money. But the new Pro Master doesn’t operate ANYTHING LIKE my old Citizen, which functioned like a chronometer with a three-dial stopwatch and depth gauges. So, for the life of me I found nothing intuitive about the buttons and the crown only slightly so. Your review helped A LOT. I love the watch ...with two big dislikes. First...all of those extra hands at 3 o’clock are really distracting because they’re just not distinct enough from the timekeeping hands. They should be painted another color, in daylight. Red...yellow...lime green...something. Anything different. I have took twice to see what time it is. Second: unlike you, I find the rubber bracelet yes comfortable, but no, cheaply made and a cost-saving shortcut that doesn’t impress. NOT on a $700+ dive watch, it doesn’t. The buckle is nice and substantial, that’s a plus. But man, a watch in this price point should have a rubber band with concave rounded ends that conform to the curvature of the watch casing for a truly finished, pro look that’s “uptown” all the way. No air gaps and awkward looking open spaces between the end of the band and the watch casing. The stock ProMaster band is at best a $5 part to manufacture. Maybe only $2. For this price point, compete with the big boys and get the curved-ends rubber dive band, guys. *Sheesh!* I’ve just replaced my brand new stock band with a new one that fits much better and whose soft silicon rubber isn’t quite so sticky to get cinched under the holders. $60 well spent. Otherwise, I love the watch. It wears on my wrist like my hefty ref.126660 DeepSea Sea-Dweller- a massive piece of Swiss stainless. 👍😎
In reference to the power reserve hand, is it supposed to stay at the acquired level of charge for that day? I have this same watch and when I wear it outside for the day it will move up to about the medium level charge, however, upon leaving it overnight it will deplete almost down to zero.
Strange issue you're having. You shouldn't see the power reserve hand move that fast. Are you sure you're not pressing the "dive" button? It should normally take MONTHS to see the power reserve hand move at all.
@@maverickwatchreviews LOL, I am completely aware of what I am doing with the watch and "not pressing the dive button". I am a scuba diver and this is my second watch. It has been maintaining a medium charge because I have been wearing it outside for the past three days.
Lmao, well something is either wrong with your watch or you haven't let it charge fully. These solar watches simply don't show a full charge one day and then empty the next. An accumulated 24 hours in bright sunlight should charge the watch for about 6 months and then you would very slowly see the power reserve hand move down, never suddenly overnight.
I am a huge Seiko fan as well. I recently picked up a new Altichron after years of not owning a Citizen. I was blown away by the build quality overall.
I'm a Seiko fanboy from years back but haven't cared much for toys after I became a father. Anyhow my son is coming of age and introducing him to watches I tell him Seiko is where its at only to find Seiko sadly lacking and disappointing me so I bought him a Stainless Citizen Diver as a daily beater and the thing is tough as nails whereas two Seiko's bought after the fact were returned with issues. He has a couple of Seiko Grand Sports but about to splash on an Altichron in the khaki/olive drab and the Seiko Prospex SSC741P, if this Seiko lets me down in any way, shape or form Seiko are as good as done in this house. Citizen are just built tough while Seiko is screwing around trying to join the exotic watch crowd
Attractive watch, citizen is the shiz, I don’t like the hour and minute hands, look like a invicta grand diver, I wish they would comeout with that exact strap in a 20mm
There is actually a 4th model which is a limited edition of only 1000 units. It is the CITIZEN PROMASTER MARINE BN2030-88L for Team KUROSHIO . www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2047675.m570.l1312.R1.TR10.TRC2.A0.H0.Xc.TRS2&_nkw=CITIZEN+BN2030-88L&_sacat=0
Hi.. I heard you have been reviewing Citizen and Seiko watches so i'd like to ask you.. What is your take between this Citizen and the new Arnie from Seiko, model SNJ027? I like both, but can only afford one. Thoughts? Thank you!
RED DEPTH INDICATION NUMBERS UNREADABLE. Some of the water depth indication numbers are dark red and they are very hard to see even above water. How can you see them underwater when there is less light? I have this beautiful watch but I really wonder how the Citizen engineers have made this big mistake..
When you see the price tag, and you feel like hacking , because you cant breathe. Like an obstruction in your wind pipe. Make sure you have an inhaler handy with you so you don't pass out! 😱
I don't like how the light blue dial doesn't match the saturated blue on the strap or bezel insert. Plus, the images show the dial matching, so it's just bad advertising all over.
SHORT BAND/STRAP. You should mention this. Grown men with a wrist size over 8 inches will not like the new size of the band. Over the years, Citizen has shortened to about 8 inches . Big difference from the Citizen dive watches from 10, 20, and 30 years ago. Citizen does not have a longer rubber/silicone band for these 22mm lug watches.
Love the watch! Looks great but I’m not crazy about the movement. And I have 4 other Citizens including the Navihawk AT. Just wish it had the Seiko 7S26C or the hacked NH36A style.

