Same I used to sleep at 10:00-11:00pm for school and wake up at 8:00am and even on weekends SAME schedule not a alarm nothing just repeatedly doing it I try now but it’s like it’s completely ruined I will keep on trying my best tho :( now I sleep at 2:00-4:00am and wake up about 12:00-1:00 pm and I’m obsessed with getting 10hrs of sleep if I don’t and I wake up a hour earlier I’ll go back to sleep honestly idk how to control it anymore xD

Lifelong insomniac here: I find that reverse-psychology helps me more than meditating (and saying "don't think" on repeat as suggested here - that really will drive me crazy tbh.) I use podcasts, something I'm interested in but nothing too chatty / laughy / entertaining - something long and a bit academic. Volume not too soft (I don't know why, but slightly louder seems to work). Relax like you're going to sleep, but pay attention to the podcast. It's like attaching your mind to something irrelevant to whatever worries you're having. You're then trying to stay awake... which will ironically set you off to sleep.

I do this when I draw I slap on a easyspeedzy vid and just lose myself (sometimes I forget that other people are in the room and causally just do the most random stuff)
I like to shower, do my before bed routines, play the ukulele for a bit. Help my self relax, drink some water and think of nothing. Then, I’d turn on a podcast I like, and listen to it. I imagine my self on a hammock on a beach with my friends. I stretch and tighten my muscles, and let them relax. I sort of have this tingly, sinking feeling in my core. This helps me fall asleep very quick.

I discovered that I can fall asleep very quickly by singing all the verses of “Mary Had a Little Lamb”-it’s got enough variety so my brain doesn’t feel monotony, but it’s familiar and repetitive enough that it’s not stimulating. Hayo1706 well it’s not the fact that it’s just “blue” it’s the light in general too. But unless they test it on humans properly, we don’t know for sure. But one thing is true, any activity before bed will make you less tired. If you get in the Habit of laying down at the same exact time of day, your biological rhythms will follow and you will be more likely to be tired enough to fall as sleep if you don’t break the timing cycle and don’t do anything before bed that could spike your brain activity.
i prefer falling asleep in class than in my bed. i remember one time we had a free day and we were in the same class for the whole day. When I tell you i slept from bell to bell and it was the best sleep i’ve ever got in my life.

I have been watching those videos and I figured out what helps me the most is that WRITING. Write down what you think before going to bed. What you need to do tomorrow, howas your day, your plans, what can be improved etc. whatever keeps you awake at night figure them out and talk to yourself before bed .
I’ve known a few people who have struggled to sleep, my advice to them has been really simple and worked every time… when I go to bed the only thing I can think about is how comfy I am, just enjoy the pillow and bed around you and think only about how comfy you are, sleep comes in minutes

Good advice. I've always used this method, but going in reverse. Instead of face - head to feet, I go the other way, relaxing toes, feet legs, hips, spine, abdomen, chest, shoulders, neck head and face. Works fairly well.

In my opinion when you are done watching on your phone or something then lay your phone down on your bed near you but not too near you and listen to some video you enjoyed watching before. Then for a few minutes force yourself to watch a bit of it until you cant keep your head staring at your device because you are getting tired. Next lay your head down on your pillow and try to fall asleep with the video playing in the background. This will work better with a video that you already watched so you wont keep staring at your device to see what happens next since you already watched it. This is what I always do cuz I sleep better with something playing in the background
Really interesting upload. I take antipsychotics and anti depressants that make me massively drowsy and groggy. It’s like being drunk and I slur my words. Still sleep does not come. Instead my left arm aches and feels heavy as my heart pumps so hard and the restless legs kick in. It takes about 2-3hrs to get to sleep every single night without fail. Interestingly, I do find a cup of tea definitely helps me settle.

I used to suffer from panic attacks multiple times a day. It affected my ability to fall asleep most nights. I eventually made a full recovery from my panic attacks but struggled with pretty bad insomnia. I would try so hard to fall asleep. Just laying there with my eyes closed for hours. Eventually, I came up with a way to observe my thoughts while trying to sleep the same way I learned to observe my thoughts and feelings during a panic attack. Worked great and never had a problem falling asleep again. Now, I do a mix of that along with a mindset of not trying to fall asleep at all. I don’t care about the time, if my mind starts racing, etc. it just doesn’t matter. With this approach, I can fall asleep in what feels like an instant. Anyways, hope this helps someone or at least gets you to think about a different approach.
I hear you. I have/had panic attacks and the only real solution was simultaneously learning to not obsess about them whilst not trying to escape them. Just being, letting it flow unobstructed through me thus shortening and practically negating the negative impact. Not an easy thing at first but once you genuinely embraace the concept everyth8ng falls into place.

In my opinion when you are done watching on your phone or something then lay your phone down on your bed near you but not too near you and listen to some video you enjoyed watching before. Then for a few minutes force yourself to watch a bit of it until you cant keep your head staring at your device because you are getting tired. Next lay your head down on your pillow and try to fall asleep with the video playing in the background. This will work better with a video that you already watched so you wont keep staring at your device to see what happens next since you already watched it. This is what I always do cuz I sleep better with something playing in the background

I take antipsychotics and anti depressants that make me massively drowsy and groggy. It’s like being drunk and I slur my words. Still sleep does not come.
Instead my left arm aches and feels heavy as my heart pumps so hard and the restless legs kick in.
It takes about 2-3hrs to get to sleep every single night without fail. Interestingly, I do find a cup of tea definitely helps me settle.

I used to suffer from panic attacks multiple times a day. It affected my ability to fall asleep most nights. I eventually made a full recovery from my panic attacks but struggled with pretty bad insomnia. I would try so hard to fall asleep. Just laying there with my eyes closed for hours. Eventually, I came up with a way to observe my thoughts while trying to sleep the same way I learned to observe my thoughts and feelings during a panic attack. Worked great and never had a problem falling asleep again. Now, I do a mix of that along with a mindset of not trying to fall asleep at all. I don’t care about the time, if my mind starts racing, etc. it just doesn’t matter. With this approach, I can fall asleep in what feels like an instant. Anyways, hope this helps someone or at least gets you to think about a different approach.
I hear you. I have/had panic attacks and the only real solution was simultaneously learning to not obsess about them whilst not trying to escape them. Just being, letting it flow unobstructed through me thus shortening and practically negating the negative impact. Not an easy thing at first but once you genuinely embraace the concept everyth8ng falls into place.
Everyone else have a horrible sleep schedule cause of corona 😂
