I have a 2019 JGC limited only one of the 2 key fobs stopped working but only the key detected part is not functioning but on that fob it remote starts locks and unlocks the doors the other fob works perfectly what do u think is the problem??
Based on the information you've provided, it appears that there might be an issue with the key detection component of one of your key fobs for your 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. Since the remote start, locking, and unlocking functions are working fine on that fob, the problem may be specific to the key detection or transponder component.
To diagnose the issue and potentially resolve it, you may consider checking the battery in the faulty fob to see if it has sufficiently charged. A weak or depleted battery can affect key detection. Carefully inspect the non-functioning key fob for any physical damage, such as a cracked casing or damaged key blade. Physical damage could impact the key's functionality. Attempt to reprogram the key fob that's not working for key detection. There might be a simple synchronization issue that can be resolved through reprogramming. If you've exhausted all troubleshooting options and your key fob's key detection component is still not functioning correctly, it may be time to consider getting a replacement key fob.
I went on to order a key fob and programmer for my 2018 Grand Cherokee. Do I have to rent the programmer?
I figured I would be buying it and then have it if I needed another key for that vehicle in the future.
For Jeep Grand Cherokee 2018-2022, the EZ Installer™ Programmer will NOT work. You must contact a local car dealership or automotive locksmith for assistance in programming it to your vehicle (additional cost). Currently, we don't have a DIY solution for this key, but you can purchase the key from us and have it programmed at a dealership or by a local locksmith.
FYI - you'll probably save money on buying the OEM key fob from us and then taking to dealership or local locksmith to program.
Great video but during this sequence my Jeep Grand Cherokee 2014 key fob would not pair up until I pressed the LOCK button, not the UNLOCK button.

Is the program updated to program a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee (older model)?
Unfortunately no. Jeep made some changes in 2018 that we don't yet have a good DIY solution for. Not sure when we'll have one. Your best bet may be checking our partnerships on this page to see what it may cost. tomskey.com/pages/cant-find-my-vehicle

As long as the vehicle can from the manufacturer with remote start, the remote start button will work.

Hello, the key from Tom's Key Company is a default one, and the owner should set it on their own once it is programmed. You may link the new key to each profile and look it up in your owner's manual. Pls. reach out to us at help@tomskey.com for further assistance.
I'll bet that was a former rental vehicle. I went through this last winter when I bought a used 2020 Pacifica that was a former Enterprise vehicle. My C-J salesperson told me they never get two dibs when they but rental vehicles. I had the dealer make an OEM fob up for under $290. No other sources in my area were equipped to do the job. BTW, I live in a suburb of Detroit.

Hey I bought a used key fob on eBay for my dodge can I still program it. I don’t know if it’s still programmed to the person I bought it from.
It might program, it might not. Depends if that particular fob requires being wiped clean before it can be re-programmed. Some brands it's as simple as programming to your vehicle and it will work. Others it requires a lot of effort to erase the prior vehicle from the key fob memory. I just don't know for this one. Order the kit - it comes with the programmer and one fob. You'll be able to get the fob from the kit programmed. Then you can try programming the one from eBay and you might end up with 2 spares.

My original key works only when i place it in the ignition(push to start doesnt work due to damaged key) could i still program a new key?

Yes - even if your existing key is damaged, it still starts the engine so you can drive. So, yes you can use the kit to program a new spare key.

Can I use a Grand Cherokee key fob and reprogram it to my Cherokee?
You don't mention this in the video, but the programmer isn't some5hing you buy, you are essentially getting it on loan and need to return for core. Is this so.ething new, or did i go to the wrong section on the website?
It depends on the vehicle. Some have a programmer you will own and keep. Others are more expensive so we rent then out since most people only need it once. So it depends on which vehicle you are making a key for.
Most our Jeep programmers are ones you still keep and own in car you ever need it again for the same vehicle

@@stealthmanx2 Looks like the 2014-2017 Durango uses a rental programmer and the 2013 and newer have programmers that will be owned by the customer.

@@TomsKeyCompany-DIY Ended up buying a refurbed oem key from oem car key mall before you replied. $60 dollars since it is used. Hopefully, it programs correctly. If not then I will check out yours. Jeep is currently back ordered on my key fob from the dealership.
This is not a Cherokee as it says it is, grand Cherokee and Cherokee not the same nor are the fobs

Toms Keys confirms this DOES NOT work for 2020 Jeep even though fob appears to be the same as what you show in the video.
Unfortunately Jeep made some changes with their vehicle computer, so even though it looks the same as earlier years the DIY programming doesn't work. Hopefully in future years we will have a solution though!
