this is late, but you should slowly inch back your wake up time with an alarm every few days or so, and sleep with your curtains open so your body’s clock can get back to normal
@@emma-vb8ys I believe you're right. I've seen people staying up all night to fix their sleep schedule and it doesn't last. It's been a month since my 5 AM video, so I wanted to just create this video as an update! Sleep schedule has definitely never been better, so I think if you're looking for a big reset on your sleep, this is the way to go.
So to clarify your method is to wake up at 5am for 5 days straight? How do you suggest starting that if you’re falling asleep really late i.e. 4am atm Do I still have to wake up at 5am despite being tired and have only had 1 hour sleep? Ps thanks for your video

Nice video and the method you showed is pretty eficient at fixing sleep schedule but you absolutely need 8 hours of sleep a night.Sleeping only 5 hours once wont have that big of an impact but regurarely sleeping less than 8 hours is detrimental for recovery and health, plus the example you gave about arnold is not a good one.Sleping less than 6 hours a day can enormeus detrimental effect on testosterone levels because testosterone is synthesised during sleep, not enough sleep results in not enough testosterone.Arnold didnt need sleep as he got his testosterone from needles but for any normal person who doesnt take steroids not sleeping enough on a regular basis will result in a poor athletic performance and muscle gaining ability.
When I was younger, I could take an afternoon nap, go to bed at a sensible time, enjoy a full night’s rest, and wake up early the next day. Now, however, if I take an afternoon nap, I struggle to sleep that same night, which throws off my entire sleep pattern.
My problem is, I never want to go to sleep, for some reason I just do everything to avoid whether it's watching RUclips or tv or reading it's always something, and I don't know why, because when I do go to sleep I just want to sleep a little longer
Quick tip. I've realised that the the sleep issue is a case by case basis. Some people are overly stressing over something while someone else is completely bored throughout the day with nothing to do. For me, it was boredom eventhough I had plenty of stuff to do. My best sleep has been sleeping at 11 and waking up at 4 am. Never in my life have I felt better. Srry yall, you're gonna have to sacrifice one day and stay awake all day to reset that schedule.

Right now it 1 pm (i just wake up and writting this comment as commitment.) Wish me luck 😊
It’s easier than you think. Most of the info in this video was not based on true science. You need to see the early morning sunlight. If you’re not going to bed until noon, go for a leisurely walk when the sun comes up. Also start timing your meals, and any medications that you might take, to your new desired times. I’m currently working on this same problem. I have chronic fatigue syndrome. So, if I have a fatigue crash, I’ll sleep a lot for several days, and my circadian rhythm goes out the window. In the past, when my sleep cycle has gotten screwed up, I can fix it in about a week. Morning sunlight is the key. Take it day by day, and your body will give you cues. You’ll be back to normal in no time.
I'm a chronic extremely late sleeper. 4-5pm wake time. It's awful, and has made life very difficult. I once reset my clock by going on a cross country road trip. I didn't want to spend money on hotels so I slept in the car. The sunlight pouring into my car every morning was powerful and impossible to sleep through. After the first day of feeling like absolute shit, it was not only easy, but natural for me to wake up at times I would consider "ridiculous" like 8am. This didn't stick however and my schedule quickly reverted to sleeping very late. I think camping is the most low effort way to reset your schedule to a reasonable societally acceptable time .
I am a night owl and I don't want to create my own business. I want to be able to work in a regular office, in finance or consulting, but with a second shift schedule. We do really need to develop these kinds of jobs. For instance, working remotely with foreign country can be a solution.
My huge issue is that I want to sleep earlier but simply can’t. If I went to sleep at 1 am I wake up at 3 am and my body treats that sleep as a nap. I can no longer go back to sleep after this and it in fact pushes when I feel sleep even later making it worse. How can I sleep earlier? I want to wake up in the am. I want to wake up before 10.
I've had that too before with going to bed at 8pm and waking up 1hr later. I find that it's very difficult, even impossible to reset sleep back to normal by just staying up all day for 1 day. The rule I use is going to bed either 2 hours later or earlier than the day before and just pushing it until it's back to normal. Pushing sleep back is usually easier because all it takes is staying up longer, going to bed earlier requires good sleep hygiene like running a lot and reducing artificial lights etc. I'd also really recommend doing relaxing activities during the day, mindfulness, running, do that for me but yoga, swimming, lying down doing nothing (no phone or book), or doing other tasks like chores that take effort but not thought can clear one's mind too. Find what works for you, and if you have friends doing it together can be easier. Most of all don't stress it. It's worse to go all in for a week and then be completely uninterested in resetting your sleep for months on end. I'd rather make gentle changes to my schedule and sleep routine and slowly going with what works.
I’ve been sleeping 9-10 PM consistently since June 2020, started sleeping late at October and that basically became a habit and now It’s hard to a-line the old habit I did, been sleeping always 11:30-12AM and max is 2 AM.
i just pull out an all nighter everytime i need to change my sleep schedule it works, even in military they do that on some first day of bootcamps @ night of arrival, they wont let you sleep till next day.
My issue is I go to bed about 8-10pm, then I have broken sleep where I wake almost every hour or two.. then by sometimes 2am or 3am, I just want to get out of bed and start my day, and I get up and have a coffee and start my morning routine, but then by about 7am I need a nap, coz I didn’t get enough sleep... I keep trying to stop napping to fix my sleep routine, but this has been going on about 5 years, and I can’t seem to fix these habits
My sleep schedule is like dominos I sleep late I wake up late forever 🙂 and the problem is I push myself to wake up early when my ass is awake at 4 am also I hate my fucking family I try to sleep at 9 boom the tv is on full volume my brothers literally running around the whole house FUCKING SCREAMING it takes me 3 hours to fall asleep and nobody in my house will shutup until it's 1am like please bro

