    When I was 9 I got a genetic disease called paroxysmal kinesigenic choreateosis(short PKC). I was afraid of telling people I knew because it was so weird, I had never experienced something remotely similar before. I tried to cover it for many years but it worsened. I eventually did tell my parents about it when I was about 14½, and it's the best decition of my life. My parents were so understanding. I went to a doctor and they weren't able to figure out what it was because it's so rare, about 1 in 1 000 000(1 million). Eventually they were able to figure out what it was. I would describe the disease as basically having CP, only that PKC comes in episodes of being in a state where my body moves by itself and my arms become bended like with CP and it's hard to control and I can easily fall over. It lasts like around 20-30 seconds based on the day, and I can experience it like over 100 times on a bad day. It's a genetic problem with my nervous system.
    Luckily, my disease has a "cure", a medicine I take twice a day called trimonil and it's life changing. I take a very small dose; about 150mg a day and I can barely feel it anymore with minimal side-effects. I am now 16 and living a happy, PKC-free life.
    I hope that one day there will be a "cure" for CP too.

      @ACrownofFlowers  8 месяцев назад +6

      I'm so sorry to hear that, I'm glad there's medicine for that- sounds very disruptive. I guess it's different for me because CP isn't abruptly disruptive like that. I appreciate your support!

    I learned a lot from this video! Growing up, many of my classmates where the type of people who thought being as offensive as possible was "cool", and so they said lots of stuff (racism, sexism, ableism, nazism...) and I just... never thought to learn about eg. Cerebral Palsy for real. I feel a bit ashamed that I assumed it did affect one as an intellectual disability in general too. Thank you for spreading awareness about the reality of it! I can't pinpoint what it is, but something about your vibe is so charming, easygoing and intelligent, it makes me think of like... Tim Drake, honestly, haha :D
    And honestly, this gave me a lot to think about. Eg. I have diagnosed PTSD, so currently I don't look "different" really from the outside (except I always look generally nervous), but I had to drop out of high school because of it and am trying to study for my GED now for the first time as a 20yo. You have accomplished so much - *_a lot lot_* more than me. I _think_ I can be called disabled currently (not sure about english terminology, but I am not "functional" in daily life and work/studies rn), but so just this gave me a lot to think about, about how disabilities can look so very different *_and_* that the extent to which one is "functional" and capable to be productive in eg. work or studies etc really is not linked to one's appearance.
    It's wild how many assumptions one has, and never really notices are faulty before someone comes and explains it to your face lol.

You have a long life to live fam, I know you can be in your best shape and enjoy your life much as the normal people do, perhaps even better because people even without a brain damage act and live a life lot worse sometimes.
    I hope you're doing well, Gabe. There are a lot of misconceptions regarding serious medical issues.

    Look, my good sir, you are incredibly well-spoken. I will have you know that during this entire video, I nearly forgot that you were even suffering from a disability. This is not because I dont care, because I do it's heartbreaking to see disorders like this, it was because you caught my attention. You as a human, you're will to communicate was what I was focused on.
    What I want you to know is that despite not suffering from a physical disability, I still relate with you on many levels. The way you listed out your disability, reminded me of the times I sit and judge myself. I have severe body image issues, to the point where I can hardly look into a mirror without being horrified by my appearance. To put it frankly I've had many traumatic experiences as a child that has manifested as mental scars in my adulthood. So my point of saying that is to point out that all humans are suffering from something. Life is pain, and it punishes all humans indiscriminately. So what I want you to take from this is that no one is normal, everyone suffers, and that we can all take comfort in knowing that at least you are not alone as an imperfect human.