Im a huge Seiko fan but have recently turned my attention to Citizen. Just picked up one of these new for $399AUD. Brilliant watch 👌
I really like Seiko cases but at the same range of prices Citizen and Orient give u more....
I use to be the same...
Same as well. I’m Seiko & Casio fan buy from now on citizen also on my list. I love steel on watches and just nine one ordered almost 390$ US 😍

Yes, you can put those depth hands anywhere than 3 a clock, but then if you dive you get wrong readings. Depth meters can read from inside ring.
if you love quality then you should better get yourself a Citizen ! Citizen all the way ! greetings from 🇩🇪...
it would be nice if the depth indicator hands could be used as GMT hands as well
Citizen blows Seiko out of the water!
Edit: Just bought a NOS Citizen Aqualand with the dual LCD screens and the skeletonized hands and man it's a cool watch...
I like the pressure sensor and depth indicators, just what I need when I jump in the pool.
I use the sensors when I rescue stranded sailors in submarines.
You are a great reviewer. Your laugh is contagious.
Thanks brother :)
This watch is next on my buy list
Thanks for a great video
Love the look of this watch but I think the older jp2000 is definitely more functional. For me it has too many hands on the dial and I prefer the lcd screen on the older model. It fits right out of the box too.

Would almost certainly get this if it had a sapphire crystal.
I have the 20th Anniversary edition. Full titanium case and titanium band with polyurethane insets. Never seen anything like it since.
Just got one today, love it. Thanks for the review!
Nice to finally have a video abt this new model. I may buy the black version as my 1st Citizen.

I'm pretty sure they do have models with the ss bracelet.

Just purchased one two days ago for 538$ great watch.

It has a dive extension.
Can you review the Citizen Skyhawk blue angels JY8078-52L? It’s a great unique watch but I have not seen many reviews out there about that timepiece
Very cool. Am I crazy to want one of these more than a Seiko Tuna?
No. No you’re not.
Did u get one?
Nice watch.hope they release this in India.
Does it have screw down crown ? I own an aqualand since 2002 .the rhread is worn and now my beautiful watch is in the drawer!
Yes
Great revue👍
Thanks so much!
Do you have a video on setting time on a Citizen GMT?
Fantastic review! I'm thinking about getting the stainless steel orange one.
You should!
Got to get this watch got the older one but this looks good. How much is it.
I actually just bought at at Kay’s jewelers and it was about 450 I think, it was on sale that’s why I got it.
Thanks man for the review keep it up
Is the earlier promaster dive the exact same thing? They look identical just the dial is black and the case is blackand stainless
Why the current depth meter hand is so short? It should reach the meter readings!
I love these watches... I’ve had an older version on back order for over a month ☹️
Nice review 👍🏼

The silicone strap is great.
When u unscrew the crown and u enter the dive mode, is it that the watch time will stop moving?
That strap seems very short or do you have an 8 inch wrist?

When you see the price tag, and you feel like hacking , because you cant breathe. Like an obstruction in your wind pipe. Make sure you have an inhaler handy with you so you don't pass out! 😱
When you have a chesty cough and hack up a load of phglem which you have to gob out
What does hackable mean?
Means you like Gene Hackman movies.
When you pull the crown out all the way, the second hand stops so you can set the time to the exact second.

Yes, you can go from rubber, rock, r&b, country or trance. Lol
For that price a sapphire should be standard. Also a day function would be nice. Otherwise Citizen is the best bang for your buck these days.
I definitely agree about the sapphire.
anyone know where is this watch made from? china or japan thanks
Japan
I don't like how the light blue dial doesn't match the saturated blue on the strap or bezel insert. Plus, the images show the dial matching, so it's just bad advertising all over.
I went for the all red bezel version. It's the model to go for in my opinion. Pepsi scheme has been done to death.
You wouldn't have depth/max depth capabilities with an NH36A movement or an ascent alarm.
Stephen Ferrell Good point. Think I’ll start lobbying for this
looks manly! i presume it comes in black too
CITIZEN PROMASTER MARINE BN2036-14E AQUALAND Eco-Drive I think thats the same model cept in black. perhaps you can confirm.