Step 1 -don’t jump from waking up at 11am to 7am. Do it in Increnents of 30 minutes. Step 2-Only sleep if you are tired but still wake up at your designated wake up time Step 3- get your body into sunlight upon waking Step 4- no caffeine or stimulants …. I suggest starting this on a long weekend with 3 days off in a row. The first 3 days are miserable. Took an entire week for me to wake up at 7 comfortably. I did it the hard way and slept in on the 3rd day. Remember… 30 minute increments. Otherwise good luck
My issue is that when I go to bed at 9pm to wake up at 5 I end up waking up at 2 a.m. and it ruins my energy level for the whole day. Does anybody else go through this?
Great video, but I feel like this wouldn’t work for me. For about 3 years now I’ve been going to sleep at like 5-6 am and waking up anytime in the afternoon since I’m cyberschooled. I’ve tried to do stuff like this but I’ve laid in bed multiple times for 5-6+ hours in the dark trying my hardest to fall asleep and I just can’t. I don’t know why it sucks and it’s starting to really get to me
It’s usually like that in the first days, when I tried fixing mine It used to be like that too but I still struggle but it’s not that bad. Now it takes me 1hour or 2 to fall asleep.
i work friday-sunday 6:00am to 6:30pm and o always fond myself going to sleep at 2 am consistently keep in mind my drive is 30 minutes and i wake up at 4:30-4:50
Great video, although I have heard that less than 8 hrs of sleep doesnt have any immediate effect, but it affects you later in your life. Like after 10 years. Looking to shift my schedule back 3 hrs :). Also when I went abroad for a 5 day trip in a 2.5 hrs timezone difference, my sleep cycle was fixed 😂

I keep sleeping like sort of early like 11pm then waking at 4am and then staying awake for HOURS and then going back to sleep the time I should wake up.
I know this video is a little old but regarding your opinion on 8 hour sleep, its been studied and proven that the actual optimal amount of sleep is 8 hours. That doesn't mean you won't be able to function without 8 hours but it is more optimal in ways that i'm unqualified to explain because idk all the details but if you wanna learn more about it you should search up Matthew Walker who goes real in depth on why its so important. While i understand your point about finding what works for you it comes off as a bit ignorant, maybe not sleeping 8 hours doesn't fit into your then current life cycle around the time of this video but that doesn't mean it is truly optimal for you behind the curtains.

I daily plan to sleep for 6:30-7 hours..and plan to sleep by 11:30/12pm and get up at 6/6:30am ...but i just can't sleep coz my roommate keep light till 1 am and make noises while I'm about sleep ...Can u just suggest me how to sleep in all these conditions
the problem is that no matter how long i lay in bed in the dark in silence i can’t sleep and can’t get tired at all until 4-6 am and then end up sleeping till like 1 pm
It works in reverse about the 8hrs thing. Some people need more and if society tells them they only need 8 when they need 9+ due to health issues etc they won't realise that extra 1-2 hrs could mean a world of difference.
The reason they recommend 8-10 hours of sleep is due to a multitude of reasons. You shouldn’t aim for strictly quantity, but also quality sleep. Majority of our bodies undergo several rem cycles(assuming everything was done properly before bed) which can increase testosterone levels by 50-100% which is nearly double what you’d get sleeping less than 8-10 hours over the span of just a few days. You also burn fat more efficiently and keep more muscle mass. Gain higher sex drive, better cognitive function, and are insulin sensitive. Sleep is crucial for natural lifters and can’t be compared to Arnold who slept 5-6 hours. Arnold was using hormones which were meant to increase follistatin which does all the things I mentioned 8-10 hours of sleep can do, and much more.
This is so hard, my first day I slept at 9 pm and woke up at 6 i thought I'm doing fine. Now is my 2nd day and it's already 1 am I've been at bed since 8 pm.. decided to just rewatch the video idk lol