Inhabiting a body that does not listen to you. You are just as smart and intellectual. I would ask if you are stuck in a body that will not listen to you and obey commands. Like all the internal bio electric wireing and circuitry is not connected properly. I respect. You probably are more aware of of many things. More so than any one who disrespects you because of their misfortune in not being able to show compassion and empathy. I imagine you probably posses these traits of inner virtue compassion and empathy. The will to be kind and helpful to others. Only hope this is only just one realm of existence and after this life we Mabe go some were else thats cool. And Hope its like a paradise. Stay strong. And speak on behalf of those suffering to communicate do to the constraints of their body physical disabilities I imagine it must be like being stuck in a prison for some people. No one really sees them or hears them. The person stuck inside the prison of their own body. My best friend I went to school with. Got in an accident was in a coma for three weeks. He had internal bleeding in his brain. He woke up paralyzed in a wheel chair. He ended up dieing a tragic death in his girlfriends arms. Choked on the feeding tube. I knew he was stuck inside his body. It changed my life forever. I love you man. I m 41 grew up on video games. Watched the whole evolution from 8 bit graphics. To the amazing games we got now I got new zelda game I'm waiting for the weather to get bad so I'm stuck inside and can fully immerse myself into the game. Yeah my therapy at times is good music and I really like a good video game and the ability to escape this world for a brief while. In the realm of a good movie or a really good video game. I feel you are helping others that are trapped and seek to make a connection to other human beings it is a vital part of our existence. Its frustrating when no one seems to understand you. No one seems to see you. And you do not recieve the same love respect as. Others. Do. You do not recieve these forms of admiration. Is painfull. It hurts. Not to be noticed. It hurts sometimes. But that might not be a useful either as several disabilities like Cerebral Pares overlap between both categories as it's located in the brain while being somatic. I think the most important distiction is between Intelectual disabilities and General disabilities meaning those that do not affect one's intelligence becuase it is important to know that those of us with general disabilities have normal intelliegence

    In way, it does not matter, Gabe, I believe with issue you might have in your own body. I mean people will always judge from their perspective often ignorant because they have not interacted with you naturally for the most part, they know about you and people like you, because of other sources, as you said TV shows for example.
    But basically whenever you say that you have brain damage, I do not quite think of that as an issue, why?
    Because I see you yourself expressing coherently and eloquently over here right in front of the camera.
    That is that, so I am almost certain that it took you a good while to manage to develop your communication skills to this point, most "normal" people do not have this level themselves, so you are proof that there are things you can do to get further despite not having a favorable start so to say.
    In any case, I also know that there is this issue about trying to validate oneself in front of others. I know that that is important to a degree, but in the end it does not matter.
    Simply put, had you never post a video, you would still have the same communication skills, because you did put the work needed towards educating yourself, and I believe you can go even further, but that will again require you to asses the situation and build towards that.
    Like, I am an English teacher at my country, and I know almost for sure that you managing to improve your breathing ability will contribute greatly to you being able to speak and be understood considerably better, when talking, no doubt.
    And I knot that this same will not be told to you by the doctors you likely see on a daily basis, since they are "normal" and understand normal people needs. I have seen how taking care of certain aspects can take you to a next level, my younger cousin for instance has pronunciation issues which by now have been assimilated and are part of his speech, he does not see a need to change it, because he can interact with the world around him perfectly, people around him make an extra effort, and everything else is fine.
    But I as a teacher have worked into improving further his speaking and little by little we got results, he still is not speaking perfectly but yes, he has got much better at it, eventually I hope that he will be able to perform normally.
    Trying to validate yourself among others, in a way can be a waste of time, unless you for real want that yourself. But as I told you even without any video here on RUclips you would still be the same person.

    • @ACrownofFlowers
      @ACrownofFlowers  8 месяцев назад

      Yeah, it used to be a lot worse actually. Any improvement that I made really wasn't conscious on my part. That's really interesting man. I also had a starter when I was little, but my parents just yelled at me until it went away.

    • @lmclrain
      @lmclrain 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@ACrownofFlowers there is more efficient ways of doing that, I believe I suggested not long ago to get a Discord, since you mentioned you were already having I believe discussions philosophy related back them, but the idea of a discord channel did not call your attention.
      Whichever the case, I think you have got to a point in which you are very capable of getting new heights on your own, of course, but all that requires motivation, and meditation, assessment of one's skills, and what to do to get them to go further.
      Like you will not see me on a university again, but that because I particularly, know I can improve on my own. Back then it was useful, but not anymore.
      Simply put in a race, who wins is the fastest man, Gab, not the one with most gold medals. And you yourself, are capable of being able to tell if your skills are good, are only "ornamental" or simply you are just showing off. At least that is what I pay attention to when I am talking, and having seen enough academic texts, I myself think of me as someone very capable in a basic level, which is not common among many of my peers
      There is a reason people listen to you, and watch your channel
