      @user-ed3wq6rh6mI am losing weight from diet and exercise and let me say, I get it. I have lost twenty pounds over eleven months and have managed to keep it off while also building muscle. The thing is, this took eleven months. That included weeks where it felt like I wasn't losing any weight. That included months of my body being weird and not entirely healthy because I was working myself too hard. I can see why for a lot of people, weight loss through normal methods just feels impossible

      People are far to quick to use the "I can´t exercise because of a medical condition". Maybe she can´t do any high impact or cardio or maybe she is taking medication that makes her gain weight, but what is stopping her doing some walking, Pilates, chair exercises, exercise band work? You are right about the eating, perhaps better portion control, looking at what she drinks (high sugar). She could be one of those "I only eat salad" but drowns it with high calorie dressing. She could be one of those "I am good all week, but "treat" myself at the weekend. Neither of them look to be obese, after a certain age it is not so easy to keep the weight off so lifestyle changes are needed to maintain a healthy weight, there is no easy fix, it takes work, but it is possible for most.

      The surgery won't be effective in the long term without the lifestyle change. A lot of patients continue to eat unhealthy food in larger quantities and bloat the stomach again, resulting in weight gain.

    • @amandadavies..
      @amandadavies.. 4 месяца назад

      I was 16 stone at my biggest and would never ever have risked surgery, not even done in the UK. Plus I didn't want a chunk of my stomach taken away. I lost 6 stone of that myself, just by eating less, not even any exercise other than my usual day to day activity. No extra care like whatever the extras are that were mentioned. Didn't want any medical people involved at all. Anyone can do it, if they want it badly enough, and being smaller becomes more important than food.

    Most people would lose a significant amount of weight if they cut out alcohol, sugary/sweet drinks, junk food and fast foods. Add further loss of weight on top of that if they eat more kimchi, cruciferous vegetables and fiber. Then add further loss of weight if they take up weight training and cardio 3 to 4 times a week and they are well on their way to achieving normal healthy body weight. Did these people even try any of these things before going under the knife? I wonder.

I think it’s cheaper to reduce obesity, from what I have read, but you might be right, perhaps if we keep doing the exact same things we’ve been doing people might change all of their own accord without any help whatsoever. 🤞Hopefully if we ever have a situation where we need to defend ourselves the young will have turned the trend around and will have stopped becoming increasingly obese as time has gone on.

    Before any surgery, you should do your own research!! To say you were not aware of any risks or told by the Turkish medical staff (who you would have selected off of your own back to carry out this procedure for you) is just trying to pass the blame. From experience, you are provided a whole booklet of information and forms to READ and sign as an agreement that you understand…. prior to any medical tests etc being carried out in prep for your surgery. The reason people feel the need to look abroad is due to the substantial cost in the UK for this type of ‘selective’ surgery. Over 10k in the UK compared to 2.1k in Turkey. Personally I had the best experience possible and could not fault the company I used for the operation.

She should have called around for help, most hospitals would not turn her away when she was clearly in dire need. Thats incredibly irresponsible. I agree that it was wrong for the hospital to show a lack of regard for her but she should have gone to a hospital at home at the very least, she could have lost her life!

    The same thing can happen in the USA. I had mine in 2005, the sugeon closed the entrance to my stomach to the size of an eraser on a pencil. I cant eat most meat it gets stuck and my esophagus now has strictures PLUS now i have a B-12 deficiency that cant be corrected and auto immune problems. But they are just finding out that about 90% of people having gastric by pass surgery will develop these problems. Most can not be fixed and im not even thin! I got to a certain weight and my body will not shed anymore weight.

    If the NHS was serious about this issue they would do a lot more to help people BEFORE they get to the stage of needing surgery to reduce obesity! There needs to be local hubs in communities to deal with health and nutrition to tackle obesity. NHS could set up local slimming clubs along the lines of Slimming World/Weight Watchers but with dietitians, psychologists, (sports)personal trainers/physical therapists, cooks who can teach about budgeting, food clubs that can buy nutritious food in bulk from farmers and suppliers so that people who are poor can eat the way they are supposed to, even collaborating with local restaurants who need to offload food at the end of a shift so it doesn’t go to waste. There is so much the NHS can do but doesn’t do. There is a conversation about prevention being better than cure that this country needs to have.