I have serious issues with my sleeping schedule.. I sleep early and wake up early. Right now I want to change it and start being productive before going to be. I want to start sleeping for 6hours, I hope this 5days turns out positively. Thanks for sharing.
Good points, but you should read Matthew Walker's popular book "Why We Sleep". Theres some latest studies of sleeping. 6 hours is NOT enough for people, even if you think you function fine. It can have very harsh long-term consequences. I never felt good with less than 7 hours of sleep, so we all are different and we should not compare each others. P.S. Arnold was on steroids since he was 16 years old, so you can't compare. When using steroids, you recover much faster with less sleep.
There has been research done that 5hours is not enough for most people. The consequences of lack of sleep are very detrimental for both mental and physical health.

You gave literally zero advice on how to achieve these results. Other then just set your alarm for 5am
ugh ive been waking up at 4 pm and im feeling so unmotivated

When I was younger, I could take an afternoon nap, go to bed at a sensible time, enjoy a full night’s rest, and wake up early the next day. Now, however, if I take an afternoon nap, I struggle to sleep that same night, which throws off my entire sleep pattern.

Oh does that work?

Lockdown has really screwed me up big time. Working from home I have 180'd my sleep schedule, I drink way too much and I gained ±22 Pounds. I am gonna try this and I hope to God I will succeed.
Howd it go?
There are research showing that sleeping 8-10 hours can have tons of health benefits. I dont believe it was ever about feeling tired or not.

i have a similar sort of sleep schedule right now, im not sure how it got like this. did shocking your body like this fix it?
Ok so ya hi , i have been going to sleep around 4am or 5am and then waking up at around 1 pm or 2pm ... and then whole day i have been procastinating on study and in night i cant even focus properly.... this has been going on from more than 15days .. and is affecting my grades really badly ... so i have decided not to go to sleep for 1 night and 1 day ... and will sleep at 10 pm to wake up at 4 am or 3 am day after tommorow ..
Right now it 1 pm (i just wake up and writting this comment as commitment.)
Wish me luck 😊

I’m in the same situation but it’s 2021
Week 2 of not sleeping al night and going to bed at 12pm and waking up at 7pm, my sleep schedule is truly beyond repair
I thought the same thing! But things won’t change if you don’t give yourself a CHANCE. For years I never gave myself one. A real One.
I need 9 hours of sleep, and 17 hours of wake time. I don't belong on Earth.

Set my alarm at 5 am, and said it would go off in 23.5 hour, I guess thats why I am here

I know what I must do, but i don't know if I have the strength to do it.
I’ve been sleeping 9-10 PM consistently since June 2020, started sleeping late at October and that basically became a habit and now It’s hard to a-line the old habit I did, been sleeping always 11:30-12AM and max is 2 AM.
I been going to sleep consistently at 9:30-10:00 pm and I literally can’t wake up early bruh I will wake up at 9
i just pull out an all nighter everytime i need to change my sleep schedule it works, even in military they do that on some first day of bootcamps @ night of arrival, they wont let you sleep till next day.
Yea but then I end up falling asleep around 3pm until 7pm and fuck the whole thing up ☹️
Right off the bat, your voice is so relaxing. I'm subscribing just for that!
I keep trying to stop napping to fix my sleep routine, but this has been going on about 5 years, and I can’t seem to fix these habits
maybe you should see a sleep specialist
I have a feeling that I'm gonna be the next you
Broken sleep sucks.

Step 1 -don’t jump from waking up at 11am to 7am. Do it in Increnents of 30 minutes.
Step 2-Only sleep if you are tired but still wake up at your designated wake up time
Step 3- get your body into sunlight upon waking
Step 4- no caffeine or stimulants

Absolutely , you pay for it later. It’s called sleep debt
So 8 hours of sleep is normal.... My Teacher told me sleeping more than 6hours is not good for the body..... It makes you lazy 😅

And yeah, I'm watching this at 3 am
99.9% p people watching this:

And then snoozes until 9 :D
the problem is that no matter how long i lay in bed in the dark in silence i can’t sleep and can’t get tired at all until 4-6 am and then end up sleeping till like 1 pm
It works in reverse about the 8hrs thing. Some people need more and if society tells them they only need 8 when they need 9+ due to health issues etc they won't realise that extra 1-2 hrs could mean a world of difference.
Yea I am awake at 5am, only because I haven’t slept yet.

When using steroids, you recover much faster with less sleep.
thanks for the insight. i'll check it out.
I think there's a study of modern hunter gatherer sleep patterns that shows they usually sleep 6 or 7 hours.
