  • Oxygen hemoglobin dissociation curve explained - This lecture explains about the mechanism of oxygen dissociation curve of hemoglobin. Oxygen dissociation curve also known as oxygen saturation curve of hemoglobin is an indicator for explaining when oxygen will remain bound with hemoglobin and also when hemoglobin releases oxygen in body cells. The cycle of oxygen binding and release with hemoglobin is explained with the dissociation curve. Oxygen hemoglobin dissociation curve is really important to understand the mechanism of oxygen release from hemoglobin at low pH acidic environment in body cells. While the oxygen saturation curve is generally shifted to the right.

      This curve represents cooperative binding of ligand to protein which is different from an hyperbolic curve
