    You are my favorite crochet tutor! I’m brand new at this, and so far have made a bunch of your hats and this scarf! This is so warm and cute. I also added wooden buttons to the pockets for decoration. My only complaint is it’s very chunky and not really long enough to wrap around the neck. Please advise. I used a super chunky size 6 yarn. I also had to increase the rows to 8 instead of 5 on the pockets because they weren’t big enough. Thank you again. I’ve been running around screaming and showing it off!!!

    The *last row *so it will look identical the other side, I half-double crochet in every stich across. But I made sure it was facing in same direction of the other. So I may have to add a row and turn. Or begin with yard to face the side I need. Thank you.

  • @jenniferaustin8623
    @jenniferaustin8623 2 года назад +1

    I have found that doing 8" rows till done the FULL LENGTH works better for the length of the scarf being stretchy.
    If you do the chain vertically it'll be tight. With no stretchiness to comfortably wrap.
    Unless you know how to do a foundation stitch. Which has a lot more stretchiness than a normal chain stitch. 🥰

      Lion Brand Wool-Ease generally comes in 106-yard skeins but I found this Driftwood color only had 87 yards in each skein.
      Average Scarf: 4 skeins of 87 yards each
      Jumbo: 4-1/2 skeins of 87 yards each.

      You can actually make it with any yarn, just make sure you make a small square first and calculate the length of your initial chain. I used a very thick yarn for this scarf , super bulky. I am sorry, I don't know what it is called in other countries.

    I dislike long chaining. Can't u pls make a scarf that is worked "vertically" rather than "horizontally". It's easier to adjust the length as well

    • @crochetdreamz
      @crochetdreamz  3 года назад +3

      Yes, it is, but I want the rows to run vertical. If you want, you can work it vertically too. Just start with an even number.

    If I buy a Level 5 Bulky yarn do I still use the same size hook or would I need to go one size down on the hook to a 9mm?
    I wound up purchasing a Bulky 5 (100% Acrylic) yarn and I bought a 10mm hook as suggested in the instructions. Here is my concern and where my uncertainty comes into play; I feel that the metal 10mm hook that I purchased is making each and every chain and HDC way too big and lengthy which is causing each chain and/or HDC look loose and saggy. After completing the 156 chains, the chains themselves look wide and significantly stretchy. When I proceeded to the step of doing HDC’s all the way the down the 155 chains, I notice that when I insert my hook to form a loop onto the hook or if I make a HDC it seems like this 10mm Hook with this Bulky 5 yarn is creating some very loose and stretchy Chains and HDC’s. Should my work be looking wide and super stretchy? If you look at the first first row of HDC’s and the second row of back and front HDC’s are you supposed to be able to see wide holes through in between your rows? Or should the stitches be closer and tighter together so that the scarf holds in more heat? The yarn I purchased is not a Thick Bulky 6, it’s just a Bulky 5 so I’m wondering if I ought to downsize on the Hook to get closer stitches? Can someone please help me. I feel my scarf is coming out way to loose and stretchy, way beyond what it should be.

    • @crochetdreamz
      @crochetdreamz  2 года назад

      Yes, definitely go down a hook size or two. It is not supposed to have holes.
